When people write me at 5am on facebook, they think, how nice and organized my life is so I am getting up early. Truth is, I have not slept yet.4
-
Dear Clients,
if you really think what I do has so little value that you won’t pay for it, why on earth would you think it was going to help your business in any way? It’s clearly not worth it. How can it have a positive impact?

Coincidence? I think not!2 -
I hate how people think that to be a "hacker" or hacking is this special job title. lol. Hacking is just using something in a way in which it was not intended to be used.
So pretty much think ...anal sex.
There. Now many people are "hackers"6 -
The level of fucking backflips I have to do to get these morons to learn git and not share code via fucking emails, Jesus Christ, you'd think I asked them to switch religions. Why the fuck does this profession not require a fucking license in this godforsaken country.14

Power efficiency beyond this world.

My MacBook WILL NOT FAIL ME, AT ANY COST. It nearly died... I felt sorry for it, I had to pet it later...10 -

A program crashing? Windows' fault.
"Forced" updates you could've turned off? Windows' fault.

"If you can't think of at least 3 different ways to approach an issue, you do not fully understand it yet."11 -
Me: Taking online course for programming. Think it's not that hard.
PC: Coded programm runs good like in the tutorial.
Me: Wow I can code now.

Mate: I think we should use firebase for our project.
Me: why?, I don't think our project require firebase
Mate: I think there should be some use of firebase in our project.
Me: *madly Explains complete project architecture why we don't need real-time database*
Mate: *not accepting* there should be use of firebase, I'll think and tell you
Me: *Flips table* 😡5 -
I honestly do not understand why clients, with no understand of development at all, think they know more than the developer.
I do not understand why these people think they know what can and cannot be done within a given timeline.
If it's so damn easy, why aren't you making the damn website/app yourself????

Code Applications every day in different languages, but too stupid to use Excel.4 -
OMG it’s 4 am, and I think I made a stupid fucking mistake and waste everybody’s time. Need to check right now

Ah nah, we’re good. I am not a moron -
I wonder if I'm getting tired of making websites for people. I just "fired" two longtime clients today without really caring all that much. Not for no reason. They just were asking too much for too little. And I was getting bored of them. When I think about what I want to do in my spare time, the first thing I think about is creative writing. The last thing I think about is code and website design. It didn't used to be this way.3
-
thought I'd check why I'm getting connection timeout on my app
I think the problem is me and not the code3 -
I think im sick. Not because my whole body hurts, my nose is running and i cant even move, but because i just had the idea that i should unit test my personal project.4

Whenever I see "404" I instinctively add "x not found" after it in my head. Like if this got to 404 upvotes, I'd immediately think "404 upvotes not found." Anyone else do this? It doesn't matter what the context is, I ALWAYS do it. It's almost annoying.3

How the fuck have I not been using GO!
What bullshit wizardry is this!!!
I think I'm in fucking love!!
Sorry php, it's been a long long relationship, but I think I have a crush on this hamster. 🥰17 -
Which do you think designers are tired of hearing?
"Make the logo bigger"
"Looks great but can you make it pop"
"Can you make it pretty"
"Something is missing in the design but I'm not sure what is."
After 15 Revisions
"I think the first design you made was better."8 -

I hate all of the people that think "agile" means "do everything at the same time, with no cost". Or, other fuckwits, think that "agile" means "fuck plans, dev team will figure something out".
Both of these types apparently did not read any publication about the subject.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!8 -
Often I look at my seemingly perfect code 30cm away from screen, mumble "WTF", while asking me why it is not working.
My boss might think I'm retarded... -
Four engineers and a broke down car
One day, mechanical engineer, electrical engineer, chemical engineer, and computer engineer were driving down the street in the same car when it broke down.
The mechanical engineer said, “I think a rod broke”.
The chemical engineer said, “The way it sputtered at the end, I think it's not getting enough gas”.
The electrical engineer said, “I think there was a spark and something's wrong with the electrical system”.
All three turned to the computer engineer and said, “What do you think?”
To which, the computer engineer replied, “I think we should all get out and then get back in”.3 -
I think one of the main disadvantages of working at Uber is that you should explain you’re an engineer not a driver every time someone ask you about your job2

"I don’t think of myself as an artist. I know some designers consider themselves such, but I can’t. This is not to say that I don’t hope that our work has artistic merit. Anyway, I never know how someone could proclaim himself or herself to be an ‘artist’; I think it should be a designation best left for others to bestow, much like ‘genius’ and ‘asshole’." - Alexander Isley1

I'm 30 years old, sometimes I feel old to study computer/web programming.
What do you think? If it's not true, what can I do to change the way I think about it?28 -
For me I think it basically comes down to this:
Any software that I have to use for work purposes that I do not have admin access to! -
My parents think I'm teaching computers to think strategic to rule the world some day. They are a bit scared. They love me though. But they are scared.
Also my mum once told me that I should take care not to end in hell. She was serious about it. -
Part of me loves devRant for it's diverse community of awesome people doing varied and interesting projects. And their ability to support and learn from each other, or at least agree to disagree.
Another part of me wants to host an API with an isTwat call that allows you to find out if someone's a twat or not, with links to their offending comments and rants. Along with a website for easy Twact™ checking.3 -
Customer: I need a one page website, which must have an administration panel , so I can change and add new sections. I will also have designed a unique logo and a unique web design. I think you can do it in 5-10 hours , so I'll give you $ 50 and $ 100
Me: ehmmm... I need more time if it is to be unique , and one hour cost of $ 5- $ 10 is not enough.
Customer: fuck it. I do it my self. it can not be that hard , and I think it's too expensive.
Me:5 -
Just learned my company says it owns everything I think or build, whether I am on the clock or not. It was in the handbook, not the paperwork I signed, but it says I agree to it if I keep working for them. It even says I cannot show interest in something without their approval. FUCK!13

Today I ended a coding session by fixing a problem I’ve been having but not the problem I was attempting to patch and I ended up screaming “SHIT NO I FAILED SUCCESSFULLY”
a friend of mine that over heard me was like “dude those aren’t words that work together”
I just replied with “you would think so but it’s more common than you think” -
I know I rag on Javascript, but this is actually how I see it. It always did what I needed, but I am not enamored nor dismayed by it. I think the technology behind it is pretty cool too.19

So our HoD just sent us this image for doing some courses

I always try to explain the new coding conventions to my team but they think it's funny and should not be taken seriously [facepalm]2

Well, not necessary my favourite but the first one I learned.
I think the weird syntax and semantics combined with the ridiculous average length of variable names is a major flaw in this one.4 -
The more I go through devRant the more I think I wanna work alone... or with a small group of devs I know 😐 (as in, freelancer or something. Not in a company)8

I'm definitely not a person who says or thinks of those things liberally, but.. I think I might have a ghost in my apartment :)

Have you guys already seen CES of Shit by @internetofshit

Also remember that 'smart' => 'vulnerable' 😱
And if you are not following @internetofshit I think you should.4 -
i think it's a waste of time and resources to memorize syntax and other stuff you can google. since we have a lot of material available, we should focus on logic, more abstract concepts, stuff you can't copy paste. well, I think that should be the way in every area, not only CS15

Does anyone else hate capitalised hexadecimal colour codes?
I'm not sure why, but I just think #ccfd73 (just an example) looks better than #CCFD7315 -
Not gonna lie. I’m in the mood to make a game and I’m gonna try it. I think it’ll be fun. Wish me luck!
For anyone curious I’m gonna be using Godot because it’s not bad and It’s not nearly as fat as Unreal and Unity. They’re not bad just not what I want rn.6 -
So I guess one of our clients suddenly switched to a different website service... Without being told. I went to their website and it's so not what I worked on. I still have pending tasks for it, but I guess not anymore.
I think it's the same case with another client from before. -
Even though not tech related, I think many on devrant would resonate well with the tone of the channel:

What I've learned working in corporations so far:
1. don't think - escalate.
2. don't do - delegate.
I've noticed I'm using those two lines like my motto or smth of sorts recently. I wonder whether this is for the good or not :think:7 -
I'm absolutely amazed this business keeps going. I've been fighting with an upgrade process (for a product I don't usually work on) for two full days now and every. single. thing. has a million specific workarounds. HOW DOES THIS EVEN GO?1
-
Not only dev related but remember to constantly backup your important info of your Hard disk constantly... specially if those disk have not only the lastest code you are have been working on but photos of you and high school friends back in the day when the original Iphone was just released that you havent properly printed yet.
I think that is one of the nearest thing I can think of that I regret lately aside from simple being "my life" in itself1 -
I solved this bug today just to get good sleep at night by not brainstorming every solution.
Here I am thinking about the different scenarios to test my code!!I think I'll sleep peacefully tomorrow!! -
Yep, I think I'm telling everyone I majored in Psychology from now on... Maybe people will stop asking me to fix EVERYTHING--not just computers, but EVERYTHING...2

>you can order Devrant stickers for free
>but you're not doing that
>'Man, why? That stickers are cool!'
>I know they are cool, but I'm here not for stickers, I'm here for funny community
That's what I think.9 -
I think I just gave my teammates/boss another mind-blowing idea...
Daily stand-ups are usually done standing up... Which means away from computers... And therefore JIRAs should not be mentioned, at least not by ID...
WHO THE FUCK CAN REMEMBER THEIR ISSUE IDS ALONG WITH EVERYONE ELSE'S...11 -
I started using vim today
Not sure if I'm gonna ditch GUI IDEs and editors completely, but I think I'll try using only vim for a day or two, see how it goes8 -
Had a bug that I just couldn't figure out. How did I solve it? Had to think like a user. Just started clicking options over and over. Not giving it time. Found my issue.1

That time when I ranted about wanting to commit suicide but not having enough energy to go and buy a gun.
That day in the evening, I asked my GF: "I think that the whole life is a humongous rationalization on top of biological avoidance of death".
She has an untreatable neurological disease. She told me "I found out it's a consensus among different philosophers. It absolutely is. I just prefer not to think about it".5 -
Not sure if I found a red flag or a green flag…
“The candidate needs to know react well. No, using npx create-react-app is not enough!”
On a first sight one may think: “oh cool they search someone with in depth knowledge”
On a second thought, tho…
- Am I going to need to start many react projects in the role? Don’t think so.
- if I am… am I forbidden to use cra? Why? 🤔
- how is not using a bootstrapper a sign of “deep knowledge”?
Sounded interesting at first, but the more I think about it, the more I think this request is a red flag.9 -
So @dfox ... when I subscribe to people, why not show their posts in my feed??? This is overuse of the notifications system I think...6

Why people think that Mac is better than pc? Im Mac user and I like Mac. I think Apple just uses better hardware and charges extra for it. If you build windows with better hardware then windows will work really fast too. On Mac gradle build takes really less time because of SSD it does not mean Mac is faster. Get SSD for windows and see the difference yourself.
- P.S. Not hater of any OS.6 -
gotta have clear boundaries, specially with phones. I don't even think about code solutions outside of work, i leave that stuff in the office. we're not a "family", I'm not doing anything for love and my extra hours are a rarity.

I had a CS teacher in college who was constantly learning and testing himself in order to catch up. He was also my favourite teacher ever. Coincidence? I think not.

I have been a developer for a few years and I think I know my shit. Fullstack. I took 2 interview tests recently and received rejections that have completely killed my confidence. I don't want to apply to any new jobs because I am terrified after all these years, I am not as good as I think I am. I have been a dev for about 8 years now when will I be badass 😭9

I think I'll finish this before lunch...
*lunch*
I think I will finish it today!
*end of the day*
Not finished... But almost
Been coding the whole day, but my estimation was way off :(1 -

Just had someone branch off my repo of some class assignments I did last year.
What are they up to.....
Better not be doing what I think he's doing.5 -
Why do people think that I'm a computer technician? I'm not here to fix your WiFi or make your system faster. Leave me alone! I got my work to do.1
-
I think I understand now why people who mastered vim recommend it.
It is so comfortable to not have to move your hands away from the writing position when you want to navigate through code.
I would really like to enable the vim keys plugin for my IDE but I think it would slow me down a lot because I'm so used to a lot of shortcuts in the IDE and not used to a lot of vim stuff -.-4 -
I don't think "main" is the best replacement for "master" on GitHub, I mean Git already uses branches so why not continue with the whole tree analogy and call it the "root" branch?15
-
When scrum master/agile coach sais "I know, I used to be a developer myself." ....
Do they think it makes me trust them and drop my point?
Honestly all I think is "well, plenty of bad devs out there, and there's a reason you'r not doing it anymore"3 -
I do not think that GoTo is bad. It can lead to hellish code but if you don't misuse it - it can be extremely useful.6

Do you think it's wrong when I use a cracked version of a not free software because I genuinely cannot afford to pay, I am not using it to make money either14

If you think parametised queries will save the day think again.
I occasionally test sites I visit throwing a few quotes at inputs and query params.
I also always test logging in as % with user or pass.
Not only are plaintext passwords a thing but so is this:
WHERE username LIKE ? AND password LIKE ?.

Start the reading of "clean code".
First thing that i have learn "The only valid measurement of code quality: WTFs/minutes".
What do you think about it ? Agree or not ? -
It makes me feel good to hear of all the mistakes people make - reminds me that if I make a mistake its actually not as bad as I think 😃

I am not developing for any client (yet). But reading all these stories and rants at devrant I think I am well prepared.1

I must be some kind of retard to think that a fallback font would actually handle the characters not handled by the previous fonts.

My biggest regret is not spending more time on Math. While I don't think it has hurt me directly, it has certainly decreased the chance of me learning some DL methods.
That and not pursuing a PhD.2 -
Family... I respond with song title:
Boulevard of broken dreams.
Our paths don’t cross anymore. I don’t know why. I don’t want anything from them cause I know the consequences (maybe that’s why). I am not missing them and they’re not missing me so I think it’s a win win situation.1 -
Someone posted a rant about pseudo HTML devs (I’m not gonna say who... @Alice). While she’s right I think there are two worse groups: Batch and Visual Basic wannabe devs30

Question here - what do you guys think of Kotlin?
Do you also think it'll be sufficient to learn Kotlin and not java to programm for Android?
I just began the transition, it's fun playing around with it, but a friend of mine wants to learn Kotlin to learn Android programming (and not java, he only has java basics).
What's your opinion on all this?12 -
Curious what you guys think about the creator of Node.js saying that he does not think Node is the best tool for servers and that Go is a much better option.
For me at least, I think it is great that people like him become aware of the shortcommings of the technology they devised, but wonder if it is such a good move to say such things (even tho apparently he is not the head of the Node.js project anymore)
I have always been fascinated by Node and the whole JS ecosystem. I think it did wonders for JS developers and it pushed the whole JS experience to a whole new level, but I am also aware of the shortcommings of it just as I am of the other environments that I use.
So, what do you guys think about his statements? Would you consider investing time in Go as a Node developer? Do you think that it will be possible to do a switch or would you rather stay in and advance the state ot Node development?2 -
I think I need to cut back on coffee. Maybe yesterday's was extra poyent but don't think I got much sleep last night... And now I'm taking a sick afternoon cuz I think I just crashed...
I need to sleep now... But then tonight.... hopefully it's not going into a loop... -

Do you ever look at old code from years ago a think “god that was bad”? I’m so embarrassed by something I wrote on 2010, it’s shockingly bad!
I actually feel a little low and think maybe I’m not very good! Of course now my code is so much better but think to myself, is what I’m writing now gonna be the same down the line?2 -
Fucking hell I'm turning into one of those pricks that think everyone is less competent than them, how do I go back? I guess I'm not as humble as I thought I was ._.11

Google bloody captcha.
It works fine, until you have more than one form on a page then the complexity increases by 100000%.
Finally my colleague gets it working then I read an article that says bots use Google own speech recognition service to defeat it. Fun times.3 -
So ... Do I get a confirmation or not? What is happening?
Stuff like that really makes me think if the Webservice is trustworthy ... 🤔2 -

I was 4 I think. Managed to reconfigure the IP and DNS settings and got the internet working again (it was a dial-up, in 2002). My entire family thought I was a prodigy of sorts (I am not).

Not a rant just a question, can I change my profile name? I like my name and all but I didn't think about anonymity when I created it.7

Does anyone know how to fix this on a laptop screen?
I think it's a pixel problem but I'm not sure.10 -

I get it — it’s not fashionable to be part of the overly enthusiastic, hype-drunk crowd of deep learning evangelists, who think import keras is the leap for every hurdle.

How do you guys handle receiving criticism to things you think you're doing well (or maybe not)?
I've been in my current role at my company for almost a year and I think I'm seen as good talent, but I have a hard time translating critical feedback from "we're telling you this so we can see you grow" and instead I hear "you are doing that wrong, do this instead."
It drives me nuts because I always think I'm failing.1 -
I think my client have a gift, he always know exactly where not to go or not to click...
Man, let me show you the prototype with peace !1 -

I think I may need a second graphics card. Not because of the performance but because I want to use more than 4 displays...
Damn first world problems!6 -
I think I need more human interaction .... Anyone want a drink ?
Maybe not the best place to ask... I'll go to a bar -
So to keep me going through the day I sometimes entertain myself by adding funny comments to my pull requests. I sit there giggling to myself like some sort of lunatic and the rest of the office probably think I'm a nutcase.
Todays gem was:
Added timeout to prevent hanging. Bet they wish they'd had this feature in the 16th century
Honestly I think my talents are wasted here...1 -
No QA Steve I will not insert a massive feature into the project no matter how high of an importance you deem it or how awesome you think it is.2

If, as a Dev, you have not heard of BAYOU, you need to research it, especially if you live in an area that can afford the initial investment. I think this AI technology will mature in less than a decade.
https://sciencedaily.com/releases/...
I don't think this will be limited to software development either, I think this type of AI will lend itself equally well to database development. We live in a technologically exciting, if somewhat unsettling world.5 -
what do you guys think is a good language to use when teaching the basics of coding? i've been thinking about it and i think something strongly typed would be the best, but i don't want to choose something too restrictive with errors, since i will be teaching for people that are not interested to working in the field11

I try not to think about the future.
But can not not do it.
Every thing will come together.
Or apart.
Disorder will increase.
Or everything is a lie. -
I just work without thinking about whether I want to do it or not. The more you think about it, the more you don't want to do it. Just get to it.

Although forcing people into doing things is really not my style, but I'm kinda sorta out of will to live. 😐2 -

!!rant?
Okay everyone...
So is "!rant" supposed to mean "NOT rant" like I think it is, or is it somehow the opposite of that like half the devRanters using the !rant tag think?
Let's settle this.4 -
I think I hit the maximum limit of Internet conexion with only 2.5 Gb card.
10 Gbits are a bit expensive :)
https://speedtest.net/result/c/...
I think now it's my network what limits connexion, not ISP12 -
My total sick leave this month is more than a week and it's not even two months since I joined the company as an intern.
I think I have somewhat bad impact on the boss. -
I have a solution in mind and it’s really not that complex but my brain just doesn’t want to connect all the pieces..
When I think about component a and b, then c and a don’t work together. So I come up with a solution for a and a but then b is loose again..
I think I’m getting old🤕8 -
tech D&D
dev = fighter
ops = cleris
network = wizard
design = bard
dba = warlock
infosec = rogue
it is not mine but i think its great analogy. and because i always choose the warlock1 -
There was an Internet hiccup at work.
The only sites I could access was Bing and Microsoft.
Not even the internal corporate network was accessible!
I think Big Brother knows me quite well!!! 😏 -
I think I just woke up from a nightmare and inception.
I was dreaming about not being able to sleep because I was hearing loud noises all night.
Anyone else every had that?2 -
One Windows is being a bitch a won't boot. I forgot the login password of another one of my windows laptop. Internet at home is not working at all.
Also to top it off, i think i lost the pendrive with my cryptos
Not the best day of my life.1 -
When I get stuck or don't understand why something is not working the way I think it should, I like to walk my self through the code and explain it out loud to myself.1
-
I am not sure my parents had a reaction, grand parents think i am smart and everyone else thinks i am a geek....which i am.
-
Time management. Maybe it's not really dev related, but I think it's very important. Trying to get better every day.1
-
When you realize you were born when it was 4:04 AM on the clock...
I think I was born to be a programmer... Or maybe not? Am I an error?6 -
I think I'm balding where my headphones usually sit...
Still not gonna change to those god awful in-ear ones though !1 -
I'm starting to think that Fedora is not a convenient OS for Android development, it just randomly freezes. I might try Pop!OS.
Or maybe it's because of Android Studio...2 -
I think I'm just going to start handing out my house keys to random people. I mean, I've got nothing to hide and I'm not interesting enough for them anyway so...
Stupid conspiracy theorists...4 -
I am not overly excited about my team, the team lead, my manager, my managers manager, my managers co-managers or my managers manager manager.
Further, I am not that confident that management actually became management due to competence. I now believe that management got to be management because they think (wrongly) alike. This is not a comfortable thing to dwell on.5 -

Not sure if it's appropriate here...
I think I am getting more affected by the "depression"... Lower productivity, restless sleeps, etc.
I quoted "depression" because I think it's a medical term that I need to get diagnosed before confirming it. I am thinking maybe I need to see a doctor on this but don't know where to start.
Any Hong Kongers here, sharing the same feel?... -
I think my windows is on to me. I'm trying to install Linux dual and it does everything in its power to not let me make a partition.
-
All of my teammates think `bun` is a dumpling.
https://bun.sh/
I just want to rant IT'S NOT A DUMPLING
IT'S A BUN2 -
Are here Vim users using the dvorak layout?
I am thinking of learning (programmer) dvorak but I am way to comfortable with Vim. I think Vim itself would not even be my primary concern since one should not use HJKL anyway. But I also have these bindings for switching tmux panes, vim splits and windows in i3, etc .
I think Dvorak would be a great opportunity to finally learn touch typing but I fear that Vim is not compatible with it.
So what is your experience with these two? Does it work? Is it worth it?2 -
Do you think tracking work hours by ticket makes sense?
I think it's a waste of dev time. Not sure from PM pov.6 -
Reading the internets in 2020, I've seen an increase in the usage of the term "Orwellian." It has led to many Inigo-Montoya moments.3
-
I was wondering...
What do you guys think of different work places e.g not working at your desk but instead working outside with a laptop?
I think you would lose alot if productivity because your screensize is limited and so on while coding. But if you're just writing/replying to Emails i think it could be fun.4 -
Whisper's support is slow that i think it does not exist.
PS: Give people options to delete their own damn data folks. -
One of Biggest dev insecurity i think poor quality of user passwords. Users have not yet understood how to create secure passwords.2
-
@dfox. I think it's gonna be greate to have a possibility to ban some tags. So posts with that tag will not show.8

I wouldn't want to run a company, but I keep hearing about incompetent bullshit and so I think I want to run a company and not fuck it up.
Thoughts?14 -
I made my first closure in PHP, but I'm not happy.
For me Javascript closure are nicer.
What do you think about?8 -
Talent Acquisition for a company I previously turned down reached out to me again. Bragging about their business acquisitions and head count increase. Lol that means nothing to me unless you significantly improved your pretty shitty PTO policy, which is why I turned them down in the first place and explicitly told them that was the reason.
I guess they think I’m desperate because I haven’t updated my LinkedIn, so it looks like I’ve been unemployed for a year. Nope, not unemployed. Just don’t want my enemies to find me at new job.
I ranted about that place here: https://devrant.com/rants/4832237/...2 -
Just a random quote I found today.
I am not what I think I am.
I am not what you think I am.
I am what I think you think I am.5 -
Question for the ones who use a smartwatch: do you think the price (e.g.: 250€) is worth it?
I really like the idea of the facility of not having to pick the phone for some things, but I don't know if it is really that useful. What do you think?9 -
I set up this Internet of Things Raspberry PI station to monitor the PM's but they did not think it was funny.
-
I spent 2 hours in an agile workshop with the "I do not think it means, what you think it means" guy.
When finished I could swear that if you asked the people what is agile, they would start crying. -
Sleeps at 4AM
Wakes up at 1PM
My Mind: Ready to code again.
Also me: Why not learn to code with vim. I think it's about time
Vim: I dare you to exit Motherfucker4 -
I think the Dev got it all wrong here, Apple is a fashion brand that focuses on UX not innovation.
Those using Apple's product just want to get shits done. -
Anyone else having random apps stealthily installed on their Android phone? It's annoying! If this happens not only on my phone, I think Google is up for something fishy.4
-
Hate it when I'm starting to feel sick and I actually have to not code for awhile because I cant think straight 😭

"I think if you’re starting out early in the process by talking about your ideas for solutions, you’re already not listening. I think you need to enter into any design project with that zen learner’s mind of ‘I don’t know what I don’t know.’" - Kim Goodwin1
-
I think I just figured out my problem. I can't think of any dream that I want. As I sat here, there is not a single thing that I could dream... I just wanted to stop feeling this way.1

I'm having a bad time using this Gnome. How could you say this is better than Unity? I think it's not.12
-
Not a rant but I honestly loooove vscode, I've been using it for the 2 years I think. Postman have created a vscode extension as well, I loved Thunderclient too.5
-
If you really like math or theory, I think a degree or a few is the way to go. Plus, you can get a head start in your career that way. However, I think I would have not gone to college in hindsight and self-studied since I am regretting the career field now.

"I try not to think out of the box anymore, but on its edge, its corner, its flap, and under its bar code." - Clint Runge2

Not taking an UI/UX class. I think this would help me be a better front-end developer. And also, not enrolling in a coding boot camp full time like I always wanted to. I learn better in a classroom.
-
Not really dev... but / hey all asshole / impatient, idiot drivers : fuck you. I think you should have your licenses taken away - or be shot.7
-
I think I'm ready for freelancer work
but I'm not sure how this will effect my life
I want to do this for extra bucks, and eventual freedom -
Feature not a bug...
My work laptop has started rebooting almost every night.
It's not clear why, but I sort of think of it as a feature now.
I have an ultra-wide monitor, plus another wide next to that one, and a bunch of virtual desktops.
I often think "ok everything is where it is that's good" but coming in reality with a bazillion things open across all the desktops and screens sometimes when I come back the next day ... it's actually just a lot of mess / overhead to pick up where I was.
Sometimes I think we introduce a lot of complexity to solve a problem and ... actually it's just more complexity if you're not already 8 layers deep.5 -
https://learnbchs.org - The web framework consisting of OpenBSD, C, httpd and SQLite.
What do you think? Not sure if I should call C-webdevs insane or genius (maybe both).
I think the code will either end up very secure or with more severe bugs than any PHP website ever had. Please talk me out of trying it.7 -
How many of you up for a Try Not To Laugh challenge (under AI supervision) ?
Go now and enjoy LIVE at

Share what you think I can make better ? I am just quarantining anyways , so.5 -
Y'all, holiday break has started and I'm not being productive. I think there's something genuinely wrong with me!
-
Hmm, can't think of anything to rant about from this whole year?
Am I living an awesome life, or am I not?4 -
really?? we have not seen any new framework for months now, or even any news of it...
I think we are on the stable phase now...
...or I could be wrong. :/ -
Happy Monday! (Not)
I have experience with Angular. I think it's nifty.
Angular || React || Ember || Kendo?
Edit: what is your favourite, and why?2 -
Just started using Arc browser this week. I looooove it. I’m not a web dev though, so what do web devs think of it?3
-
I still don't get what the impostor syndorme is precisely, so either I'm good enough to not get it or I constantly sell myself as an impostor.
Edit I think I fucked up english grammar...3 -
HI I started to learn Angular I have created some small projects but sometimes I think I shall not be good at programming. I always think about how will I improve it. I am doing lots of practics but the thing is that I forget concept after some time
I am not feeling well and always think that I will never be a good programmer.1 -
I got a call for interview in a company with glassdoor review 2.5! Big company with stable business!
Should I go? A friend said I should not?
What do you think ladies and gentlemen??2 -
Me: Working on trying to salvage our shitty project
PM: EMAILS ARN'T BEING SENT FOR OUR TEST ENVIRONMENTS
Me: Ohkay.. Is it urgent? I fixed it last time.. Seems like the other devs broke it.
PM: YES WE NEED TO PASS ALL OUR TEST CASES ASAP
Me: Well maybe it should be failed if it keeps breaking all the time..
PM: SEND ME AN EMAIL WITH WHAT YOU CHECKED AND OVERNIGHT YOU CAN FIGURE IT OUT WITH OUR TERRIBLE OFFSHORE TEAM
Me: uhm... Ok
Also me:2 -
Should I point out on an interview, that I've been approached by other companies too? will that help me or not? what do you think?1
-
I know you think you understand what I said , but what you don't understand is what I said is not what i mean😵😵😵😵1

hey guys what do you think about MR.ROBOT serial? how much its close to reality? you recommend or not? actually i'm not a series fan but i like to taste.6
-
I think the reason why BigCos simply suck is that there are too many warm bodies that do not care.
I try not to give a fuck but I still do...1 -
Well, the time has finally come to tackle Typescript! So far it's not too rough-so I think I might put some effort into levelling up my redux skills too so I can put them together...maybe!1
-
I know it !
But when it finally works (reSharper) it's really not 'that' bad.
But my poor AMD Ryzen 9 3900X is not good enough I think lol.
About 30 seconds init time.2 -
I don't think people need to study algorithm. They should code a lot and after a while they would develop a gut feeling if something can be optimized or not, and if yes then how. I think doing a lots of maths and physics will help too.
-
"You should not bother about making your code so clean, I want features not pretty files"
As I'm leaving this job next week, someone will have to continue this project after me
I think we can say that my boss sucks -
I have been writing unit test cases after writing the code. Not the other way around. I do not think this is TDD . Is it ATDD?
Should I keep going on with this?
Thoughts?8 -
[POOL]
What do you have: a "dev" or a "workplace" directory in your home? I always had a "dev" for my projects and I think I'm not alone, but I can't be sure10 -
Tried using Eclipse to practice coding, never understood how to properly set up. It could be not beginner friendly or just a total noob. I think both.1
-
Do u know why test engineers earn more than developers. I think that they are pretended as a coder but not true3
-
Ux/ui I like scroll bars and think they are useful in mobile. But it appears the standard not to display it these days? Opinions?4
-
Well, I haven't done almost anything not dev related for the last 6 years, but I think the thing that helped me the most is gaming1
-
What is the average working hours of a freelance web developer??? I work 12hrs a day..but i think that's not enough!3
-
Not so dev related...but i want to share it. Do you see that in yhe right corner the title is "Animals" but in the picture the is a boat with title "boat". I think the boat is not an animal3
-
After not using cars for almost 5 years now, I think my computer would be faster and more accurate at recognizing street signs for the captcha

"I don’t think of myself as an artist. I know some designers consider themselves such, but I can’t. This is not to say that I don’t hope that our work has artistic merit. Anyway, I never know how someone could proclaim himself or herself to be an ‘artist’; I think it should be a designation best left for others to bestow, much like ‘genius’ and ‘asshole’." - Alexander Isley1

confession: before today i had no idea what rust was. i read a wikipedia article and i'm still not sure, but i think i'm obligated to love it

With stock market down, I want to get into some future tech trends cheap but which ones are good.... honestly don't think I can make much unless the prices jump 50-100%...
I see clean tech and 5g, but not really sure what 5g means. Not sure what the wow factor is...
Clean tech feels like we need to do it or we're screwed though I was also thinking about buying oil... But that's probably b not a good long term.
Crypto I don't think it doing to well and sorta goes against clean tech? So what else is there and thoughts?20 -
I think what is not being understood is we want nothing to do with these pieces of shit or their ridiculous waste of life.2

!Rant
I think I am going overboard with Java streams and my fellow programmers will hate me. I have not written a loop for... a month? My code is starting to be extremely semantically dense. -
You should not think of yourself as a person as much as a concept.
For example, I think I grew out of my antigermanist phase. German people are fine.
My new concept is "let's do anal", a line of t-shirt.
Thank you.1 -
Guys, I know this is not stackoverflow, but do you think it will be an overkill to use RxJava for the event handling of a simple uber like app ?
-
I am a student from IADT and I do not understand for loops and think that I failed my programming test7
