Once we were going to present a web service to governmental firm. All is going well so far and my boss asks me to host the web application the day before the presentation.
I hosted it and all was good with demo production tests, but I had a bad feeling.
While it was running on our server, I also ran it locally with a reverse proxy just in case.

"And now our developer will run the demo for you..."

Nvidia is currently running a competition on their Omniverse platform to win a top of the line RTX card
All you need to do is create a visually impressive raytracing tech demo... which requires a powerful RTX card... to win a powerful RTX card
Thanks guys3 -
You know what I realized we should always say no for demo driven application development.
We should always ask for enough time do a proper development and if its not enough, shouldn’t write a single line.
Because once we deliver a working demo. Its release ready for them because its FUCKING WORKING..
And trying to explain why this is just a demo and cant be put to production is even bigger pain in the ass than saying no in the beginning.
LESSON LEARNED .4 -
"No matter how slick the demo is in rehearsal, when you do it in front of a live audience, the probability of a flawless presentation is inversely proportional to the number of people watching, raised to the power of the amount of money involved." - Mark Gibbs2

A few years ago, I used alert('Well that sux balls'); to debug a CMS custom module. Finished the project and went with the sales manager to demo the app to the clients board of directors. Trust a sales manager to find a bug during a live demo that QA didn't find...
All my temporary error messages are now boring and functional. -
Always the same story:
Marketing: hey I'm gonna do a demo to a customer. They were asking for feature XYZ. That's ready on thr staging server right? Do you think I could use the staging server for the demo?
Devs: well feature XYZ is not 100% done. Basically just feature X is done, and it still has a few bugs. The deadline ain't for another month, since we gotta finish ABC first. I guess you could use the staging, but it has a lot of bugs.
Marketing: perfect!
*after presentation*
Marketing: the staging had so many bugs! Why didn't you tell me?! It was so embarrassing showing it to new customers! Anyway, they loved the new feature. We need it to be ready ASAP.
Devs: What?! That's gonna mess up with our schedule. You know what? Fine, but feature ABC will have to wait another month.
Marketing: Well, it'd be ideal if we could do both...
Devs: Pay for more devs or dor extra hours.
Marketing: Just do XYZ. It's a pity that you'll have to push back ABC but it's fine, XYZ is more important.
(I might ask, if it was so important, why didn't you notice so in the meeting where we had decided that ABC would be prioritized?)
*tons of working hours later*
Devs: There, we finished XYZ.
Marketing: Yay! Wow, this month we'll have two major features done: ABC and XYZ!
Devs: No, ABC is not done yet.
Marketing: What? But the deadline was this week.
Devs: It was, but then you decided to prioritize XYZ and we said we had to push back ABC to get XYZ ready, and you agreed.
Marketing: Did we? Fine. But do it quick.
Marketing and their mood swings.5 -
As usual finished the task just an hour before demo meeting. That hour is for transportation. Obviously I didn't test nor rehearse.
As usual, in to 2 mins of demo and greeted by error page.
As usual
1) stay the fuck calm
2) this features was already demo-ed and fixed and went fine few weeks ago
3) what the fuck happen now
4) stay the fuck calm, smile.
5) "ah please give me one minute, I forgot to clean up some stuff while working on new features"
6) shit shit. read the error message and log
7) oh I did refactor some files last week. Reorganized the files and folders for better structure and easier understanding. Thought I corrected every occurrences. Obviously I missed few.
8) ssh to the server while screen is still showing on projector
9) dig into the file quick
10) stay the fuck calm
11) fix
12) refresh
13) sorry all good, so I was saying ....
Well finally it's done for today and going back to office. After all it went ok. 👌2 -
Boss: Can you modify the prototype, so that I can show it off to the customers who will visit?
Me: Sure, when do you need it?
Boss: In two hours.

So this client wanted a demo on Dockers. So I gave the demo with some microservices running on different containers. Later the clients come back and say, "Docker is good. But please fit all the microservices in one container." I say but that defeats the purpose of microservices. But no, the client say. I tried explaining but no is no. Shit!! Fine! Have it your way!!5

Things you hear from developers 5 minutes before demo to the whole Management Board.
- "... Does this button work... Nope... Oh well..."
- "What the hell is THAT!?"
- "Um... Is it supposed to look like this?"
- "Please tell me you didn't just merge this!?!" -
When I was still a noob programmer, I was working on a website for a big client. We had a demo coming up in big city. So we drove there several hours and went to their office. All the management board and shareholders and what not were there.
So we started the demo. Everything had worked perfect the night before. But on that day, we were right away greeted with some stupid PHP error right there on the first page. Had to fix it quickly so we could continue with the demo, so I logged into their production server with SSH and started fixing the code with vim. I was connected to the projector, so my horrid noob code with cringy joke comments was there for everyone in the room to see.
Eventually got it working, but I saw several people in the room facepalming hard. Can't ever forget the day. :D1 -

I’m back for a fucking rant.
My previous post I was happy, I’ve had an interview today and I felt the interviewer acted with integrity and made the role seem worthwhile. Fuck it, here’s the link:
https://www.devrant.io/rants/889363
So, since then; the recruiter got in touch: “smashed it son, sending the tech demo your way, if you can get it done this evening that would be amazing”
Obviously I said based on the exact brief I think that’s possible, I’ll take a look and let them know if it isn’t.
Having done loads of these, I know I can usually knock them out and impress in an evening with no trouble.
Here’s where shit gets fucked up; i opened the brief.
I was met with a brief for an MVP using best practice patterns and flexing every muscle with the tech available...
Then I see the requirements, these fucking dicks are after 10 functional requirements averaging an hour a piece.
+TDD so * 1.25,
+DI and dependency inversion principle * 1.1
+CI setup (1h on this platform)
+One ill requirement to use a stored proc in SQL server to return a view (1h)
+UX/UI design consideration using an old tech (1-2h)
+unobtrusive jquery form post validation (2h)
+AES-256 encryption in the db... add 2h for proper testing.
These cunts want me to knock 15-20h of Work into their interview tech demo.
I’ve done a lot of these recently, all of them topped out at 3h max.
The job is middling: average package, old tech, not the most exciting or decent work.
The interviewer alluded to his lead being a bit of a dick; one of those “the code comes first” devs.
Here’s where shit gets realer:
They’ve included mock ups in the tech demo brief’s zip... I looked at them to confirm I wasn’t over estimating the job... I wasn’t.
Then I looked at the other files in the fucking zip.
I found 3 of the images they wanted to use were copyright withheld... there’s no way these guys have the right to distribute these.
Then I look in the font folder, it’s a single ttf, downloaded from fucking DA Font... it was published less than 2mo ago, the license file had been removed: free for Personal, anything else; contact me.
There’s no way these guys have any rights to this font, and I’ve never seen a font redistributed legally without it’s accompanying licence files.
This fucking company is constantly talking about its ethical behaviours.
Given that I know what I’m doing; I know it would have taken less time to find free-for-commercial images and use a google font... this sloppy bullshit is beyond me.
Anyway, I said I’d get back to the recruiter, he wasn’t to know and he’s a good guy. I let him know I’d complete the tech demo over the weekend, he’s looked after me and I don’t want him having trouble with his client...
I’ll substitute the copyright fuckery with images I have a license for because there’s no way I’m pushing copyright stolen material to a public github repo.
I’ll also be substituting the topic and leaving a few js bombs in there to ensure they don’t just steal my shit.
Here’s my hypotheses, anyone with any more would be greatly welcomed...
1: the lead dev is just a stuck up arsehole, with no real care for his work and a relaxed view on stealing other people’s.
2: they are looking for 15-20h free work on an MVP they can modify and take to market
3: they are looking for people to turn down this job so they can support someone’s fucking visa.
In any case, it’s a shit show and I’ll just be seeing this as box checking and interview practice...
Arguments for 1: the head told me about his lead’s problems within 20mn of the interview.
2: he said his biggest problem was getting products out quickly enough.
3: the recruiter told me they’d been “picky”, and they’re making themselves people who can’t be worked for.
I’m going to knock out the demo, keep it private and protect my work well. It’s going to smash their tits off because I’m a fucking great developer... I’ll make sure I get the offer to keep the recruiter looked after.
Then fuck those guys, I’m fucking livid.
After a wonderful interview experience and a nice introduction to the company I’ve been completely put off...
So here’s the update: if you’re interviewing for a shitty middle level dev position, amongst difficult people, on an out of date stack... you need people to want you, don’t fuck them off.
If they want my time to rush out MVPs, they can pay my day rate.
Fuuuuuuuuck... I typed this out whilst listening to the podcast, I’m glad I’m not the only one dealing with shit.
Oh also; I had a lovely discriminatory as fuck application, personality test and disability request email sent to me from a company that seems like it’s still in the 90s. Fuck those guys too, I reported them to the relevant authorities and hope they’re made to look at how morally reprehensible their recruitment process is. The law is you don’t ask if the job can be done by anyone.6 -

The time when we were not aware with advance features of IDE and version control.
(3-4 days before the project demo)
Me: This code was working fine last time. Now it is not compiling. Has anyone did some changes?
Team member: I corrected some spellings. So that our teachers don't correct us at the time of demo.
Me: (shocked, expression less ) We demo the application not the code. And you have not corrected on all the places.
Team member: You should do the rest.

Giant, month-and-a-half-long-ticket.
After learning six or so complicated areas of the system and updating them all to work with the new changes, make them all play nicely, etc. I finally got everything working. 95% spec coverage, though no ui tests because I haven't gotten selenium working. whatever, everything's done and works.
Second dev bases her ticket off of mine and continues working. Work elsewhere continues and there's an official release, so we both merge in master. I run tests, everything passes, and go back to working on other tickets.
She finishes her ticket.
We do end-to-end testing, and everything works perfectly. Time for a demo!
She merges in master again, and pushes her branch to two staging servers. (idk why two.)
Demo starts.
We connect to the staging servers, and... none of the UI changes exist; they aren't running the correct code!
So she runs it locally for a demo instead. Two features in my ticket no longer work. She throws me under the bus. She throws me under the bus again by criticising a rake task I scrapped because she wanted to do it. Then again because I didn't update my branch to master and push it before the demo, despite having no reason to. and despite the demo being of her branch.
Then she continues to show off and brag about how she's like the "legend" (senior dev) she envies. QAbuys it.
I'm having an emotion, and it's called anger.rant unfounded superiority complex people suck anger what the hell did you do to my project? i miss working alone8 -
Game dev has never been more amazing. I am playing with different ideas for terrain. I want to modify terrain and build structures as part of game play. I thought about using a structure of my own to represent buildings and other structures. I got to thinking that maybe what I really want is voxels. So I decided to play with the Godot voxel plugin. I am looking at the "examples". Then I see this:
https://github.com/Zylann/...
"This is a 3D space game demo, with procedurally-generated planets." Wait what? I run the demo and I can fly to different planets and deform the terrain on each planet. This is a demo? Isn't this a main feature of NMS as a demo? Shocked but really excited. I can't wait to play with this.

A colleague had to show up for a demo in 10 minutes, and urgently needed to fix some CSS.
I told her the right way would take more than 10 minutes. The quick and dirty way was to add an `!important`.
I made her write a comment:
`// TODO: Fix this hack made for the demo dated blah blah`4 -
made a prototype and showed the demo to clients. They asked me where it was stored and how to access to the code. Told them where it was stored was was a trial and it has expired. Asked me why I didn't pay the subscription. Also asked me if I could send them the code, for them to "try using it" and "implement it in their office". Told them if they wanted to use the program, it needs to be done again (since this is a prototype). 3 days now, no sounds from the client.9

Stupid me.
We were on a time crunch for giving a demo. A friend wrote a piece of code and he said it was working exactly the way it should be and that we can directly transfer to my machine and run it. He ran the piece (on his machine to show me) and it worked.
I take the source from him transfer it on my machine (because mine was going to be used for the demo).
Demo begins, everything goes smoothly ...all up until the point of the last module demo. Alas, the transfered module didn't work. Tried debugging during the demo as everyone was cooperative and patient. Turns out I hadn't done an initial setup required for that module. Embarrassed! 😓
Should have tested before the demo. 😞
FML. But from that moment forward i make sure to test every code I get from others as well as the one I write.
For anyone planning to ask me, I don't remember what the piece of code even did. It was a small time side project with a company. Not revealing the company's name.2 -
So I took up a website development project, and the customer sent me a clear requirements document (yay!). I make the website, show the demo and boom, suddenly the client wants COMPLETELY different things. Fml.1

I was giving a demo for a university project. It was a simulation of a bunch of healthcare robots in a 3D world.
When the demo started, two of the robots attempted to path through the front door at the same time and promptly got stuck on each other. We were allowed to manually unstick them, so we did so.
Once they were going again, they decided to not to turn down the hallway like they were supposed to. Instead, they drove through one of the walls of the house and continued until they disappeared of the screen.
We never saw them again.1 -

Shows client site in progress on demo server. I tell them not all of the responsive styles on a chunk of the pages are done yet.
Client: Everything looks wrong. If it's not working it should say 'coming soon'
Me: This is a demo server, it will be finished before the production server for sure
Client: Put coming soon up please1 -
After working two 85 hour weeks and staying until 6 in the morning before customer demo, the project manager decides to invite the team for dinner and drinks after work, as if my family doesn't miss having me home for dinner, and I haven't spent enough time with my colleagues!!4

Completed the coding for my story .One week later just a day before the demo,I am being told that the requirement has changed.Need to do from scratch and I have demo for it the next day ... 😶6

My boss ask me to demo some project. I named the demo "fuck", and I knew I could change it. In the evening he came to ma desk and asked for anything in progress. Go to test form and slash witch fuck... noooooo. that was ma last time taking things simple.2

Joke with colleagues:
PM: I promised client we will give full demo tomorrow afternoon. Please prepare well.
Me: Definitely yes, I will prepare well my resign letter. -
I hate that clients think the most important thing for a demo is UI. Working Application > Nice looking application with no functionality1
-
Note to self, don't fix a minor bug that will not effect the demo right before the live demo. My program that was working great didn't work anymore during the demo because of my quick bug fix I figured I had a few minutes to add to my code.1

The Windows update task scheduler: "I'll make 19 very very important, 20 very important, 12 important, 0 really important and 400 optional updates. And when you are currently at a meeting in the next room, I'll gonna restart in 15 minutes and make 451 updates, when you want to show the demo. "

Client : you are hired as a developer.
Me : we need more developers as there's more work and less time.
Client : Ok, here's another dev
(Meanwhile me doing my work...)
ON THE DAY OF DEMO :
Me : Here's the demo.
Client: it's incomplete, where's more work?
Me: that's the part of 2nd dev you hired before
Client : I don't care, I fucking need a work!
Me inside: (Why the fuck would the first dev becomes a task/team manager just because is the first one to join the project! Arrrgh!!! Hire a fucking scrum master to manage your fucking tasks/team, am just a fucking dev! )6 -
Client wants this "demo" LIVE by the end of the month... But still not got access to THEIR API yet!!! 😑1

Made this amazing discovery in my project. Made sure to commit the code in Git to show a demo to the manager.
Could not find the code at all when it was time for the demo. Checked all the commits to find out, nope, no luck.
Later realized I committed that code to special branch :/ And I totally forgot about that :(5 -
So, I was buying a new WiFi connection, had some doubts about the speed, visited the Regional Office Incharge for a demo... Asked him the speed... Dude didn't know the difference between MBps and Mbps... Pretty much gave up on the service provider.
How the fuck people hire such dumb fucks.2 -
So I've been working on collaborative localization, which means robots in a team help each other improve their pose estimation!
We submitted a paper to a robotics conference (fingers crossed), and you can find a video from the demo here:

Debugging your JavaScript Code for 2 hours and trying out every imaginable solution because it works on the demo page but not your site... and then you find out the fking library had a bug and the Readme.md contained a cdn link to an old version and the demo page was up to date... arrgghh2

The project is nowhere near complete, the customers are waiting for demo/proof of concept. the code is spaghetti and I'm burned out.

Company lands huge enterprise project
manager: we have a year to get this done.
poor devs : excited and thinks about so much learning with this project it would be.
manager: Lets get work started with (spits planless jargons)...meanwhile another team is working on SRS.
poor devs: So we are doing R&D right..(excited)
manager: No we have a demo scheduled after 15days.
poor devs: What??
manager: Get on it..we need something to show on demo.
poor devs: no words spoken
...after one year of unplanned demos...
manager: we have to stablize project..UAT is nearing.
one of brave poor devs: No no..lets focus on demo...why do you need a stable product.
manager: instant rage1 -

We were finishing another sprint of our grocery shop site at school and it was time for a demo.
There we are, showing our work before the other students. Our teams have a healthy habit of always checking each other not to leave some stoopid mistakes in the final versions, so everybody always regExes and validates THE SHIT out of every input field, both in the view and on the server side. But this one team found out that sometimes it's not enough.
Like every team, they're asked to buy a negative value from their shop. The guy clicks through the process, buys exactly -1 of a banana. He clicks the button to purchase and the site returned "Added banana to the cart!" and we're like "haha n00bz". But someone asked them to show the cart and everyone stopped immediately.
There were 9999 bananas in the cart.
Turns out the member responsible for purchase validation made it add 10000 if the quantity of a bought product was negative.
To this day I can't understand why he did that. xD4 -
Wanted to give a demo of a web project in college but didn't want to carry the laptop and set it up again since I use my desktop primarily.

Working for blockchain companies is kind of funny. They get endless money from investors, while shoveling manure.
Like developing random useless prototype applications. Registering patents left and right. Spending money on pentesting demo apps. Organising random obligatory company wide lectures, for multiple days.2 -
I get to make icons for our products displays. I made some demo ones using Inkscape. Export to PNG. They look really sharp. Making them have a similar color set as our company logo. Boss likes them so making more.3

It’s satisfying to see big companies scramble to avoid being disrupted in a market they have dominated for so long…and doing it so wrong. I care about accuracy in AI, but the kind of “safety” they’re concerned about—the AI not hurting peoples’ feeeewwwwings—is definitely holding them back.

Probably not the worst, but recently i was doing a demo for a feature to the director of our department.... and there was data corruption in the datastore and the feature would only show a 500 page as a result :/. We have a external demo this thursday. We still need to merge a lot of branches and somehow get a online environment working.
It's 30C and my motivation is dropping by the hour.

My day couldn't start in a worse day.
We are having a demo this week and I worked yesterday after hours to get the product ready. Tested everything and we were all set for the demo content.
Today we installed the new version with my fixes and nothing worked. Today's version should be the golden version to prep the demo! Obviously everyone starts looking at me as to why nothing works both worried and eager to help. But I got so stressed I just wanted to dig a hole.
Luckily after going through the logs a colleague of mine pieced together something he heard about another colleague on another location we have submitted a fix (without telling our location) that f**ked up the whole system.
Luckily we reverted it since the system was better without it and got it stable again but after all of that I had to go rest because until we found the answer I was starting to think I couldn't get one thing right. I think it was the most stressful moment in 5+ years on this job4 -
how do you react when your manager schedules a product demo with the CEO and you're on leave and other developers beg you to present?

Project Manager: Ok, let's aim for a demo anyway.

Demo of a feature had to be canceled just minutes before the meeting. Entire environment is hosed and don’t know why. Also, the feature to be demonstrated turned out to not be working before the environment stopped working, so we now have more time to shift to another solution. Win?

Something very interesting today
I worked on an API feature and it was approved and merge to the stable copy of the project. But then comes the demo.
Now we used Heroku(this devil)
The database uses sqlite. I can register an account on the web application. But the user table has only the admin account even though i have successfully managed to register.
I dont know what sorcery this was!
I simply went with the saying "it is working on my local machine"
Only to realise minutes to the demo the build pack was not done well at the beginning...
What is life... -
I recently went through a very detailed and well-explained Python-based project/lesson by Karpathy which is called micrograd. This is a tiny scalar-valued autograd engine and a neural net on top of it.
The project above is, as expected, built on Python. For learning purposes, I wanted to see how such a network may be implemented in TypeScript and came up with a 🤖 micrograd-ts - https://github.com/trekhleb/... repository (and also with a demo - https://trekhleb.dev/micrograd-ts/ of how the network may be trained).
Trying to build anything on your own very often gives you a much better understanding of a topic. So, this was a good exercise, especially taking into account that the whole code is just ~200 lines of TS code with no external dependencies.
The micrograd-ts repository might be useful for those who want to get a basic understanding of how neural networks work, using a TypeScript environment for experimentation.
With that being said, let me give you some more information about the project.
## Project structure
- [micrograd/](https://github.com/trekhleb/...) — this folder is the core/purpose of the repo
- [engine.ts](https://github.com/trekhleb/...) — the scalar `Value` class that supports basic math operations like `add`, `sub`, `div`, `mul`, `pow`, `exp`, `tanh` and has a `backward()` method that calculates a derivative of the expression, which is required for back-propagation flow.
- [nn.ts](https://github.com/trekhleb/...) — the `Neuron`, `Layer`, and `MLP` (multi-layer perceptron) classes that implement a neural network on top of the differentiable scalar `Values`.
- [demo/](https://github.com/trekhleb/...) - demo React application to experiment with the micrograd code
- [src/demos/](https://github.com/trekhleb/...) - several playgrounds where you can experiment with the `Neuron`, `Layer`, and `MLP` classes.

Current I’ve been assigned 5 pages web design, but my coworker only been assigned two simple html and css task. We got same two weeks to finish it. She joined three months before me. After the task done, my manager ask her to do demo to team, she never mentioned me, and today’s stand up, big team manager said thanks for her demo and work, she didn’t mentioned me too… And now everyone contact her instead of me, and then she told me what others said later.
I feel she’ve been take credit from me..
should I talk with the manager about this? Or I should just quit the job?3 -

!rant got to give an end of sprint demo for the ui my team had been working on for three weeks today, bosses said they were impressed with how much we got accomplished (we're all new college hires and this is only out second sprint) and didn't care that out demo was ran from a local machine rather than a proper web server

I am I the only one who doesn't like sprint demos? I don't care what someone else worked on. Yeah they wrote some code that does stuff, great. I don't have time to understand it and when I have to fix it I learn it.

Demo driven development.
Fucking nightmare.
Did a simple search for TODO Statements in the code and almost fucking spilt my coffee.
And the best part, they will demo most of this in Sprint review as done.. WTF.
Done means "Ready to Release" not "Ready to Demo".2 -
The moment, when you just about start a demo on your project and the code is not working at all, is pretty awkward. What makes it worse is that even the master branch is useless. The good thing is that noone noticed it, since the demod feature worked well.1

Heya folks, I recently published my first package on github and npm, titled, allcollapsible.
https://github.com/adityasrivast/...
It's mainly for front-end development though.
It gives various collapsible menu options to the developers for better implication. Most of you are senior to me and each of your suggestions are precious to me. Please take a look at it. It will surely be a great help. Do star if you find it worth!!
Also you can use it in your development if you find it worth it.
For demo, https://adityasrivast.github.io/All...
Thanks in advance 😄1 -

The worst part about trying to come up with an antialiasing technique is running the demo application and thinking "hey that doesn't look too bad" and then reaslizing that the image doesn't have any antialiasing on it whatsoever
I know my technique looks bad right now, thanks for rubbing it in -

We need x amount of features, feature requests changing all week long and then we will demo.
3 days later, all work the for demo can be thrown away because it isn't in the sprint planning and probably the features aren't needed any more in the future. FML _-_ -
My most recent workaround occurred last week.
We have a demo very soon and I had to change our iOS app to use a new Web API endpoint for uploading content.
Long story short: The existing code is so awful and rigid and dependant on Core Data that I ended up having to completely bypass the service layer of the app and implement the new endpoint as a raw HTTP request. Its gonna take a long time to refactor the existing service layer. All because the new endpoint has a different content type. -
One time a pm told me to shut up during a sprint demo. I don't work there anymore. Forced me to find a place where I was a better fit.4

All the apps were running as expected, the other team had demo and ask us not deploy anything in server....so we copy the war of our spring boot app to the server (23MB). Client demo today..
Did lots of configuration stuff in this sprint and when talking through it I confuse even myself.. so many things that were done for one specific goal..
They will be confused during the whole demo, only in the last 2 min it will start to make any sense - when all the pieces come together.
It’ll be fun..4 -

Missing the sprint goal because management booked an *entire day* of meetings about stuff going on *next* sprint, on the day before the demo when we're usually racing to complete. Going to look great when I demo incomplete functionality to the client tomorrow. Great consideration for the team there. Fucks sake.1

The 2 of us work hard to make sure all parts work flawlessy. Demo goes great and owner is very happy because company looked great in front of client.
Owner calls dev supervisor, again who was on vacation for entire demo, and congratulates him for a job well done.

I hate so much all those sprint related meetings. They literally take one day totalled (every 2 weeks).
Review, dry run demo, actual demo, planning, daily hourly meetings.... so much talking.8 -
Here is my GitHub repository where I demonstrated
1. Role Based Authentication with fake jwt and mocked backend.
2. Lazy loading and eager loading modules.
3. Data Resolvers.
4. A pretty good project structure.
Each different topic is implemented in a different branch. I just wanted to share it here.
I have also provided links to the online resources where I learned or practiced these things in Angular ( Check Readme file for more info) :)
Feel free to check.

How to realize that experience matters : make a demo where all your code works, but everything fails because the other dev has done a shitty job 😅1
-
It was great when non tech guys explained me the requirements. Now a bunch of technical managers do with no clarity to themselves and obviously we revamp it every time we give them a demo.
-
That one bug that is always elusive, only happens once during development, you can't seem to reproduce it and think its fixed, and only reoccurs on production or during a demo 🤔 damn it
-
Hey guys. Days ago I was working in some "Unity2d animation test". You can download the demo apk and see the code here: https://github.com/Marks7e/Test
Give me your feedback please ♥️2 -
oh, and #4
Not something I'd be very proud of, but I see people liked it. Back in the day I think it was cool indeed.
You know Conky, right? Soo... I made it clickable :)

pardon the lag.. I was using an atom netbook to record that demo :)
P.S. the repo is no longer maintained. -

i'm so desperate to get a demo effect working i've asked a math teacher a question which feels trivial but i can't crack
how the FUCK do you stretch sine waves???10 -
Watching my first demo of Outsystems low code bullshit. What self respecting dev would WANT this as their environment?? How the complete fuck is this a thing??? Buncha lazy shits...4

currently setting up a repo for a git release branching demo because despite the fact we have a model in place, it was completely ignored when it came to release time with changes being pushed straight to the main develop branch *sighs*

I need to build a mock-up site to demo a concept what's the fastest way to get set up?
Need a db, login and sorta like devrant collab or actually Kickstarter... Or actually pretty much like them except not for funding products8 -
Small experimental demo using JS, CSS and a bit of PHP.
http://abitus.net/tests/...
The code, all mixed in a unique ~600 lines 'index.php' file, is ugly af. But I was mostly interested by the concept here, so it's really intended to be a dumb prototype.
However I think this works. The idea was to use a conceptual design solution in order to show links temporality when it is based on their popularity. More a link gets clicked, more bigger and slower it will be.
There's still a lot to improve. It could work with images or even more complex contents like articles. Just a matter of improving the UI.
Please feel free to play with it and give your opinion. What do you guys think of the concept ?1 -
Don't suppose any mac user's out there feel like helping me test my application's demo?
Can only compile for mac bu can't test unfortunately :-/2 -
Been building something for the past 3 months and the guy we are selling to doesn't even care about the demo. Likes the pretty output

Just been told please don't break anything we using staging for a demo. I guess nothing is getting merged then? Great bonehead decision management!2

Damn, Square Enix hasn't even released Bravely Default 2 yet, but they are already publishing the demo for their next awesome game.3

If you wanted to have a virtual conference and the ability to demo code to an open source community. Would you use livecoding.tv or something like join.me?1

I compiled/built the TinyML book demo using the Sparkfun Edge microcontroller, which lets you load trained deep learning models onto an extremely low-powered device for edge computing. The board runs inferences, albeit slightly inaccurately. It's a great demo that runs out of the box, but there's room for improvement...which is totally part of the fun!

Used cocoapods to install VideoCore on demo. Everything's working. Nice!
Transferred to actual project - pod file has 'use_frameworks!' in it, fucked up the headers, project broke. Spent whole Saturday trying to solve it cos i suck!
..I thought I would be done in an hour.. -
I have to learn to work with this new cms. And me and a coworker have been struggling with custom faq templates. We told the lead dev multiple times we need help to get this to work.
Still no help.
Im gonna put this on him in the demo. -
Infineon infineon infineon...
Your aurix tricore is amazing for all safet systems... On paper.
Your support is abysmal. Tried forums, support line to verify a demo that only seems to work sometimes.
I just wanted to get ethernet communication using the demo. But hey one week gone and no success....
And the code seems to behave differently for each run :| the debugger works only on global variables and no printf statements. But hey just make a lot of globals right? So little footprint available so not possible :-\
Hoped that some forum could confirm the demo so I knew I was just making a fuck up, but cannot get that verified...
Embedded programming not for me... :/ -
Pro tip:
Don't make stateful singletons. Just spent an entire fucking morning debugging because one of those fuckers was trying to use prod, and not the demo environment.10 -
So, apparently my client was about to demo the web app that I've just built to many potential users. The audience/users however is an top notch CEO's, and management from various companies.
Oh god, I hate working with them. They just so lousy and perhaps ocd or smtg idk. They literally changed the concept in the middle of development, and event CHANGE THE NAME of the company days before the demo. God, I hate it.
Should I update the repo with dickbutt pics and deployed it asap? I've prepared the branch btw. Its just a matter of click now lol -
RubyGems had to have SSL configuration errors for right when I'm working on a demo rails project for a firm 🙃🙃🙃 Got it working, but still

When you are asked to show a minimal working demo of what you have been working on past 2 days but you realise you are in the middle of refactoring those 7 files. Now you don't want to undo nor have time to finish remaining work.

Complete a graphical Demo of a gun shooting. Maybe implement different types of guns & the bullets associated with those guns. =)1

Had to do a presentation today about os hardening on embedded devices and wanted to do a quick demo.
Forgot to make a sacrifice to the demo-gods and had to pay for it, nothing worked and i was struggeling with networking issues throughout my presentation :/
Worked perfectly 10 minutes ago as i was preparing and perfectly fine afterwards as the presentation was over...
Feeling really down and frustrated right now
What are your experiences with the demo gods?
