I’ve been told my rants are being missed, since I left my hellhole of a job. So here’s a filler until something major goes wrong.
Right so here’s what my life is like at the minute. I’m working remotely from home. So this morning, instead of spending 2 hours in traffic, I got up at a reasonable hour and brought the dog for a walk. I don’t know who these people think they are, fucking up my routine like this. The audacity of them thinking it’s no big deal really pisses me off.
I’m the only iOS developer in the company. Normally I get bombarded with “why not use react-native” or “RxSwift is the future” and other shitty tools. Last week I said “i’d like to do X this way”. Do you know what those absolute bastards said to me? You ready? Hope you are sitting down ... they said ... “ok, sounds good” .... the fucking c***s.
Oh oh and the big one, wait for this now. Fridays are demo days, last Friday I showed what I was working on. Afterwards the CEO comes along, stares me in the eyes and without a care in the world what his comments might do to my self-esteem the fucker says “wow great job”. He fucking makes me SICK!!!
Feels good to get all that off my chest. I’ve missed venting. At this rate, I’ll be back very soon!8 -

Upgraded work PC to a SSD. Can't believe the difference it made. It's like a new computer.
Only trouble is, now I can't blame the computer for my slow work...
Maybe I can blame the RAM from now on.9 -

So the company I work for decides there's money for installing a Jacuzzi on the roof but won't buy our new dev a PC? Where's he supposed to work? In the fecking hot tub?5

Made up my mind to quit my new job yesterday. Im constantly bored. Either I have no work assigned no matter how much I ask for more, or I get handed work where the solution is already identified.
Obviously gonna find a new job first, wish me luck!8 -
That awkward moment when you alter your code to see if it work this new way, and doesn't, and undo does not work. *Weapons grade facepalm*14

Wish me luck, ranters. Tomorrow I start working in an IT company for the very first time. Hope I don't get fired very soon, freelancing is hard. And I still owe >1300€7

Was feeling like a boss in new office after fixing a major bug.
Yes, the bug was fixed. Only half of the program doesn't work anymore.1 -
- hire a new Dev.

Our sysadmin just wrote our new work account passwords on our office whiteboard, visible to everyone... Now that's how you create chaos2

Sunday afternoon extra work..
New guy: what do you do?
Me: backend, mainly
New guy: c#?
Me: yeah, but not just..
New guy: so you're good at it?
Me: I'm a fucking proctologist
Awkward silence, followed by nerdy giggling -
Anyone else work in a codebase that is so deeply convoluted, that the only way to make new features work is to write new code in a similarly convoluted way?
Everyone wants to refactor our system, but we're a small shop with an insane amount of technical debt, so it likely won't happen for a long time. Any suggestions in the meantime? I feel like I'm spending more time figuring out how to make something work in our system then learning actual good practices.6 -
WHAT'S NEW
We removed some things that weren’t working properly, fixed some things that weren’t working properly, and added some things that might not work properly. -
I'm starting a job tomorrow, and I've just received the 3rd call today to make sure I'm ready... Nice of them but also kinda weird.5

Me at the new company:
My code doesn't work, I don't know why..
My code works!, But still I don't know why5 -
"Linux is shit because nothing works on my new DOM 2017/2018 laptop!"
Yes it's true that nothing will work if you put your finking ubuntu 14.04 installation with a fucking old 3.13 kernel in your new Laptop!
Update. Your. Fucking. System.6 -
If you want a New Zealand developer job, you need a work visa. If you apply a work visa you need a job offer to get enough points...6

Last year my goals were two:
- work less
- earn more
and I only achieved the second one.
Based on that, my new resolutions are:
- sleep more
- do not work more
- earn more or equal
- to gain stability
- more efficient workouts7 -
Literally no work to do. Learning Ruby to fill the time. Forgot how fun it is to learn new things!4

Working as a new employee: no wifi. No work. 10 new tools to get familiair with. 41 new people to get to know. No workstation. No desk. No signed contract.
So far so good.4 -
The company I work for insists on having windows on every work laptop although the work I do doesn't require windows. I bought a new hdd, replaced the old one and installed gentoo. Not sure if they could fire me if they found out, however my productivity increased from the first day on.15

The Last Rodeo
Hi dear ranters. I've been a dev since I was 12, that makes 18 freakin years. Although I love my job and being someone who not only consumes but also produces, I am a bit grown tired of the industry.
About 6 years ago I cut ties from the last agency I worked with to become a freelancer. I ignited many projects, helped many of my customers (still helping most of them) to realize their goals. But I've come to realize that my country doesn't like old school laborers like myself (for some reasons I would explain if asked).
So I've been thinking: what would I do if I wasn't doing this job? What would you do for living if you were to stop being a developer? Let's have a chat.31 -
So, just started my new job (stoked btw). At the last interview - boss: what kind of OS do you work on?
Me: I'm a simple guy who uses windows and notepad++
First day at work - get a brand spankin' new macbook and endure the most unproductive day ever...19 -
Here with my books just bought these new 8 monitors just to use them for my marketing analytics work, but do you know what i love more than these books and 8 monitors that i just bought for my marketing analytics work? My brand new lamborghini6

IT dept releases update for Cisco Jabber for work environment and describes it as a minor update.
Me installs new version...
- completely new UI
- loses saved login credentials
- loses connected devices
- loses all settings
- loses history
My definition of "minor" is "slightly" different4 -
When confronting a new language: "how does this work? i don't understand it's syntax. I'm not going to achieve nothin in life"6
-
"What's new" for the latest MIUI update on my phone. I wonder how they finally managed to convince the alarm clock to work on holidays. 🤔1

This might seem like a dumb rant to have but I just started a new job, and I asked my boss about the Work From Home policy and basically, there is no work from home, at all. I'm bummed out because I got into a really good WFH rhythm at my last job and now I have to go into the office every day, even though I am stationed in a different city than the main company office anyway. I'm already remote! Why do I have to pay to come into work remotely anyway!? Argh.15
-
Me apprentice 18 years old in germany: I don’t want to go in another team
Also me in the new team after 2 days: playing with my new boss during work CSGO and say everyone we are to busy with the big project3 -
Wife's driving me nuts
Work is driving me nuts
At least my kids are awesome!
Maybe getting a new job would help. I'd probably need two new jobs to match this one though5 -
Thank you, dear 3rd party vendor replying to my ticket to my work email and sending me my new password IN FUCKING PLAINTEXT!10

Makes a joke about my work laptop im getting that we should all invest in some game development so we need some new laptops (we develop prototype apps to validate ideas for startups and i never work on proper projects). I get to work and see this.. Omw im so happy..1

Everyone is remote working and executives keep telling non-technical to push their communications into shared channels in Microsoft Teams.
It forces analysts and managers to ask questions plainly. They are getting developer input quickly so aren’t wasting time on in-person meetings. The higher ups see how little many produce. Developers are busy churning out software as usual and responding to technical questions.
Our CEO said something in a channel that suggested he is considering downsizing the management and adding more developers. 😱 The response was that analysts and managers packed the developer schedules with online meetings and are trying to initiate more documentation work.3 -
Got new chair 🙌 finally after 2 months of sitting on crappy chairs, and I moved to a new place. Here it is, I’m very excited to work in this setup, starting tomorrow 🎉(smaller keyboard and stand is planned 😎)3

Started a new job today. Now to get used to all the new coding standards and ways of working...
At least I received a welcome pack full of booze to help me get through it :)3 -
The new company I'll work in told me that I have to use windows because they have an ad and Linux login does not work proper with it...4

Ahhhh.. the great feeling of starting a new project at work after the stresses and health deterioration of maintaining old code bases.

Devrant: @UserIFollow posted new rant

Listening to chilling country music and learning whole new language at work after successful meeting. Life is worth living for such moments 😊4

I know I can't be the only one thinking safari is the new IE, like "it has to work on safari" makes me way more sad than "it has to work on edge"
IE is default unsupported in my company
This time around I figured out that fucking safari can't work properly with dates!
Like:
new Date("2019-05-16 11:00") // won't work
new Date("2019/05/06 11:00") // will work
new Date("16/05/2019 11:00") // won't work
new Date("11/05/2019 11:00") // will work, but it's November the 5th
Ok, the last 2 bugs are due to English&American who can't understand how dates work, but still... WHY IS SAFARI THE ONLY DIFFERENT ONE?8 -

2 weeks in my new job. I started hating the work. I'm stuck working on legacy systems. This guys don't work on latest technologies.2

Remote work for me, but not for thee!
Google angers employees with 'hypocritical' remote work policies
Employees were already stirred up over opaque policies on remote work.
Then a senior executive announced he's moving to New Zealand in what some workers consider special treatment.

New team in new company is awesome, no meetings for standup just post in slack channel, less meetings = work feeling less like work for me4

*1 hour passes*
Me: adds new code
*1 day passes*
Me: Why did it work?

Started to refactor a class. An hour later -
"hmmm this little bit of code that uses the new refactored class could do with a bit of work". An hour later

"Shit, I've almost rewritten the damn application" !!! -
I see a lot of rants about Linux dual boot with Windows and Windows update fucks up grub. So I bought a new ssd and reinstalled Linux, but damn.. its always a lot of work to make everything work again. Every time I still learn new things and I don't have to be afraid anymore after Windows update
-
My dream is to one day work on something and be allowed to finish it instead of being toss on new project every 2 days...1
-
Welcome to your new feature, oh wait, no, we need you to work on that feature. Whoops, sorry, that one needs to be done....
Is that new feature finished yet?2 -
That I'm Not working on my personal projects after university or work and beeing to lazy to even start learning a new language.

Google's new Material design, with more curvy elements with broad borders, woth cocky font ...... is UGLY as FUCK
12 year kid at work10 -
Learning a new (old) language for work. Found a site that has a 100 day series on it... stops at day 6. Fml4
-
Found out new senior used to work at one of the same places I used to work but a while before my time. So I guess that's what happened to his hair4
-
When you find a new use for an old app I wrote and still have the source code...
And now I'm late to work... -
Took some leave recently to interview for a new job. Back to work to find that I have nothing to do. Asked for more work and got nothing. This place just gives me constant reminders of why I'm looking elsewhere4
-
We just started a new project at work
The best part: You can't break production if it doesn't exist yet!1 -
When you are fired from a project (restructuring and finance related) and before you have free time multiple companies are already soliciting for you....
Why people? I was planning on having a few days off....1 -
New project:
Estimated work: 1000h
Developers able to work on it: 1.5
Due date: 31st of July
No problem...2 -
London feels like a calmer version of New York or my native Chicago. I'm starting to get tempted to work here.7

After remembered my boss for two months to create a team GitHub acc, he finally made it today.
Time for a new era 🤓
New frameworks, new source Control what's next?
CI Tools? 😱😂
Feels awesome to work with the good tools you already know from your private projects 🤗1 -
Me (new position): Hey, can I run this locally?
Other dev: No, it can only run through CI.
Me (exploring): Oh, I see. CI -> Docker -> Makefile -> Ansible -> Packer -> Terraform -> new EC2 image -> new EC2 host -> command.
Well fuck. That's not going to work locally.4 -
So recently moved to a new place. New roommates. Thought lets initiate a talk. Found out one of em is a web developer.
Me: So, what you working on?
Him: Web technologies
Me: oh great...I worked on ReactJS and AngularJS.
Him: Our company uses AngularJS.
Me: So you work on AngularJS, right?
Him: Oh no I don't work on AngularJS...I am a frontend developer...
(Awkward silence)
(Inner me: No shit. Need to find new place.)
Should I tell him?1 -
In other news:
I've been notified that my new working visa is ready so I can start to work with the new company that offered me an overall-better job position.
Yay! -
When you find out all of your new fellow web devs are all from boot camps, and you spend more time teaching them than getting your work done. New job time maybe?3
-
Wrote some code. Didn't work.
Cleared all build caches, deleted project files and re-opened the project from scratch. Code still doesn't work.
Copied the same code over to a new project. Works.
I FUCKING HATE DAYS LIKE THESE!!!2 -
At work we get points each month if we don't miss work for the entire month. I have enough points to get a Canon EOS eSLR, or a new mobo-cpu-mem combo. I hate having to make desicions and choices.6
-
So it's officially a month into my new job...
I have to say, sometimes life can surprise you, I never expected things to go down so smoothly especially after getting fired from my previous one.
My manager is just an amazing super friendly guy, great colleagues with positive attitudes, positive work environment, better benefits, the list goes on...
Honestly I would say the biggest con is I now work 45hrs/week instead of 35, which might be a dealbreaker for some but I also work in the cloud industry which is honestly miles ahead than the UAT testing crap I used to do, plus the company pays for your certifications after you pass, so it's a small price to pay imo.
If any of you are struggling with a shitty job/work environment don't give up, out of all the places I worked at I never felt appreciated until I came here, keep on grinding.9 -
I work on a daily bases in Photoshop and never considered that I can create scripts for it.. It's a whole new woooooooorrrrld (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ3

the first most annoying thing in devrant are new users
the second most annoying thing is "new comments on a rant you commented on" notifications. They require maintenance work, and I can't even mute threads on desktop5 -

So, recently new CTO joined.
And suggested to migrate our entire platform on GO from PHP.
And all dev teams will get new macs.
Its gonna take more 3-4 months so.
Kind of exicted to work on.7 -
My new PM thinks programming is like using Excel to define times and send the price of the work hours to the clients... 😂1
-
Estimating for a new client, asked for details of their current API. Got the answer " I can't do your work for you". This will be fun!!1
-
A client hired someone to work on a new feature while we were working on something else. The new guy makes huge commits that we don't have the time to read, really.
I merged and deployed my work only to find that the whole database was wiped. Apparently, the new guy pushed some code that reset the database.
I Spent the rest of the day looking through backups trying to restore the database.2 -
Decided to try out the new windows terminal app... It may be in preview but oh boy it needs work...
And not just a little work but A LOT of work, I've used prototypes that are more functional :-/4 -
is it me or you also make a new file of a working code just make and see how new way it will work but end up editing the original file 😭1
-
A new project kicked off, where a new feature will be added to our app. The mythical creature called "Project Manager" asked us to take OT's and weekend work to rush and finish it. Aaaare you f*ckin' kiddin' meeee??!2
-
My computer just take fire. Hmm i think he dislike the new installation of windows :/
Well, be happy to have some other stuff for work !1 -
I was away for a long time. Now I got a new job which means it's time to start ranting. Fuck this legacy code is worse. I mean, a fucking cat running after a mouse could write a better source code if he had somehow pushed buttons while doing its job. Every fucking best practice I know is crushed to bits. And the funny part is, this company/startup recently got $300.000 funding.2
-
Boss hired a freelancer to work on a new reporting dashboard. Freelancer also built a backed. Boss wants me to work on fixing that backend. I check out the DB first only to find plaintext passwords. I threw up a little.2
-
When your boss ask to convert the system to the new framework version, but still ask the other team add new module. Then said why your work never done hmmm.2
-
Wow! New devRant IOS upgrade released today has some really cool new features! They must have a team of 10 coders or 1 @dfox and 1 @trogus. Great work guys!

My work day lately:
5% new code
95% figuring out how the old shi...code worked so I don't break everything4 -
New task with a march deadline, our 1 developer (me) will work on multiple projects, while also learning about AR (I'm a WebDev) and creating a commercial ready AR app....
I think it's time to get back to looking for a new job... -
Switching workplace after new year.
Already told boss I'm quitting last week. And it is like as soon as It was official I lost all patience with the company bullshit and lost the little interest I had left for my daily work. The codebase seemes bad before but now it feel 100x worse.
Work ethic keeps me from doing nothing but man I just want to get out.
Will be so nice to work with a new project and code base.1 -
Work on new projects and open source some of them and have 50+ star on the repos and people start using it
-
I work in a fast-changing company. I find it difficult to deal with using new languages / tools every few months. How do you deal with it?
Also, hi! I'm new.7 -
Computer at work is almost as old as the first wheel and super slow... Will they let me get a new one... Nope.4
-
I am being transferred to a new team. New team has started assigning work, but the current team has not yet released me.
So I end up working 80% of my time in the current team and 40% in my new team.1 -
The day that I was told that external contractors were used for all new project work, and employees were only used for support and operations... 😡3
-
Client : Couple of new features are added. Check out the documentation. Deliver the product as discussed.
Me : I doubt that. With new features it's definitely take one more week than discussed.
Client : Don't glam blame. It shows the work Quality and you are Incompetence.
Me : !?!?!???1 -
I just had the first day of my new job, and I started it by putting my victoriously earned devrant stress ball on my desk. I waited a word about it the entire day... I guess imma have to introduce my coworkers to the awesome place devrant is 😁2
-
Good guy Google.
Recently started a new job. Getting good feedback on my work. When really everything is off google :D -
1. Having a bsc degree is not enough
2. The new standard is master degree
3. What's next a phd degree as the new standard?
4. Then what? I have to be a millionaire first so i can be hired to work a job?9 -

Product needs you to work on a new high priority project ASAP after you finish your current work, deadline ~4 weeks. Also product hasn't finished their side of the breakdown yet.
ugh i just wanna be retired3 -
Finished my work on analytics and ads feature of the project.
The urge to push it under a new branch with name "AnalAds" is real xD2 -
When you're new at a startup, never do overtime before you're regularized.
Enjoy going home early after work while it lasts. ;) -
Why do I always forget how much work it is to get a new linux machine running? One minute I'm happy with my new Hardware the next I'm cursing it because I need to get my wifi drivers from some github account.3
-
faak. just faak new work sometimes. when time budget doesn't fit allotment, this happens of course.1
-
Is it sort of silly to work remote, but from a different place (library, shop, mall)?
I've had one remote job in the past, but start another tomorrow and I'm hoping to try to work from different places.
All of the posts of folks with their laptops on beaches, looking at waterfalls, and such make me happy.10 -
So I discovered WAMP this weekend, it's so nice to not have to work on my prod server when making changes and testing out new projects :)

Spent last 2 days trying to get an upstream data file loaded. I've now concluded it's just corrupted during transfer beyond repair... But I got to practice lots of Linux commands trying to figure out what the issue was and fix it (xml parser was throwing some error about nulls originally)
vi, grep, head, tail, sed, tr, wc, nohup, gzip, gunzip, input output redirection -
I'll let "procrastination" behind me, indeed I shouldn't be doing this rand :/, I back to work, love u, happy new year.

There's a tech job fair happening today, and I either have to leave work early or just not come to work at all to be able to go there. I really wanna get a new job, and I might regret it if I don't go there. Should I not come to work?20
-
Can't get on with work until plans are approved by boss.
Can't get approved by boss because he leaves every day at lunch.
N.B. I'm new1 -
Working in IT all day at work (not coding), yet I am excited to come back home to code and learn new stuff I don't do at work... Difficult to resist, too much cool stuff out there every day!!!3
-
man f*** ecom jobs. it's boring, the same shit all day. Nothing new. All they care about is how money they can work out of you.
-
Me: I'm gonna work on my personal project on my lunch hour!
*spends whole hour investigating one brand-new bug and fixing it*
Me: :/1 -
My colleagues have a new challenge at work: Sing the most annoying music when arrive so that it sticks in your head all day!2
-
When is it worth moving for a new job opportunity? Any of you guys work from home for a company cities or states away?2
-
How many times does it happen that devs leave an old job to go to a "prestigious" new job only to end up hating it?
In my case I don't like my new job and don't want to go back to my old job(even if I did kind of like what I did there). I'm kinda stuck waiting for a certain minimum amount of time to pass so that I could go to some other company doing work that I actually like doing.6 -
New job, same shit: looks like a lot of companies now are full (or have at least one) of superheros, which are thinking they are better or smarter just because they like not to use packages and reinvent a wheel each time . So if you are using build-in or 3d party modules you are evil
-
Now that I got some time off work, I'd love to dig deeper into programming, are there any new trends around?8
-
The new job is sucking all of my motivation away. Been a while since I’ve did any coding just for fun. It’s tedious to even start learning new things after work.. how do you people deal with it?7
-
Developers celebrate new Safari browser features. Nice! Good work! But when will Apple ship the new Safari to older macOS and iOS versions?
That would increase compatibility and reduce planned obsolescence, Apple! 🍏🍎👿4 -
Guy who has been with us for 6 months, I was trying to help him out, then he saw me use chrome dev tools and said he's never used them before... He's not someone I hired2
-
Thinking of logging into work to do a side project and learn some new tech.... bc I don't have time to work on it during the week...
And there's no personal use case to do this stuff...2 -
Just got a new work laptop which is absolutely awesome. Only bad thing is that i can't transfer the sticker swag :/4
-
Hello guys in new here
And to start, I share with you what my colleague say just after lunch (you will recognise yourself)
"So where was I in my work?
...
Oh yes! It didn't work"3 -
Man, at the rate I'm going, I'll have to put a bug I found back in April on my new years resolution list...
Sad thing is, as we all know, new years resolutions never work out... So maybe this bug will never be solved :S -
Deciding to do some work is much harder than actually doing any. This New Year Depression is killing me.
-
Finishing thesis, Passing degree, Work in a new professional environment, starting Master studies ^^
-
We should all skip work tomorrow - I just wanna have sex and eat pizza tomorrow. I hate new projects plthhhe5
-
Gets really excited thinking about possible new project.
Starts work on it.
2-3 days interest still there.
Gets bored after and puts project on halt.1 -
In your free time, do you find freelance projects / side hustled to earn money or learn new work related skills?8
-
Hi 👋
Is there a good alternative to using a MacBook Pro?
I'm in the process of getting new hardware for work.14 -
Working on a new website for Web Designing and Web Development etc
It's great to work with the team.2 -
Will we code on quantum computers in rhe future? What language will work? Will there be new language for just them?4
-
As a newbie dev, I'm looking for partners to work together. You know I feel like unmotivated right now for some unknown reasons. So I thought of changing the pace by meeting with some new people who feel the same. By working on some not-real-world-project or silly ideas together, we can learn how to work in collaboration. We can also share some new ideas together!1
-
My standard pattern for using 'time saving' things (frameworks, scripts, new technologies) seems to be:
1) Get excited by how easy <new thing> is to use.
2) Spend the next 12 hours trying to work out how to work with this new shit.
3) Realise I'm now further back than I started.
Today has been docker.
Easy to run my new Wildfly docker container.... can I find the IP address to connect to? Can I fuck.2 -
Added new function to my Android app, tested for an hour. It was ok --> git push.
After some time the function doesn't work anymore... -
Quick update on our partner's API that doesn't work (see previous rant).
They gave the wrong URL! Wow!! Well we have the new URL but
the production credentials don't work!!!2 -
First day of work at the new job.
BUT, don’t wanna work. Just want to snuggle in a cozy blanket and watch GOT on Netflix
.
.
.
.
(I know GOT is not on Netflix, but don’t you wish it was?)2 -
"We don't have time for refactoring this PR now, please open a new task and we'll work on it asap."
Merge, Deploy, and set new task as Won'tFix two hours later :-/ -
When a new developer joins my friend's company, they have to work on such screen for trial period (3 months).
There is also no second screen.5 -
Time flexibility, free food, remote job, a great place to learn new stuff and a great environment to work with no shitty developers.
-
Thinking about squarespace and wix, I want to work on a new web page generator.
What's happening?😂2 -
Got a new notebook for work, got all Projects from tfs and it's like every single project I want to build has false references
-
Goals for 2019:
-Try not to get fired for writing trash code
-Get a new job (maybe :/)
-Work on my own project that hopefully takes off -
Programming at a job to me is no longer creating something fun and valuable; it's more like figuring out why shit doesn't work, con-stant-ly.
It' s like coming in to your desk every morning, dreading the day because there's yesterday's shit to fix. "Hmm, what shall today be like? Oh yes, troubleshooting why my database model doesn't work, redesign it completely and break my mind over db details. The next day? Having to redesign my classes to implement new patterns because apparently the current design isn't good enough." Even if you work on new deliverables, that's just new problems in disguise anyway.
Pleasant? Not really.
lol.3 -
I usually search for a new method, factory, or design when what I know doesn't work or doesn't work well.
-
Started at a new place... Use pretty niche tech, not transferable elsewhere (Vaadin frame work )... Crap.....
-
Switched to new workplace and need new headphones for coding/work/going out.
Which model would you advice? Budget up to 100EUR. I've seen lots of ppl having Marshall headphones, are they any good?1 -
I've got to get the act together and actually work on new and existing projects instead of just Kernel Simulator.
-
My biggest mistake was i'd ignore the whole documentation / flow how the new function should work on a existing module
-
So features and work are slowing down in the pipeline at a new job I took. Is it okay to just spend the time in between "work" to do tutorials on other technologies?7
-
It sucks when you are unable to work on any new features in forever and mainly spend time updating the existing code base, doing visual designs & documenting the application.
Let me please work on a new feature that the clients will use instead of meaningless busy work2 -
Installing the entire system on new machines. Too many configuration files and too much manual work. (New workplace, haven’t automated it yet)
-
Start a project with new idea that will totally work. Rinse and repeat every 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months 😅
-
New team structure at work. Six of us. It’s a mixture of seasoned devs and new guys (me). An (subjective) objection is made about something I created. Should I push back or let the senior devs have their way?6
-
That lovely moment your development server manages to find a new error every day and you have to spend the new day fixing the error. This just a week from releasing the work of months running smoothly.
-
Whenever there is a new project to work on, I get the complex parts, I work for 10 Hours a day. While others get simple tasks, go home on time.
Question do I take that as a compliment ? -
@Work: Every new project, we need a new server for CI/CD...
Whiteboard + bets on how many weeks it will take to get some servers provided.undefined java python network continues delivery servers networking migration continues integration integration -
Is it possible to automate connecting new chromecast to wifi for the first time ?
I am interested in program that will detect new device and configure it.
It could also work by connecting new chromecast to computer usb port.
Anyone seen something like that ?3 -
PM: 'the project is going down but the client is so happy from you.. he is inviting you to a new similar one'
Giving me work for more than a year and still doing... opening new positions and boosting the company a little1 -
So I got a new remote dev position today yay after two interviews and three months of looking for one, however, they can't onboard me until the virus calms as I need to go into the office and pick up some equipment 😔7
-
About to start my new job (on Monday).
I went to the new office once to get the new work laptop (a fucking Mac).
They also told me be fast in setting up the work email as the client i'll be working on will send some instruction on how to use their accounts.
Even heard them since... hopefully they'll just pay me for doing basically nothing as I now have literally NOTHING to work on when I'll start.
Also, they told me something about the project I'll be working on, and to be honest, the whole project would take about 2 months to be done from scratch, but we have until November to make it work... I'm so fucking confused!2 -
When you are at your 2nd day of (the new) work and still without Visual Studio installed and the access to the intranet.
-
Ctrl + Enter should work for posting `new posts`/`comments` and Esc for cancelling on devRant in browser.2
-
When you have just made a new feature and you rebase to master, and the project won't compile because someone else pushed something which doesn't work...2
-
4 Step Plan:
1: Have a new idea
2: Work on it
3: Forget about it a week later
4: Pause project till forever! -
Can you suggest discord servers to me?
Particularly ones with active voice chats and nice nerds.
(I need new distraction while i study/work 👀) -
How do you go about introducing new technologies to your company/team?
Whether it’s writing the next API in another language or using a new framework/library/approach?6 -
Sometimes I think about changing jobs just to be the new guy again and be able to work in peace without constant IMs popping up. :/
-
Best:
Got to work on an interesting and kind of meaningful project from ground up and opportunity to work remotely without any cons (except for getting a brand new macbook pro).
Worst:
Using AWS.6 -
Office Politics
I suppose I become a victim of office politics. I was working on new project and one more new project having e-commerce aspects was in queue. But my ex-manager went to the boss and asked him to assign me to her :( No more chance to work on e-commerce :( again have to work some geo-location services. Feel like fu*ked up ..2 -
I’m worried, as I’m sure many of you are about covid 19 and work drying up. I can work from home but who’s gonna want to get a new site or app done now with so much uncertainty!1
