Backend Dev: what will you be working on?
Frontend dev: i will be creating a nice animated loader. You?
Backend Dev: i will be working on optimizing the backend so that no one can see your loader.
🤣🤣🤣🤣7 -
FUCK!! It's been 3 days in the new office.
Can't find a single to rant about.
Why is everyone is so fucking nice??13 -
Fellow ranter who ever posted about fakeupdate.net thank you so much for the entertainment, a colleague forgot to lock their computer and came back to a heart attack and we had a nice laugh8
-
OH MY FUCKING GOD!
My startup actually made the first place in an accelerator program! We'll start negotiations on Monday!! I'm so fucking excited!
Plus I met a really nice person on the train on my way back home! What the actual fuck is that a nice day!19 -
When people write me at 5am on facebook, they think, how nice and organized my life is so I am getting up early. Truth is, I have not slept yet.4
-
Friend: So, you can program
Me: Yeah
Friend: nice, can you hack a Facebook profile?
Every.

Today is my last day at this job.
Can't tell you how happy I am to be leaving this place in about 7 hours.
Starting my new job in January, so I get 4 weeks of nice vacation/ family time.8 -
Female friend in office
"It feels so nice that we have a computer science grad with us. How else would have we managed to set up the printer without you?"
Not kidding. This actually happened with me.7 -
My company just made a nice design on the first door you see after entering the building.
Im so happy they started counting dev rooms from 034 -
So today I found out I'm a Senior Developer. Was I told nope. Just found it on my contact details on the company address book. Ask boss about it he said yes I am. Would have been nice to have been told I was promoted...8
-
Friend of mine passed away several years ago. All other friends known me as Cooke monster so finally got my tattoo. He drew it for me before he died so it's quite personal! But nice to have something to remeber him for!18
-
@dfox Can we have the option to include code blocks in rants and comments? So that they're formatted as monospace text? I mean we can get around it with pictures, but it would be a nice option to include code with an appropriate font. =)12
-
Docker: "Build, Manage and Secure Your Apps Anywhere. Your Way."
Also Docker: "To run Linux in Windows, sacrifice 3 virgins."14 -
Client: We are really happy with your work and enjoy working with you!
Me: Thanks, happy to hear that! I appreciate our collaboration as well.
Client: Great! So... can we get a discount?
Why do people think that being nice also means being cheap!?14 -
Whats so nice about devrant is that you see more or less the same people from time to time everywhere.
In comments, notifications, rants, all that.
It's like a party full of nerds like you where it's actually fun to get to know people.:D12 -
After a nice clean reinstall.. some partitions didn't wanna play nice so I got my hacking tools and hacked away.7
-
So I've developed a nice looking website for a client after designs were approved and what not. After seeing it in the flesh, the the client is now trying her hand at redesigning it herself in WORD. I am so done.2
-
So a friend of mine asked me today "got any proposals?"
Me: "yeah, in fact I got two of them"
Friend: "... Nice!"
Me: "yeah. Both were from my client"
Friend bursts out laughing.1 -
Person- Hey! are you a game developer?
me- yea.
person- Nice! so, you make games, right?
me- NO! I fuckin' scroll through my Twitter feed!
person- Ahm hah.. ok then, ttyl.
me- T.T6 -
I have a 6 month license on PyCharm Professional Edition.
I don't think I'll be learning Python anytime soon, so if anyone wants to use it, go ahead and redeem it.
599P6-E7P3E-MH7CW-B2T7Z-GNKE9
PS: Would be nice if you could comment that you used it, so that other people know that it's gone.30 -
My manager is so obsessed with machine learning that during a discussion today, he asked whether we could use ML to find the distance between a pair of latitudes & longitudes. He is a nice guy, though.5
-
Anyone here put Easter eggs in their code, and care to share examples?
I made a custom script to rotate a log file once a day in my program. So at the bottom of the roll I added a nice little print. See attached.16 -
Wasn’t hired once because “we are startup and we don’t like your favorite meme that much”. Yes, this is what happened.
Their company was gone in two months.
They said my favorite meme wasn’t so nice
Their bodies are now food for the mice9 -
So I found out I'm only earning 50 cents higher than the minimum wage. Nice, very nice...
... And that's why the backlog of unfinished tasks keep piling up. You get what you pay for.12 -
Notice :
Citizens are advised to store all their passwords into either text files or Google Keep, OneNote, Evernote so that it would come in handy whenever you forget the Password.
Please share this among your family and friends.
Have a nice day :)11 -
Aww SwiftKey, after two letters youre suggesting the right password, that's so nice of you...
Wait a minute... WHY DO YOU EVEN KNOW THAT?
You're not a password manager and you don't do that with other passwords, what's wrong with you?4 -
Received my new mechanical keyboard from Amazon today. It feels so much better than our standard company Dell keyboard. And it looks so great. Also it has nice LEDs with several modes. Love it14
-
So some ass**** stole the battery of my scooter over night and I got too late to work and missed an important meeting. Nice. Thanks for nothing?5
-
This feeling when you search for something on ddg, find StackOverflow answer that is working solution

"You can't vote on your own post"
Damn, smart past me :D4 -
Well I'm on the way to an interview for an IT Management internship at Logitech, wish me luck I'm so fucking scared.
Any tips will be nice because I'm so fucking afraid I will fuck it up18 -
My wk89 post got literally one upvote, but that single one came from dfox. So I got that going for me, which is nice :)1
-
Starting a third year computer science course. Lesson 1 of web API production. Git. Lecturer tells us to do a different branch for every commit so it's easy to roll back.
Nice.8 -
omg apple does not like to make things easy! Trying to set up developer accounts for a company but a company can't be an agent? a team member who isn't an agent can't create certificates or keys?
Android development seems so easy and nice now6 -
Me: So, tell me more about what you want me to code.
Friend: Well... Do something nice.
Me: Like?
Friend: I don't know, I thought you're the expert...
Me: You motherf...1 -
Heck yeah, I finally have a Raspberry Pi Zero. It's so cool and small and cheap and I'm gonna make so many groundbreaking things with it!
*20 minutes later*
O, nice, it comes with Kodi. I suppose that's good enough for now.
*3 months later*
chirp...chirp...3 -
A friend of mine (who is French) has made a little firewall for Windows (idk why).
He sends me the binary, so I tested it and got around it fairly easily.
Replied to him: "I have a nice name for it: Maginot line" -
So youtube-dl has finally been reinstated. Took them long enough, but I guess that means that GitHub's statements weren't just words. Nice!
https://github.com/ytdl-org/...4 -
"The time spent on the assignment should not exceed 8 hours."
nice, so a full working day just for an interview take home task

Hello guys... i came across this app on play store as a recommendation... and i am really impressed with it.. such a cool idea and an awesome place to rant... so i signed up and here goes my first rant... nice to meet you guys..15
-
I have made a stack overflow question with "JavaScript" tag. And got fucking 12 views! Twelve!!!
Nobody fucking likes me! :(
But I got "tumbleweed achievement" so I got that goin' for me which is nice.7 -
So went to my bros graduation at CMU. Weather turned out to be really nice unlike forecasted.
And I was even able to meet myself 😀... Sort of7 -
Hiring Manager: Thanks for interviewing for the position. But the things we listed as "nice to haves" are actually required for the job so we aren't going to hire you.7
-
Fuck it, I'll learn Rust.
The syntax looks otherworldly, but it's supposed to be nice and fast, which I currently need, so...13 -
When you sit down to work on a project and you just can't figure it out. Next thing you know it's 3am, so you clamber into bed. Nodding off, nice and cosy when suddenly: What's that brain? You've figured it out?1
-
IDK, there's something about PCB circuits with all the components on it... For some reason I find them very calming, I think they could even help me with my anger management and/or sleep problems (if I had any).
They are so nice and neat.. so strict and in order. Everything has its own place and its own path. Everything in there has its purpose. That's so nice :)
// triggered by https://twitter.com/iXsystems/...random just a tag that's weird how many tags can i assign? relax circuitry umm.. okay..? pcbgasm ocd maybe? wtv pcb order4 -
the dev team freaked our boss out by being overly nice and polite to him for a whole day .
Normally we're pretty laid back and tease one another, so he was pretty worried.
You know you have an awesome and tight-knit team when your boss threatens to fire all of you for being too nice and you can laugh about it.
#AwesomeBoss1 -
Year 0:
Coworker:
ARGH! I fuckin hate JavaScript!
Me:
Keep going! Everyone started as a novice. You'll manage.
Year 2:
Coworker:
Hmm. JavaScript is actually pretty nice!
Me:
See, you are a successful junior now!
Year 4:
Coworker:
ARGH! I fuckin hate JavaScript!
Me:
Well, so you eventually reached senior level. Nice!1 -
Ok folks so u complained and I listened. Today instead of prepping for technical interviews... And bc the weather is nice... I am doing Spring cleaning!6
-
Well I’m 6 weeks into my first Dev job. They haven’t really given me much to do, so the boss let me come up with my own project for an internal app, which is nice.5
-
Attended an interview, interviewer started calling me sir (Which I took as sarcasm).
Giving so many interviews, I was use to basic oops question. This guy just offers me a job based on my resume.
Felt nice but fishy.3 -
I read a lot about people complaining about their shitty jobs. Some of us actually have nice jobs, but could really need more coworkers.
Wouldn't it be nice if devRant had the possibility to post job offers? Of course, no recruiters allowed, just awesome job offers, so we can all work together on some nice projects.
PS: Could really need some help at work :-)5 -
So apparently this is how you get kids to learn coding.
Graphics after pretty nice but coding by dragging commands takes too long...16 -
Just was at the FOSDEM beer party and although it was so busy that the line to get a beer took insanely long to get shorter, I met some really cool people and it was quiet nice to be among so many people who mostly share the same mindset!
Two days to go 😁 -
So there I was productivity coding away in my office since early in the morning it was about noon when my coworkers kept saying. " Hey have you seen how nice it is outside." "Wow it's really nice out there" and " hey you should really go outside and get some fresh air".
So I'm all ok, cool it's lunchtime I'll check it out. So I go outside and I'm out there for 30 seconds when a bee lands on my face and stings me just under my eye.
Ouch! WTF! No No No it is not nice outside at all. Infact it is painful outside.
so now the rest of my day is ruined all I can feel is my face throbbing and I can't think about anything anymore but my face in pain. Amazing how one little insect can ruin days of coding.
Don't listen to the muggles stay inside.4 -
dfox, trogus - you guys are so incredibly nice!
thank you so much!
(ordered stickers from the shop hoping some of the money goes to the guys and they put an extra free swag without me asking for it)1 -
I do love u ranters

Whenever I feel like I’m not good enough at my trade, I come here to read a few rants. While I am a failure, it’s so nice to know there are even more disappointing devs around.13 -
!rant
Last night I had a minor hiccup with a iOS/Android CI service I absolutely love (BuddyBuild), so naturally I contact their support to address the issue and ask about potential new plans. A couple minutes later I find out I'm talking with the CEO! Turns out he's a really nice and receptive guy who cares a lot about their service!
How cool is that!? It was nice to tell him how much I've enjoyed their product and about the headache it's saved me!3 -
Right.. time to update branding for a work project, which I don't normally touch.
So I open Fork, open the local copy, pull from remote, and...... Well, see the screen snip.
🤔😶😭
It must be so nice to work with people who ACTUALLY GIVE A FUCK about their codebases. I, unfortunately, can only imagine that..17 -
Some nice person created a Github repo to show some usage examples for a service.
He is even nicer because, besides some example credentials, he added live credentials too.
But I think they are safe: he commented them out, so nobody can read them.2 -
I'm doing my CV in Vue with Bulma and everything is all nice and neat. I have a nice and neat 'skills' section that you can see pictured, and it's nice and neat. However, what is not very nice and neat is Firefox (and chrome's) print to PDF thing which ignore the nice little semi meaningless dots that I have, which is so fucking asdfghjkl;27
-
Look honey! I optimized the code in such a way only a few lines are needed, I'm so happy with this efficiency. Her reply: "Ooooh, that's nice!! <blankstare>". Yeah, uh, we'll talk later.8
-
Vue is pretty nice to use so far. Easier than I thought it would be.
Library wise, Vuetify is satisfying. Damn this looks pretty. Why did I not find this sooner?13 -
That moment you realise you spent the day skinning Jira to look like atoms material dark theme because a key system is down preventing testing😊
-
A friend of mine wanted to name her flowers, and was supprised when I had so many nice suggestions. I just suggested names of linux distributions, programming languages and python packages 😅
-
I'm feeling so lonely at work. No one is interested in talking to me. They talk only when they need something done.
I've been and I did my best being nice to everyone ☹️18 -
So, I'm going to switch from Windows 10 soon. Yay :)
So, which distribution do you think would be good for me. I'd like a nice one with a good desktop environment that is good to program on.20 -
"Nice, you added a loqding animation, but why does that content take so long to load?"
Because the animation is the content 😂😂😂 -
The day I got hired because my (now) boss saw me showing off my super powers as a dev to some fellow students. He liked that I was so energetic.
Now I make quite a lot of money (for my age) and learn so fucking much. By the way, I'm only 17, so it's quite nice.6 -
!rant
wk101 responses are the best ones so far in my opinion keep them coming. It would be nice if we could filter (recent, top, etc.) on search results.1 -
!rant
@dfox
Many people use snippets of code in their Rants, so it's maybe a nice feature to be able to add codeblocks to rants..7 -
!Rant
So @-ScratchOs just gave me my 1000 +1.
I want to thank you all for being so awesome. I have never felt more welcome than here. Thank you @dfox and @trogus for making this.
No one in my school shares my passion for coding and so it is very nice to meet people with the same hobby here.
Also, why are all the cats you can select for your avatar so chubby?4 -
Work: We're gonna add another project to you. Nice, so thats 3 now. Oh, and get 2 of them done by the end of this month please. Thanks.
Me: ...
Me: ha ha ha3 -
When you actually use your knowledge and experience to solve a problem outside work, that's a real nice feeling. Had to distribute a bunch of files, so just threw together a Vue page in 20 min. Fully interactive with filtering and all. Nice!2
-
I went out partying with couple of friends last night, it was nice ...
So I met this girl, she was nice and beautiful, out going basically we were getting each other's vibes and the mood was right ... We had a drink together and everything was cool until I learned her last name ...🤣
I couldn't help it I cracked up it was so intense ...
her last name was "chrooto"
I know that I have ruined my chances with her, but I don't think I could've been able to hold it5 -
So just installed the new vs code user setup thing and oh my god!
Finally a custom title bar that actually looks good on windows instead of a nice dark application with a blinding white titlebar :-D7 -
So I've got my first sort of proper gig. I'm tasked with writing...
A goddamn minecraft plugin in java.
Well, it's actually rather fun strangely enough. My ideas of payment were not declined but rather accepted, the other devs are nice and everything is going well for now.
Also: Do expect a mental breakdown post next week or so4 -
!wk119_compliant
Sadly I don't have an nice view in a less than 20km range from my place. so this is the indoor.
FLASH ON View:1 -
I once wrote a few really nice creative generic classes for an ASP.net project. Later, senior decided that we have to rewrite the whole thing, so he initialized a new project from a template and added my files in helpers/ as a starting point.2
-
I met a really really nice guy who I'd love to meet irl, @ribchinski
He's the type of guy who's so chill you'd want to fuck a goat with him, you get me?7 -
My wife was done with exercises on her electronic 88 keys piano.
Me: I also know something nice.
Her: oh so?
Me: (repeatedly typing key #3)
Her: (thinking)
Her: C hacking?!5 -
Oh man don't you just LOVE the weekend? I have no fucking idea but I have so much energy and motivation now... I might even try to pull a all nighter on my personal project !
Anyway have a nice weekend everyone! 😁3 -
*right click on image*
[nothing happens]
*spams right click, thinking about getting a new mouse*
[small modal shows up: "this content is protected!"]
*laughs in developer's console*
I never thought I'd get to see a website that "protects" its content by disabling right click, I'm moved :')3 -
Just found a nice hosting provider that actually have some customers in the taxi and transport segment.
The provider offer emailsservices, webhosting, dns services. So far so good.
The only problem that I can find here is that everything is hosted on one single IP.
The DNS-servers, the mail server and webserver is one fucking server.2 -
Now that I have a ++, I changed my BG Color so that it looks nice but I think we need a full color picker now.
BTW @dfox any ++ privileges on this? Maybe you could add my Drafts feature 😉😏7 -
Really wish we would see some OLED equipped laptops, we have massive 4K OLED TV's and Tony high resolution smartphone displays, why can't we just get a nice 1080p OLED panel, makes so much sense in a laptop IMO3
-
So I'm reading up on the HomeAssistant documentation to prepare for submitting to their repo. I was really excited to find such a nice repo to contribute to, but i suddenly had to reconsider when i found this:10
-
Hey guys! I need help!
I started to write a blog about the stuff I currently investigating: How to combine React, Oauth and Node.js.🤯
However, my penmanship isn’t that good.
So I’m looking for some nice stock images for good meme and funny pictures to support my writing.
Does Anybody know where I could download a nice bundle instead of google them one by one?🤔4 -
A musician friend of mine: SOMEONE SHOULD IMMEDIATELY DEVELOP A LANGUAGE CALLED C♭ OR I'M GONNA FIND A NERD AND BEAT HIM TIL HE DOES SO!
(She's actually a nice person.)3 -
my job is to build to spec and get things working
NOT to fuck around with git's exotic features so the fucking commit history "looks nice"
its called a version control system for a reason. SO YOU CAN CONTROL YOUR FUCKING VERSIONS
IF YOU WANT A NICE PLOT, GO READ A BOOK OR WATCH A DRAMA MOVIE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA11 -
How many times do I have to tell my co-workers that testing isn’t just about proving your shit works in nice ways. It’s also about proving it works with sparse or inadequate data. Also, regression testing is a thing so do it!2
-
So, I got this new coworker of mine, he's 5 years older than me and says he's got a loooot of experience with html, css und javascript. Nice. Boss wants us to blur some text on a website, I show him how to do it with css "filter: blur(4px)".
5 minutes later he's all proud and says "done". I think nice, check the code - and see this moron having put an <img> png in there, having blurred the text with photoshop. Short memory, anyone?2 -
Wow so WindScribe VPN apparently now has DNS ad blocking sort of like PiHole.
So no more annoying popups and video ads... Or messages from the sites saying I'm using an ad blocker!
And the kicker is I bought a life time subscription for $40 a few years ago.
Guess they were able to grow nice and big.9 -
I save about 2h commute (so 4h/day) which is nice.
Also not constantly getting interrupted by colleagues1 -
That f**king moment when you have integrated an Awesome feature in your app in less than an hour and then spent a whole day trying to properly resize a vector drawable so UI looks nice.... because user just care about interface!!!4
-
"Wow, that's so sweet of you, I'm kinda impressed you managed to pull that off, you are a very kind and nice person"
So much sugar, choking on that sweetness !!!!2 -
I started thinking it would be a good idea to write a shopping list in json so it's nice and categorised.
Then I thought what people who saw my list in the shop would say.3 -
some guy recommended Replika app.
trying it now. so far, my first positive impression was with a thought "nice generic dodge, buddy"8 -
Why so many recent questions about which code editor to use?
P.S. Nice to see vscode getting some recognition.8 -
One of the many reasons why I like Linux more than Windows, yesterday I upgraded from Ubuntu 17.04 to 18.04 and it didn't need to restart. In fact updates in general only rarely require a restart, and it never forces them upon me9
-
Although it's still freezing here (0C) finally some nice sunlight... so finally took a moment to take it all in.
Even with all the "problems" and stress I've been feeling the last few weeks, just looking around now, my only thought is "You know what? Life ain't so bad..."5 -
I am so disgusted by how people keep asking me how to hack Facebook... As if it's even possible? What the hell are they even thinking?!
- oh, hi there. I'm your Assistant. Nice to meet you 😊1 -
I feel like this app needs a notification counter like numerous other social media apps on Android.
I want to get notified, if someone commented on my rant and so on.
Would be nice, if both of the devs could see this message :)18 -

To those of you who don't know about this, if you have a Microsoft account, you can sign up for Visual Studio Dev Essentials with it. Doing that gives you 3 months free access to Pluralsights, which is a really nice website to learn new stuff. Do check it out.2 -
Man, making scripts for random shitty tasks is so god damn nice. Like pushing a new version in a repo. Throw together a script to find metadata and kubernetes files and identifies and update versions automatically, then commit, tag and push. Simple script, not even 100 lines of bash, but saves so many silly mistakes.16
-
Devrant is so full of people venting, I want to be an aisle of positivity, something you know you wanted for years on devrant!
First of all, remember that whatever your boss tells you, you should know what you can do and never let them intimidate you!
Whatever your mates tell you, the Issue probably isn't just you.
Remember to listen to many differentstyles of music. Keep Hydrated! Be nice to people, they'll be nice in return.
How about you come into the comments to have some nice talk? Remember: Only spread positivity 🌻🥀🌺
Ps: Havent ranted in such a long time. What's new?8 -
As you might have figured out my name is Kim. There is a gtld .kim. So my mail address is just subject@lastname.kim, which is nice.
Also always hilarious seeing people's reactions when you tell them where to write an email to8 -
So I just spent over two hours trying to get...5 elements to align nice and even. Sometimes I would think I had it then..nope. Everything is thrown way off.
The one thing I've learned so far is to throw everything into more divs if something isn't working, and maybe that'll work6 -
dfox? I think it would be nice to make the different tabs 'swipeable' so that you can swipe from one tab to another, it is especially handy for the peopke with thos super big screens :D5
-
So it seems that lately I got addicted to minimalistic wallpapers, they just look soo nice on both desktop and mobile devices.
Anyone recommends any good zip file with a bunch of those?
*some websites will do the job too
*Cheers*4 -
Kinda positive rant: Started my new job today after I quit the previous one (or as we started to call it the "bad place"🔥). Lot's of nice people and so far a really nice atmosphere. A bit of information overload. They are working with a lot of technologies which isn't necessarily a bad thing but it kinda scares me. Also made me sad I have to start all over again making friends...I just felt really "new" you know.4
-
A nice lil hotel, family style.
People come and go when they want.
Living together in the hotel like a family - for just having people around, someone to talk, learning interesting stuff.
Cooking, baking, maybe some livestock.
Colder weather, somewhere rural.
Tops if there is no internet available and the only news you can get is via radio transmitter, so I can just shut out all the madness of the world.
A nice quiet place with a social atmosphere and friendly people. Calm and soothing.1 -
me being overly nice with a lost soul that commented in one of my few SO answers. from 3 years ago1
-
Working on a project with tests is so nice.
I love tests. Well, I hate making them, but now refactoring is so easy :] -
So I had a nice conversation with man who develops web for around 30 years , he said he loved angular 2 , but he doesn't get the reason of html5 , I just look at him with a straight face thinking " god , you testing me ?"4
-
:( why can't i have nice things, like linux elementary os?
it's beautiful, but so full of bugs that's barly useable.10 -
Just got reminded in the comments of another rant, that theres a .se domain, so my first thought was to register per.se (torilla tavataan) - sadly it wasn't available, since some football club/team is owning it, what a nice domain name 😂1
-
Finally got to flash stuff onto my phone again.
Damn, Magisk is nice.
AOSP is so smooth too.
And I replaced GSF with microG. :^)6 -
Oh thank god for coffee.
Having one of those days where every slight criticism feels like a personal attack (they're not, I have very nice co-workers) and every small task makes me want to just go back to bed because I'm so useless...2 -
One of my screens is currently not woking (out of three).
BECAUSE THIS STUPID ADAPTER IS NOT WORKING!!!
So I hang the ERD for my side projects on it... it's nice to have it on hand imo😎 -
Looking through job openings in case I get shafted so bad here I end up leaving, I see a nice sounding Java role and think "oohhh dis sounds good".
Required experience: Using the Eclipse IDE.
*closes page, cries* -
Couldn't save a file because it showed me that this file is opened somewhere else. So I go to the resource monitor to check for its handlers, but only explorer.exe showed in list. I restart explorer and get back to the code. For the first time..... for the first time in my life I hoped that this won't work. I press Ctrl+S, andddd, file was saved.
So, basically, windows's explorer can lock files. Nice job Microsoft. Nice job. -
Decided to make an edit of my avatar so that I could have an avatar that was a bit more accurate, and it looked nice and all in Photoshop. But then I exported it and fuck this2
-
Noob here! nice to meet you :). Hope to learn python!
Any suggestion?
Thank you so much and greetings from florence, Italy :)7 -
Today our webdev prof: "you must use bootstrap! You are not allowed to define your own classes!"
He's a nice guy, but I don't like frameworks, especially if they rely on other frameworks so much that you basically have another language.3 -
Why do we never talk about angular? It was way ahead all the time. Like you got all these nice things with Vue 3 and React 42, but bro angular got it all for years..
It feels so nice learning it.7 -
So we had to register for placements.. and the company sent email with plain text password.. and thats the password i registered with! nice!
BTW.. its one of the biggest company in IT industry globally.2 -
So I took a leave on 3/16 to attend an event.
I declared it in early February.
It was accepted and validated today, 3/23. Nice timing1 -
So you're using devrant from browser. Hmm. You're a man of principles. Understandable. Have a nice day.1
-
So it's Monday and its holiday in my country. But I have a deployment to do. Anyway I have this buddy accompany me which is nice.6
-
OK so there's been so many rants about Wanna Cry I sorta wanna cry. But anyway, cannes across this article (great blog IMO, not written by a monkey) has a nice time line of how all this happened and what should be done.
https://stratechery.com/2017/... -
Today I didnt wanted to rant about some trivial stuff here, so just wanted to wish you all a nice day!6

Hey guys, this is my first rant. I like this friendly community very much so far and hope it stays that way. So here it goes...
I have this Trello app on my Android phone. It has this nice feature - calendar... But week starts on Sunday. So I started investigating, how I could change it to Monday. Googled and found that you have to change the language, which I did. Now I wish I had this nice ISO date format yyyy-MM-dd, but this motherfrakker doesn't allow me to!
How much I hate this little piece of shit! What does he want from me? Download the sources, add the functionality, compile for a week and flash it into my Xiaomi?!13 -
Using devrant on windows phone. Windows phones are so so so nice. Why microsoft did you stop windows phones. They are the best OS and greatest experience. Bring back windows phone please.11
-
honestly im all for devrant becoming sone sort of alternative to StOve, or branched off into one, you all are so nice and fun to talk/listen to, and ypu dont treat this platform as a dick measurement contest5
-
Be nice, they said.
StackOverflow should be more welcoming, they said.
C00lHoker99 is a new contributor. Be nice, and check out our Code of Conduct, they said.
Oh, for fucks sake...
Nobody is going to be nice to drunk hobo that shits in the middle of the library.
Duplicate, no MCVE, bluntly offtopic and "do my job plz asap" questions doesn't deserve any niceness from community.
If you feel like SO isn't welcoming, that's certainly your fault.
And what now? Instead of answering good questions and being **nice to nice fellows** we are swimming in Pacific Crapocean. Nnnnnniiiiiicccceeee2 -
can't possibly think of a good enough rant to earn that 750++.
seems like a nice stress ball! but ranters block. haha so relateable right? ... right? pls.2 -
I've just seen this issue on Github. What's so special would you ask? I've developed Aria2App, I'm feeling so nice.1
-
I fucking love the timeline feature on Google maps. Makes it nice and easy to remember where you went on a trip so you can revisit on Street view for example1
-
Feeling so good after a fresh workout and shower. Heals the mind from mental bullshit. Cleanseth. Finally summer is here when i can go out in nice weather and train1
-
Just published my first internal app, which is nice
We’ve also now started using GitLab, so I need to work out an easy way for use to transfer all of the reports from SourceSafe.
There’s only about 500+ of them, should be fun2 -
I find it's so much easier to hate someone you're hated by than to hate someone who likes and is nice to you.
Even if they're both assholes7 -
IT decides to update machine policy today;
Chrome becomes an "officially" allowed program, so they force a homepage, disable all extensions, and disable incognito... Nice.
Postman doesn't work either.2 -
Trying out VSCode, and... I'm trying to like it, but I just don't. There are certainly nice features that I like, but there's also so much I find inconvenient. Microsoft's design principles and all...3
-
Psu >> cheap, low running cost power supply
So... Gonna turn my first psu in a low cost power supply for my projects.
Found this beauty, only 250W and has the description of all wires with Amps...
Nice :D8 -
TLDR: I've become what I used to hate (without actually knowing it).
I used to hate large companies and their way of working (bureaucracy and stuff). I always thought that I'd work for start-ups, until I started developing my own stuff after work cause now I have to work 9-5 instead of the 9-inf before. Well, it was nice sharing this. When I started working here I thought I would not be able to handle it. But it seems nice so far.
Cheers everyone.1 -
Pycharm could be a nice tool, if only it was not nagging about the professional version and the tools related to it so often. Shit can't even find the jupyter notebook crap. 🙄
NGL, open science feels like anarchy.13 -
I don't have a job so uhhhh I would suggested don't go dressed like a slob look nice like not to nice but like worthy like a button up shirt blue jeans and combed hair and shoes nice looking one burshed/combed3
-
There's an old adage that says: "Beware the programmer with a screwdriver"
... but I've got to say, it's nice to have people so curious about what I'm doing for a change. -
We have a company policy of “you kill it you fill it.” We get free coffee here, it’s nice, I’m happy - but notoriously I’m the only one filling it for the whole company!! So I did the unspeakable today...
Fill the damn coffee. Thanks.6 -
Finally got a project I’ve been working overtime on for the last 18 months or so ready for a 1.0 launch! Still some features we want to build in for down the line, but it’s nice to finally hit a meaningful milestone...
-
React hooks are so good that now I don't want to throw my laptop while developing web apps.
Nice approach.3 -
You know what would be nice? Coding and exploring for personal fun instead of for work! Even outside of work it's become about work now, because the market is so toxicly exigent!
Can't wait to do my own side projects.10 -
I fucking love my SD card reader driver fucking up my whole system. How did that driver even pass BayHub's fucking QA, causing a bluescreen of death right during reboot of Windows? Anyways thanks Microsoft for that nice new bluescreen not telling me anything about the fucking problem why Windows just crashed. But at least it looks nice, so that it's more fun working all night and half a day to find the fucking problem myself. Fuck this.1
-
Added Kali repos to my Debian install, updated, and rebooted to this.
Looks nice, but it's technically advertising hack tools if i'm seen with this background in public so... must change it or i get jail time.5 -
When your old boss writes you excited about their UI update and asks for feedback and it's so horrid and half written you can't muster a nice thing to say back...1
-
The new devRant upgrade is great! So cool that everyone can easily get to podcasts from the menu. Comments interface nice improvements. devRant rules!
-
So, due insanely annoying youtube algo, I just wanted to listen related music to given author - not really what I usually listen to. You know the youtube drill, it's suggestion feed sucks hard.
So I kick in incognito, my typical workaround and wait a second... it prompts me to check out youtube music (didnt know its a thing) and well, well, well... It's actually pretty nice. And solves my suggestion feed problems.
Nice. I have no idea when they deployed that but it's lookin preetty nice (at first glance) and dosent use as much bandwidth. Sweet, exacly what Dubby needed.
(said person who dislikes spotify cuz 60% of music I listen to is just not there) -

I was so tired of work last week and weather was so good I ended up in a bar.
People were so nice there so I got there second day in a row.
I met new nice people and cute female bartender who laughed from my jokes.
Was to drunk and tried so much to make her laugh that l forgot to get her number.
Got there next day asked bartender for her shifts, turned out it was last day of her work, she moved out from city for at least a year. So I got drunk again, and so on 5 days in a row.
Well that’s my life. Lucky me... again.
Karma is so funny I can’t laugh for some time anymore. -
Still in the interview phase.
I am waiting for an answer again.
The interview was 4 hours but I really
enjoyed it. The office looked so nice it could have been at Google inc.3 -
I think it'd be cool if we put together ctf events, so people could learn bash, PowerShell, etc., by solving puzzles. It'd be a nice collaboration, and people can learn at the same time.
-
Wow seeing so many GDPR fails at the moment. This is in the 94% game app. Nice of them to ask, unfortunately you have to accept!4
-
Improvement request: if search doesn’t return anything the search text is erased. It’d be nice if it didn’t so we can amend our search more easily.
Thanks 😀5 -
Can someone get an excerpt from the SO user db and diff it against the DevRant user db and compile a do-not-hire list of the ones that are only on SO?
And yes, I was recently triggered by a SO elitist.
This also assumes all the nice SO members are members of DevRant, which I think is fairly accurate.2 -
Can't decide if I should join this nice internship or let myself enjoy this summer and rest a bit, as I burned out a bit this semester with studying and freelancing.
Why is it so difficult to decide..
The internship is at cool place with nice tech and I feel like its a nice opportunity to grab, but I feel like I need the rest too.
And I have to decide tomorrow. I guess I'm terrible at decision-making sometimes Ffs..3 -
I wish real world would have breakpoints and we could just go back to fix those bugs.
What is wrong with people... Trump, Munich, Ansbach, Nice, Brexit, Orlando... so many bugs to find...3 -
working on a big app, developing front and backend while being focussed on design.
when you have more than 20 different layouts and you're forced to use license free stuff, life's getting harder every day.
why is material design so nice ;(2 -
When you ask your co-worker for help with an issue and while he researches the issue ever so slowly on your computer you see what the problem is but he won't listen and you're to nice to 'dismiss' him...1
-
VLC for android is horrendous when it comes to network storage (and ux, but that's vlc in general). 3500 audio titles in a playlist being vlc-native format via samba-share. The fucking thing just freezes up. 3 minutes later it still doesn't do anything..
Oh you say it's prebuffering? How nice it's able to do so witHOUT READING ANYTHING FROM THE FUCKING DISK IN MY SERVER NICE DUDE IS IT GOING TO FETCH IT TELEPATHICALLY?!3 -
So for game dev we need to do a lot of writing. For an assignment we had to write 3 documents.
First has 8192 words, a power of 2.
Second has 3600 words, a nice square number.
Third is 2002, my birth year.
Just found it nice that they were all randomly a nice number. -
So... Apparently you can do ctrl+backspace in steam's password field and it deletes up to the last space instead of deleting the whole password... Nice.2
-
So I just found out that GL_MAX as a blend func is supported pretty much universally (~92%). Pretty nice considering I kinda gave up my baricentrics based anti-aliasing technique months ago7
-
Gonna be basic af here:
1) Let me use the latest version of my language of choice + libraries
2) Unlimited decent coffee (not starbucks but not folgers either)
3) A nice private office with a door so I can be uber productive if necessary. -
I made this site which is nice. Its a nice project plus I made this for my own. So I decided to book a domain for it.
Turns out every possible name is booked and it started pissing me off. I mean how positive people are for startups.
They made this a real-state business. Saw land acquire it. You never know which one will be next facebook ha!
Then I hit git.com which was parked too. I thought god bless you and your money.2 -
Vim + Tmux = Heaven. I love it.
I'm also getting better at the hotkeys (and there are A LOT of them) so it's a really nice experience when you can do things faster than using a IDE. I only missed the auto complete, so it's very very hard sometimes (DB connection for example).
I may look crazy for going back on time using it but it's so good i can't stop.2 -
This Collab thing is so interesting. I have come back to devRant after a long time and its so very nice to see some insane ideas floating around here. This app is not only about Rants now it is a world of its own. Great work David !!4
-
Trying to port a legacy Firefox add-on I didn't write to WebExtension. Failing so amazingly...
Vague explanations, no tutorials. Mdn has a nice documentation but no tutorials. What's up with that??
Also, JavaScript. And stuff I didn't write. Just perfect. 😑😑😑2 -
I know very little about networking.
So I've got this modem and I am trying to configure it, I am supposed to access to it through a web browser using its IP address. I pinged the broadcast to find the IP, but when I am trying to connect I have a nice "connection refused". So any ideas ?6 -
My work environment at the moment is pretty nice so I'm to blame for my own interruptions. Or to be specific, my stomach is.
Munchies. Coffee cravings. Physiological needs that hit just when I'm starting to feel productive.
Also, devrant and stackoverflow. -
so far, a pretty nice tutorial book about making a parser and interpreter, but when i saw this, my thought was "don't you fucking dare..."
...but he does. flow control via exceptions.
shame.14 -
So my current job wanted to extend my probation for the 2nd time. Amazing feeling to say sorry I quit. New company was paying me £10k more during probation and up to £20k more after probation!
Yeah I feel it was nice! -
Bought me a nice phone charger for just 300€ (350$ USD).
Oh, and it brought a nice usb-c cable too. So happy 😣10 -
The new MacBooks look so nice. And Mojave is pretty nice, and dark theme! And the touch bar! The price is quite high but for the first time I'm actually debating getting one... Almost. But:
Why no escape key apple! You were so close! A physical escape key at the cost of your touch bar being 1 inch smaller! Is that too much to ask!
Many programmers use Mac. I can see why, it's a bsd variant, it's almost a Linux box except it's supported and accepted by the non-geeks of the world.
Many programmers use Vim! It's great!
So it stands to reason that a "not insignificant" amount of Mac users use Vim. Why would you do this to us? Or at least offer a "Vim model! With physical escape key, some nice out of the box vim buttons for the touch bar, a greatly inflated pricetag... Yknow, the works!" But nothing?! You almost had me apple.6 -
Yesterday I was invited to rackspace's offices in San Antonio.
Their people are so nice and they're full of great culture. That's truely a fanatical support those guys offer, also their IT security team is so reliable, they take their work really serious and I mean REALLY serious, I'd love to work at rackspace some day.
Best place ever.1 -
So I discovered WAMP this weekend, it's so nice to not have to work on my prod server when making changes and testing out new projects :)
-
Google showed so many nice things for Android. Curious to see what Apple will show next month .. they are getting left behind ..
-
Im planning to buy a 3D printer soon, and I got a budget about 150$ and I could go higher a bit maybe. So do you guys know any nice 3D printers for that price?2
-
Hope everyone had a chill and relaxed day. I know I did. Sun was nice. People at work were so easy going. Didn't have a segfault all day.
Was to be expected. It was 4/20 all day.11 -
Man i fucking love my current living situation. The people are so fucking nice here, my neighbours almost all go into the same school as me and are therefore technical versed/share the same interests. My School is super awesome due to some of the teachers, where you can learn so much. Really starting to have a passion fo programming although it takes up so much of my freetime, i nearly don't do anything else anymore but I want to learn as much as possible.
It's a super nice day even though I have to study maths all day but fuck it! That doesn't stress me!
And all it really boils down to is how you perceive problems and the like. Either you let it get to you or you don't. Now everyone have a nice day :)4 -
Anyone here tried the Elementary distro? If so, what did you think of it? I'm currently running Ubuntu which I like a lot, but Elementary looks quite nice so might give it a go ☺️14
-
I'm about to spend 1.5 grand for a digital piano hoping I will finally start learning to play. It just looks so nice5
-
I fucking love working for nothing.
Spent 2 hours deleting fields and recreating them because a stupid client wanted so, aaand it got deleted by a git merge. Nice.
Can't wait to out of here. -
So I'm looking at different fonts because I enjoy getting new fonts to try out that look nice... and I'm taken to this site: http://velvetyne.fr/
And while their fonts are nice, their layout is most certainly a disaster. Holy crap, I feel so claustrophobic going to that site...1 -
What is the problem with nowadays colleges? So many of the programmers I know know absolutely nothing regarding encodings and such.
It's pretty nice to see people resorting to hexadecimals to show their Latin characters in HTML instead of simply learning about bloody UTF8 -
Am I the only one who thinks people should get achievements for being top of the day, month and so on? and a general achievement system would be nice and encourage people1
-
So today in college, working on some C program, wrote a nice program just to get compilation error in header file😥😥1
-
One thing I learned over my few work years is:
1.Never do anything for free.
2.Be irreplaceable however you can.
3.Most managers ain't shit so don't play nice and end up getting stomped.7 -
parents : "ohh you wanna be a programmer ehh? so you should get a head start and go to kids programming school"
me 14 years old : "nice!" -
So nice, a good, well structured DTAP environment with Acceptance and Test containing a recent dump from Production so that bugs can be reproduced properly........ *wakes up*
-
So, after looking up on what my old classmates went on doing, I just remembered this nice song.
The refrain goes something like this:
"..Napalm sticks to kids". -
Why is it so hard to find a way to make nice frontend on Visual Prolog. I trully hate interfaces that looks like Windows vista.1
-
So this student right here, not only he was so nice to give me 2 options on what to pick out from test, but both low in value :D The task was to write out all the dividers of a set number :D this guy, made it as simple for him as possible :D2
-
I finally got a nice Ubuntu setup working and running. No wrappers or drivers for my existing wifi dongle but a new one on the way. And Cities Skylines has Linux support so I'm happy. I love it Cheers guys xo1
-
Made a rant about working with shitty legacy code and still doing that. So making something new would be nice.
-
Who designed keyboards? It would be so much easier to learn typing with 10 fingers if it would be symmetrical, like, have the keys be on top of each other like the numpad, the numpad looks nice, feels nice and it's easy to remember, the rest isn't clearly on top of each other and the indentation isn't the same
B is in the fucking middleundefined keyboard 10 finger typing fuck fml symmetry first world problems designers comparison numpad7 -
what is so fucking wrong with solving all the problems you set out to solve and finding new ones to solve goddamn it ????
why do I constantly have to revisit shit I already did ?
There is no expertise except in problems people solve all the time because eventually specific unused knowledge fades !
Note i say eventually, not suddenly and overnight as has been accomplished previously.
Point is why can't I have my nice organized set of solutions to my common use-cases solved and not have to be bugged anymore and compile a nice list of them so I can page through when I need jesus christ !8 -
Thought I'd be nice and open one of those railway gates for a lady (it was broken, so everyone had to in order to get to the trains). Did that, lady thanked me, and dropped the gate on my head....
Great morning so far!6 -
How do grown up people deal with a coworker who never listens, proposes slow and complicated solutions and takes literally one hour of fight to change his mind?
Please note, he's a nice person, so I won't say or do anything that might offend him.8 -
So I was wandering around Lithuania during a time period when the freaks were playing nice. Took some pictures of hot chocolate or coffee can't remember long time ago and some photos of a nice snow covered trail and added some Cyrillic what a nice vacation
True story
This is in Russia immediately after my trip to Lithuania
The people were certainly not twisted freaks who were acting nice for once and leaving me alone instead of acting like fucked up chomo captors. A word I never use but I've been inspired by hearing it over and over
I like it here
There are Tons of people I get along with who have the same interests11 -
When a reboot kills your Docker service and the recovery script bricks the hardisk, it would be nice to have a not so old backup

New startup - our backend stack is php, js, mysql, mongo & redis
Can you guys recommend nice-to-have internal tools that could make out lifes easier? We’ve been using confluence so far and thinking on grabbing a jira license.
Any advice is helpful 🤪11 -
@dfox @trogus, could you add more profile backgrounds?
If so, a gray one would be nice for me.
Perhaps letting users upload pictures for their profile could add more customisability (for the background I mean, love the avatars).3 -
I got a Samsung A71 from job. What changes would you do to make it less "Samsungy"? Like, I like my OnePlus, but the Samsung is arguably better, so it's be nice if I didn't disgust it.5
-
One of the best things I've done to date was change my desktop and phone's fonts to roboto condensed, it looks so nice.5
-
Has anyone else had it where you get so used to saying 'no, this will never work in live as it is' that when it actually becomes pretty good, you struggle to say nice things about it?
-
I'm actually a huge fan of elementary and the appcenter - it's so nice just to have a small collection of well-written, good looking apps that do one thing well3
-
I bought a new laptop literally the day before everyone found out about Windows 11.
Here’s hoping Dell is nice enough to ship with Windows 11 anyway.
Still, I’m planning on dual-booting so it’s not that big a deal16 -
The photoshop failed me in designing the website so is there some nice fast design tool you are using to make some mockups?6
-
PSA : Web developers and web designers should check out https://markup.io
Their pricing model is probably the best I have seen so far. A nice tool to get feedback on your projects from your stakeholders.2 -
Just wanted to say that netlify is so nice. Just 4 clicks and you continuously deploy your Frontend from a git repo. Even free for personal use 👌2
-
Oouh night, why u go so fast? I have to note all that ideas u fucking gave to me of that stupid 700 lines algorithm's issue. Be nice just fucking once or just pass it to day and let me fucking sleep!
-
`Not really a function, but inserting a ${variable} like this is so convenient in JS.`
Closure Compiler will make it IE proof at the end, but I like having nice code in development. -
it's nice too see so many kids are into programming these days. Yes, this is another pokemon rant :)1
-
Nice that devRant looks better on the iPhone X now, but I think there should be some padding at the bottom, so that stuff doesn’t get too close to the home bar thingy7

I'd it'd be nice if we would be able to browse all the images in a timeline.
Currently looking for one picture in particular, but it came across through algo. So very hard to find it again ⊙︿⊙1 -
Any one thoughts/opinions about Azure Service Bus? I'm using it a few months now in combination with a redis cache, cloud storage and the service bus.. works pretty nice so far..
I'm pretty impressed about the upgrade mechanism.. -

@dfox it would be nice to be able to see whom you are following, so you can easily revisit rants you love.

Reinstalled my laptop from a hacked-together Ubuntu server install with i3wm and some other junk to a plain Ubuntu 18.04 install.
Man, I love this Gnome shell so much...
It's really nice when you have a small screen... -
Keep your stuff up to date. always!
It'll save you a lot of work & headaches and time. and we all know, time=€€ so it might even save money.
Besides that it is just cool and very nice to work with the newer things -
I just watched Bahubali, recomended by my Indian Colleague (wth about so many indians on programming, nice coding btw). Its not a big deal (long and boring most of times) but the WAR SCENE! OMG! INSANE hahahha loved it

So today I had my first day of being an intern at DirectCode, this first day was literally amazing! It's a small business but the devs are really nice, currently working on upgrading one of their C# projects. It's a challenge but I enjoy it very much and I'm so excited for tomorrow 😊

I am interested in developing faster with Android. So I look around for options. So far, I found React Native and IONIC.
Then I watch Google I/O 2017.
And there is Kotlin, approved as first-class language for native. Haven't tried it myself, but many syntax I looked into looks nice.
So, native, or hybrid?10 -
eel doesn't compile, kivy won't open a window and pydroid3 won't import pyzbar. so much for a nice coding night.
