BAM! It's official. The Dutch people have voted against the new surveillance law!
It's about 49 percent against vs 46 percent in favor and the other part voted blank.
I'm happy as fuck!25 -
I FUCKING MADE IT GUYS! I JUST PASSED THE HARDEST COURSE AT UNIVERSITY WHICH IS ABOUT DATA STRUCTURES AND ALGORITHMS! I DRAGGED THIS WITH ME A WHOLE YEAR AND I JUST GOT THE NOTIFICATION THAT I MADE IT. I'M SO FUCKING HAPPY GUYS I CANT BELIEVE IT!!!!!!24
-
Just left a job where I felt like one of the best devs on the team. At my new job I feel I have so much to learn from the devs I work with. I'm so happy. :)9
-
Fuxk yeah! My code works! It's 2AM, I'm happy and there's no one around, so I wrote a poem :-P
What was once impossible,
Is now close to completion,
Thanks to my debug statements,
Which now await their deletion.28 -
I'm 40 years old today. Feels strange.. and getting older as a developer is not an advantage at all. But I got a wonderful little baby, a wife and a job I (almost always) like! So happy birthday to me 😊15
-
Co-worker has been sick for two days now (the guy that mainly helps me).
This has forced me to do nearly every ticket myself without asking questions.
It's going really great! I'm very happy about it tbh 😊7 -
I'm here, wide awake at 4:30 am... Not because my brain is stuck on a problem, but because I am so happy with the code I wrote that I'm too excited to fall asleep.7
-
So I moved from being the TL of a small team to a member of another team a month ago.
A dev from the old team sent me this today morning. He also sent some examples of what he found "cool", and tbh I'm pretty proud of those modules. I tried being very modest there, but I'm very happy 😅8 -
Every company should give a day off to employees for their birthdays.. Is it to much I'm asking for???
Well, happy birthday to me 🎉🎉13 -
Always wanted to build a URL shortener. Guess what I'm building right now :D (next to working on a blog article)
Somehow this is making me very happy 😊18 -
My cousin bought me a backpack big enough for both laptops and all the gear I need (with pockets for all). I'm a happy nerd 😄8
-
Hello world! I'm new here. Discovered devRant randomly and I'm so happy I did 😊 Problem is, I can't seem to get any work done now that I'm reading rants all day long 🙃10
-
Yeees! Got my contract for the time after my apprenticeship. 4 days/week and a shitload of 💰, from my point of view. 36k € per year.
Additionally I got the position I wanted, I'm responsible for the whole infrastructure and the conversion of our app from Winforms to WPF.
I'M HAPPY AS F*** xD22 -
Finally, fucking finally, after twenty fucking trillion tries, a huge ass import is going steady and fast.
I'm literally, out loud, encouraging the import process 😅
"Yesyesyes keeeep it going!"
"You can do this!!"
"You're doing very well!"
I feel like a fucking retard but I'm so happy its finally starting to work 😅9 -
!rant
WAAAAA I JUST GOT HIRED!
Sorry for all caps but I just got hired for a Java traineeship although I have a business management studies background, I'm super happy right now to finally pursue what I want!11 -
Hello world, I'm a 20 year-old CS student and I've been following you all from the shadows for a year now. I finally decided to join you, so here I am! I've got to say that I love this app and the community, so I'm happy to be part of it now. I'm currently on holidays, but I can't wait to share some good ol' rants once the uni starts again!
return 0;19 -
I fucking hate it when I'm working and people come and ask 'What are you doing ?' .. Even if they mean well ..
I'd be happy to show them and explain the hell out about finished product though .. !1 -
Code works.
I'm happy.
Maybe she's happy.
Code doesn't work.
I look frustrated.
She's definitely not happy.3 -
My co-worker convinced me to post my setup up since this is what I'm using when I work from home, or go on a sprint. I'm way more productive here than the office! Maybe they shpuld just let me work from home indefinitely 😎
I like to think of this as my happy place :)8 -
Happy rant.. life is going to change forever. I'm going to be a dad! Operation : Kiddie QA team... Is underway :D5
-
"our placeholder shows an @ symbol, but please don't use an @ symbol!"
i'm so happy knowing that the devs and designers who created this app are earning 20x what i am
🤡🌎6 -
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2020 from BG. I'm protecting my cat from the 2 hour barrage of fireworks outside. I wish you all well, I really do!3
-
So my girlfriend decided to surprise me with this cake... I'm happy with it but I feel violated as I'm PHP guy not .NET13
-
!rant
I just wanted to tell you guys:
That after a month or so working on a spaghetti pile of codes, our team finally decided to study and use Git for our project.
I'm so happy right now 🎉2 -

So, I lost my job a couple of weeks ago, and on a whim I decided to post an ad on a classifieds website advertising websites done cheap. Next thing I know I'm making money doing something I love as opposed to dealing with assholes at a checkout counter. I know the freelance life has its ups and downs but I'm happy!12 -
Best current career choice:
Quit to become a Freelancer.
OH BOY did I sleep bad directly after that decision - no contracts, no sales running.
Oh BOY do I now 2 days later sleep like a dam relaxed, happy baby :) - My network for the win!
The days before handing in my resignation I really looked forward to just leaving, but the actual task again was scary. Why? Cause until then future for me was bound to income, job=stable income = happy me, happy wife, happy child.
Now? Just 4 days later, If all goes to plan I'm already overbooked twice. Truth told!: Couldn't have done it without the network that I built over the years where I was employed. Let's see how this works out :)
I stand up with a huge smile each morning: Just a great feeling!5 -
Ending the year on 242!
It's not a big number but considering I've progressed from 10 contributions in 2017 to 242 in 2018, I'm happy!17 -
It's Friday, and I'm working from home. What better way to start the day with gulp and coffee with icing on donuts... Happy Friday to all :)15
-
So... I just switched...
2.9 times the previous basic salary, 1.5 times variable pay, one time stocks (conditions are there) amounting to 91% of my previous fixed pay.
I'm happy.1 -
Sure Edge... let me just give larry and sergey a quick call, I'm sure they will be happy to help me fix your problems.10
-
I've secured my first software developer job at a large bank in the UK after doing Java Developer training for the last 3 months. I'm so happy!2
-
Probably it will sound strange or slow to you but my ISP upgraded to optical fiber and now I got 50Mbps from 20Mbps that I had before. I downloaded 1GB file in 3min. I'm so fucking happy.15
-
That moment when someone is happy because I said I read their README file ahahah
This is a guy from a big corporation I'm integrating with, I guess no one ever reads his stuff xD2 -
The company I work at have never used Git or any other version control system...
Today I'm working on making everything ready for Git and removing "backup", backup_old", "fileX.php" etc.
In the end, I'll be happy and the company will be happy for the better management and control.5 -
Spent two days debugging my algo to figure it was a problem with the colors they picked and my logic was fucking flawless!
Sweetest feeling ever :D
I'm sort of color blind so I never check colors and I'm really straight about it with everyone: I don't pick colors.
Its a rant with a happy ending :)6 -
When you see this notif and realise that all the crap you put up with in work has been worth it... 😜2
-
I don't use Windows
I don't use MacOS
I have no Apple products
I don't do PHP
I don't do Ruby
And I'm still doing great!
See, it's possible to be happy and do great at the same time:)12 -
!rant
This is the second month that I'll actually earn money from developing software at my job, I'm so happy to finally see all the (self-)studying and late-night coding shed its fruits 😍6 -
Not really a rant but I'm just happy so I must share it.
Two days ago I uploaded a new project on github and today when I woke up I saw it on github trending! Only the C# section though, but still.
Feels weird as I'm usually not upload anything and the ones I have usually sit around 5-20 stars forever.3 -
Me: I'm not upgrading my MacOS beyond Yosemite, I am happy with my custom themes and plugins.
Manager: Guess what? You get to integrate ApplePay on our store's site. Don't forget it only works Sierra.
Me:2 -
Spent the last 3.5 days developing none stop for a client. Met all their additional deadlines and requirements.
It's been worrying me for for a month.
I'm now seriously happy and relieved.3 -
Happiness 100 to 0 in 0.1234ms
For a second I was happy to see my ++ to 1110
I was like oh my god, I'm fucking getting the Avatar and stress Ball.
Later when I scroll through rants, I found it is in binary. Damn.10 -
I'm really happy today. I'm not sure why, my life is in ruins on many levels, but at work I'm having fun and getting a lot more responsibility now. I even get to lead a meeting on Monday and be part of the management of a project which means I'll have people reporting to me. I suspect it's a sneaky way to get me more invested in the company so I'll want to stay after my studies but I enjoy it regardless. I finally have enough I need to keep track of to warrant carrying a notebook around and it makes me really happy 😂Hope you're all having a great day too!1
-
Woooo! Closed on a new home today, and it's ours. 2500 Sq ft, 4 bedrooms, huge farm kitchen. Five minute walk from a trailhead for a trail that runs along the shore of Lewisville Lake. Same commute to work. I'm happy.6
-
!rant, just wanted to express my excitement to someone
Not sure if this counts but technically I got my first freelance dev job designing an app for a club/small business at school. I have a lot to learn still but I'm really happy about the opportunity3 -
!rant
I got a promotion at work!
Is it weird that I don't want it because I still feel like I have too much to learn to no longer be a "junior"? I'm happy that my hard work is paying off but I'm worried that this is how bad senior devs are made.7 -
Yay! Passed advanced programming final test at university with grade 20/20 !
The test wasn't a challenge at all but I'm just happy 😀 -
Goddamn I'm happy that I've put a €3 rubber case on my phone.. it just fell face down from 2 meters height, if it wasn't for that protection, I'd have a €630 paperweight by now 😰
Seems like these things can happen to the best of us (I'm generally very careful with my gadgets).. Today I leaned not to omit your smartphone's protection 😶11 -
Managers: * send meeting to my calendar *
Fullstackclown: * sees email * Much obliged, I'm happy to... wait a sec... this calender meeting is for 4:30 PM... TODAY! ...and they've sent this at 4:47 PM?!?!
Managers: FULLSTACKCLOWN!!!! HOW COULD YOU MISS THAT MEETING TODAY?
Fullstackclown: lol

Damn github is da shit.
I'm sure all of those people who ranted about committing their passwords and keys will be happy
PS. I don't know if this is new but I'm happy either way :D6 -
I asked for last minute day off tomorrow. And was told yes (probably very begrudgingly). I'm so happy that I don't know if these tears are from a breakdown or happiness...11
-
THX for 500++ !!! I'm so happy I found devRant by exident. I love reading rants and sometimes post my own stories.
PS: Now I can wear my JS Shirt and drink Red bull like in rl 😂 Thx again!24 -
Sometimes I miss programming, but then I look at my programmer boyfriend's code and I'm like, "Never mind, I'm okay," and I go back to being carefree and happy while he's going grey from the stress. 🙆🏽3
-
I feel like I'm in an abusive relationship with Ubuntu.
I love it but whenever I'm with it it screws up my environment and doesn't work when I need it to.
I go back to Windows reluctantly and get everything set up and stable. I'm happy, but not excited about it. And then, within a few months, I get that thought. Maybe if I put enough work in I can make Ubuntu work for me as my main environment.24 -
Minutes away from Ludum Dare submission closing. Finalizing game build to upload and submit and I get this...!!!
FUCK!
I'm too exhausted to give a shit at this point. Guess I'm out. Still pretty happy with what I managed to make. Had a late start, first LD and I actually managed to make something I guess XD
I'm going to bed T_T6 -
i'm happy to share with you, skyRant, a devRant client is now available in the playstore.
the real devRant app may have been removed from app stores. But devRant will never die!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...16 -
Yaay, after several hours of tinkering I finally got a simple chat over TCP working in rust. I'm happy, I like rust :)15
-
I made it! 5 pull requests for Hacktoberfest :) .
I'm super happy because until now I really didn't know how to help other projects or even have the motivation, but now I can say I have helped a few get their code right :P7 -
So I made a PR into Keras after a loooong time. It ended up being merged as the 5000th commit of the repo. I'm so happy 😭3
-
Every time I'm looking through the Minecraft code trying to reverse it I stumble upon this little historic artifact and it never ceases to make me feel weirdly happy :D
-
Look honey! I optimized the code in such a way only a few lines are needed, I'm so happy with this efficiency. Her reply: "Ooooh, that's nice!! <blankstare>". Yeah, uh, we'll talk later.8
-
I'm no longer happy at my current company. I'm deciding to resign once I get another job. Very badly looking for another job.7
-
Having trouble logging into an app I am suppose to be working on with another dev. Debugging and found this:
// TODO: Temporary Optional because the API is not working properly
... i'm not happy for so many reasons -
Trigger Warning - Don't date JavaScript developers.
They Promise to Callback but they won't. You'll Await in vain. They don't know how to Express themselves and React to such situations.
You might not be happy to hear this, but I'm trying to save you from a Garbage situation1 -
What's a last day on the job suppose to be like?
I'm sure it's not working until 2am helping the company finalize a project. They are not happy that I decided to go to bed after a 12 hour day instead of pulling an all nighter helping.8 -
My evening: going from 8e-5 seconds to 1.4e-5 seconds.
I'm pretty happy. I'm now 3x faster than the next fastest library available.19 -
I was very hardworking (at least more hardworking than now)
But recently I've became very lazy , VERY LAZY !
I'm not happy abot that at all.
Any suggestion that'll help ?8 -
// Why I'm happy today:
CloseHipChat('laptop');
UninstallHipChat('iPhone');
while (Today <= 'Sunday' ) {
Vacation();
}2 -
Meetings, responding to emails, handling urgent tickets, etc. If I could just get four uninterrupted hours of coding in a day, I'd be happy. But I'm basically in meetings all morning and usually have at least 1 more in the middle of the afternoon.2
-
Finally, finally, finally! My very first app with React Native is up and running. I know the hard part comes now, but I'm so incredibly happy, considering that I didn't even think I would start developing an app until two weeks ago, let alone learning React...6
-
Previous employer demanded I work on Christmas Day or risk being terminated. Wasn't the final straw (I was young and needed the work) but did start the slow spiral.
I'm grateful now, happy in my current job for about 9 years with plenty of career growth. -
So happy right now!
I just finished a project which I started today.
It is a java bytecode class/method/field renamer. You can rename those things inside a jar file. It has a nice dark-themed GUI and it works great :)
I'm just happy because I couldn't find something like this on the Internet and wanted it since I started learning programming. Also I am happy because I did it in 1 Day and learned so much about the Java Bytecode!
It's using ObjectWeb ASM btw.7 -
Just commited to my repo ; last commit was 6 days ago. I'm happy, finally decided what algorithm i'll use and implemented it !! :)
-
I did a presentation on a tool I wrote to around 60 people (not a lot for some I know) , but most importantly all the feedback has been positive so I'm pretty happy.5
-
Dev friend: Happy in your job?
- Me: Kinda, don't see myself doing it for another 35 years tho.. :(
Dev friend: Go back to school, learn computer sciences and get a dev job. You'll love it.
So now I'm back in school, no regrets whatsoever. Without a doubt best advice.. :) -
It is about 2 years since I started coding and there's a perfect movie quote that describes my life change.
"I was blind, but now I see."
I'm so happy that my life went this way and I'm proud to be developer.2 -
Happy Christmas fuckers.
I don't normally swear, but I'm with family in Ireland and I'm not the designated driver for once, so fuck it.
Have a good one!1 -
my parents just know I work with computers. they are happy that I have a job that pays well, and i'm happy.
do i need anymore then that?5 -
!rant
I just bought a personal license for a Jetbrains product, in this case Rider.
Jetbrains is one of those companies that I'm so happy with that I'm willing to actually spend money on a product of theirs.
So thanks for existing <32 -
I have nothing to rant about today, I'm actually pretty happy. Life's pretty good, I'm getting stuff on track to graduate, really feels like me and this girl are starting to become something more than friends. Everything's just good right now.
Anyone else just happy about life?6 -
Twenty years ago today (I double-checked) my father bought me the Liberty Basic compiler for my 8th birthday, marking what I consider my first foray into programming.
Thanks to that, I'm a tired and moderately happy 50 year old man.
Happy birthday, hobby from hell. :)5 -
I got recognized!
I'm new here and was mostly learning, but my team pushed through some bad issues and I got recognized as well. Even for helping whatever little I could.
For all the rants of bad bosses and clients and work. Here's a happy one. :)
I'm in good company in this company. -
They've just brought in a desk to my office. They're gonna bring another Dev in...
This guy apparently works Erlang, Ocaml, Python... I work all C# so this is bound to be fucking good! Hahaha I'm happy.3 -
I'm giving these out to the trick or treaters, do you think they'll be happy? They say that knowledge is worth more than sweets in my country!2
-
I'm new to devRant, regretted never heard before. Always heard about stackOverflow community.
Happy to be here, sorry for joining in late.
Looking forward for better build, fun and code share :)5 -
I'm a happy programmer. My thing works.
ASCII art studio. Running in Linux console using c++ and ncurses. Mouse compatible.
CW tech demo 2 coming soon... Interactive tech demo this time! -
Not claiming any originality here... I'm just happy to finally have included it. We'll see if it passes PR review - might make my coworkers "steam" a little (pun intended) ;)2
-
Just wrote a script that takes anything correctly tagged and pushed to master from gitlab, pushes it to the server, builds a jar and creates a docker image from it. On the one hand I'm happy that I don't have to do it from hand anymore, on the other hand I get the feeling I'm automating myself out of a job...9
-

Hopefully I'm getting an early promotion this month and moving to a city I wanted to 😄
Also got a glowing review from the boss to be read by his boss.
Gonna negotiate the raise tonight. Naturally, I'm super happy, so I Thought I'd share. Wish me luck.1 -
I just wrote a function with a while loop AND recursion because I wasn't paying attention.
That was fun. Also, MySQL isn't happy right now. I'm posting while I'm waiting for my local service to restart.3 -
I love, love, LOVE Unity Engine!!!
Great tutorials, good documentation, helpful community, easy to understand interface...
It's all just... so beautiful.
I swear to god that I'm not shilling for them, I'm just so happy that, as a generally lazy SOB, I've been working for about 10+ hours now in one sitting, and I'm still not bored or frustrated that I don't get something.
God bless you Unity, I might actually make something outta myself...maybe...someday.8 -
Some weeks ago I post a rant about the fact that my supervisor (I'm in internship) said to my teacher that he was happy of my work, today he said to me that he wants to hire me as Business Analyst and Business Intelligency ! So proud of it !4
-
I had 2 features I coded pushed to prod today at work! It's my first week at my new job. It made me realize how toxic and detrimental my last job was to both my self esteem and career. I'm so happy!!2
-
My employer is a good person. He is very money-minded, but since he is a very good person, that's not the only thing in his mind.
I'm happy to work here ☺️3 -
Exported my first cutscene into a video from Unreal Engine, I'm unrealistically happy :D
It's just following a course, doing pretty much the same things and it's not nearly perfect, but it's still a nice apartment display with a good amount of details so I'm still proud of myself :)2 -
"can you please approve my PR?" yes, sure I'm happy to drop the context I built in my head, to pick up your totally different context, review your code and then rebuild my context.
I get an automated alert on slack whenever I'm requested a review on git, can't you fucking wait 20-40 mins when I'm out of the zone? Ffs.3 -
I'm so happy to have an electric car in times like these, not only it saves me a whole lot on gas, I can keep using it without the need to visit public places to fill it.5
-
Hey guys, Today I created my first action on google assistant an it got deployed. I'm very happy and also I got the mail for the shirt. With 2 months I'll get it. I'm trying to make the action run in English and Hindi (Nation language of India) so that I can earn google home.6
-
Today I got kicked out of college. On one hand I'm happy that I have more time to work on my company but on the other hand I'm scared I may have fucked myself for my future.
They said I have the possibility to return after 1 year. Anyone have advice for what I can do over the next year?10 -
I'm humbled, this just arrived! I'm so happy and grateful right now!! Thank you devRant!! (I'll post another photo with the stickers applied soon)1
-
Anyone else stuck with Winblows for the moment and want a killer minimal wallpaper? I made this yesterday and I'm pretty happy with it.
https://drive.google.com/open/...4 -
I'm so tired I just wrote
background-color: round;
and I still have homework…
still happy though, I just got my first domain!1 -
I'm facing big issues on one of my apps and luckily a user is helping me doing some tests as I can't reproduce the issue. He just sent me an email and guess what?! He wrote "happy weekend". No. It's not going to be an happy weekend for me.1
-
Coffee vs black tea?
I'm walking to my school and It's just freezing out here so I was thinking about if it should be coffee or some tea today.
Happy friday xd12 -
Today i did it, after WEEKS of stuggle and suffering, this fcking odbc driver with multi db login WORKS on cpanel with php. I'm happy, ashamed, and i need a third beer.
-
Side project is swift. Loads of feedback! I'm happy. Fucked up part is the users who wants it uses Android. Oh well, time to learn React Native2
-
Sorry, I have to say this. I get patriotic at times.
Asian Cup 2019, we Vietnam had made it to Quarter Finals after defeating Jordani in the penalty shots.
I'm happy. It's stressful watching the shots. It's stressful watching the match but I'm happy. We're happy.
And now back to homework.2 -
Automatically generating docs from DocBlock comments, then converting the output to markdown AND publishing it all to GitHub Wiki using travis took me two fucking days!
I'm SO happy with the result now!
I even had to fork and update the composer package I'm using!!!
Here's the link to the wiki:
https://github.com/Skayo/slid/wiki7 -
So my MacBook's trackpad was behaving weird since this morning. Touch was working fine but for clicks I had to press down hard. Annoyed me all day. Then suddenly now it's fixed itself. So now I'm happy about it but im like, why, how. :/4
-
I suck doing frontend development. I'm slow, and I usually struggle to obtain the results I'm looking for... but today I'm happy because I almost finished the website for one of my side projects:
https://www.avatar-cli.dev
I'm going out of a long depression, and seeing things done is really helping me to improve my mood and have more energy.
By the way, thanks to the https://getzola.org project, it would have been impossible to me without it.9 -
I'm kinda happy that i'm not a unity developer rn.
Tha fuck is going on, unity is introducing a 'runtime installation fee'?
Seriously?
Really makes godot very attractive out of all sudden...9 -
Our community on devrant is pretty big and I'm guessing also diverse. I'm trying to find some information about developers in underdeveloped nations - how is your life compared to the rest of the people in your country? Are you happy with your pay? What about startups? Any good startups that stemmed from underdeveloped nations?2
-
I seriously don't get it guys, can you answer to this post with your job and the os you use?
I'm a games developer and I'm happy on Windows,I couldn't even imagine switching to Linux or Mac, but everybody's on either a Mac or Linux.
I have to know why.41 -
Ever heard of this custom ROM called Unleash-OS ?
Well if you've not, you're doing really well in your life. If you're happy, you can scroll away right now.
And in case you want to test strength of your happiness.
Just see here :
https://github.com/Unleash-OS/...
If you still are happy, you're pretty damn happy person. If you're not well I'm sorry, it'll just take you 10 minutes to recover.
The reason why I ranted about this is that I want everyone to be sane and NEVER do some shit like this.
Peace !1 -
Thinking about taking part in a two colour game jam on the weekend, I'm thinking some kind of retro space adventure game.
(I'm not the best pixel artist, but I'm pretty happy with how this mock-up looks)6 -
My JS app can crash IE11. Totally reproducable.
Had a fun debugging session to find out how this is triggered. Happens inside a deeply recursive call in a library I'm using which redraws the DOM.
Found a hacky workaround to avoid that as I see no real solution. It's not like I'm responsible for fixing IE. These are the days where I'm happy I'm mainly a backend dev...4 -
Animator for 15+ years. Started self learning python a few months back. I made my first useful app today... Move the cursor every 10 seconds. 2019 is off to a good start.
I'm new to programming but I already love devRant.
Happy New Year everyone! 😀5 -
It's been 1 month in my first dev job.
I'm really happy but there is one problem...
Despite my role as a full stack dev in a fullstack team, I deal with only frontend stuff so far.
I asked to get some backend tasks from my boss, and he said "in due time".
Is it because I'm a junior? Is it normal?5 -
So I guess, I'm a technical recruiter, part of the screening process, now, for Java applicants. Yay or Nay? I'm not sure if I should be happy or not, because I hate Java and Oracle
-
Just saying hello. I'm a Google Store chronic downloader and found this. I'm so happy to see so much conversation around coding. I've been learning by myself for 2 months and since then I've been desperate to have someone to talk about programming and stuff. I hope I can learn more and have fun here :)5
-
Ah yes, I'd be happy to completely change the thing I'm working on, that is now unrelated to how you originally described the task to me.1
-
I overhauled an entire program, and everyone is really happy with the results. But the best part, I predicted that it would take 2 months to complete, and then I completed it in two months.
The overhaul was a beast, mind you; swimming through backend spaghetti code and having to redo the entire front end was tiresome, but I'm happy with the results.
More importantly, i'm really happy that people are no longer complaining about crashes. Our original program suffered from some really horrible crashes; some crashes that couldn't even be explained by stackoverflow. Whatever I did during the overhaul corrected for these weird errors.
Time to celebrate. Before more minor bugs are found by users. (i.e. Universe always makes a better idiot) -
Guys I'm so freaking happy!
My sem end exams are done
I finally got to sleep more than 3 hrs(slept for 10 hrs) after almost over a week
I can finally start with my projects and study something awesome
December is going to be fucking lit you guys!!!4 -
Not a rant, not even dev related..
I'm just soooo super excited & happy for Janja Garnbret, she won first ever olympic gold in climbing.. woop wooop! -
Before wk200 roles around I'd like to finish my little indie game. I'm using unity to create it and it's the first game I've ever made. It's been taking me a while but I'm hopeful.
Also happy wk100!4 -
Has anyone switched to the new fire fox?I have I'm actually pretty happy with it it feels smooth and nice i just wanna know if anyone else likes it45
-
Today is a funny Monday: all the people at office forgot their keys at home (me included, also boss included) Until we can enter the office, I'm going to code at public library. At least I'm happy to carry portable Notepad++ in my pendrive!!
-
DAMNIT. I love Netflix, I do, but if you want to really stop the illegal downloading in the long term then don't remove series or movies I'm watching.
I get it, it's these big companies pulling their content but it's just so backwards.
Happy new year!5 -
Immediately after I fix a big I'm super happy.
Then I think about how it got there I'm the first place and realise it's because I made a stupid mistake and I'm super angry with myself.
I didn't choose the bug life, the bug life choose me.3 -
The perks of working for a .NET shop:
1. 130€ of credit to burn on Azure every month, so I can run some long builds there, to have VPN/proxies for free that are not easily blacklisted and whatever else I can think of. Today I set up a VM for my wife to RDP into, so she doesn't have to do her job search on her company laptop (which is the only computer she has right now). -
Waking up in the morning, sick as fuck.
Happy because I don't have to go to my IT job for the next few days.
Depressed because I'm feeling too weak to develop or learn anything at home. -
My first django website going into dev environment. (Management portal for company's license management)
I know there will be a river of bugs but, still I'm happy.
Also, this was the first assignment on my first job. -
Sometimes i feel pity for the people who had to work without git. Then I realize that the same people are my boss now.
Screw them! I'm happy they had to go through that!! 😂😂 -
It works. My code fucking works. It shouldn't. I got tons of errors, I changed to some obscure shit, expecting it to fail, but it fucking works. I should be happy, but I'm mad for not understanding how.3
-
I'm not perfect. I've made fuckups. But most of the fuck ups I've made have been in unimportant code that wasn't used by anyone (part of the reason I'm not super happy with my job but whatever). But I've just found a fuckup that was in code that did matter...4
-
A couple of days ago I posted here about getting finally getting a job and being really fucking happy.
Someone posted saying people who talk like that will be fucked soon.
Now I'm sitting here at the ER waiting for a doctor to drain my anal abscess..3 -
Wooh! I finally have some work, I'm now the composer for a small dev team, unpayed of course, but this is a fangame, a passion project. I'm so happy!4
-
No rant today. I'm actually really happy where I am. There are things that can be improved from a stack perspective, but I'm happy to have a good supervisor who's supportive of my training.2
-
Being forced to leave the serenity of my home office where I'm happy and not riddled with depression to work from an open work space with long shared desks. I can't effing wait!2
-
So we just finished moving my stuff to my apartment for the year. I haven't been so happy in ages, to think I'm finally going to have a place with my girlfriend :)
On the other hand, I didn't do shit for my projects today. Again.2 -
First month at the new job and it's alright. Fine. Totally O-K. And you know what? I'm happy with that. Like, happy-in-general happy. Yikes! I've got a good routine going where I actually do stuff that matter to me and I can also see some opportunities on the horizon; a bit like a Choose Your Own Adventure kind of thing. I've also got this thing - a date? - planned with someone I bumped into while running an errand. What the fuck is happening... 😅✌️1
-
More beer and more music. Who needs more in life? 😌
Maybe I don't understand myself. But I understand that I'm happy. And that's what counts15 -
Sometimes I get so excited about doing something that I'm genuinely happy. But when the initial high fades and I'm ten layers of complex code problems deep I always remember how useless I really am
Oh but this time it's gonna be different.
yeah right4 -
First time joined js13k competition, without concrete reason. Just wanted to try out am I able to use my JS knowledge and fit game into 13kB. And actually, I'm really happy with final shape of game. Did anyone else participated? :)
-
What's more better than diving in for a REST after an entire day of SOAPing? I'm happy I'm getting no REACTions after all that time being NODE.1
-
Phew.. My exams are now over (almost...next in 23 days). Now I can continue development. I'm so happy today. But tired too. It feels good coming back here.6
-
I'm doing a code review on a huge feature, basically touching every part of our authorization logic, and man... It's like my colleague writes his code to be as hard to read as possible. He's 60+ and you'd think he'd have learned how to write good and clear code, but nope. "Let's make it cool cool and I look like I'm a genius. And if I can spend 3 keystrokes less on a function I'm happy". Fuck me.
-
So Pop!_OS is my primary OS for development and Windows is my primary OS for gaming. I have Pop!_OS installed on my laptop (alongside Windows but I almost never use Windows on my laptop) and Windows on my desktop gaming computer.
One of the things I love about Debian-based OSes like Pop is the apt package manager. One of the things I've always hated about Windows is the fact it was lacking a cli package manager like apt.
Then I did a Google search for one and found Chocolatey. Curious about it, I installed it on my laptop (I was in Windows at the time to use FL Studio, which I've found doesn't work very happily with Wine.) With Chocolatey, I installed VirtualBox and Vagrant, and I have to say, I'm not disappointed. I'm ecstatic I've finally found a cli package manager for Windows.
TL;DR: If you use Windows and you don't have Chocolatey, get it.1 -
I'm so happy.
If nothing goes wrong I'm starting a formation on eletrónics, robotics and hardware in the end of the month...
Oh yeah, exactly what I needed right now. -
People are up doing tequila sunrise and getting smashed in the early mornings. And I'm over here happy to be working on some code.4
-
I'm happy to be getting a raise, but why do I have to have lunch with the boss to get it? I don't want to hang out with him.1
-
I'm really happy 😁
I'm usually a library developer, but I bought a domain and started a website: forbylinux.com
I'm constructing my own Linux distribution and package manager from scratch.
Anyway, I've never used CSS, html and JavaScript before, how does it look? (It's kind of empty, still have to add content)9 -
I had been struggling with writing some test cases for days - so I decided to delete all the test methods I'd written and start from scratch - took me less than 30 minutes!
I'm happy now -
I'm not talking machine code level here, but purely from a personal development angel - how deep are you happy to go to understand the 'stack'? Is understanding the current top level framework enough?4
-
I was so happy when Facebook introduced standalone Messenger web app so I wouldn't get so easy distracted from work by Facebook. Well guess what, I'm getting a new addiction in exchange: reading devRant
-
I get invited to happy hour and get togethers all the time but don't want to go. Stop inviting me to shit. I'm sick of thinking up excuses. There are only so many times I can say my kid has something going on.2
-
A shitty internet connection and visual studio make the best of fucking friends. This is going on a half hour now.
Had to switch to my windows partition for a project and I'm not happy.
Cry for me Fedora. -
So someone just beat my highscrore i held for over 2 years in a game I release on Google Play. On one hand I'm happy some put a lot of effort into playing my game😆, on the other hand I'm sad I no longer have the highscrore😢...4
-
Happy to be here 1st day and I'm enjoying it ,best social network ever for programmers ...been looking for such for so long and starting to get addicted.
Here I've learnt here that I need to start learning new stuff real fast.
Here I feel not alone, cos here I feel at home.
I'm Sam from Nigeria ( any Nigerian here?)2 -
I'm cross-compiling software I create for many years. Ignoring languages targeting some kind of VM, some additional efforts were always needed.
Go (as far as I can see, since 1.5) is doing this right and quite straightforward - select target and architecture, issue build command and you get native executable file. I'm happy ... B)7 -
I'm searching for some stuff on creating compilers, interpreters.
I couldn't find something really good on the internet so far, so if you know some good resources, I'd be happy to know them.2 -

Recently I bought a Moto Z2 Play, and it really it's an amazing phone, it includes the battery mod, and given than with my average usage, it lasts for me for day and a half, I'm more than happy :D3 -
My tokenizer can how tokenize many statements rather than just a single statement. ^_^ I'll make it open source once I've done a bit more work on it but so far I'm happy.9
-
I know I shouldn't do this, but I'm so frickin bored I end up resuming tasks from work here at my parents' house, in my old bedroom.
Anyway, merry christmas and happy holidays! -
I've been looking for the source of the bug for 4 hours at least.
Tipical, it was an i I wrote for a j.
I wrote yesterday.
I'm angry, but very happy because it was the only thing left. ☺️3 -
Dad: what do you do in IT classes
Me: mostly, learning new languages!
I'll never forget that confused face of his. Of course I explained him there were languages in informatics to. Still, it was pretty funny explaining it all. I'm happy he really thinks informatics is the future! -
I'm so happy I've just made all the 4 pull requests necessary to get a t-shirt from DigitalOcean! So, how is this anyway, will they send me an email asking for my size?2
-
Just heard today that our team's senior dev might be leaving soon after fresh challenges and opportunities. I'm happy for them, but it's sad to think about that they won't be around soon anymore..2
-
Please Santa, fix all my bugs for Christmas!
(i know it's a lot, i'm also happy if you help me with a half) -
Right now anything I write quickly becomes crap. I'm happy. It means the whole "lets try out raw javascript again" thing actually helps me learn something.
-
Had to write a recursive MySQL query today and, oh lordy! It's not intuitive at all.
It works now so I'm happy, but I spend more time on it than I'm willing to admit...
(source: https://mysqltutorial.org/mysql-rec...)2 -
The one thing I'm happy about is the fact that humans have agreed on time itself. 12 months and 12 hours. 60 minutes, and 60 seconds.2
-
I'm so happy it only took 2 months to fully dominate this outdated-in-few-months-js-library-or-framework.js1
-
After 2 weeks of 9 am to 9 pm working days I decided to rest a little and go home before 7pm. I'm happy because I can code for my side project...1
-
Why do I always forget how much work it is to get a new linux machine running? One minute I'm happy with my new Hardware the next I'm cursing it because I need to get my wifi drivers from some github account.3
-
From next Monday to next Friday i'm coding with a fried sth. for a school project.
The Plan: a complete Forum
Problems: Friend was ill since >4 Month and is currently ill since the last 3 Days..
Next problem: It's code!
Happy coding...1 -
I think it's kinda cool that almost all of my work _could_ be done within a browser (IDE, docker, etc, etc..)
I'm happy as I am but I like the option5 -
No idea, it just makes me happy. I'm happy when I'm programming :)
Well I mean, most of the time. Every once in a while I just want to kill myself because Tim didn't do his work properly and now there's no fucking documentation for his stuff.
Ignoring those moments, I'm happy when programming :) -
Long story...
I'm a junior-ish dev (worked 3 year part time in a small company)
I've been assigned the happy task of doing some performance profiling on our windows application to see where we can work to make the app run smoother.
Visual studio profiler keeps crashing when generating the report when I do CPU sampling.
I'm a very unhappy Dev right now.1 -
I made a custom CMS using Phalcon in PHP for a client we needed to get out of WordPress. I'm happy with it and even considered forking it into a product to expand upon and sell, but I'm starting to wonder if this is a bit behind the curve.
So if I made a CMS today, what language and database combination should I use? I went with Phalcon because I was impressed with the performance, and because I'm the most experienced with PHP, but I'm open to any and all suggestions3 -
After 1 year decided to install Nextcloud on my Digital Ocean droplet under a subdomain. I'm happy with the results, and now I'm moving my Google Drive data (including contacts) to my Nextcloud instance.
Wish there is a Google Docs equivalent for Nextcloud I could install!.
I'm studying the chance to offer cloud space to my family for free too.3 -
Happy happy joy joy!
That's right
I'm all happy and shit
I'm gonna get people out of this mess and smile broadly from ear to ear1 -
Writing my first code review. Even though it really is a nice review and I'm happy with the solution code, I still somehow feel like an asshole for each critique I make. Maybe it's unavoidable with code reviews / pull requests?3
-
Screw it! Finally moved out of toxic, demotivating, slow paced, but really comfortable comfort zone(large company).
It's been a month, relatively very happy, latest tech stack, fast paced environment (literally no one has time to play politics or gossip), with 40% hike. I can clearly see I'm burning out but at least I'm enjoying work.
Down the line I'm sure I appreciate myself for this big move.2 -
*click 'create pull request'*
*satisfied*
*pat on shoulder*
Will get comments surely, but I'm happy that I could make a PR -
Juat started a redesign of my portfolio & this is first time I've actually been genuinely happy with it. Every other time I just say fuck it and launch with a design I'm not happy with because I wasted so much time trying to make it perfect that I'm not focusing time on client work and losing money.
tldr: stoked on my new portfolio design -
!rant
learned about antd on Reddit when it had version 4.0.1 released and so far rewriting from scratch the frontend of one of my products has been a breeze, specially since I'm using Typescript.
I'm absolutely happy with the results so far, and how forms are managed within the library makes Formik redundant, great!
having React Cosmos is helping a lot when designing my components too.
In general, I'm really happy! -
For the first time in my coding journey I finally learnt how to use front awesome I'm so happy for me
-
This one makes me legitimately angry:
https://github.com/fzaninotto/...
This library is used by thousands of devs on a daily base while the code-base is an unchangeable legacy monster.
I could vomit, because I'm so happy!
Jeez! -
Conky thread!
If you use conky (https://github.com/brndnmtthws/...), make a screenshot of what your config looks like, and maybe also share the config with a link!
I will also contribute mine, once I'm happy with it.5 -
My senior colleague turned buddy submitted his resignation today. I'm happy for the new opportunities coming his way yet at the same time I know I will miss the guy who taught me so much. Bittersweet moment...
-
I made my first closure in PHP, but I'm not happy.
For me Javascript closure are nicer.
What do you think about?8 -
I don't know if I'm 'good'.
I've only been doing this for a few years.
I do think I'm 'responsible'. I'll admit my mistakes, I'll fix them, I'm happy to get out of my comfort zone. I don't mind working with various folks to get the job done (even if that produces a rant or too... that's healthy). If someone has a different idea I'm happy to try it, and I communicate with those I work with about what is up and such. -
Y'all panicking about act 13, but I'm happy because the developing dictatorship that I call my home had finally been accepted illicit. I'm talking about Hungary and Victor Orbán, the angry gnome.
-
I finally got a nice Ubuntu setup working and running. No wrappers or drivers for my existing wifi dongle but a new one on the way. And Cities Skylines has Linux support so I'm happy. I love it Cheers guys xo1
-
What field do you guys work in?
Do you feel like you're making a difference?
I work in language sector, where my job (as a one man startup) is to help people overcome language barriers using various tools I make for them.
I'm happy with where I'm going, but I'm concerned about my future as I'm not making enough money :/
Anyway, I wanna hear your stories!9 -
Windows Phone might be well dead, but their memory still lives in Bing Rewards! 🤣
(Info: French version of tile to promote the MSN News app - I'm using it already, so everyone's happy 😉)4 -
I work solo on the Network Services Team at American Eagle as a developer. I've been working on an application for diagnosing wireless from a devices perspective.
I'm extremely happy that my app will be rolled out to the first store for real testing, and get some feedback :)3 -
As much as I may look down on Python for how simple it may look, I'm happy of it for having done a pomodoro with music playing in that language.
I'm sure that will help in dealing with my 4 projects and exams due before a month. -
In response to my own previous rant (https://devrant.com/rants/1538792/...) , I try and help my self, I asked few questions to my self, What do you need in life to live?
> a couple of friends
> a (good) job
> parents
> a girlfriend (optional)
> a sufficient salary
and I've got almost all of that, so I'm being optimistic on wards , and I'm installing Ubuntu so there's that, in the end it matters if your're *happy* and with all of this I still am not happy, I am being optimistic but not happy, there's something left out from, there's something I'm still missing out9 -
I've been working super hard for the past while.
I'm unhappy with almost all my work but my coworkers seem happy so whatever.
I'm just constantly irritated with myself for taking so long or making mistakes or whatever.
Gotta give a presentation tomorrow, not feeling excited.
Everything sucks , god fuckinngfck fuck my life2 -
Today I'm really happy!! Solved a problem I was stuck with for past two days and I had almost believed there's no way I'll be able to solve it any time soon.
-
When the client gives a feedback on Tuesday, the project is due of Friday, and he starts yelling "I'm not happy with your job"
-
I just spent nearly 4 straight hours dealing with iptables and RancherOS. First the system resets got me, then the config format got me, then netmasks, then gateways, then iptables. Now I'm just relieved to have it all working and a bit happy I understand iptables much better.2
-
I was so excited to learn React Native and I know basics of React too, so I thought it will be fine.
Spent one and half hour watching video and I was happy that I'm almost gonna finish this and last point was Navigator......
Got error its deprecated and have to take another way. I'm still searching how to do it and eventually now I'm not in mood of learning that.... Fml1 -
Just got my vncviewer working, I'm so fucking happy!
More context -- I recently started working on a graphics intensive project and really need this debugging screen that runs on server. -
I'm so happy today. Fixed a bug that was haunting me for weeks. My ionic app was working on Android, the browser, the toaster,... Everything but an iPhone. I thought it was an issue with iOS and this bug really messed with me.1
-
So I thought I'd try out lynx, the text based browser, and it's actually pretty neat xD kinda weird navigation but I'm actually pretty happy with the experience so far.
-
I finally found how to make a parallel projection of a 3D vector on the screen with SFML, I'm really really happy but the most of my school project is still to do...
-
last week I finished a course on k8s "simply, for developers". Today I decided to fiddle with kubectl to move a project I'm working on to k8s and it was a complete success (thing runs on minikube and pulls containers from a private Gitlab registry).
I'm happy with the results, there is still room for learning k8s and devops in general. -
Today a beautiful woman followed me on github. I was sooo happy ^_^ on her profile she also added her insta link, so I clicked. it sems, she's married :(
I'm double crushed :'(12 -
Got an interview call from a company which I didn't join at the last minute. This last minute change happened 3 years back.
Now I'm thinking I'll give them another shot even though I'm happy with my current company.
I didn't join them earlier because the new company had a lot of scope for learning and growth.
Now, let's see what they have in store -
!rant
Finally managed to implement a proper E2E testing solution for our app with Protractor and Jasmine. Some basic tests (login and dashboard) are already working.
I'm just so happy to automate everything, going to cut down our manual testing time from 2h to about 20 to 30min if I'm estimating this correctly.
That's all. Just wanted to say I'm very happy with the results 😊5 -
I seem to have a really bad case of evening depression. If that's even a thing
I'm super happy and full of energy but as soon as it's dark outside I become a depressed sack of shit with no drive to work on anything 😔6 -
Used XSLT for the first time at work. It seems like it can be a pretty powerful tool in the right situation, but I'm not too happy that I have to use it in the first place.2
-
People must be happy when they have no job from last year and suddenly get a very good offer..... I also got an offer yesterday.... my family is happy.
But I'm not sure if I'm happy. Because, now, less time to open source development, less chance to take the independent decisions, less time for life, less time for family & friends.5 -
Today i'm very happy becose i'v just see the devrant.com web ui is full finished !
And i'v see too the new plan of GitHub.. Soo i'v import 65 private project from BitBucket to GitHub haha2 -
Really wish the likes of JetBrains would hurry up and offer an LSP server for every language. I'm categorically not interested in using PHPstorm because my RSI makes it impractical but I'd be happy to shell out for an LSP I can use with Neovim9
-
Samsung phones. I test my apps in an emulator instead. (I'm a student and I can't afford a new phone. I have what I get. But at least I get something so I should be happy.)
-
Finally on github.
https://github.com/FidelityInternat...
I use this to test the css changes to my ui.
It's still a work in progress, not even documented properly, but I'm just happy that company allowed this code to go open sourced. -
I'm quite happy with my job as a full stack web developer, but I'd like to have a raise.
Is there any reliable source helping me finding out what I'm worth? I have no idea how much more I can ask from my boss.
Living and working in germany btw.9 -
Most emotionaly intense?
Every day! - when i have to merge in changes in production to git and figure out what the idiots changed in mangled minified javascript, i'm really happy i didn't kill anyone yet. -
Hey there! Anyone got some advice on how to find projects to contribute to pro bono? I'm not looking to enhance my profile, but rather just want to add value to not for profit causes. I tried browsing donatecode.com, but I'm not quite happy with what I found.1
-
I wish I could play the guitar like Jimi Hendrix, sing like Meatloaf, write like Terry Pratchett and make ones and zeroes dance to my tune as Linus Torvalds.
But I need is a good woman's love.
So I have what I need so I'm happy.5 -
What do you think about cash? Most people use cards or NFC, and I'm happy with the possibility of paying with both cash and cards, but I have friends who would like to see cash canceled altogether.7
-
I wish I thought about what kind of work makes me happy before I graduated school. Feels like I'm pigeonholed into soulless backend crud, and the amount of force required to escape this trajectory is non trivial.1
-
Back in school! Happy to say i'm taking classes i genuinely like, which are useful and challenge my brain.
Classes include (but aren't limited to)
SQL (and MS SQL Server, no MySQL sadly)
HTML/CSS/JS
Java2 -
For something opposite - I'm very happy about openlitespeed docs. I'm not very well versed in those things but beyond a small issue with my ubuntu having a hiccup with libzip4 required by it it was surprisingly easy to set everything up thanks to their explanations.
-
I'm a jnr who has worked in 2 projects. In the first the project manager was aweful. On the second the project manager was brilliant. Starting my 3rd project and this time there won't be a PM. Should I be happy?1
-
I'm so happy, I now have so much spending money
You see, At my job I finally got arrays.
(Jk, I don't have a job. Gotta love still being a high-school student.) -

copy paste workign example and update params to what i want for new one, seems happy
i fucking hate you typescript
i guess i should've put this shit through kaleidoscope or any other advanced diff, if i owned any or cared
if i need to debug further ill consider it2 -
I know/heard 90% of this list: https://frontendmasters.gitbooks.io/... , I'm happy of not been under a rock like almost all of my co-workers
-

I'm trying to learn to touch type for probably the 5th time and I really want to get a mechanical keyboard to use at work and home.
I'm looking at the cheaper options on Amazon, up to £50. I'm not sure which switch type is best, whether I should be fitting o-rings to keep colleagues happy or whether I'm just over thinking this whole thing.
😵2
