was at a hackathon, had to write an app that sent current location to emergency contact. hard coded the location of where the hackathon was taking place and one of the members phone numbers. we came second14

Meanwhile at NSA:
Alice: Uhm... Bob? I lost my SSH key...
Bob: *facepalms*
Alice: ... but i still have the public key! Could you please recalculate the private one for me?
Bob: Sure, give me a second. I'll fax it to you when it's ready.
Me: *wakes up from nightmare*13 -
Brain, stop. Please just stop coming up with new ideas for one fucking second.
I wish I could implement them all but I have never finished a side project ever.
Please. Just. Fucking. Give. Me. A. Fucking. Rest. Right. Now. And. Stop, Coming. Up. With. New. Project. Ideas.
😫😡25 -
Fun fact: Michael Widenius named "MySQL" after his daughter My. When MySQL was acquired by sun, he decided to start a new open source database, "MariaDB", named after his second daughter Maria.
This guy is (partially) responsible for two of the largest databasesystems in the world.
Imagine his daughters apply for a database engineering job one day. During application process: "One of the largest databases in the world was named after me..." 😂19 -
I have this one major pet peeve - getting interrupted on any messenger by "hey".
Q: Hey
A: Hey, what's up?
-minutes pass, I try to resume work-
Q: Do you have a second?
A: Sure, what's up?
-minutes pass, I try to resume work... Again-
Q: Do you know anything about #feature#?
A: Yeah, I wrote most of it, what do you need?
-minutes pass, I try to resume work... AGAIN-
(goes on same pattern, takes half an hour for a 10 second question/answer)
Like... Come on!!! Don't do this to me
I get it, I like to be cordial and friendly - but there is absolutely nothing stopping you from getting your message across without making me have to go back and forth (interrupting my work).9 -
A group of computer science geeks were listening to a lecture about Java programming at a university.
After the lecture, one of the men leaned over and grabbed a woman's breast.
Woman: Hey! That's private OK ?
The man hesitated for a second looking confused.
Man: But I thought we were in the same class.3 -
Day 1:
I installed an alarm app that doesn't turn off until you solve some math problem.
Next morning:
* alarm turns on
* solve the math problem
* get back to sleep
Conclusion:
most dangerous thing in the morning is the " let me close my eyes for one second"9 -
I waited until yesterday evening to watch the livestream capture from our creators.
Was expecting something like them being bought by MS or Google or whatever due to how good this awesome network is doing/growing.
As so, i was mentally preparing for a goodbye (the second this data gets into the hands of a data hogging company I'm fucking out (as in, the one who owns the databases)) and then I started watching the livestream.
"aaand here it issssss!!"
"DevDucks!"
😮😅😆😂😊
Well that was one hell of a relief!14 -
I find it so amazing to see when my colleagues (or even me) are irritated/annoyed to the fucking point, swearing around and so on but then the phone rings and they are completely calm/sound nice/happy when they pick it up one second later. (we're Linux support engineers)
This job is the best fucking self control training I've ever had!10 -
Umidigi, kindly go fuck yourself.
When --> I <-- buy a phone, I should be the fucking one who decides if I'm allowed to install a motherfucking custom launcher.
Your phone is awesome (second full day with heavy usage == 53 percent battery) but on the launcher thing, go fuck yourself. Also go to hell. No, go fuck yourself IN hell, that's even better.29 -
Gotta love how straightforward the installation guide for Elixir is written for windows
(I'll choose the second one though)2 -
Email from a company I applied To:
"Hi... We will be in touch by the 7th of November"
Me:... It's December already. Maybe I missed it.
Second email: "Sorry! Typo. It's meant to say 7th of November. Refer to this instead"
Me: ...
THIRD email: "So sorry. Or mailing system is failing so disregard all those emails and refer to this one. Thank you."
Me: ... WHERE THE FUCK IS THE DATE!??6 -
Why am I able to write a quick search algorithm in JavaScript but am not able to talk to girls?
Shouldn't the second one be easier than the first one?
Shouldn't every human being be able to do the first one?298 -
I'll be buying a second hand Surface tomorrow.
Will put Linux onto it right away, found good instructions on doing that including making the touchscreen work.
If that doesn't work, I'll sell the fucker again because I'm not running windows. I'm just not. That malware can go fuck itself.
Looking forward to transferring that windows machine to a Linux one!10 -
The office toilet chronicles - episode 3
Someone left shit on the toilet seat. That's right. Shit. On the toilet seat.
This is the second time this happens. I'm working with fucking monkeys here. One of these days they'll start throwing feces at each other. I just hope I'll be long gone when it happens.13 -
Riskiest Dev choice...
Leaving a previous job, moving 1000KM (620 Miles) away with no job prospects and going absolutely broke.
This was all in the name of “I need a better job”, so what better way to force yourself to get one.
I’m currently in my second job since then and now make just over double what I was earning before.
Sometimes it takes a high risk to get out ahead.4 -
Sometimes I love my job, working on client site today.
"Hey we're training a new girl up do you like Warsteiner?"
"Yeah, why?"
Puts pint in front of me
"Thanks"
10 minutes later
"Hey this one was poured by mistake"
Second pint
"Have you tried the San Miguel yet?"
Third pint....4 -
Agreed with a guy on a price for a second hand laptop-tablet. Finally on my way (NS, go drown in an ocean of infected cum) but I'd be very late.
Guy offers to come to the station (saving me more than an hour of travel time)!
This one SHOULD be Linux compatible 😅11 -
Bought a second hand phone because my current one drains too fast (battery).
Flashing through the recovery doesn't work, I need Odin.
Only windows installation I have left (spare laptop I hardly use) crashes every time I boot up.
Linux version of an alternative is downloadable but the site gives a shit ton of errors.
Well fuck me sideways right now.19 -
Worst advice?
That must have been that time my boss asked me how to restart rsyslog (Windowsguy and I was on vacation)
- "just do rm -r /var/log haha"
And ONE SECOND LATER I SENT THIS
- "haha jk dont"
Waiting a minute and I get this:
- "well that did not work"
Damnit8 -
Had an interview in a MNC company.
He: Propose a solution for reading huge logs file like 1 GB and parse errors with today's date.
Me: Gave two solution, one with regex and second with buffering the logs (reason: reading the entire in same shot will cause cpu spike with huge memory consumption) and I fell in love with my second approach. By the way it was on paper.
He: (Without seeing the logic) Your syntax is wrong.
Me: Got frustrated who the hell checks syntax in interview. I asked how may years of experience you have?
He: 10 years.
Me: I don't wanna continue, and I left.5 -
I wanted to print the second and third page of some document, so in the relevant field of the printer dialog I enter "1, 2" and I walk off to the printer.
My first thought when I saw the printer had printed the wrong pages was
"F*ing buggy software"
Second thought:
"Oh... right"
Third thought:
"Right, in the real world, one-based indices are the rule rather than the exception. "
Fourth thought:
"Dumb real world"3 -
Several months back when I started this job, one of the HR guys I met was super energetic and outgoing (I'm a quite introvert).
HR Guy: Hey it's so great to meet you! Everyone here is super excited to have you starting in this role!!!
Me: .......uh "everyone"? There's like 500 people here and only about 3 even know I exist.
HR Guy: *thinks for a second* Haha yeah I guess you are right!!!4 -
On my way to buy a second hand Oneplus One!
I don't think that not being able to remove Google services from my phone because this phone isn't supported by open source roms is a valid excuse anymore, especially since the new dutch surveillance law goes into plan the 1st of May.
I don't have that much money but I can afford this second hand device right now so let's do this.
Will install an open source rom without Google apps onto it!26 -
Make two of everything. So when one project tanks you can pick up the pieces and improve the second project.5
-
Fucking hell, that's now the fourth time in a row that I see my clients getting ripped a second asshole by previous developers, this one charged 1500$ for a "python script" that only calls ffmpeg with couple args, claiming tons of shit like the video being e.g. better quality after conversion - even though all it does, is a straight convert from one format to another. (no filters, anything, just a convert) I feel always so terribly bad discovering that shit and them proudly telling me about the "solution" they invested in..4
-
So I passed my exams just now! This is one of the first official recognition of being a capable programmer for me which is a very big deal in my case.
One final thing before i could get my diploma was getting my hours signed of my second internship but they're ignoring me. Explained it to my mentor: "oh fuck that guy, I'll sign it tomorrow, you've made the hours and I'm not going to let some cunt get in your way of getting a diploma!
I fucking love my mentor.5 -
Just double buffered the Windows console. What you are seeing here is two buffers: one which is empty, and one which has the text "Hello world!", and a pause of 1 second between buffer swapping.
This enables accelerated rendering in the Windows command line (By rendering to an off-screen buffer then simply swapping the active buffer), making things like advanced terminal applications in the Windows console possible.
And the best part- this is the first compilation of the project. Not a single run-time error. What a fucking satisfying accomplishment, honestly.4 -

An interesting read about why the second (and last) WhatsApp co-founder left Facebook while leaving behind a whopping 850 million because ethics/morals.
"I sold my users' privacy to a larger benefit," Acton told Forbes. "I made a choice and a compromise. And I live with that every day."
Here's the article (do click through to the Forbes one): https://fossbytes.com/whatsapp-co-f...9 -
A new linear time O(N) sorting algorithm [Keep it secret 🔒]
* Compare two adjacent elements one by one starting from the first element
* If there are out of order, delete the second element and continue with step 1
* If in order, go to the next two elements
* Once done, act like the numbers you deleted never existed
Works all the time.
Not yet published. Thinking of a good name for it.25 -
Made a simple college project using Node.Js, MongoDB, React... Wrote everything from scratch, starting from HTML to CSS and Routes even OAuth. No template was used.. Guess what teacher said...
She said I love the second project made using wordpress template because, "It looks amazing and beautiful"
One of the reasons why I hate college...11 -
5 years ago i was working on a 2D game using C and we needed to use the sleep function (I forgot why ) .but however one of my team member did something new , for each second he did an empty for loop from 0 to 1000000 .You never know maybe that's how it's implemented (sarcasm)1
-
So yeah. There is some problem on production. I'm working on it for over a day, and can't make it work. The bad method is 500 lines. The method that calls it is almost 1000 lines and its class is 5k. This is the second one. FML :(16

Used to build custom computers... Used to get calls from pissed off people that their cup holder was poorly designed and broke off... One guy even called about it a second time... After we explained what this was for and replaced the part.... SMH10
-
I'm in my second call from hell today. Passed off first to a teammate to run a meeting. First one started 10 hours ago, this started 5 hours ago. Neither are related. Neither show signs of resolving.
Other teammate is on the same call that started 2 days ago.
Who the hell pissed Murphy off?57 -
In my CS class I turned in some assignments recently. Two of them were extremely similar: one was to test if a number was even or odd, the other to test if the length of a string was even or odd. I completed the first one and then started to work on the second one and decide to just call the isEven method from the previous lab so I can follow DRY (Dont repeat yourself) and not have to write the same code again. I turned it in and she took off points for it. -.-13

*gets awesome idea*
*gets another awesome idea*
*gets a third awesome idea*
*gets a fourth awesome idea and forgets the first one*
*gets a fifth awesome idea and forgets the second one*
etc, etc, etc.
that stuff can get really f*cking annoying.6 -
There are two records in this table.
I can confirm that the second one is currently being pulled.
One of the values I see getting pulled is different than either two of the records.

First commit message at a new job:
"This is to fix an issue where {issue} was happening because of {reason}. {Detailed description of the exact changes and the reasoning of every single one}."
Second commit message at a new job:
"Did some stuff."4 -
JIRA. Fucking JIRA. Everybody just fucking hates it. It tops the list of shit pieces of software by a fair margin, followed by JIRA in second place and JIRA in 3rd. It's fucking unusable without superpowers and endless patience. It does whatever it goddamn pleases and randomly sends your precious input that you so carefully crafted anxiously avoiding to press one wrong key to the happy hunting grounds.
Fuck you, JIRA.

My Nexus 6P died yesterday..
A new battery that I ordered for it months ago, arrived.. today.
4700mAh. If only I could've tested it.
This feels so much like it was just to rub it in a little bit further that that Nexus is gone forever.. just before I could fix the first shitstain, the second one occurred already... Fuck me :')9 -
Pro Tip: if you're building a developer REST API, don't forget to add a sample response to each endpoint. I don't want to have to test each one when I'm building my integration, I'd rather build my model in one go with the documentation displayed on a second monitor.6
-
Yeah Apple, fuck up your SECOND Xcode release in a SINGLE WEEK and make me download ANOTHER 7 GIGABYTES (I've grown up with a 2.4 KBITS/S modem!) for what's probably a ONE-LINER FIX in your bloated SHIT!4

Seriously?! What the actual fuck?! O.o Dafaq were they thinking?! In our building, we have a lift..two buttons..one up, one down.. duh! How hard it is to actually program them properly?! I wanna go down, I press down..then the lift takes the guy from 4th floor who wants to go up to 5th down to second and I enter..then we go up to 5th then down to zero.. WTF?!
Am I missing something?! Am I going crazy?! Or did someone fuckup the comands badly.. WTF!!!!6 -
I got an interview tomorrow!!! It's the second one for this company and hopefully I'll be out my shitty job soon!5

Ubutu's organization is so slow in the Code-in contest.
I mean, I've been waiting for 17 hours and they still didn't accept or decline my submission for the second task.
I can't claim another task until they accept this... Plus, my goal is to be one of the finalists, so if they don't hurry up then it won't happen.11 -
I tried to build an application in a container, but the build failed with 54 warnings and 86 errors.
My coworker watched the build fail from behind me, and jokingly said "Well... have fun going through all that".
I told him to wait just a second.
I switched out the image for the build step with a slightly altered one.
Build fails with one error.
Coworker just stares at the screen with his mouth open.
I'm starting to appreciate Docker now.3 -
Someone really needs to change the look of 'I' and 'l'
Guess what the first one is a capital i and the second one is a lower case L
This gets really confusing!6 -
OnePlus, first their price grow constantly closer to other companies prices, second when you make a poll to know if you should keep the headphones jack, the community says you should, and then make a phone without one... well you should have expected the backlash6

I am interviewing people for a job position with python knowledge.
My first question is how to reverse string and second one what’s the difference between set and list.
So far no one knows.
Fairly speaking I am asking only basic questions about what is decorator, generator, lambda. Also some basic data structure questions.
Is it to hard ?
I lost my faith in humanity.15 -

Has anyone else noticed a amplification of battery drain..?
Like... You start at 100%. It takes about 30mins to drop to 99%. And to me, it seems that for each % you go down, the next one comes faster. By the time I hit 5%, It's nearly a second counter.13 -

Anyone else having connection problems after the recent Windows 10 update? We've been slammed at work with them. If you do, here's an easy fix:
0. Go to Command Prompt (Run as Administrator)
1. First command:
netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
(One of them will probably fail, that's fine.)
2. Second command:
netsh winsock reset
3. Restart the computer.13 -
"heh, I'm gonna instal this package".
Installs in 10 seconds.
"wow, this status bar looks cool..."
Installs in a split second.
"just one apt install before going to this really important seminar."
It takes almost half an hour to download and another half to install.
Aptitude fucking reads your thoughts...3 -
I asked my boss for a raise. Since we're data scientists, I basically plotted a column chart showing that he was paying me half of the european average. I said I was willing to negotiate but he was very 'discomfortable'.
Time to go find another job. Or second one 😭6 -
I will be pitching my startup idea for the first time in my life to potential investors one on one after qualifying for a second round in a business competition.
I am nervous 😬, desperately need to get the fund, and haven't been a good presenter.
Background: the business is still on prototype stage.
I stutter by default if I am slightly nervous.
From feedback my prototype is great- but my pitching might not be too great.
Damn I just have less than 6 hours to pitch.
Fuck this nervous mess.
Dev wish me good luck😶13 -
I'm bored af so I'm creating a language based on images.
In one day I instantiated my first variable :D
Basically, the first pixel defines the action type (in this case, red = initialize variable), the second one defines the variable color (aka name), and the rest defines the value using grey scale (0-255, every r/g/b is a character).
I know this is soooooooo useless but I just want to do something particular.
*Epic music* this is the birth of JPxl *stop epic music*!9 -

He: I've done a website in HTML. Can you help me make it responsive.
Without a second thought, I agreed.

I kicked him out of my house without a second thought.3 -

Ok I give up. I concede. I can't take one more second of trying to get ANY window manager to run under Arch with an Nvidia GPU.
Back to Debian it is...18 -
Last year my goals were two:
- work less
- earn more
and I only achieved the second one.
Based on that, my new resolutions are:
- sleep more
- do not work more
- earn more or equal
- to gain stability
- more efficient workouts7 -
After using Linux every day for 3 years, today I learned that the first parameter to ln is relative to the second one and not to the current location.15

potential client, wondering why i don't answer any of his messages or calls: "I hope I haven't done anything wrong!?"
yeah dude, continually calling me MULTIPLE times after 5PM on friday (second friday in a row) is one way to "do something wrong"

Just watched the first season of Silicon Valley and I have to admit: it's the best series out there. Is the second season as great as the first one?6

I ordered a second hand mini laptop. (Mini as in 8 inch)
Now I obviously will put some kind of Linux distro onto it but I'm wondering which one I should choose.
Debian based is a must, except for that I don't know yet.
Ideas?21 -
Really loving the instant legacy code being added to our new project by devs who think they are too good to follow our peer review process, yum... today I found out that there are two different implementations of an API endpoint that does the same thing running in prod, in two different places, because the guy who wrote the second one wasn't aware that the first one existed and didn't let a second developer look at it before he pushed it to master.7

Second coolest project that I have worked was optimizing an algorithm that used images to speedup by 2000x by parallel processing. While the cpu took 7.34 seconds to process just one image and source, the parallel embedded code did it just in 0.0034 :) The coolest one is still in progress where I am building an Ai for my mac control ;)

In just one week I have to make two presentations for my class, first one talk about open source and why everyone should use it and in the second one I have to explain how Git works and why it is so helpful for common projects.
It feels like God gave me an essential mission for life2 -
Why I need to clone myself:
- one of us can stay home learning cool stuff and the second one can go to work.
- Will go to work 2-3 three days per week depending on schedule
- we can build projects faster!
- if we get bored we can play video games together.
And punch of other stuff9 -
Majority of the hacking tutorials:
Tutor : Now we are going to set up two virtual machines to practice our hacking.
Me : Yes finally some useful practicals
Tutor : First one is Metasploitable
Me : What? This OS literally has its name derived from exploitable! How would it be useful in real life! But its ok, there is one more OS for practice, i am sure that one will be better.
Tutor : And the second one is "Windows XP"
Me : *MOTHERFUCKER!*
P.S.: I understand its not the case for all tutorial and it is somewhat necessary, but still it gets me a little.2 -

Here is another rather big example of how C++ is WAY slower than assembler (picture)
Sure - std::copy is convenient
but asm is just way faster.
This code should be compatible with EVERY x86_64 CPU.
I even do duffs device without having the loop:
the loop happens in the rep opcode which allows for prefetching (meaning that it doesnt destroy the prefetch queue and can even allow for preprocessing).
BTW: for those who commented on my comment porn last time: I made sure to satisfy your cravings ;-)
To those who can't make sense of my command line:
C++ 1m24s
ASM 19s
To those who tell me to call clang with -o<something>:
1) clang removes the call to copy on o3 or o2
2) the result isnt better in o1 (well... one second but that might be due to so many other things, and even if... one second isn't that much)25 -
If anything taught me that garbage collectors aren't the one true answer for memory management then it's got to be modded minecraft
It takes around 10-20 seconds only to disconnect from a game and go back to the main menu.
You also get memory leaks, which result in several second long freezes when the GC kicks in, that happen every 15 seconds.1 -
They give you 2 containers, one with one amibea the second with 2 amibeas.
Amibeas divide themselves into 2 identical amibeas after 3 minutes.
The container with 2 amibeas get filled up after 3 hours.
How long does it take the one with one amibea to get filled up.
The test was named:"Javascript Test"....
I first thought, should I write this in JS?
Spoiler: the answer is 3h and 3 minutes.
But why? What's the link with JS?3 -

In school, for the last project of the year
Had to show it to the teachers in charge
When I entered in the room they said my name and looked at me with a big smile
The usually took 15min per project, but they looked at mine for ~35min
One teacher was testing and the other one was writing
Everytime the second one was asking about a feature the other one said "perfect"
I was so proud of me 😁1 -

Rant
I'm a CS student at a university in the global top 10. We currently have two courses using Java, where we have to submit our work to a judge program. One of them is running Java 7. the second one Java 6! Come on, what year is it? Just update your fucking software and the assignments, you lazy fucks!
First rant. Am I doing this right?6 -
Just read about the leap second being added at the exact moment of going in to New Year (31/12/16 23:59:60!!!!!). I can't be the only one thinking what the fucking fuck are they thinking and why am i hearing about this for the first time 24 hours before it's happening.3

One thing I will never be able to stop is asking "why" if somebody tells me "X doesn't work", even though every second asshole takes it literal and tells me "I don't know why it doesn't work", instead of just mentally giving it a second and telling "why it doesn't work" by showing a screenshot or a message, because that's more likely what I meant.6

Here's a short story about luck:
A few months ago my wife signed a new job contract requiring relocation. However before starting that new job she got another (and much better) offer (also relocating to the same place) which she took on. Recently that first company fired 700+ people, including the unlucky one that filled her position.
If she had not gotten that second offer, she'd be out of a job after just relocating.1 -
CEO announced a bug bounty programme for devs to do stuff in their free time for additional cash.
Cash is decided by business people based on their idea of how complex the given problem is.
And it's not for bugs one could just find and fix. Only some fixes/features decided by them.
Like second shift.4 -
fuck time zones and time changes, why the fuck we don’t have one time on the planet and one date that is just day.
No month, no years - all the complexity would be gone, day wouldn’t have 24 hours but it would be something more precise, there won’t be a second
time that earth goes around sun is
365,25964 days
31558432896 milliseconds

Here I am, again, with my second Assembly encounter. However, this time I'm able to read and understand it more, such that I'm even able to compute stack layouts. I don't even hate it that much anymore.
I guess I'm walking the path I couldn't defeat

talking about work vs life balance, what do you think about The 4 Burners theory?
Imagine that your life is represented by a stove with four burners on it. Each burner symbolizes one major quadrant of your life.
The first burner represents your family.
The second burner is your friends.
The third burner is your health.
The fourth burner is your work.
The Four Burners Theory says that “in order to be successful you have to cut off one of your burners. And in order to be really successful you have to cut off two.”

2 guys walk into a bar.

P2: I’ll take some H2O, too.

I was going to be productive today, I promise.
All I got was a headache and nausea.

Company has me giving interviews and today brought the second "Sr JavaScript Developer" that's gotten past multiple people that can't even construct a fucking "for" loop.
Get the fuck out of here... And those excuses at the end trying to explain your "industry experience" just annoy me further.
If I have to smile, thank, and shake another one of these fucktards hands, I'm gonna scream!11 -
@dfox in case you havent already discovered it i have found a bug with notifications in the iOS app.
Steps to reproduce:
1. open notifications
2. tap one of them as many times as you can really fast
3. It generates a new view controller for every time you tapped it.
obviously having to tap furiously is a bit obnoxious but i originally noticed it when the app was running slow and i tapped the notification a second time. It created 2 new view controllers instead of one so i had to actually go back twice to get back to the notifications screen.6 -
So my boss run 2 different companies, the one that hired me and the one that I work for like 40% of the time (through the first one).
This second company is now having a client that's asking for educational qualification for both my boss and me (?)
I mean, even if I didn't study, why would you need that? The product is up and running and works, so wtf do you want?11 -
My team's been moved to a new floor. We're now sat by sales and marketing andI'm losing my fucking mind.
There's one lady who starts every call with the most sing-song version of 'Hi, {}'.format(Name) where she draws out 'Hi' so it's about 3 syllables long. If I have to hear it one more time I'm going to rip the phone out of her hand and throw it out the window.
I have headphones, but it's as if she waits for the second I take them off to say her catchphrase.7 -
Am currently at a jamboree where one kid said he was really good at maths. Then another younger kid asked him what 12 + 12. The first kid then said 24 to which the second kid laughed and said "twelvetwelve". Then the small kid promptly ran away yelling "catch me catch me".
They really do say the darnest things, but concatenation was unexpected :v4 -

Weirdest moment ever in a CS class:

I’ve now worked with three Toptal devs. The first one logged time he didn’t actually work and would edit conversation history to conceal commitments he had made. The second one would disappear for days at a time without notice, and the third is incapable of communicating or working together with team members. She has replaced large portions of our codebases without notice or discussion, and now we have to roll all of it back and convince Toptal to refund the time.
Turns out that toptal’s interview process manages to miss things like honesty/trustworthiness and communication. Be careful hiring from there.6 -

Update: https://devrant.com/rants/5220410/...
I resigned from my second job.
First job tenure: 7.5 years
Second job tenure: 10 months
This job taught me a lot and paid me decent, but not enough to cope up with the bullshit and sacrifice, WLB, and happiness.
I landed a job at one of my dream companies I always wanted to be and possibly the best company in my city. Also the role is B2C in nature and one of only profitable start-ups from India. The domain is second favourite of mine (Music > Art/Events > Travel).
Second job was in travel domain, world's largest OTA but the timezone fucked my happiness and that is what my first job offered me.
I could easily score better offers with higher pay and benefits but I was optimising for a work life balance and team in same time zone along with some impacting work.
I do have some interesting interviews coming up and I am not sure how will I end up performing.
When I got this first offer, this job hunting season, I initially rejected some silly policies. I regretted the decision and thankfully after having a transparent conversation with the recruiter, I accepted it. Funnily, the resignation from second job isn't making me feel emotional, guilty, or any negative emotion. Which evidently signals that the job was toxic and I had to step out asap.
The purpose it served in my journey was bring my remuneration to market levels and teach me a lot more skills in just short span.
Excited to see how the future unrolls. I'll keep my fellows here posted.
I really want to spend more time here talking and hanging out with you all. Hopefully I shall be back soon. Until then keep safe my lovelies :)5 -

Well, I only worked with two designers so far. The first one was incredibly competent and a nice guy. The second one however...not so much.
He wanted me to change the background of his website to a specific pattern. It was a pattern that easily could have been used as repeated background.
So I asked for a single pattern in PNG format.
Guy refuses to give it to me and forces me to use a 4k image as background.

Ok I need a second post for this week. A tech lead decided to have a one on one meeting with me in public on the clients' floor where he decided to get angry at me (in public mind you) about using too many design patterns and inheritance because that "makes the code too hard to read. Instead use a lot of if-else's like I do." So not just is he an idiot, he did this in public on a floor with people who didn't know programming so now I look awful. I was furious.2

Is it just me, or are ++' much easier to get by nowadays? Back, in my early dR days, you saw one, maybe 2 posts with more than 50 ++. Numbers over 100 meant that it is definitely worth reading. My golden rule of debugging - Isolate issues by changing one unit of code at a time. Keep everything else constant.
Second most helpful rule - pick up the habit of fixing things by reviewing code, instead of relying on debuggers. Make you so much more aware of possible pitfalls while coding itself.1 -

I had six items that I wanted to centre horizontally via CSS. Problem was that depending on the viewport width, the items could either take one, two, three or six lines. But the items broke to the next line like text so that e.g. the top line had five items and the second only one. What I wanted was three items each in this case.
Finally, I came up with a hack of media queries to make the parent container just so wide that six, three, two or one item would fit horizontally, and then centre the parent container with margin left/right auto.1 -
Tell me what you want but ChatGPT is the best dev companion ever.
I've just submitted 700 lines of JS code with various complex functions because I had an issue for some specific cases I couldn't identify.
In less that a second ChatGPT noticed a missed argument in one of the many function calls... mind blowing.
It's something I would otherwise notice after hours of debugging, looking for a needle in huge functions.9 -

Any code should be simple and easy to read / understand.
I just reworked an old stored SQL proc.
Went from 102 lines to ... 10.
More I code, more I realize that maintainability, readability, comments and unit tests are more important than actual code. (And performances ofc. But if 1 line code does it in 1 second and 500 lines code in 0.2 seconds, I’ll take one line solution every time)5 -
So, idk if I told you guys yet but I'm a web dev intern.
Recently the company I work at doubled in size and so this was the result...
Here's what my weekend looked like:
Friday:
0830: Math exam at school
1005: Get on the public transportation
1100: Arrived at internship
1130: Get started on setting up 8 new PC's
/*realize I have to do them one by one, clean window installation, office, updates, and some random software. Internet connection sucks, so one PC at a time it is.*/
2130: bus ride home.
Saturday:
0900: Get on public transportation to work
1000: Arrive and start finishing up PC's
1600: Start moving old pc's to new room and install new pc's
2130: Get on bus ride home
Sunday:
0830: Get call from second job asking me to do some stuff.
1100: be done with second job
1400: Get on public transport to work
1500: start cleaning up old pc's for reuse
2130: Go home
And today we finished installing everything.
I've spend 17 hours of my weekend at internship. Guess who's taking Wednesday and Friday off? -
first was with people who wanted to host a hackathon. no one even coded a simple hello world application. not even tried to google it with the free internet access available. second time was only one other developer and myself with a bunch of people wanting to claim their fame. pitching alot of ideas but none wanted to do the hard graft.

You type the same address a hundred times, every time hoping it’ll guess the address after the first.... second..... third.... character. No, it shows you a similarly named site that you went on months ago. End up having to type most of the domain name before it catches it.
Then, one day, you hastily mis-spell the address and press enter, now autocorrect keeps fucking directing you to there!!8 -
for one split second I thought I had discovered a way to manage multiple states with one reducer function in react,

One trick on of the idiot seniors use to show that they have worked hard. Uglifying the formatting using the default editor lint in first commit. In the second commit they run the linter which changes most of the lines. This is while raising review for only a range of commits.
They should be removed from senior positions and thrown out of the company.1 -
For a new microservice we were designing, I recently had a design discussion with a team member on creating REST endpoints for a new entity. This discussion went on for almost 3 hours, most of the time was spent on why to have two endpoints for getting this resource, one is a POST using a graphQL-like query and another one is a GET using unique ID. I said, the client-side use case is different, one is a dashboard where search results need to be shown based on multiple fields and the unique ID won't be available there because it is a system generated value, second one will be used when the unique ID is present in the client as a result of previous search result. Their responses will be similar, first returns a list of entities, second returns a single entity of the same structure.
Then came the next argument: if both APIs are returning same response, why do we need two different requests ?
It was like saying, because 5+6=11, any sum of two numbers resulting in 11 should always use 5 & 6.
Are people so frustrated of working remotely all the time that they come with such weird arguments ?1 -

My config-manager for Linux.
I began writing these apps because, I was fed up with changing shellscripts and make files, whenever I had new make files to add or something.

The second one was in pearl6, i t was better but still a bit hacky.
The now 3rd installation is a complete redesign in Go and works like a charm.

I've already done this week's topic (https://www.devrant.io/rants/703795) but here's my second one.
The Windows wScript API. It's just crappy. The easiest way to use it is to use AutoHotKey, FFS. That's a separate, 3rd party, script language. Not a simplified CLI, not a standardized library. There are both of these things but they barely fit the specification above. Ugh. -

I prefer a small company with good interpersonal bonds rather than a large company full of pretentious, obnoxious and disconnected co-workers.
I've been in both situations and the first one definitely beat the second one for me. Lunch at a large company.. shudders.. what a nightmare: forced topics, bullying, disconnect, bragging,.. Then again, small companies aren't innocent either; I've been to a crappy one too. It all depends on the people and how down-to-earth they are.
My two cents.3 -
I need to link two APIs such that data sent on one API gets processed and it hits a second API with the processed data.
The first API needs to format the data and decide according to data format which second API needs to be used. I checked Zapier and it's working but it is not exactly what i need to do. So are there any options other than setting up my own server?3 -

And today, I think I lost my second client and that he will never call me back...

I had two mentors that changed my life.
The first one I worked with him for 1 year and half. He made me a better programmer, and increased my knowledge in backend.
The second one I was only able to learn from him for about 3 months, but he expand my knowledge and I was able to learn new languages.
Now I am on my own, but would be happy to work for them again! -
I can already imagine in the future:
Remember back in the 10s when there was quantum computers with the size of a room for tens of thousands of dollars? Now everyone has one implanted in their head with 100 times the computing power! With the old hashing algorithms we could mine hundreds of blocks every second just with thinking about it1 -
Just made my second C++ program. Im so proud of it but one thing kept killing me inside...
The fact that I spent the entire day Sunday debugging it and only getting in a couple lines of code...4 -
Interviewer: What is typeof typeof []
Interviewee: I think it's Array
Interviewer: Why?
Interviewee: Because first one would return Array, so second one will also return Array
:/5 -
PERL.
So delighted perl has become the Latin of scripting languages. Horrific syntax, library drift and bloat second only to js, inconsistent lint/standards that no one followed anyway...
I'll grant it might have had its day, but delighted those days are now long gone (and even those days held arguably better alternatives available, but I digress).4 -
That one time when i just got my first job and I was new to everything aaaaand my aunt have already started to pitch the idea of me making some company with one of my second cousins (because he was studying for some business degree and i was the tech one)
I mean, I understand the wish to do things "in family", but family and money should never mix imo2 -
Is it harder to work a full time dev job or be a full time CS student with a part time dev job? I’m currently living the second one and it’s hard to balance both work and school.7
-
Can I just rant for one second. Being an entry level developer sucks. I would work for free right now just to have some structure and gain experience!6
-
I finally learnt flutter. Started in March, I’m deploying my second app now, third one is at 80 percent completion. Couldn’t have imagined this with native coding with Java and swift.
-
The secondary access point stopped working, turns out the date/time is wrong. You guessed it, the ntp server is hard-coded in the firmware (last version), no option to change it, it a linksys but not supported by openwrt.
Grabbed a second one, flashed with openwrt, same shit, and can't access by ssh because it's an old dropbear build.
Hate trashing things, but sometimes too much is too much 🍺2 -
Got home exhausted the other day. Told my non-tech wife that I have a lot to do. She asked, if she could do anything for me I need. I said: "Well, I need a network aware LoggerComponent." She replied: "Is that something I could paint?" My facial expression let her burst out in laugher within one second.1

What's your favourite non-alphanumeric piece of code?
Mine is "!!+" (JS, numeric string to boolean), second place is "+ ++" (many languages, plus the next variable increased by one).
They just remind me of the crazy world we live in.8 -
Am I the only one who hates that Slack has added a new `Drafts` section?
Like WHY TF? On one hand, I'm having some important work talk, and then I realize that I cannot see my boss's chat anymore and then I have to always look up and see the horrible Drafts section.
Although it is becoming second nature after a million times, I just don't like this feature at all.
IS THIS THE BEGINNING OF THE END?7 -
The feeling when you’re trying out a new thing as a developer and part of it is to use Google Cloud Platform and halfway through, Google starts vomiting errors and you can’t access any information and you think for a second that you broke Google before realizing that you’re not the only one having issues. #badtiming

Imagine there was an option to split your consciousness into two perfect copies. The one is stuck forever in the office working and making money for you, the second one lives its live without ever needing to work, it just receives the money in the bank account.
You are the second one.
Would you accept?16 -
That moment when you go to SO for help with an error and then you ask a second question because the program has another problem.
"I hope no one notices...👀" -
Side job - some consulting.
Second day of editing 70k one file, unmanageable javascript code to find memory leaks for some embedded device that is running on chromium embedded framework. Luckily there is chromium remote debugger for it so I can make snapshot and place some breakpoints.2 -

why the fuck second one is recommended??
In first, at least we do not required to remember that formula.9 -
Shit!!!!
Worst question I have seen around here.
I only had, at the moment, 3:
The first one was... unsignificant. Never learn anything important/relevant from him.
The second one didn't payed me for three months. I had to quit.
Still waiting for him to pay....... just being ironic his not going to pay.
The third one is bipolar and... well I already had stories shared here...so you can have a look.
I could say that I had another one. Is was my Father... best man in the world. My hereo. Learn the best things with him: Honesty, loyalty and Hardwork.
Sorry from any kind of mistakes on my writting. Long day and long night. -
I'm losing faith in my future right now!
I'm dying working for my current employer (read my last two rants) but no one wants to hire me and I'm not sure whether it's my skills, little experience or only halftime availability until I finish studies!
Also, while I'm at it, there are second to none game dev workplaces here, in Poznań (and working as a game dev is a dream <3).1 -
Today I created a second admin login for myself, deleted the first one, recreated the first one, then deleted the second one.2
-
I just changed my username from 'aashimaY' to 'sarena'. Can anyone guess what the new one means. Hint: It's a combination of two words, with the second half being a famous thing (I guess).
PS: You may not get the first half and that's fine. But I would love to see if anyone can guess the second one.11 -
Hmmm.. Google Pixel battery just died in a split second from like 50%. On one hand, im concerned about what just happened. On the other hand I hope it happens again so I can sleep in and go to work late without the associated guilt 😉2

Chronicles of UX struggles vol. 2
I ask the design team to do some sketches so I could see how they want the pages (2 pages), UX guy says he'll do the sketch for the page, and I ask to which one, the first one or the second one?
...
He answered me "Yes"...
Edit: he took over 3 hours to send me a new message after I tried to understand what he was indeed going to do... -
Is anyone familiar with Bitwig? It's a pretty good DAW and you can write your own controller scripts in JS. I bought two controllers (Launchpad Mini and Launch Control), one of which has a really outdated factory script and the other one doesn't have anything, so I decided to update the existing one and port it over to the other controller. They do similar stuff.
I started going through the code and I think it gave me cancer. It has many gems, but so far this is my favourite. The second is a function that takes two parameters and returns false. -
at the age of 12 I was bored so I started with html as I wanted to make a website, at the age of 14-15 is started with pure php, at 16 I started my first IT study for second line support and at 18-19 I finished my first IT study and started my second IT study for support mangement and when I'm done with it I'm planning on doing a third one for data center engineering.
-
I don't know... I'm very sceptic about JPA. I worked on a project using this technology and having much trouble and now I'm working on the second one, but sincerely I prefer the standard SQL approach. What do you think guys about this framework?1

Nvidia's drivers for Linux are absolute dog shit. Like how difficult is it to make something functional? I only have 2 monitors connected but the second one is causing the driver to crash, wtf.8
-
I had to program a webservice in PHP (never touched it before). First of all, i get why this language is so much hated. Second i had to debug one function for 5h because of 'é' in my DB.... UTF8 FTW i guess.
Let's finish this by a pun
PHP is really a rich language. -
It's been one month since I joined devRant, the community is awesome and it is good to be here.
It was the second-best suggestion given by Google in recent times. -
One year ago I made a resolution to do one of two things: get serious about learning neural networks, or finish one of the side projects (markdown based wiki with some nifty features). Didn't do the first one, and got the second one to about 50%.
Not really happy as I did not complete any goal. Still some decent work was done and built an open source parser. So, I guess I am 50% happy.
What were your achievements this year? Did you achieve 100%?3 -
first off, how is it that there are so many of these? mind boggling
second, there's really only one correct answer here, i'll have a go at anyone who thinks otherwise14 -
So on my computer I have 3 drives. I had two m.2 ssds and one sata ssd. I thought I had misc data on my sata. Turns out I had it on the second m.2. So I have been running my game installs off of the slower sata... I found out because I am updating my m.2 drives to 2TB from 1TB. What is funny is the data on the second m.2 is just temp storage. So I pulled it and put my new second m.2 2T drive to clone from the sata. It was failing to clone over usb for some reason. Not sure if software or something with drive. Cloning in process so will find out soon. The funny part is this makes it easier to update because I was using drives wrong. DOH!
It will be nice going from 3TB to 5TB. Woot!2 -
Been applying for jobs for a while and finally got 2 offers. The first company already sent me theirs, good money and tech stack that I'm used to but I'd have to relocate to another province and city.
The second company is the one that got back to me first, they haven't sent their offer letter yet but it's a good offer. Same pay as the one where I'd have to relocate (which I don't really feel like anymore).
And the deadline for the relocation job is today, I dunno what to do a d which option to choose between the 2.6 -
Having a question regarding build number semantics (Im working on android app for that matter)
My current app build which is released is 5.3.6 (build number 94)
I already merged one feature to develop but haven't released it.
I also finished working on another feature but haven't merged it to develop yet.
Now my question is should I make a new build (5.4.0 with build number 95) and just merge to master, then release to google play (it would contain both two features)
Or should I make a new build 5.4.0 bn 95, merge to master, release it. And then make another build for the second feature 5.5.0 bn 96 and release that as well?
My reasoning would be to go with 2 separate builds and versions (in case my second feature messes up, I can revert it and also it will be easier to manage versions).
But then what about users: will they receive two updates from google play or only one (the latest version) ?3 -
Worst hackathon? My second one, it was a hackathon competition I went to with school. A friend and me entered the js competition. Because of our bus being late, we started almost an hour after everyone else. So everyone else was way more ahead of us which gave us not only a disadvantage but also more stress. At the end we were pretty satisfied with our results but we knew we could've made it waay better in the details if we had an hour extra. Anyway, we came in second... major disappointment.1
-
is this normal?
I work in a small startup, we have only 6 developers.
Recently some changes were announced that a developer was promoted as the engineering manager and the second one as a team leader.
This sounds good and promising but isn't this somehow early at this stage and scale?
Did you guys had similar experiences where you end up having 3 managers (like me in this case) in a small startup?5 -
TIL following two lines are NOT the same in JS with webpack, even though logically they should be - it should be just an application of an eta reduction... First line works, second one crashes, probably because mysteriously executed too soon, before obj is initialized.
export const t = (...args) => obj.t(...args);
export const t = obj.t;
Sometimes I really hate JavaScript magic.2 -
I joined this company last month and all of a sudden I'm assigned to fix the most important fucking annoying bug that no one in the dev could reproduce.
Im beating my qss going behind people asking questions. Because iits my second month and I'm still fucking new.6 -
I love working at the new location.
My new colleagues are super chill and I'm within a 10 second walking distance to the coffee machine (one of these automates, where you just press a button and get a hot coffee within a minute, instead of having to start cooking a while before you actually need it)
But now I'm slightly worried, because my coffein-intake is skyrocketing because of this thing.2 -

I programmed a "crypographic" tool in python as my first application. It calculated the checksum of the entered password and preformed this cesa-shift-crappy-crypto thing. It was named crypto_mario and as I wasn't able to implement the decryption in the same application, I wrote a second one for that task, called crypto_wario

Not job but during internship, the guy I didn’t like gave me the electrical circuit task, with acid bath and shit. I had to create 2 from the original tEmplate. I realized one copy had one of its connecting plate removed by mistake. I duplicated my mistake on the second copy as well.
-
I got one task left... One algorithm to solve... That's the second day I'm on it... And I need to sleep so much... Fix yourself please, let me write random lines and please work...1

After a few months saving a few bucks, finaly got myself a second monitor to upgrade my studies/work...
Two days later, got back home from work to find my older monitor dead... I guess I'll go back to one screen setup for some time again :(5 -

I'm a physics student who have problem with the "theory without every application (even theoretical)" approach of my university. I'm at the second year. The year is near to end i will pass at the first year of Informatic Engineering, one of my real True love who took from me a lot of time. I don't know what will happen... obj &&
obj.property1 &&
obj.property1.property2 &&
obj.property1.property2.property3
OR
(((obj || {}).property1 || {}).property 2 || {}).property3
It's mostly for projects that don't support Webpack 5 optional chaining (like Vue 2).
I prefer the second one since it's shorter12 -
Today I came to work and all our main systems where offline (Gitlab, Artifactory, Time tracking, ...). Found out that one of the HDDs of our server (external hosted) died. I started copying some stuff from the second Raid hdd (just in case and because our backup is of course not complete [#notmyfault]) while their datacenter had a power outage.... I'm now waiting for our server to come back to get our systems running again

Any exprets to work with expressions in C# ?
I fucking don't get it...
var newExpression = oldExpression.Compose(x=> -1 * x) takes fucking 25 milli seconds.
BUT
var newExpression = oldExpression.Compose(x=> x > 0) takes 1 ms (or less).
WTF... the source "oldExpression" is the same in both cases.
First compose used for ordering, second for fdiltering.
1 hour already I'm trying to understand WHY first one is so slow. (It will be called like 500K times a day in prod).
the .Compose is based on :

When grafic designer design a list of products where on top of the page is header with title, category description, big fucking image, big fucking category navigation and on second screen list of the products.
Just why? Why put the important stuff (products) on second screen? Just why? You have three asses of space, you fucker. You can put category list on fucking SIDE. How many time you did this shit?
What about multilevel categories when menu just show current category children? I need to go fucking back or what? FUCK YOU! Stick this stupid boxes into your ass and design real navigation.
What is so fucking great to having big ass monitors and design more and more one column websites, just why you fucking retard?4 -
Writing PHP code for advent of code (https://adventofcode.com):
I'll use camel case for that function and snake case for the second one and why not just use all lowercase (what is that called anyway?) for the third function. Variables: $input, $inputs, $a, $count2, $xord, $yord. Why do I have no consistent naming scheme?!?! -
Am I the only one around here who waits a second or two after a new line to see if I get a red scribbly line in the next line. (Usually a missing semicolon indicator)
Don't remember the last time I had a missing semicolon.

This is the second company I've joined where someone has chosen contentful instead of just using one of the many other coherent headless cms.
Why does all the data look like shit? Why am I being forced to use their shitty js lib. I want an endpoint through rtkquery damn it like the rest of the app.
Contentful can burn in hell. -
there was a third part of a rant linking previous part, so i tapped it, and second part linked the first one, so i tapped it. read and tapped the system back button. read the second part and tapped system back button again. or maybe (probably) twice by accident, which took me back to rant list.
and then i spent half an hour looking for that third part, but it's nowhere to be seen in the list.
weird.3 -
That Microshit motherfucker, Windows 10, is constantly messing up AMD drivers by "updating them out".
I did a clean reinstall, moved past the retarded Crimson installer hanging up on branding components, and configured everything. I had to reboot, and that little twat of an OS prompted me with "just a second, Windows is updating" reboot screen, after which the drivers are fucked up again. And that is the second time it has done that.
I just had to move my screen back out of my punching radius, otherwise I would probably had to buy a new one.
Linux with GPU passthrough seems to be the only sane option theesedays.6 -
Little questions that can act as a survey,
I have a dual is tablet running Windows and Android the hardware is a Intel atom with 2gb ram and 32gb flash. I'm thinking of offering one of my OS's up but I want a second opinion.
What to kill windows 10 or Android 4.4.4 -
First chart library:
Perfect, but when you hide it, change tabs, come back and show them they freaking explode. Stupid bug, not ideal, I don't have time for this, move on.
Second chart library:
Cool, cute, but why doesn't it update? Wait, why did this one disappear? Why doesn't it ever appear again? Wtf? It's just like the others...
Do I really have to make my own chart library?1 -

Using AWS S3 web ui to copy a big folder from one to another and in the middle of copying, I got a pop up that your session has expired please refresh the page and task failed because of this.
What kind of security is this ? Can you check if any task is currently running.
Second who uses browser alert these days... wasted my one hour.7 -
One of those annoying moments: when you close the tab accidentally because you pressed ctrl+w in the current tab, but the active window was the other browser in your second monitor so instead you closed the wrong one... 😑... luckily there's "open last closed tab".. but still is annoying3

I hate those websites that paint within one second and then it takes two seconds to load all the other assets. It seems bare minimum to me. Idk about you all but I would rather have it loaded in three seconds instead of me trying to scroll immediately and thinking my computer is going to crash from the low framerate.7

In high school I had a digital media class, where we mostly learned Adobe design software and video editing and whatnot, but one project was to actually code using Programming (the software) and I loved it. Later that year I used a free project in the class to learn arduino per my teachers recommendation. Absolutely loved every second of that project, and have been coding ever since.

So still about one of our dev.
So each time he works on some bug fixes or he doesn't want how the services works, he want to redo the whole service.
He already redo 3 services that senior developers have work on. Seniors who have more experience than him.
Don't know what to do on this dev.
He doesn't even know how to use Git CLI. 🤦♂️2 -
Fuuu!!!
I'm currently on elementary.
I have two monitors, one plugged to my Rx 560 and GPU and the other to onboard graphics.
Despite this my main monitor is rendered on the Intel inbuilt GPU and I have stuttery gui on my primary monitor.

First worl problem.
There is only 1 10Gbits port on router. I'm already using it (Usage never exceeds 3.5 Gbits).
I wanto to add second device, also in 10 GBits.
Hub or Switch ?
On the one hand, my fiber max out at 3.5 Gbits.
On the other hand, I might want full 10 Gbitrs for Pc to PC communication.
Do I need 10 ? 99% : NO. But there is this 1% when everything is so fast !12 -
Hey guys,

Today I finally finished editing the video for my new song. I have been working on the song itself, recording hundreds of takes of instruments and vocals, for almost four weeks now.
Editing the video took about 3 days, partly because I am using Hitfilm 4 Express for the first time. It's definitely a huge step up from Windows Movie Maker, but I did hit one mindboggling snag which delayed me for more than an hour.
When the editing was done and I exported the finished video, I play it, only to discover that the first second or so of audio is missing. That's kind of important for a music video.
So I try all kinds of things. Reimporting the audio into the project in different resolutions, trying different rendering settings, deleting or adding audio tracks, you name it. And each time the finished video is missing that first second of audio.
And each render takes about 10 minutes to complete, which is a long time to wait for one second of silence!
Out of desperation I start thinking about adding the audio to the video in Windows Movie Maker, just because I know that always works, even if that will degrade the quality.
But before I do that I try one more thing: I add a few seconds of silence at the beginning of the song in Audacity, then import into Hitfilm one more time.
And then it works!
I shall report my findings to Hitfilm shortly :-)4 -
Okay, so I need a Twitter client library for my Python app. Surely there's a decent one out there, right?
> Goes to Twitter's developer site
There are links to nine different Github repos.
> Takes a look at the one with the most stars
Every method of the API class is @property decorated and returns the result of a function that creates an entirely new class, and then returns a new function that creates an instance of the new class and calls one of its methods that happens to actually make the damn API call.
Alright then...
> Takes a look at the one with the second most stars
All method names are PascalCased.
Please help😭 -
I hate the android development website. I'm trying to learn android development since two weeks and I didn't understand anything even though I was following everything the "Training" section said... Only yesterday I discovered that the "API Guides" section provides all the informations I need. Come on, why the hell is this se second section on the website??
This seems to be a user experience error to me.
Am I the only one? -
Plz help me to choose between two offers.
First one is a services provider firm where I would get to work alone on projects for clients. The con is their is no Senior Android Developer's in the firm
Second one is a startup where I will be working with a team on their product.
Points to be noted :
1) I am a fresher
2) both companies are offering me same position (Android Developer ) and salary.4 -
Is there a way to force VLC to stream a second monitor when there isn't one?
So trick the PC into thinking there is a second monitor and then have VLC stream that one?
Then watch the stream on another device.
Please don't say "just buy a chromecast." They cost a lot here and would not be worth it for my use case. Also this much more a "can I?" than a "should I"11 -
Hi,
I would like to ask please
If you were given a project to work on and it has some business rules. How do you work with it?
The reason I am asking this is because I created an application in C#
I created an application in two different ways.
The first one worked correctly
But the second one I followed the business rules as specified in order
same project but I didn't get same results.
Is the order on how / what to code first is important?
If yes, how will I know which part has to be coded first.
Thank you.3
