Good news: Today my app reached 1 million daily users. 😃😃😃💰
Bad news: It started out as a side project and my shitty code is not scaling well at all. 🙃19 -
My boss saw me tweaking some css via chrome devtool on a prod website.
"Oh, isnt that our html code ? So every one could see it ? You should find a way to hide it, this is not an open source project!"
Didnt even knew how to answer ._.
This not how it works ...15 -
Interviewer: "Show me a cool side-project you have been working on!"
Me: "No! I do not have a cool side-project to show you! I work to pay the bills, and do other things in my spare time! Like go fishing, or play video games. Why the fuck are you assuming that I spend my weekends coding for fun!? Do you call random people asking them questions every Saturday and Sunday just for the LOLs of it?"36 -
note: Not the worst dev I've interviewed but worst I've worked with.
A guy who worked in my company before me "HARDCODED" the entire calendar for next 10 years starting 2016 in dictionaries and arrays in Python for a project.12 -
I made a game. By myself. Took me six months. I struggled to complete it. It was not a good game. I was nearly depressed at the end of the project. But I'm proud I was able to finish it and published it. It made me friends in the industry and it got me my first job. So yeah it was my most successfull project. 😊14
-
Dad : Stop playing games so much
Me : I'm working on a project dad, not playing games
Dad : Then what do you call that *points to my 2nd screen on the side*
Me : That's the project, i'm making that game
Dad : Sure you are
Me : *changes bunch of stuff* see...
Dad : Ok i believe you *leaves the room*5 -
So today I receive 23 emails on DMCA takedown notice from last year project (which is a personal project). I asked Github why they think it is violating their policy, they told me they receive tonnes of complaints from a company, they shared the chat and that's the ex-company that fired me.
Even the project is not related to them, they seem to want to "Cancel" me on Github. Bro this is Github, not Twitter! Cancel culture does not work here.
Some of my IoT projects they flag it In Github, which I believe my ex-company they don't do any IOT projects. How the fuck it is violating their so called "code nondisclosure"?24 -
My teacher told me not to do a project. He said it was much too hard.
I did it.
2 months pass
And then i come to him with anothec project idea.
Same thing goes, nobody believes in me, but i still succeed.
in the aftermath, i was able to create an interpreter AND a compiler in about 1 year... 😁23 -
New dashboard for my personal project (Invoice & Quotation system) built with asp.net core C#. Backend not connected yet.12
-
<This is my first rant, though I've been spectating in readonly mode (ie, without an account) for a while now./>
*Programs all day Saturday adding innumerable lines of code to a new project*
*Builds and runs project*
*Everything not only compiles, but the app works flawlessly*
*Faints*5 -
It happened 2 nights ago.
We had a whatsapp project for the distributed application programming class, my project mate and me were coding for 2 weeks whole day to finish it, especially with the end-to-end encryption feature that teacher asked, till 2 nights ago the project was trash, the private chat wasn't working and and nothing else is done we had only the UI, we was really doomed especially we had 1 more day to deliver the software, and we decided to deliver the project as a trash and get marks from the UI and the presentation.....
Till the night before deadline at 8 pm
I wanted to try fix some interface pictures and to make it better......
The next thing it was 6 am and the project is full working..
When I told my project mate he was not believing, I had to swear multiple times fot him and hat to go and show him the project by the eye.
We delivered the prohect and got 22/25 😁😁😁
It was incredible I didn't believe my self at first place.
Sory for the long story 😓.3 -
My boss gave me a project without any meaningful requirements and asked:
boss: can you finish this in 9 months?
me: well I really can't give you any estimate.
boss: well just do it.
8 months later I summarize all weekly requirements that the client has given and estimated I should be able to finish the project with just 3 months, if only the requirements are ready and not changing from time to time. What a f***ing waste of my time? Why the f*** people do this? And after all this my boss said:
boss: I think we should be able to finish this project faster.
YOU THINK!4 -
A woman can make 4 babies with 4 different fathers in 9 months, right?
Someone decided we need a "rubber band programmer" who bounces around from project to project as needed, and that gets to be me.
So I work on 4 projects, with 3 programming languages, 4 frameworks, and with users in 4 complicated industries, none of which I have experience with.
And my boss wonders why I'm not as productive as everyone who has worked on 1 project for 5 years.9 -
Here's a conversation I had at work:
Me: "this project that I've inherited, aside from the UI problems it has, it also has severe code problems that need to be fixed"
Project Manager: "I don't care about the code. The code is not my concern. Don't waste time on it and just make the app look good."5 -
I did it! My Senior Project is done! Seven months of my life have been spent leading up to the completion of my game engine and it's finally over. It is awful and should never actually be used by anyone, but it's done and that's all that matters.
And as my final middle finger to my school's administration, somebody has to grade a binder comprised of nearly 200 pages. That's what they get for not listening to me when I told them that it was a huge project and adding more to it. Dear administration, f*** you for making my life more stressful than it needed to be.7 -
One of my teammates was pulled to help on another small project... He started to get overwhelmed with being on two projects at once, so I volunteered to help with this project as well. Expecting to just help with his load, he is being transitioned off this project and I'm taking his load...
Lesson: Do not help others.1 -
I think im sick. Not because my whole body hurts, my nose is running and i cant even move, but because i just had the idea that i should unit test my personal project.4
-
Well, my dev sin is...
Basically every project of mine is not commented, is not unit tested and doesn't have any kind of documentation.
But I try to remove my bad habit!1 -
There was fire in the below ground generator, smoke pulled out, in home, alive. Electricity not coming, hope it gets fixed soon.
Thank god i am alive.
And i managed to save my final year project files.
Yay!8 -
The meeting where I was thrown under the bus by my colleagues for "not making enough progress" and removed from the project. It's all good though. That project was a piece of shit and now I'm doing something I actually enjoy with a group of people I actually like.
-
My most successful project was the uni project I had to do and it made me pass the subject hahaha, not that that would count as a real project :/
Okay this was rather depressing...
I should finally start doing something on my own2 -
!rant For my uni project I have been developing a anti ransom-ware price of software which had a main purpose of damage limitation/containment in a business environment.
Some course mates were critising it saying yeah when is ransom ware ever really looked at these days, (they developed a chat app), then the news struck about the Nhs hack and now my Lecturer can't get enough of the project and suddenly the marks for real world application seem to be in my favour 🤘
Again not a rant, just a nice feeling after spending so long on my work.5 -
Finally I understand what it is like to use a language that does not have any extra resources like stackoverflow or tutorials.
Using ReasonML for my final year project and the only resource I have is the API doc ☹️9 -
While I was working with my Android project that is written on Kotlin. One of my on non-tech colleague came and saw my screen and
said "Why are you overriding fun"
I replied him that we just not override fun we also have private fun and public fun.
Is it not funny translating code to real English 😂😂😂2 -
I'm a junior developer working on a project that's completely out of my scope. I've missed deadline after deadline and my boss + the customer are getting very pissed off and impatient. This project has got me feeling sick. I'm not sleeping well and honestly thinking about leaving my job just because of this 1 project.
I've tried speaking with my manager but she just says, complete it ASAP to the best of your ability. It will take me months to get it right but I am really struggling.
I'm just looking for some advice please? Has anyone else been through this? Do you think leaving is stupid?
Thank you ranters 😃13 -
One of classmates presented an idea of children tinder as her final project. (To find friends, not...you know..)
So, after a pretty logical question how they're going to prevent it from turning into a platform for kidnappers, they said 'I don't know, not my problem, tinder doesn't do it, Facebook doesn't, it's not my sphere of responsibility. And as a developer I cannot guarantee anything, why are you asking me this you're wrong'
Bravo.
P.s. idk why both of my latest posts are about tinder lol13 -
Web Devs - How many projects do you typically work on at once? I am currently developing 24 websites at once, most of them custom (homepage). I just feel like that is absurd and my company is absolutely insane. Not to mention I'm the front line for client communication as well, pretty much the project manager AND developer. We're a huge company too, not a start up. Just feel like not having project managers for web dev industry is unprecedented except for freelance. 😡👎🏼18
-
Quited my job because I want to code and not project managing (instead of coding). Found a new job as front-end developer with opportunity to become a full stack dev.
-
I fucking hate it, when I have to stop working on my project, not because I am incompetent, but because somebody fucked up the docs or their fucking API doesn't work3
-
I finally finished a project after weeks of not knowing what to do with my skills.
What that project is?
It's a discord bot that bans half of the members in a server. :/6 -
Next time my wife falls asleep on the couch, I am not going to play Battlefield, I'm going to work on my side project...
Yes I am...
Yes I am...
... Probably...
🤔5 -
My first job was not exactly a job but a freelance project. The guy that I delivered the website to thought that I'd charge money each time I pressed a key on my laptop when we met.
Had to explain to the guy that that's not how it works. That's not how any of it works.4 -
Fuck my life sometimes.
I'd just finished my work for an ongoing project, it's been over 6 months only to be dragged out to be told another system needs an immediate change which at best will take 3-4 weeks.
Like seriously just let my mind come off down from the completion of previous project before dropping a new barrel of insanity on my desk 😬
I like being busy, don't get me wrong. but damn not even a day of recovery 😓1 -
As a side project, I've been helping out a friend build a website for free.
friend: I need more of your commitment for this project. We're about to get a huge client!
Me: Yeah you've been saying that for a year. Dude, I just don't have time to waste in projects that are not givine me any money.
friend: HOW DARE YOU! ARE YOU BLACKMAILING ME?!?!
ugh... not my friend anymore10 -
Saw conjuring 2 yesterday, not impressed. My project has more daemons than the film and they don't go away just by calling their name 😕2
-
Boss was angry complaining about delay in delivery on a recent project via our official group channel on Slack, he then uploaded this photo with me and my colleagues confused not finding a meaning to it. Lol, we just ignored and apologized.4
-
I contributed to my first open source project on GitHub. It is so much better and fun to do. Why have I not been doing this since 🤔😊😁
-
For the past two years, I worked my balls off to deliver a project that eventually went live months ago.
But boss announced that no bonus is going to be paid because project got delayed.
Its not even my fault that project got delayed because customer cannot confirm requirements and keep changing.
All of my assigned tasks were also met on time, if not earlier.7 -
This is what u get when u trust your teammates on a group project.
Not my fav function, but I was rofl when I saw it 😂
That is, until the frustration of working in a group kicked in10 -
Today boss called me on my personal phone to ask where the fuck I am after not answering a low prio mail for 10 minutes from his pet project.
We have voip.
We have chat.
No pressure meant...2 -
So tomorrow I have to explain to my non-technical principal that the "game engine" I say I'm going to make in my senior project proposal is in fact not a car engine in a game. And I also have to explain that a mechanic would not be an ideal mentor for this project.2
-
Synchronizing my OneDrive account with my Linux desktop. Not only did I apparently store a uni project on fucking OneDrive instead of using git (in my defense, it was 2 years ago), but I didn't even exclude the node_modules folder!!6
-
Every project ever :
Initial plan :
||===================|| 100 %
Actual submission
||==|| 13%
- Not enough money!
- Not enough people!
- Not enough time!
- Not enough resources!
- Hardware not supported
- Software not supported
- My team are useless
- God didn't like it. :/1 -
When I get stuck I usually try a variant of the duck method. I find someone not involved the project and explain my problem to them. I always figure it out before I finish explaining3
-
Dear Project Managers,
If you schedule a status update meeting for the end of the week, it is NOT okay for you to stop by my desk every day and ask if the project is on track. You will get your update during the update meeting you scheduled.
KthanxBye1 -
i came to workspace, my boss said:
"wtf are you doing at here?
u know, we got new big project!!"
and continued:
"why you wasting your time by coming here? and why you are not drunk already?!!"4 -
Trying to decide how to spend my weekend, continue to learn node.js and angular.js OR learn vim OR work on side project...to many choices not enough time7
-
Exams of two weeks starts tomorrow. We'll be doing a project. Only, 70 percent will be documentation :/. I'm trying to keep my nerves, fair of failure and everything else as low as possible but that's not particularly working anymore 😞10
-
Recently in a project of mine people started to raise tons of issues and suggesting fixes "just slap this module on it", "just do this", "just do that". And no respect for the project whatsoever. Code contributions? Don't even think about it.
The users raising these do not know what language the project is written in, they do not know whether it supports modules at all (let alone that particular one), and they have no idea whatsoever what the code is like, or how this suggestion 99% of the time would not at all integrate with the overall structure of the project. And aside from all that, don't fucking tell me what to do with my project!
My question is, how do you deal with these people? All I can think of is "wontfix™️" or even "cantfix™️" in some cases. Given that this is an endless slew of users, anything long-term?1 -
Murphy's law is completely true.
Deployed my own software the very first time on a customer system on monday.
Today I'm at a job college class when my boss calls me: "...Hey yeah (unrelated) (yadda yadda) the software does not function for anyone").
I fucking knew it.
We don't have a proper project planning nor a real project manager/lead, we don't do QA, and now it's gone to shit.
I did my own testing extensively on monday & Tuesday, everything looked alright and worked like a charm.
I'm looking forward to the weekend already...1 -
I was hoping to work on my project this weekend. Turns out, the kindergarten gave all the parents a task - to make a Christmas-y house with their child.
Damn it!!
Well, I didn't work on my project, no doubt about that. But I found some other place to overengineer the shit out of it. And, frankly, I LOVED it.
2 days wasted. Not even sorry.
EDIT: all the materials are from the trash bin. That makes it even more fun!
EDIT2: Paint job is my wife's :) I'm too sloppy for it.13 -
During my internship.
Got wonderful opportunity to present a project to a senior Director of a different team.
And just moments before meeting, my project stopped working.
Was a disaster.
Later came to know there were internal issues in the service I was using in my project.
Though not my fault, but during the meeting, I managed to show a video of the project.
Let me know if folks wants to know what happened later..3 -
In 2010, it was my first client project. Our architect was not from iOS background, we had editable pdfs in our app. Those were pretty rich pdfs with inline HD images. iPads that time were not too fast and couldn't handle big gb pdf loaded into memory. App would crash randomly running out of memory. We fixed it by paginating pdf, it wasn't out of the world but considering it was my first mobile project and no one to guide, I thought it was pretty cool what we did there
-
Got a notification from devRant. Saw that my post got 30++, Paused music and stopped opening my js files on my project, wrote a quick email to stickers@devrant.io, and then ended up browsing for so long I do not even know/ realize what time it is now, and certainly not what the time was when I started.
-
About every project at my last job. Impossible to like any project with a boss that legitimately thinks frames and tables are a better option than learning css.
But why not, attribute styling on html-elements are the future indeed.7 -
One coworker in my projects now.
I work with her on two projects. One project I'm doing a review on their test scripts and saw a lot of revision is needed on hers. It's fine, she may just need some help. Offered help and did sessions and gave explanations and samples. But she is still not finished. 2nd project I was acting like the project manager until the official PM gets assigned. Her tasks is just to create test data.
Little did I know she has escalated the 1st project to her team lead and manager and requesting for a project change. This is not the first time she did this project shopping bit. But what irks me the most is doing an emergency leave so you don't have to attend the meeting on one project you are failing and then not telling me as the acting PM on the 2nd project that you have an emergency leave. She may likely never thought there is need to tell because she did attend the meeting for the 2nd project later in the day. But for the 1st project I have to pickup her slack and do the test scripts because the PM in that project already was informed about her leave.
This would have gone to daily rant but she is the first one I've encountered who fails and somehow gets away with it and even gets promoted doing the same tactics. But she did that to our junior resources in other projects who may likely got burned out and resigned.
Crappy performance should not be rewarded. I hope this time our management won't look the other way.5 -
Goals
1. Learn android development
2. Spend more time coding than procastinating (its not my job)
3. Learn more cpp
4. Publish my first android app
5. Finish my current project2 -
My current situation:
Manager: How is Project A coming? Project A is top priority. I would like to see a PR today with fixes to the current tickets.
Me: Project A is priority! Sure!
*after 2hours*
Manager: How is project B coming along? I did not see any PR’s coming in?
Me: I am working on project A as it is priority.
*after 1 hour*
Manager: How is project C coming? There is one ticket pending. We need a fix for it today asap!
Me: Starts project C as project A would take more time. Starts Work on project C.
*after 1 hour*
Boss: How is project A coming? Where is the PR?
Me: As you said you need a fix for project C today, i started working on project C as it has only 1 ticket to be fixed.
Boss: I told you project A is priority, why are you working on project C?
Me: *doesn’t reply*
*after 1 hour*
Boss: There is a ticket pending in project D. Did you make a fix for it?
*This is my usual day at work.
*I am the only developer in my current company. It’s not a software development company.
*Note: I do complete all the work and create PR’s for all “pending” work at the end of the day for all projects and leave for home at around 10pm :)
What do you think? Lol6 -
How my day went.
Project Manager: We need deliverable X.
Me: That's not listed.
PM: But we need it. Other PM says what you provided isn't enough.
Me: Too bad. I was not told to deliver it.
PM2: We need deliverable X.
Me: Look at the requirements. It is not there. I'm not providing it.
PM2: We need it. Let me ask PM3.
PM3: We need deliverable X.
Me: No. It's not listed. And here's why it's not even applicable.
PM3: Oh....ok4 -
Just because I have not written any code yet, does not mean I have not started on your project. I can either plan it well or let the code flow from my fingers like diarrhea.
-
Before I start a project,i Invoice first,50% down payment I am very clear about my story.take it or leave it..I am not an NGO3
-
Boss: "how is the project going? When will you be finished? It's not that much to do right?"
Me - I'm stuck in my spaghetti. Not even started to implement things - fuck3 -
I created this Pet lost and found app (only available in my country for now) , written in Flutter (client side), elixir (backend), MySql (dB).
Just a small project for a charity organizations.
Just in case the gif is not moving https://youtu.be/oO5Q7xS7rOQ3 -
After 4 months of dev, Project went into production
Client: it should work like that.
Me: it's a CR!
Client: No, it's not!
Me: talk to my boss.
...

Noticed a rant on here about transactions not redirecting the user back to the previously visited page, on certain sites. Just implemented the functionality to my shitty little project and I currently feel better than the big players.1
-
I write python that's faster than most people's c++. My c++ smokes everyone. Current project runtime has gone from 90 minutes to 90 seconds. Fuck yeah. I'm really not paid enough...15

I am an university student in India and had been working on my DBMS project for the semester.
I have been working my ass off for a fuckin month , skipping classes missing out on friends. Now it's the end of semester and my professor is handling me by the balls. He didn't even see the actual working model, all he wanted was a project report with near 0% plagiarism.
So today after a week of ass licking and countless trip from my dorm to his office and back, he accepted the project.
And that wankstain jizznut shameless cunt of a teacher took the project ,deleted my name ,deleted any text connecting the project to me or the university and wrote his name ,his degenerate name on the front page.
Not to mention published it under his own name.11 -
Started a large own project more than a month ago and still not abandoned it. Just realized that this is my biggest achievement.3
-
My first freelance project - happened to be with the worst client. They didnt wanna pay more than $500 and also had no clue what they want, so each time i present something they request additional features or changing the ones implemented. In the end i kept the half downpayment for my time and bailed without deploying or anything. I introduced them to another freelancer to take the project and never went near them again.
To clarify, it was not my first project/ just my first time dealing with clients for projects instead of doing them at work. Ever since then i have a strict no dealing with clients directly policy.2 -
Me: *working on a project for a year solo*
Management: Let's move development to consultants
Me: I don't think we'll profit from that
Management: Yes let's do it anyways
Me: *switching between project management and working on another project for 6 weeks*
EMERGENCY MEETING
Management: We're not getting enough output
Me: What did I say?
I'm so fucking tired of this project fuckery. Cred to my boss, she's great, but this time they should've just listened to me.2 -
Yay! My first bash project :D
disclaimer - my bash is not pretty. yet.
Why I created it?
I encountered several footlong scripts in a new project at work. And they had no logging. And I am in charge of making it sing again. So here it is a tiny logging framework.1 -
Me:
* Builds Project and Hosts it *
* thinking * : * ' I don't really need to push to Master, I'll just push it to the deployed branch *
Me: * tests project from host *
Me: * sees a bug, fixes it and rebuilds the project, hosts it and pushes code to deployed branch *
4Hrs Later:
Colleague: Dude did you see the Typos you made? Fix them!
Me: In my defence, I wrote this at 4am in the morning, did not sleep for 2 days.
Colleague: Don't Care, fix it.
Me: *Creates Hotfix Branch from Master*

I have finished some docs for my project.
Going to bed.
GIANT insect in my bed.
I think i'll not sleep tonight...
I prefere the doc work.1 -
I found out that a major open source project pulled in some of my code for an enhancement I wrote in my own repo. The code was modified some to match the current conventions of the project, but it contains some of my original comments so I know it was based directly off my code. I'm not entirely sure how to feel. On one hand I'm super stoked to know that the maintainers of the project actually looked at my code and included it. On the other, I'm a little bummed they didn't credit me or at least give me a little shout out...2
-
Sharing your password with your coleagues is like sharing your underwear or your GF with them. It's not right and unless you're into some weird fetish you won't really want them back...
I've been asked to help in my previous project and I'm fairly certain my credentials are expired/locked/forgotten there. Guess whose managers will be encouraging sharing current dev's on that project passwords...2 -
I applied as a full-stack dev at a private company, they offered me the Project Manager role instead, I took the offer and after 1yr they gave me a choice to choose between staying as a Project Manager or switching to being a Software Engineer/System Analyst. I took the SoftEng position because project management isn’t my career choice for now.
Now people saying I not knowingly chose to be demoted. Is it a bad choice?10 -
"What is your project status? I need an update!"
So spoke the team leader. I was mildly hesitant about just rudely leaving work - which I was about to do, I was literally halfway out the building - without answering and delaying to Monday.
My project leader - the one that is supposed to look after me and my project every now and then - is on vacation. He's also the one, who is supposed to update the team leader.
It's not that we don't talk regularly, apart from his questions every two months or so, he is informed about my project on a bi-to-tri-weekly basis whether he wants it or not.
The team leader on the other hand seemed quite uninformed about my project.
Wouldn't it be nice if people would fucking talk to each other?!
Other than that, I'm learning C# for roughly six months now and today was the day it all started making sense. OO is a concept that is hard for me to grasp - I understand it, but I continuously failed to implement it. (That I have no regular code review right now isn't helping.)
Today, it just clicked.
I feel kind of stupid and in awe at the same time right now. :D2 -
On a doomed project. Nobody seems to know what anyone was suppose to have done last week, or the plan for this week.
I've warned them more times than I can count.
I could help, but I'll just sit here with my feet up, eating a snickers and watch them panic1 -
I wanna write code NOT TRYNNA FIND WHY ANACONDA HAS TAKEN OVER MY ENTIRE COMPUTER. I've spent the last day looking for answers. I'm now a full day behind with my project.
The mental breakdown is near.7 -
Hi guys! Im jr dev and i had a great week! My girlfriend letf my house :'( but my project it's working very well on production. It's not a prank!
#TrueStory7 -
Starting a new project:
1.Think of a new/exciting idea
2.Start imagining and planning in my head
3.Start working on my idea
4.Give up mid-way
5. Get depressed
6. Get back at it way behind schedule and still not complete it
7. Go back to step 1 except that's basically how I start something new and not just a project :)4 -
>has idea for project (creating a watchface for my watch)
>downloads SDK
>finds out only Eclipse is supported
>Tries to go the CLI way
>Can't find a way to setup a new project without Eclipse
>Finds a boilerplate
>Gets random unexplainable, undocumented errors
>"Well, guess that's another idea that will not workout due to the incompetency of others"9 -
Just came across this in a website project of my company.... and it goes on for about 5 times of that. But it's not in the html code, guess it comes from some js framework. Not sure if bug in framework or bad code in website.8
-
Have been working on my project recently, bug fixing, aws configuring, containing the app, etc, etc. I've been sleeping close to 5hrs on average per day, juggling college finals, work, training and project labour, my activity here has been minimal but I figured some people might be going through the same and I wanted to share my last resource dev weapon...the jet fuel of dev fuels imo...DW coffee
I strongly recommend to use it in dire times (not a promo this thing got me through 13 hours of coding straight)6 -
Currently doing my final handover, the "senior" developer is trying hardly to find things for me to change not in the code, no, in the documentation. Bitch, this is the ~most~ only documented project in the whole company!
#5 days left.3 -
While sitting in a train (5 hours trip) I really want to code something, unfortunately I dont have my laptop with me, so i just connected with ssh from my phone to my ubuntu vps, created some project via npm and use android app to edit the code. It is not perfect but works. Someone else code like that?3
-
Disappointed to be an intern at a place where we were given a website project where I'm the only experienced coder. Not learning anything new and I work all day while my team watches videos.4

Tomorrow I'll finally start working on a new part of my company's current project from scratch after loads of frustration in the past 1 1/2 months! Not a rant, just a lil bit of hope that it'll get better :)4
-
Not the code review itself, but having repeatedly to nag my project leader just to get a review is the worst.
I'm "only" a student and it's a project without fix deadlines so it's alright with me that it is low priority.
But - I want to learn something here, I really do, I'm new to C# and far from mastery. Apart from that my focus was mainly hardware during the last years.
I need some fucking brutal and honest criticism on my code, damnit!
That's all.5 -
The interview wasn't so bad, but it was deceiving, not to the fault of the company though. During the interview process, they were asking all sorts of questions about my Angular and front-end skills. I was to take over a project that used Angular heavily, and none of their devs knew angular. At the time, this was going to be my dream job! After I got the job, and met with the contractor who was handing over the project. He told me that he spent that weekend rewriting the whole thing on rails and ember. When I brought it up with my boss, he was not happy. I would have been fine working on it, but instead I got put onto Wordpress projects with the evergreen promise that I would transition to that project or another one like it. Never happened, built up my skills contributing to Open Source, then left.1
-
I like webpack, but maybe not anymore after today.
Was working on my side project with already configured webpack and after some time I realised somethong is wrong with my styles, but it was not before.
Then I realised, that Chrome won't load CSS at all. I checked my source, but it seems to be perfectly fine. No errors while building. CSS is even included in the bundle generated...WHAT THE FUCK?5 -
Today I solved the problem assigned to me by changing one character. Simplest fix ever. Except that this problem is not on my project, and I don't have control over this project, so I can't merge my pull request or deploy the code, and the dev that does hasn't answered email today, and he's not scheduled out, and he's not in his office. Whatever, I'm just gonna say it's fuck it Friday and call it a week.1
-
Remember about this project of mine? Maybe not because I deleted the rant, but after a long pause I re-started working on it. In -just- 1 hour I wrote this code that picks a random number, goes from 0 to 5 and, if found, it prints the match.
This is my most (useless && senseless) project by far.4 -
Last week,my friend asked me to fork and pull request on his github repository so that he could review my changes and merge them,I had included some more exciting features in his app but till now he has not merged my request, instead he just copied the changes I made in his repo into his repo manually and updated his project, still he has not merged my pull request!!
That guy is a genius!7 -
Ever finish a project, feel fulfilled for a hot minute, then feel like you're still not as good as you thought you were and instantly start hacking away again?
This has been my cycle for the past 2 months.1 -
"My code" only exists when you work alone on your precious project. Do not carry over that mindset when you work with a team or you will just ignite another endless holy war1
-
I just bought the game screeps (http://screeps.com) and am gonna use typescript. Should I or should I not add this on my CV as side project?5
-
One more startup proposal
And
I accept it
$500
One condition
I will not maintain anything.
Plot twist : it was my toy project
Every week I will show progress.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂6 -
This is my first time working with Android Studio and I'm not sure if it's really building my project or just got stuck...
It's been over an hour and I'm still waiting.6 -
Be yourself, don't make yourself look better (or worse!) than you actually are. Also, I never made a side project in my life and I landed every job I applied for. Don't pretend to be someone you're not.
-
how do u guys get motivated to start coding?
I'm pretty much have a lot of time this week (holidays) and i want to spend on my own project.
but i just not strong enough to start..14 -
Fuck my project manager. He wants to sacrifice code quality, test coverage and technical debt in favor of more features. In the future when everything takes longer or breaks guess who is responsible? Certainly not him.3
-
- my (non-dev) supervisor at my job
- no documentation
- no source control
- people working in the same team with completely different programming/domain knowledge levels, but also very different ways of being
- bad within-project communication
Luckily not all of them are about my job. We do use source control.8 -
The client wants the booking project to be all in JS Framework (not specifying any) and NO PHP since client hates PHP (and I don't know why) from the very beginning when the only dev was my former front-end partner (lead dev).
I was wondering why the client still continued the project, YET the file extensions were still on PHP. I asked the lead dev what happened and answered he didn't know know how to start migrating to JS framework and just started NATIVE PHP.
Still, as being a good dev and a supporter to lead dev, did accept and the project as lead dev's assistant. Fixed bugs, enhancement and responsive (DEMMIT, I FREAKING HATE RESPONSIVE) and later complained why am I doing front-end tasks, when it's not my task, supposedly. I EXPECTED MORE ON BACK-END TASKS!
(HERE'S THE EPIC ADVISE GOES AND CALLED OURSELVES MASTER)
Me: Master, why did you not started the project in JS Framework instead of native php?
Lead Dev : You know what master, this project has been already done if the client allows US to use WordPress for this project will still be migrated to JS. And now, WE are trapped to make every window size be responsive since there are already a standard for each window screen.
Me: (DO NOT INCLUDE ME IN YOUR FUCKING SORCERY! I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU DID THERE AND WHY D'YOU ACCEPT THIS PROJECT, SLAVE, WHEN YOU ALREADY KNOW YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DO IT, IN THE FIRST PLACE. STOP BEING A DICKHEAD AND DO NOT WASTE CLIENT'S MONEY AND EFFORT FOR YOUR USELESS BUNCH OF SHIT!) Indeed, responsive is a such a pain in the arse.
Lead Dev: Maybe, let's just finish our tasks first and wait the project to be migrated to JS.
P.S. The project manager and client asked me if I do know how to migrate the project from native PHP to JS framework and sabotaged lead dev. OFCOURSE, YES! But, I did not respond that quickly, unless eerm, you know, I earn greater than lead dev. Truth be told and practically speaking, it's really unfair for me if I accept the back-job when the lead dev delivers inaccurate deliverables and earned greater than me. No way, Jose!
Now, I am not working with him because I'm super done with him and later did I know, lead dev is looking for Drupal dev to be working for the booking project. -
Being forced to learn Angular for a project, then as my confidence kept growing those same guys said "actually, we are not going to use any Angular, vanilla Javascript will be enough".
PS: months later those same guys: "Hey, maybe you could learn Angular 2 for our next project". We never worked together again :/2 -
”We’re not going to shuffle you (devs) around from project to project and definitely not taking on any new time-sensitive projects with the limited resources we have, seriously understaffed as we are atm” - that was the promise.
So today I got assigned to a time-sensitive project (unconditional deadline by the end of the year) on a product I am not at all familiar with... I almost believed 2 projects underway was enough so that it would not get assigned to me. Oh well, there’s always room for a 3rd.
At least I get to pick my tools so I get to try out Fable... a silver lining there, and not really a thin one.3 -
Biggest sin
Due to lack of time, I named all the variables in my project without logic,
Like temp1,str1, function dojson etc
Lord be with the dev who's gonna work on that project
PS I am not a bad person, it is the time that made do such things -
"We are releasing today" - sentence my project/tech manager keep saying for a week now. Of course, we changed few core components during the week - because, why not - and nothing works now.

!rant
For the past year I was more or less solely responsible for a project. With the beginning of the year 2020 that project is paused. I had vacation starting the 23.12.2019 so the project ended there for me. Since the 25. the project is alerting like 30 crashes a day. I didn't change a thing but the external consultant did. Now I sit here at home and drink relaxing tea while reading a book. It's nice to say that it is not my problem anymore :-) -
Entirely my fault. I was getting frustrated that the CSS I had copied and pasted from an old project was not appearing properly. It just wouldn't work. Spent an hour before I lost my shit and closed the IDE, to discover that I was saving the old project repeatedly and hadn't even touched the new project which was serving.
-
My boss called my team for a meeting, where he pointed out the difference between "doing what we can" and "doing our best".
He later said he was dissatisfied with our lack of commitment with our latest, biggest project , and expected an improvement.
That would be all fair and well, were it not for the fact that, because of his delivery date of said project, we returned home four times. In the previous two weeks. -
Spent an hour and a half debugging why binders are not working on my Asp.Net project to end up finding out that my controller was missing:
[Route("[controller]")]
attribute at the beginning
Life is wonderful :)2 -
I was minding my own business, fixing merge conflicts for my project lead when it struck.
There, in the middle of a React.js component, was a table, used not for displaying data, no, but for styling a form, which was not a form, but a series of table rows.
I feel sick -
Project configurations... why, for ffs, whenever i come to old project i need to deal with configurations, build systems, certificates, project settings. I want to write code not dedicate my life to Maven and making directories by hand for Android Flavors.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaa! -
So I’ve finished the project (YES FUCKING FINALLY I KNOW) but it’s not official until I turn in the code to my client (FUCK) and see if he wants me to add anything or if it’s good how it is. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻2

Any company that ENFORCES you to have a college degree so you can get hired - is a failed company in my eyes and not worth any of my time.
I would not accept to contribute a thing to that company regardless of the salary i would be paid.
Same goes for all and everyone else: if an open source project were to require a contributor to have a college degree so he can contirbute, is a failed project.
ANYONE and ANYTHING who requires a college degree - has already failed.14 -
I remember I couldn't compile a clean Xamarin Forms project on Visual Studio because of a System.TimeZoneInfoNotFoundException. The workaround?, changed my time zone to Central time USA-Canada. So apparently it is not allowed to use Xamarin in the third world...1
-
Learning rust with a very tight deadline. Not something I'd recommend since you will be likely to spend more time trying to get your project to compile than getting on with your project.
In my case the project was a compiler(in hindsight I'd have picked ocaml or scala instead).4 -
I'd love to start a pet project, but my brain refuses to come up with an idea. 😑
At least I'm used to it, seems like my creativity is not existent.14 -
I did not fully understand dev ducks untill my project partner said I used him as a dev duck. I wonder how long it would take until he gets me one.
-
Been invited to a bi-weekly meeting about a project that I'm not even working on yet.
I think I'll just go and cut my own brake cables then drive home. -
Finish a personal project.
Any personal project. I'm not picky. The last time I completed a project that wasn't for my job was like five (well, now six) years ago. -
Giving an unrealistic timeline for a project. Got reprimanded a few times because of this. Oh and my procrastination habits do not help..at all.1
-
Not leaving my last job earlier.
History: Supervisor / Lead Developer was a complete moron who watched videos on facebook and youtube, engaged in heated discussions on facebook, wasted my time by showing the work of other companies and vines, smoked in the office and towards the end gave me shit for not meeting deadlines of the work that he was supposed to deliver. Project that I was working on had very lazy clients so I was free for even 2 days sometimes and that’s why I decided to help my supervisor on the project assigned to him but in reality I was handling two projects all alone.
Aftermath: My indie games started gaining traction on google play and I found a client and I made 5x my salary at my last job.1 -
This climate crisis is slowly getting into my head guys😠. The shit bolsanaro and all other govs are doing is effecting my mojo.
I am working here and trying to do my best to deliver quality code while i must fight the feeling that ppl are betraying me (the govs). Its not my job to remind them of not fucking us over. I try to help by not becoming a criminal and getting forward with my life. Wtf is wrong with those in charge of govs?! On any project if you ignore the signs, u'll end up in refactoring hell or the project just dies. Getting out takes serious commitment.
Is everyone just gone crazy?
Here we all will get fucked, if we fail with project earth. 🤬😖👿16 -
Rant
I was given a project to lead and develop with 2 other team members by the co-founder, I was told that I will need to deliver an initial demo within 30 days, 20 days in the project and I was told yesterday that they need a final release ready within the next 10 days !! Not just that but the co founder decided to assign one of my team members to another project!!!
I've worked today till 4am.
Guess who's working from home in the morning!6 -
There's a senior dev at work who deflects and delays every project while working on his own freelance jobs most of the day. Fortunately, my performance is not tied to his.
Hero, or villain?7 -
My next project is a functional fitness/crossfit application and my client requires me to attend and participate sessions with them in order for me to understand and appreciate the sport. I got the point but OMG I only know sports via tv,youtube,etc.. and not really fun of socializing. I might die doing this project. Help me!4
-
lol my life is a joke
E: I've found it in css of a project I work on after some well paid consultant. And no, it was not temporary.5 -
My new project is not getting popular... I'm sad because I've spent a lot of time thinking about it and creating it and it's bothersome that it isn't appreciated.9
-
Because of my managers attitude I have lost interest in her project ...not fun any more. Now it’s not gonna be of such good quality because now I won’t be developing it with lovvve, won’t be going extra miles ......fucking idiot.1
-
Was just asked why a react project keeps on throwing CI error that path not found, saw the OS was windows and my reply was:
I don't dare using Nodejs/React on Windows, on *nix machine or that thing will keep on messing up
I hope I was right in my response :S6 -
Boss asks if the project will be finished today, I reply ‘yes’ and then realised I’d not pushed my code after working from home the previous day! Doh!1
-
I’m doing my last two days at my current job. (I resigned to go work full-time on a startup project.)
While doing some last commits, I couldn’t resist to not put an easter egg in my current running project (an e-commerce web application)... I’m hoping to be able to trigger it in the future when it’s being used by a dozen of our clients.. 🌝 Hopefully, my follow-up dev will get the joke and won’t remove these lines of code.. -
Developing the front end and THEN developing the back end is a horrible idea, right guys? I've been placed on my first big project with my employer and this is the way the client is deciding to do it (my employer is not making the backend). I just need to know that I'm not crazy and that this is usually never the way people go about software development. Right guys? Please send help.5
-
Oh God! I have a java exam coming up in two days and i'm so not done with my project work for evaluation. Truth is, i haven't even started yet since i was so focused on building up my javascript knowlegde. I'm fucked.4
-
100 weeks is a long time, and I'm not even sure I'm gonna survive! But my roughly estimate is by:
- wk125; I've managed to live on my savings; Because I'll (try to) finish any project and just focus on my thesis.
- wk150; I've defended my thesis. Now I apply for PhD and get rejected.
- wk175; Begging for my last job to get hired again.
- wk200; Thanking myself for not buying bitcoins back then.
Probably I'll also manage to learn Go somewhere there.2 -
My first interview question to a project on the second day at my new job:
"Implement a sum function that will work like this:
sum(1)(2)(3)(4)...(n)"
I could not answer this or any of the following questions...12 -
Started a project..
My friend and I wanted to collaborate with our school’s student government to create a website for our school. Things went well for the first few months.
6 months later and the project is still not finished 😕
I’m having doubts on myself now, also my motivation is at its lowest point.6 -
I tried this on mobile and the delay isn’t as noticeable as I’m a really slow mobile typer.

Not just dev goals.
-Stable relationship with [Redacted]
-Finish my projects
-Get new SSD
-Finally get paid for the DLR project
-Not fucking up my exams
-Finish my blacksmithing idea/project
-Play a good game that's not Destiny2
-Learn python.
-Drivers license
-Think positively for once4 -
Although it’s not really a project I will be done with my apprenticeship in july this year and I already have a nice job offer... this feels like a success
-
Well it's about my B.Tech project.
I had windows 7 and I had lots of imp data along with my project and I hadn't taken any backup of my project(not even report copy). So after successful completion of my project I thought let's play with OS and try other OS and that time I had rare awareness about data and OS too.
So I had copied my imp data(mainly friends party pics) into my friend's external HDD and I thought yeah I have clean chit now and literally I forgot about my project which was in C:/ drive.
So happily I had done experiments and enjoyed a lot and one day my my project partner asked about project copy and I had just given a smile.
RIP.
Happy Ending :D1 -
My biggest regret is getting into a project and not finishing it. I Almost feel like I should force myself to finish up these project before I start new one.
-
I really think I prefer to be judged in an interview based on a walk through of a project you would want me to work on or a project to work on at a specified time or even my public projects in my repo, not some theoretical basics of programming.
Frankly, most times I barely remember this basic shits but obviously use them as the need arise in projects.1 -
Hello devs. This happens to be my first rant. And I got a question to start off.
I'm looking for an existing public/open-source React project which is not too hard to understand and has a good folder/file structure and code structure. Something that gives me an idea of how a good production level code and project should be.
Any recommendation is appreciated. Can be your own project too.
Thank you 😊.10 -
Here's what's on my mind.
I am building portfolio website as my first project. But I am doing this going the self taught route. I do not know a single soul in the developer space. And none of my friends or family are technical.
How can I get feedback on my site?7 -
Started testing my most recent side project today... Renaming 1.1TB of movie files according to proper naming conventions over a 100Mbs network. Been running for 11hours already and not even a quarter of the way through8
-
Same sh*t different day. Let me play with my pet project! I know it does not earn me anything, but hey it will make millions in the future once it's done! I am sure! :D2
-
My professor bored to just seeing terminal line of my project cause they can't get it.. so I did this:
http://lookpic.com/O/i2/...
Attached link because image is not uploading1 -
My laptop got an update and now nothing will load, they all just go blank and show the "not responding" message. It's incredibly frustrating because I couldn't work on my HTML project yesterday.1
-
Any tips for attending my first hackathon? Keep in my mind I am not too well versed in applications with JS/Python. Also I really don't have a lot of real life project experience. I am super excited though.2
-
I hate having a project to go on with but not being able to :(
For example: I have a project that I want to work on, but I'm currently fixing HDDs and I can't use my computer (which is a backup, therefore quite slow). And I can't stop the HDD recovery process unless I want to start again later.
PS: Am I the only one who deletes his most recent rant when he thinks he has something better to say, and the cooldown is still not over?5 -
A shitty internet connection and visual studio make the best of fucking friends. This is going on a half hour now.
Had to switch to my windows partition for a project and I'm not happy.
Cry for me Fedora. -
[Long post]
My last big project at school.
There was some pretty interesting projects, some shitty one, but there was one big project that interested almost everyone : a project in collaboration with Siemens. The project implied Machine Learning and Image Analysis. There were like 11 applies, with a total of 13-14 groups.
The project was randomly chosen for each group. I've learned that my project was the big one with Siemens. I remember how excited and hyped I was in a quarter of second.
So the whole project was tutored by one teacher that know us pretty well (since we already did a pretty cool project last year tutored by him) and by a former student at my school who's now at Siemens. And to be honest, it was one of the coolest project I've been into, despite the difficulty, since the whole subject (not gonna tell it just in case) was pretty new. We had some troubles, but we and our tutors always had discussion every week that helped us quite a lot.
There was some development planned at first, but the more we went into the project, the more we all saw the complexity of it and didn't quite hope to do a single line of code, but mostly research.
The project took around 3-4 months, we had a room that we can use with a GTX 1070 for training the neural network, and me and my friend knew how to work perfectly and efficiently.
At the end of the project, as expected we didn't do some coding, but we did a presentation of the project, with the big help of our tutor at Siemens that told us to redo from scratch our part in a more scientific way; the presentation was a real success, we got all the jury saying they actually wanted those kind of presentation and were really pleased. And we provided everything needed so a new fresh group with no knowledge of the topic could do some coding on it.
We got one of the highest notes of the promotion (not sure if the highest or not). Even tho it kinda disgusted me in researching, that actually was one of the best project I got to do that was that successful.1 -
My boss don't give me any information about the project in 2 months ... Then the application need to run in 1 week ... Im the only developers in this faculty .. suprise ! I said to him the project cannot be delivered in such small time ...
Boss : but you having so mutch time to do it !
me: but you tell me to fix some PC screen and printer and is not my job to do that im a programmer.
Boss: but you have certification in programmation and tech support
Me: yes but you hire me to code your project not to fix your forest !
Boss: if you don't want to work just say it
Me: never mind ...
Results: i change faculty in the university -
Any summer project ideas to step-up my programming skills? I'm bored but also not very creative when it comes to projects.7

FUCK NEXTJS
The STUPID STUPID STUPID Server components force me to create 123953298341923 files just to add a FUCKING "use client" and the top that basically turns this fucking mess into basic barebones React
WOW. Let's have 34 million libraries in our project and then let's not use them with one fucking keyword that forces me to write my 10 components project as a 300 million files project
Then, I LOVE that all my FUCKING FILES ARE NAMED PAGE
That makes things easy
NextJS can fuck itself9 -
I wrote some code in a different pattern than that was seen in the project. Got positive comments, but the senior said that as per the project rules you are not supposed to write like this.
So ended up writing some duplicate code but somehow it incorporates my pattern and existing project rules.
Should I be happy or sad? -
So much has happened, I've been learning things, I got robbed, I discovered I love test driven development, my laptop fell downstairs and is now screenless, I'm still on this project and still have not gotten the source or gone live, side work exists though so I get to make some more money, car engine needs to be overhauled, project extended still not in production. Send Help.
-
for the life of me I cannot figure out in my mind how to structure this project I want to start, and jumping right into coding does not improve this mental block.
At work this Golang code base has a clean architecture, so easy to maintain and extend, and I'm unable to replicate it on my own project(s). It sucks to be an ignorant.2 -
I had learnt my lesson about the reality of group projects in the very first semester of graduation.
And from then on till the final project in my postgraduation, I refused to have a team and worked on every project alone (except for a few times when I couldn't convince the professor and even then made sure to not depend on anyone else).1 -
Android Studio upgrade
Over the weekend I upgraded my android studio and the project files of my current project and all went smoothly (as far as I thought).
I did not touch the project till today as was implementing some few features only for some few unexpected bugs to creap in.Been implementing that feature for some time and thought would be done in a flash only to my disappointment.
Turns after upgrading my SDK they were some conflicting dependencies that had no idea of.
To make it worse my fall to branch was way behind the active one and had to create a new project from scratch and copy paste files.
All this after spending hours in Stack
Overflow and scratching my head.
Lesson learnt to commit more frequently.1 -
It's 4:00 AM here, and I decided to go through my old project where I had put my maximum effort, it is a PHP Project, sadly not in production, I had built it from scratch, the sad part is password hashing, I had to go through 3 different files before the actual password is getting hashed, password_hash($pass, PASSWORD_BCRYPT), I am feeling so stupid right now I can't even describe in words, ok bye
-
I lost the last few days trying to understand what's wrong with my esp32 project (i2c is unstable),
without success.
I felt so angry.
then i realized that it's not my fault.
but it's a bad implementation of i2c api by espressif.
Now i have to wait for their fix😴 -
Having too many projects in my team and managed to convince my boss that we need more people and even other teams to help on some really critical tasks. It was fine until today the technical project planner decided to scold me for not assigning tasks to developers in other teams for one specific of project of ours.
I tried to explain that its not the best idea external people working on a really spaghetti code project that we will be left to maintain. Its the same problem that led to the current problem.
And the PP response was "they are machines and have worked on many othe team projects".
So the help was delivered as a scolding and my team sucks in their eyes. Without any word from my boss that i havent talked for 6 months except on 2 accessions where someone else demanded of us to focus only on their project. Beautiful ❤️6 -
Please don't try to decipher your code from 5 years ago, it's a mistake. Thought it would be a great idea to bring an old project back to life. Turns out it is not. Not when I can't understand my own code...3
-
i've been informed by my friend group that i'm the only person to consistently hit issues with not having the skill to do a project, go do other projects to gain the skills, then *come back* to the initial project.
how is this not a common thing2 -
I need a side project but i'm stuck on "what". I've ever had a side project, it helps training my mind and skills furthermore this "habit" helps me to not waste my time in unuseful things and keep me away from bad thoughts.

Hey all,
Need some ReactJS help:
So I was able to redo a browser extension project to fit my needs for my browser proxy project, however for some reason, the original source code doesn't seem to know the Setup class for the setup page. Webpack is not the issue but it seems it can't find the exported class, which makes the browser extension unusable. I hope you can help with my silly screwup.
Extension Source code: https://github.com/sr229/filo/...
I really lost all hope :<1 -
I'm currently doing a small personal project on JavaScript and HTML5. I ran into a problem and tried asking my teacher about it. It wasn't the JavaScript teacher but the HTML one. Anyway, his response is, "the department won't let me solve your doubts about JavaScript, only about JQuery". Because some of my classmates ranted to the department about a project that teacher told us to do in JavaScript (which is not strictly his subject) So here I am, my problem is still unsolved and I'm pissed off. I wonder if its ok to tell a teacher to NOT solve the students doubts.2

Learning Java properly while doing a project as a student and reading what I had written just weeks ago - I had put all my logic into the DAOs, not thinking of creating a package for it 😌1
-
High priority Bugs from the legacy system were pushing productive work out of the sprint enough that a 1 year project due in 2 months was sitting on 6 months of backlog of just my work. There are days where having 20+ years at the company is not a bonus. Fortunately I finally got through to the boss that he wouldn't make any ground on the project at this pace and he had the PM step in. Last sprint I worked on the project nearly full time.
-
How do you actually accredit code stolen from a project on github? Like it's not used commercially and it's going to be on github, too.
for context: i stole a java class from a minecraft mod. which is about 5% of the source project but makes more then 50% of my project.4 -
Bad habit as a developer I wanted to unlearn is To not to keep posting rants in front of my Team Leader while working who is discussing about project with me..
-
did on my last project:
1 .Using QA env as dev env
2. Deploy in production not completely tested stuff (90% tested)
3. Run with errors in prod
4. Manual fix in prod
5. Git versioning1 -
As if the day could not be worst.
I've a delay with an app for a school project, my stomach hurts like hell, I'm sleepy, my phone's SD card fucked up.
At least I still have some soda left, though2 -
WTF is wrong with with you VS?!111 I only updated these efing NuGet packages and my whole project goes down the toilet? Don't tell me these files are not there!! THEY ARE!!!! I SEE THEM!!!
...ohh i forgot, my fault! these files in my packages folder are the new ones and YOU STILL WANT THE OLD FILES BECAUSE YOU FORGOT TO UPDATE YOU FUCKING PROJECT FILE! -

found this on a work breakdown I made. HAHA this isn't related to my project right now. Can't even remember writing this. lol -
Once one of my teachers told me - when giving me and my colleague feedback on a project on Java - that in a certain method we shouldn't be giving as parameters parts of an object, as we're not IKEA or something, when we could be giving the object as a whole. Not the best teacher I've had so far but I still (try to) program by that rule LoL

Normally when I revisit an old project feel like tearing out my awful old code and rewriting it all - not today; today I feel like I am backsliding. I sidelined my personal project months ago when my real work got busy.
I have spent the evening discovering all the cool shit the project does and wondering if I'll ever get my head around it all again.
Looking forward to many nights tinkering and getting my memory back. -
recent graduate and fresh into the market with little experience in what i've chosen as a career. got my first (tiny) paycheck for my first project.
didnt know what to do with the money so i bought 3 domains of which 2 are my name with different spellings (i am not a narcissist)8 -
1. Forgetting to add comments
2. Inconsistent code indentation, and it is never present when I do not use any IDE (My project buddies get so mad)1 -
I need ideas for my honours project. I'm a web dev student so I want to create a website.
The trouble is, there's not much I'm passionate enough about to create a website for. It also needs to have some form of research in it.
I was thinking something based on VR but I'm not sure.
Ideas?3 -
I'm looking for a hobby project during winter as I can not drive my motorbike during that time. Anyone has a good idea?
Maybe I could start with my old business plan idea, but I would for sure need people to help me.6 -
want to do software for my final year project but the lecturer's not in office and didnt reply my email during choosing topics, so end up with data analysis. 😴1
-
Had written a robust code. Project manager asked me to make some changes which will alter the code consistency (which he doesn't understand).
I suggested an alternative..
Project manager warned me not to go according to my convenience...
Fuck them.. now i am writing code as per their needs... #Lifeofprogrammers3 -
Oh, hello dear PO. You suddenly wanted a change to be done after being silent for months?
Silly, silly you. I'm not some kind of rack you drag out of the closet whenever it suits you.
I am now assigned to another project. Your project can't be completed for months, and it ain't my fault. -
Finished compiling my biggest project to date. It compiles fine, but does not output anything.
Time to spend the night debugging and overeating. -
I just want to burst out how i feel, after that I'll be back to my project in ElectronJS, so bear with my story :)
I observed from a friend of mine....
October will be their 2nd take Thesis project... same project, the only thing is they purchased the software and never understood any of the code. At the defense(Last Tuesday) they were caught, they made excuses. Database diagram that has many tables that are not connected, and only 1 "Many-to-many" relationship without associative table.
I know from the beginning that "she" will fail over and over until the time she really needed my help... She kept her pride, knowing that she is capable of being independent...
To be frank, It's really hard to become an independent person, I always ask advice for revising my code, explaning this function and many more. I'm not saying that its a karma for her. Let her lesson be learned from these past years. -
Happy Christmas and happy new years. 2018 was not a good year for me. Many project got delayed and not happy with my performance. I wanted to learn many thing and do many things but was not able to achieve those things.
I don't even feel like enjoying my birthday anymore. (It's on 27).
Let's hope the 2019 will be better than this dumpster fuck 2018. -
Woohoo Final year project managed to get it approved!!!!(Its a game...those are generally not approved in my University)
-
so my suspicions were correct... most projects were fake and i was selected as a finalist for that hacking project!!!
wahoooooooo
also, day 5 of not knowing how to mix ES and commonjs packages in node
dutifuly signed,
🤡7 -
Its happening right now. Trying to get a project in my company when I am not willing to travel every week. Is it too much to ask for a project based in my home office? Especially with it being the company headquarters.
-
Sitting in the kitchen by myself, headphones in, eating my Kebab, fondling on my phone, minding my own business. Of course I want to talk about your project I'm not even remotely involved in

Stupid timeline, there is this company I was working for. It was sub-contracted by another company to do a government project. Government only pays after you deliver in my country. It was a complex system I must say. We were to work with my buddy on this project...now the timeline we were given were not feasible since another company had been given the same project and were not able to deliver. We had a meeting and discussed with our CEO about the project timelines. From the workload the feasible timelines were around 8months if we were to work as two devs. My CEO said that was not going to happen.. The only timelines that was allowed was not more than 3 months. So we suggest use an existing system to customize. .The meetings with the clients were to be weekly demos. So we choose to go with google docs api for the document management part. We were working around 20hrs a day to be able to achieve the target deadline..we management to complete the project within the given timeline..on the commissioning date of the project we faced a government panel and this was my worst disappointment. At the point of login we had to use Google email for business to obtain the API. Just as I was logging in the guy noticed and yelled. "Is that google account ?" and I replied yes..and he said "no need of proceeding since it will be of no use and they won't approve the system". That was my lowest moment in programming. I thought I had done the best project in my life as a programmer only for stupid man to declare my project as null. I felt like calling him son of a bitch but I knew that would have made me more angry...i just walked out. I went to the toilet and all I did was cry for the first time as I can recall.. My question was I was doing weekly demos. Why didn't they raise any questions by then so as to change the entire system??? Later after that demo we went and discussed about the issue and there was time extension. I redid the project using 'open office' but just before deploying the system I got a better job. I wasn't feeling like working on that project anymore. I want to release that project as open source. Recently after one year they haven't yet deployed the system. They are calling for my help. And I don't feel like helping after the humiliation...

I wish there’s a better engine for parsing HTML for relevant content from a URL than mercury for free.
I was making a class project in react and that is not getting it done to my thing. 😑😑 -
Bought the HELIO Amped router and low n behold.. ipv4 and ipv6 not connected to the internet. I have a project due. I tried everything from uninstalling/installing drivers to using command flushdns. I’m starting to have my suspicions on the modem?
-
Believe it or not, I'm new to Github.
I only want to commit the main project files to my branch (not all the automated files that occurred when I exported the project)
question - how do I safely get rid of the visible list of "changed files" that I don't want to commit? Can I just "discard changes", or does this actually do something to the files?
I selected "ignore all XXX selected files (add to .gitignore)" but it has neither added to gitignore nor removed them from the list.
I mean, I could just leave these files in the list of "Changes"...but my OCD doesn't like a list of files in my face.8 -
Since this week's rant topic is enterprise software, I thought why not take an existing enterprise application and make it better for my next project. What enterprise software do you use and/or want to see improved?5
-
Trying to explain to my work that I don't want to *not* work. I just don't want to work on this *particular* project for a while 🙃1
-
my project would be to write clean and KISS code... not slap and green egg ham jam kind of sticky tape.
-
Older lady designer with 2 huge Apple monitors asking me to change a color on the UI or left shift list elements. That's not too bad, right. NOOOOO. All of those request asked individually in a timespan of 4 weeks. I was assigned to do just that and nothing else. Damn I was bored...I was not allowed to help other teams or even my own team members officially. Finally my boss called me up for another project. SALVATION !!!
PS. That project got cancelled. No suprise there. -
Mmm, can't stop my brain when I have an opened project. Not possible to live the present moment when you're dev.
-
My pc suddenly restarted. And i found that my hdd is broke while all uncommited project still there. I spent 3 hours to fix it. And its still not working.
I hope i can get my project back. Also my games :(7 -
Being in a meeting my colleagues "caused" by not meeting an impossible deadline for a project I wasn't assigned to...
I just sat there not being able to say anything because I didn't know what the hell was going on.... -
It goes back in college days were,I started developing on Visual Basic for a college project as it was the only option.
As the scope was limited to a standalone application,we we're not allowed to use network.
Building up on the that, the project was to be done in a group of two with SRS and other stuff needed to done.
With my partner having no knowledge about the code,I took my ideas and Incorporated it into my project such as system logs, session tracking, data records, barcode reader, export data in various formats and so on.
The project got large eventually and professor's were curious to see the development of my project.
The project got showcased as the best project by professors and that overall gained my popularity in college and got me a job offer which I rejected in the end -
My computer seems to get more ane more trouble to handle the React part of my project, 16go ram doesn't seem enough to keep the project's reload fluid. (Actually had to hard reboot the computer a few minutes ago because of total freeze)
I don't know if this is because of Material-UI, the project being to big or me not having done something, even though I have my suspicions about MUI. I had to switch to Visual Studio Code (really nice IDE once the basic plugins are installed btw), but dude seems to have hard times too.
Is there a limit to how big a React handled project should be? Am I fucking something up?10 -
I'm probably going to stay up all night to finish my school project... It's not even for an grade but I would feel like shit not having finished it.
Also it's propably a fun story to tell.6 -
Been working on an Android app for some time. Silly me too lazy to use VCS. Anyway, one day android studio just could not build my project and errors that should not be errors popped up everywhere and nothing I did fixed the problem. Somehow my project got corrupted. 3 hours later of googling and trying to recover my project I had to resort to creating a new project and manually port the old files in one by one :( but all I have to say is WHAT THE FUCK ANDROID STUDIO3
-
Woke up today and my second thought was I should make a game. First being I need to pee.
I've no idea why. I've not been reading up on it (until today). I've not been playing games and I've not properly touched game dev since it was a unit in college 5+ years ago.
It has consumed me all fucking day. And I'm practically done with writing my project plan for it. Where the fuck has this come from?
I don't think I've been so excited to start working on a project since I started coding. -
Semesters about to end. The group project is coming to a close and I'll no longer be a TA since internship next semester. I'll finally have time to go back to my projects
Let's see how disgusting my code is after not looking at it at all for months
Let's see how little the comments help me remember what i was doing in each project5 -
That moment when you fcked up in a technical interview and realize oh I need to sharpen my skills, I need to improve my skills! I am not a worthy programmer now 💔
Then you go to work next day and have a busy day working as a project manager!
Now I know why my skills got rusty, and am not able to code as I used to be 😭😭😢2 -
Visual Studio Code and xdebug: my saviors to finally not have to put up with NuSphere PhpEd constantly shitting itself over memory limit issues in my 3,704 file PHP project.
-
Having not touched my cordova/phonegap project for so long, so many updates... removing and adding of plugins... Ohhh the pain! Errors, errors everywhere!1
-
Why oh why, why does my project not work... 2 hours later, "Oh Damn, I forgot a semicolon. That's it, I'm switching to Kotlin."1
-
Teamlead: Can you integrate feature X to project Y? The dev maintaining that project has lots of work and does not know how to do it, and we need to deliver it next week.
Me: Sure, I know that feature should not take long.
BIG MISTAKE!
For 2 hours now I'm trying to get that fucking project to run... errors, faulty configuration, tons of missing stuff in the project environment.
The list of errors grows with every step I get further. And I have not even started with the feature I should work on.
So good luck next week, my dear colleague, I'm not the one finishing your tasks from the past few months, I'm just fixing the stuff I actually need to finish my task. -
Best: getting some awesome code buddies, making my first game for my college event
Worst: not able to work and even abandoning a game dev project I wanted to make for 2 years due to college stuff
But I hope i will start working on the game again next year🤞1 -
I did basically nothing today at work, because my seniors refactored/restructured the project all day and I was not allowed to work on any issues, becausebecause it would just cause conflicts1
-
First week at new dev job. Had to move my workdesk 4 times, which means not being with my team. The guy that should help me get to know the code base & project had to change team and project, and is busy all the time. What should I do ??1
-
Hyping myself up for the project to the point of not getting bored, working until my brain gives up, repeating.
Also music -
Broke my leg in 4 places on Friday and the biggest thing stressing me out is not being in work. What’s going to happen with all my project deadlines2
-
Fuck you
Guy was on leave for 3 weeks and today came and say what you have done in 3 weeks.
I said project set up was not done on my system.
He said so what? what you have done6 -
Update to my last rant:
I wrote a reply to the person. Not scathing (as I'd have liked it to be) but firm and in a no nonsense way. My manager supported me. My project manager talked with the person to in order to convey what the issue is and to undo any misunderstandings due to written communication (we have different native languages).
I have not received a reply but my project manager told me that they are analyzing the problem now. I was also told that they are not a bad person. ^^
I think I'd like to believe that. We all make mistakes after all. -
Finally successfully set up continuous deployment on a personal project. Ever, really. And on one of my few open source applications. Destiny Clan Manager... it uses the Bungie API to help you manage your clan on Destiny 2. Neat little weekend project. Made some changes today, and thought... why not. It's all using Azure.

This program I’m writing to test a feature for my project is working and also not working at the same time and I’m pretty sure this is the only field where I can say that and it be the truth and make sense1

Embarcadero tracked my progress on a potential commercial project. To my employer, I know for a fact my employee email is not connected to my personal PC. How did they get that email?
I used the unlicensed pro version of 10.3 because I thought the community version would have the necessary components needed open the source and not break the project. I planned to use the software over the holidays to dissect the code to see what changes I can bring to the table before asking them to buy me the legit license. Embarcadero caught me. Even know my project directories. How did they do it I wonder?4 -
In about 1.5 hours i'm getting out of the side project/startup i've been working on with a few friends. Not an easy decision but had do it, as it had a negative impact on my real job.3

Opinions please. When end user is not paying for service, who is my customer? For example public facing government project2
-
Goals for 2019:
-Try not to get fired for writing trash code
-Get a new job (maybe :/)
-Work on my own project that hopefully takes off -
working from client's office from last 3 months.
The project manager whom I'm working with asking me to Join full-time there.
The company is way bigger than my current employer, package definitely will be 2x or more than my current package and I'm not sure.2 -
I'm working on my own smarthome project (how rare nowdays...:) ). I'm using microsoft's git repo. I'm not make my project open source, not because I'm a douchebag, but because I'm a very bad coder. My biggest fear is not the fact, that it would be commented as wtf is this code, but receiving pull requests from pros and I wouldn't even understand their code.
This is my "training" project (python, flask, apscheduler, sqlalchemy, bootstrap2, mqtt, micropython)
I'm thinking to make it public without accepting external pulls, just for me to learn more.
I'm just wondering your thoughts on this.
Thoughts?1 -
When Eclipse releases a powerfull Project configuration tool with not a single line of helpfull comments and I have to pleasure to add Features for my Company ....6
-
Jumping through hoops to get on Toptal is not fun. Got so sick of the sample project taking up my time that I'm turning it into a real website haha.2
-
Feeling a strong temptation to go in and just do some random refactoring on my work project. It has massive view controllers and 30% test coverage. I dunno about anyone else but in my book thats not good enough to release to paying customers.
-
I don't get why my boss wants to outsource the easiest part of our next project to India. Not hating on Indian developers, but the 13 hour time difference that makes coordination unnecessarily hard.
-
I am going to start a big project (6-10 weeks) in my computer science class and had an idea to create an application that allows the user to share their mouse and keyboard over several computers regardless of OS. I plan to do the project in C++ but have no experience creating applications with C++. Firstly, is this project possible in. NET Core? If not, could you point me to resources or give me some tips that would help me in my project. Thanks.6

My most successful project must have been a twitter bot that got news from cnn and substituted words... Pretty boring, but my only project with a commit that is not from me...
-
I'm gonna soon start on a gaming project with my team, it's not gonna be something we want to push but it's gonna be an on going project to slowly grow some skills within the whole learning and understanding game machenics. Any advice from any fellow veterans :3 ?2

What’s the best way to manage third party libraries in C++ especially when you’re not just dealing with software but several hardware?
I usually just store each library in its own sub module that gets rebuilt each update/pull, but this is started to get crazy as my project gets larger that it is not scaling.2 -
Inherited a project from my lecturer. He's been working on it since 2014. Over 200 classes and not a single line of javadoc. He's even written his own library code for things like task executors. Sometimes I wonder what obscure deity I pissed off in my past life to deserve this 😂😥
-
Not pushing myself for a better university, stuck here until diploma without good professors.
Taught students from my group, been checking their labs for three disciplines, tried holding an "open IT community evenings" for full 15 meetings, assembled and disassembled group of game developers.
Hobby project are all my hope. -
Hey guys! hope everyone is doing very well this week! and as always i really hope everyone has an amazing week ahead!, i would like to ask a question i am soooo stuck in my project and i need help!, so i have a line chart in my project... the graph shows but the lines do not?, i'm using angular and ionic!, i'm also receiving no errors in my console! :-(
i would love some input from you guys <3 would really mean alot!, thank you once again for taking the time to read my question!
kind regards Milo :-)3 -
Using bootstrap modals in an angular project and using the same spelling for ng-modal and not knowing why I'm not getting my model data for hours
-
Other teams not related to my project bothering me with some on top requests not related to my project. I have lots of tasks to do in my project. I'll put those to my client hours and tell my client about it. I will not put those in my non office time because during those time I am sleeping to help cure my illness. I need lots of sleep.
-
First project at new company ended up shit as clients kept using the backlog to define and refine their business requirements. Did not go to production.
Second project at same company ended up the same way, except it had more infrastructure issues than technical debt (and an asshole for a project manager).
Basically I'm scoring 2 for 2, and totally expecting my next project to be doomed too for a 3 score. Maybe I'll build up enough rep as that guy who dooms projects to just sit on my ass and collect my paycheck while I work on my personal stuff. -
One of my clients requested me to add
// comments
in one small project created using ReactJS.
a very small project that just calls a server to send and receive data.
I'm not sure, what I'm gonna comment in the HTML/JSX section :/7 -
DevGoals 2019
B awsome as usual and chill have fun wth coding not limited to working hours.
Make coding my prority one hobby... Then the rest 😉
Starting wt contributing to an open source project... -
Leaving things out of VCS. My usual folder structure is like this:
- Project name:
|-- env (virtual environment)
|-- Project name (git repo)
\-- (keys, credentials, etc.)
It makes sense, but after a while, more and more important stuff starts piling up in the outer folder (not version-controlled). -
What is your worst project you have worked on ?
Ans) my self, I have worked on CMS project called as Ellis pathway, which is my ever worst project I have worked on. It was developed on the language called omnimark, have you by any chance heard about it ?. Moreover it was used to process XML and the worst nightmare would when XML is 500mb and it is not valid after process. I have spent shit lot of hours fixing XML manually.. I literally fucked my self there. Thank God I somehow managed to quit and move on. -
I can't wait for my studies to be over 😡
I have to upload a research project which is due in a few days and there is simply no way for me to do so. My prof is "temporary not available" so now good luck -
End of project delivery and it's natural to lose my biological clock, I do not know if it's 3 AM or 3 PM
-
At first I got this crappy project which 400 users HAVE TO use but NO ONE WANTS to use - with ASP.Net MVC, ASP.NET MVVM (Yes, both!), KENDO MVVM, KENDO UI, JQUERY and not a single line of typescript or modern web framework...
After I told them, that was not why I was hired and not what I was promised, they told me in summer I will get this brand new project, not a single line of code written.
Every new project of my company in the last 2 years was in React / Redux / Typescript and ASP.Net Core WebAPI - So I invested a bunch of weekends to get into it to be able to lead such a new project!
Today I recieved a Email from my boss, that because "we have to be on the same stack as the sister-project" we will use jquery and kendo mvvm....
What the fuck... -
Anyone who has worked with travis-ci for building their python project git branch? Seems that my yml is not configured properly and don't know how to create one correctly. The current build error is attached. Any leads are helpful.
Ps: Have not pushed any unit test cases in this project
FYI: deliberately marked branch and stuff in astresik. you can assume it is correct.4 -
Starting a new job. The people are cool. They explain me the project. I open my computer and I’m not admin of it. Why it’s not automatic to add dev like admin of the machine. It’s fun to pass the first day of work waiting to learn the job. Please let me install my IDE and tools that I need to work with.10

A couple of us found out (with evidence) that one of our senior faked his way through his thesis by outsourcing his entire project to another company and using our student publication as a cover-up.
As miserable as he made my life last year (including ruining my chance of promotion) I'm still trying my best to not let my mouth open. (Can't say I'm not hoping for someone else to open their mouth) 😇5 -
Has anyone checked out Mycroft? Not Mycroft Holmes, but the AI framework. I'm interested in making a small ai project of my own, do you think Mycroft is a good place to start?1
-
My angularJS learning project is closely coming to an end. Not bad for a JavaScript first timer. Everything is laid out properly, the only thing left is to connect it properly with the backed :) . PS I'm using angular12
-
In our final year project of my course in 12th grade we have to present a project that shows what we have learnt over the years. I my self am doing a game in unity and i was very surprised to discover one of my colleagues had decided to do a quizz as his final year project... in unity which he is them going to export to web. I'm not one yup judge but i think it's a very poor choice of platform.
I hope the projects are better this year because last year was a disaster and somehow there still were people with good grades.5 -
I was reading about Lumnify's project analysis (https://lumnify.com/project-analysi...) and now I'm curious about my own probably horrendous code quality and how to improve.
Time to learn about code quality and tools I can throw my work at and get analyses back to help me not suck1 -
Just open my personal project I have not touched in a year. Cannot connect to Local DB neither remote. I am questioning my self why I use PHP and phpmyadmin. At the time I started project that was the only backend coding I knew, now I may redo it in node.js.2

Well I'm back on this stupid project with this stupid Product Owner and I really hate this, it really demotivates me.
I was assigned to this project (data analytics) for like 6 months, working alone with this stupid PO that knows nothing about team management or project management.
The guy had a "methodology" where he established all task to be done daily and would not tell me what we have to do in the entire project but instead would tell me day by day all the tasks to be done in each day. This means that HE was the one making the time estimation which is plain wrong!.
Anyways, I talked to him and told him that I need to have a wide overview of the project in order to be able to make a good time estimation, and it kind of worked.
But the guy is a pain in the ass, calls me every 4 hours to "talk" about the project and texts me every hour to check "how are we doing?".
This project was killing me, I had no motivation to work on it, I hated every minute of it, I didn't like it at all to the point my boss (not him) talked to me and asked me what was wrong with me. I told him: This is not the project for me. He told me: Ok let's try to move you to another project.
After six months of agony, the project was stale (customer approval, paperwork, blah, blah) I was assigned to two other projects that I liked, more software architecture and development, not data analytics.
And last week my boss came back to me with "well, the project was approved so we need you back at it".
WHAT PART OF I'M NOT THE RIGHT GUY FOR THIS PROJECT DIDN'T YOU GET?
Now I'm again with this dude, calling me, texting me, sending me infinite emails, asking for minutely updates...
I really don't want to be working on this project. -
A new guy joined my team two months ago he is more experienced than I am, but his knowledge yet is not good enough for our project. He is on live project working with me on a feature. I have major trust issues right now. How do people handle that in your teams?3
-
About to tell the boss I can spend more time tracking my time and moving tasks around in the latest of the project management softwares I’ve had to use here, or I can do the actual work. Not both.
-
Worst:
Working on a C# project that took ages (to the point it burnt me out) not long after dealing with a relatively simple static site project that ended up incomplete because one of the team members couldn't be arsed in providing the info needed.
Best:
Working on a project where I get to put my UI/UX, software architecture and fullstack dev skills to the test on a problem I have may benefit others, as I started a new job that pays well. -
All_Web_Geeks(){
I'm designing my portfolio web as a intern project, need nice ideas ..... Possible ideas...easy for me to build as I'm a noob ....and tips for web development
And why the fuck this live server shit not working,

I never tried a cigarette in my life. However the complexity of the project im working on ALL ALONE and im going all in on it and giving it my all, working alone on a project thats supposed to work at least 10 developers, is causing me excessive damage of stress. Cigarettes might be the solution. Not sure about alcohol cause usually it kills brain cells and id become even dumber as fuck. Plus i need full focus on this bullshit. Need Concentration. Cant concentrate if im under extreme levels of stress and pressure. I must be fast with this and finish the project this year 2023. I dont know what scares me the most: the level of complexity or the fact im not close to finishing it. What do you think is cigarette gonna solve my problem ?12
-
Good company refuced my contracting service. Fuck that. And reasons do not sound good to tell - like team did not want me anymore, maybe too dificult project, I am not independent enough, too many fixes after code reviews. This sucks that I do not know how to fix those parts, I have tried. And about too dificult project - how can I do better on dificult projects, I am not sure. There are projects of similar dificulty in most companies. And if projects would be easy, then everyone does that and reward would be small.18
-
The worst project i work on is my actual project, this is not a dev project but a "Run the Bank" project !
check 3 times a day that servers are okay, logs are okay, unduserssolvedunderstand and give the "how to fix" to the dev team #pan1 -
My new favourite RUNTIME c# error, evidently thrown by the standard library because the string is not present in the project:
"no parameterless constructor defined for this object"6 -
I wish the feeling of not being productive would go away. I’ve actually been making pretty nice progress with my project and I still feel like I’m not working on it enough.1
-
What can I build on a weekend which I can add in my portfolio and also learn golang. I am a web developer with sound knowledge of react, vue, node, django. I am learning golang.
PS - please suggest the project even if the project is not is golang. I want to improve my current skills also.6 -
"You should not bother about making your code so clean, I want features not pretty files"
As I'm leaving this job next week, someone will have to continue this project after me
I think we can say that my boss sucks -
Some tech guru: building software is a team sport.
80% of my team: ignores RFCs, avoids reviewing PRs, does not acknowledge messages (not even an emoji), calls a project they are working on "my project", later complains about everyone's mess. -

So finished 2 weeks project for co-worker. Now she can register cargo waybills to database and not to excel(I have nothing against it, but to have centralised way to keep data is better practice). Anyway project was done with Cpp, wxwidgets(first time trying GUI in my project), postgressql. Now I can see a lot of things I can rework, fix or add something new. I guess you can't finish fully anything.
