Someone asked me once to put a timer in an installer to slow it down because apparently it would make the software seem to be more important if it took longer to install.
Ever since being asked this I now wonder does why it takes so long to install some software.. Do developers actually do this?7 -
Do you ever wonder why the UK public sector has such a bad computer system? This! This is why!!! What a frigging waste of money!!!! Every computer in the school has this stupid set up!!!19
-
Wonder why my colleague threw this book on my desk?
I accidentally changed all product prices from decimal(10,4) to decimal(10,0) on two live web shops with several thousands of products.
And it's friday 4 pm.
Have a nice weekend!16 -
The teacher told me to describe the transformations, so I did. I wonder why she didn't accept it...10

PHP sucks
JavaScript sucks
Python sucks
C sucks
C++ sucks
Apple sucks
Microsoft sucks
Linux based operating systems suck
Vim sucks
Emacs sucks
$IDE_OF_CHOICE sucks
Docker sucks
The way we talk about our tools makes we wonder why we do programming in the first place.23 -
When business people keep dragging you into one meeting after the other and then wonder why that code you were supposed to write is not ready yet...2
-
I would absolutely love it if people would write their own stupid code instead of blindly mixing everyone else's mental diarrhea together and pouring the resulting mess into their bloody stupid IDE. At least then I could insult them properly. As it is, they're outsourcing their fucking stupidity to the lowest fucking bidder and then bragging about how quickly they get everything done. And management eats it up! No wonder everything is a slow, tangled, unmaintanable mess.
I can't fix much of anything because almost none of it is in my control. It's all autogenerated bullshit glued together with laziness and poor taste. "But Root, why is fixing this taking so long?" Gee, I wonder why. Maybe if someone had built it somewhere in realm of correctly the first time, it wouldn't have all fallen apart when someone looked at it the wrong way!
Seriously, there's no way this pile of stale fertilizer could have passed QA.rant idiots import * fragile monstrosity leggy devs why code when you can steal no independent thought npm mentality10 -
Wait what's that? You don't use version control on Production servers?
You want me to do what?
You want me to rename every file I have to replace with an underscore and the date after the extension so it looks like this?
SHIT.JAR_01262019
You've got to be fucking kidding me right!?
No?
Oh the production server is down again?
Is it because we're not using the right Jar file?
Well shit, I wonder why that's happening...2 -
I love when job postings are like, you will use THIS tool, and THIS is how it will be accomplished!!!! NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
bitch, i'm the senior engineer, I should be the one picking and choosing tools to match your needs, not you and HR pals!
no wonder your job offer still isnt' filled!
i'd love to ask these organizations why they chose such boomer technologies in the first place and why there is no effort to change to much more developer / user friendly tools.... just a red flag from the start11 -
Here's a favorite of mine. Managers need to be in meetings to be productive. Developers need to stay far away from meetings to be productive. Managers love to drag developers into meetings and then wonder why their productivity is down.1
-
Me: I think you should keep your data in a proper database.
Client : Don't try to up sell your products to me. Excel works just fine! Been keeping data in it for years! Wonder why you ever need a database to begin with.
What would you say? Cause I'm speechless.6 -
This company has been a "start-up" for 5 years farming money off of fucking idiots using a shitty CMS.
- The senior dev gets paid 15/hr
- No use of version control or testing
- the CEO has no fucking knowledge about tech.
and you wonder why it's FAILING?! I'm surprised you guys stayed afloat this long, jesus fucking christ.5 -
*the Company closes a project and splits us in different teams*
Me: *tells the manager for half a year about feeling extremely bad in the new team which is mobbing me, caling the previous project "shit" (it was not, it simply didn't need to be alive anymore cause we found out cheap alternatives) and not letting me do anything*
Company(half a year later): *sends me into a new project* we don't get why you are underperforming lately.
Me: *full burnout after half a year of being treated as living shit* yeah. Wonder why.8 -
I can get absolutely dead pissed by the fact that a FUCKING 1800 euro laptop can't do a fucking basic thing like connecting to a bloody WiFi ap?
so why, you wonder? oh no, the problem isn't the fucking hardware. IT'S THIS DEAD BEAT PIECE OF SHIT CALLED WINDOWS. mfw when it runs fine under Linux, BUT WE CANT HAVE NICE THINGS CAN WE ADOBE?!?8 -
Me: ya hi, we integrated with your API and I'm receiving error x
Provider: ok we'll disable validation, plz check
Me: ya it works, what's the problem? I used a GUID for id and I'm sure it's unique, here is URL and request body
Provider: you have something wrong in your implementation. Fix it and it will work
Me: aaand what's the wrong part of my implementation?
Provider: id is not unique, fix it. *Hangs up*
I sometimes sit and wonder, how and why does this kind of people get hired, FOR FUCK SAKE YOU ARE THE PROVIDER AND YOU DONT KNOW WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG!
fucking useless ...7 -
i got high praise for my work today, and i can't understand why 😂
i consider my work average at best, but my boss told me everyone sings my praises behind my back. i wonder how dire things must be that this is considered excellent11 -
You have to wonder why our retarded education system still forces students to learn Pascal(Delphi)... 2nd most hated language in the world... I am learning this stinky pile of shit right now because I have my school-leaving exams from it tomorrow but oh man the pain...26
-
"Did you not see (x important announcement) guys?! It was posted very clearly in the group teams channel and everyone was tagged!"
"No, we turned off notifications for that teams channel so didn't see it."
"What?! Why on earth would you turn notifications off, everything posted there is incredibly important! You must turn them back on now!"
Channel history:
- @everyone "HEY GUYS IT'S FRIDAY! Let's celebrate by everyone posting their favourite gif! Go go go!"
- @everyone "Choo choo guys it's the training train! How about we all share our best training experience for a bit of positivity?"
- @everyone "Hi I lost my laptop can anyone help find it"
Yeah... I wonder why...4 -
Why are modern apps so god damn huge? A fucking messaging app doesn't require 500000000000000 MB!!! I wonder what shit load of fuck they're packing in those apps.13
-
Me: I prefer to make sure dev is fully separated from prod, that way if we fuck up, it doesn't matter.
Manager: It's fine, the service isn't fully deployed and dev/prod are named differently.
Me: runs ansible script to stop dev
*prod breaks*
Me: Huh. Wonder why that happened.2 -
Do not hire a team of full stack developers such that the entire teams' core competency is back-end development and then wonder why they can't hurry the fuck up to design and build usable, device-friendly interfaces.
Hire a damned front-end dev.1 -
I woke up and had a thought...
I may have exceeded "10,000 hours of experience" in programming.
10,000 hrs / 2hrs per day / 360 days in a year = 14 years
I've been programming for 20 years as a hobby, and 5 years professionally which I think averages out to the 2hrs per day
I wonder if and how I should put that more explicitly on my resume. And maybe that's why I see so many monkeys at work...7 -
Fun fact: on average it's just as fast to type in your search query into Google as it is to get the bloody fucking assistant to understand what you're saying, especially when it includes words that aren't used very often. Makes one wonder why we've developed these things in the first place... 🙄5
-
Hey boss, I see you working saturday 11pm updating these fucking cards...
That is why you manage to "do the impossible" , get a life dude... go be with your wife and "soon to be" kid.
Damn, no wonder he always says the deadline is possible.2 -
As an IT student learning only C# and Java, I was asked very specific questions on c++ about micro optimizations, and binary operations (why i haven't learned that i still wonder, i had to self teach it)
Because of not being able to answer that i was denied that internship, because fuck your and wanting to learn as a student.
I litterally mastered all questions asked the day after the interview just out of spite. It were all concepts i easily understood but they valued their paper based interview more than actually giving me some code to work with.2 -
I was bored so I scanned through Dev.to and Medium. I lost the remnants of the little hope I had left for mankind...
JS this, Python that, JS that... and so much other mindless articles of exactly zero substance and headlines to make any self-respecting dev cringe for days.
I meant to write something else, too, but I'm too saddened now. I no longer wonder why so many of the fresher self-made "devs" are so idiotic of a breed...35 -
I always wonder why people complain about php being horrible, then I actually see the code they write.
It's like complaining "I can't believe I have to use such a horrible desk" when it's littered with empty coffee cups and yesterday's lunch.4 -
I wonder why stack overflow gets so much hate on here. To me, it is a tremendously helpful community. People are usually pleasant and forthcoming.
I sometimes see questions closed as "not constructive", even though it has thousands of upvotes, but generally, if you follow the rules, you'll have a good time.
Maybe people want SO to be something it is not, or maybe people behave differently around different technologies. I mostly find Python, Djang and general web answers, and they are fine5 -
Javascript! What a fucking horrible language it is.
I just wonder why this fucking language became this popular nowadays just performance is not a good reason to use this fucking language everywhere.13 -
Ever wonder why man prints 'gimme gimme gimme' only at 12:30? https://unix.stackexchange.com/q/...3

* Colleague asks how to make a alias for IP address
* Open up notepad++ w/ admin rights and load C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts in
* add a new entry to map IP to the alias
* hit sequence [ENTER][ESC]:wq[ENTER]
* wonder why is notepad window still there... Did it freeze again?
... happens to me all the time :(4 -
When I'm on Windows, I miss Linux sometimes
When I'm on Linux, I miss Windows sometimes
When I'm on mac, I wonder why this isn't Linux instead22 -
I wonder why there is a new JavaScript framework every 10 minutes. Could the issue be with the JS language itself?
Naaaaaaaah .... Impossible .....23 -
Customer: Do you need my computer password?
Me: Yes, I do. Why don't you write it down for me? *fills out work order form while she writes down her password*
Customer: Here you go *slides me sticky note with password on it*
Me: *usual spiel about computer repair stuff*
Customer: *leaves*
Me: *to Coworker* So this lady's password is "AmishForLife* (modified for security purposes).
Coworker: On her iPad?!
Me: And her computer, yes
Coworker: *laughs*
Me: I wonder how well that's working out for her... -
I wonder if the meeting at Rubber ducks quack association goes like this...
Why the hell doesn't my guy see the problem? It's fucking right there! Why don't you see it??? OMG! I request for a change of owner.1 -
When you forgot to escape characters in regex and wonder why the fuck it’s not working for 2 hours. 😖
Why regex must you be a living hell!3 -
"It is risky to release an app that depends on APIs that you don't control."
Yeah, dude, we also live in the real world.
Better to say: "Your app should handle cases where the third party API is partially or even totally down."
God, some people, they build a wall of rules around themselves and wonder why their skills don't improve.13 -
First, why didn't I know about this app sooner.
Second, a month into my new job as senior frontend and wonder am I good enough.
Third, I know I just need to get out of my head.
Lastly, glad to be here.7 -
Sometimes I wonder:
Who actually cares?
About what I do
About what I make
About me.
Why put in effort if there is no different result? Why am I always sad? What ruins my day? Is there really hope? Why? So many life questions I want answered. Do I care too much? I definitely think way too much. Why am I so lazy. The questions I have.
Cheers,
To a better day.13 -
Half the papers on multimodal learning refer to studies on human children learning. Makes me wonder why we never study animals to know how their multimodal learning works so fucking well that some newborns can function straight out of the womb/egg.10
-
Our CTO doesn't believe that tests improve code quality. We have no tests on any level, no testers/QA, no code reviews. Nada. I wonder why production keeps breaking 🤔 Guess I'll start looking for another job 🤷♂️20
-
There has probably not been any situation when I would feel more stupid than now.
I just did a refresh of windows. It means quite a lot of work, as I need to do all the WSL related config and so on.
And I did it because I'm an extremely smart man and I didn't check that my primary screen was turned off.
I WONDER WHY I COULDN'T SEE SHIT1 -
I am a senior a DevOps engineer who took the production stack down for ~10 minutes today because of a bad code commit. I could use some encouragement! It’s a fierce world of competitive engineers and I wonder why my company doesn’t replace me. The mistake was missed by two other peer reviews... but that doesn’t stop me from feeling this way.
Have you crashed prod? Did your team support you or tear you down?14 -
In this company we hire consultants to manage consultants Who spend their days in meetings with other internal consultants.
Wonder why profits are down, we need more consultants!1 -
Do you ever wonder why EVEN Microsoft uses web technologies to build apps for Windows?
Because the StAte oF tHe aRt piece of shit WINUI 3 (aka Project Reunion aka Windows App SDK aka Microsoft 12th app framework in this decade) can't handle a basic save/open dialog.
An issue has been opened 2 fucking years ago and still no fix. (Other than write 250 lines of c# and c++ to get a fucking dialog)
Fuck this I'm going back to Electron.5 -
Bought a series on Amazon, "Normal People". Trailer was English, my profile is set to Germany/English, but when I started the film, it was the German dubbing audio, with no option to switch to English. Could be worse, as I am a native German, but often 80% of the original atmosphere of anything gets lots by translation and German studio speakers.
Just in case staff at Amazon wonder why I rarely watch nor buy anything from them, this is one of the reasons. Of course they wouldn't, I'm just one in a million customers, but fuck them anyway.5 -
Guess who got fucking fired. They want someone more experienced. Well fuck off. Its no wonder why there are no front end developers in your company. Now until the end of this month I have to find some job because of bills.. Going to try freelancer and check a couple of companies in my area. Any tips on how to get a freelance job?9
-
Ladies and gentlemens, my everyday workstation.. at work.
i5-5300 2,30Ghz, 8gb ram and 128ssd. Bloated external screen with low resolution and even lower colour saturation.
Running VM, handling big as images, editing and a tiny bit coding.. and they wonder why I'm asking for a new setup..

Cheers ☕3 -
This kid on the tape is me. I'm not even two years old there and I'm already messing around with wires.
Five minutes later on that tape I figured out how to turn the vacuum cleaner on and tried to tie it to the cassette deck.
No wonder why I'm a programmer now 😂 -
Just saw a role advertised for a front end developer. Skills required amongst other things·
· Integrating with middle-tier microservices such as NodeJS
· .NET Core (2.1+), C# 7.0+ and JAVA
· SQL Server, T-SQL, MySQL
· Azure Dev-ops
There are other standard and expected front end requirements but want someone with 4+ years experience
Salary £19,000 - less than two thirds of the national average salary for non UK folks.
Applications: 0
Hmm I wonder why6 -
The state of modern information. Top post: based on feelings, completely uninformative.
Second, almost half as upvoted: actual answer to question (Which was "Why don't Presidential debates disable the candidates' microphones while it's not their turn to speak?").
No wonder people don't have a clue what they're going to spew when they open their mouth.

When it's late at night and my wife and child have gone to bed and I pull out the laptop to start some code/specification I question my life choices.
Does anyone else wonder why they're driven to do what they do?4 -
Working from third world country means getting paid just 10-20% of world wide salaries and already being happy about it, because your salary is still 4 times higher than other local ones.
Silly wishes for career. To achieve getting paid 90%+ of the salary in the next close years. Or at least 50%.
Some of the local people continue work for 10% salary all their career life here... I wonder why? Why not to fight for your place in the world?10 -
There's always a moment when your entire codebase starts breaking up piece by piece and you just wonder why did you choose this job, why you are a programmer, why you don't work at a bar or something like that9

Sometimes I wonder why my company has a helpdesk for our customers when the help desk doesn't even know how to use the product we sell. I spend more time supporting our helpdesk than I do programming.1

Sometimes i wonder, why do big companies write horrible api, it feels like they don't want beginners to even touch them 😒3

"Come on, please try a bit harder. Why don't the IT students make an app to sell local goods online or something? Even I, without knowing anything about tech, consider this to be easy".
Wise words from a non tech substitute teacher I once had the honor of studying under. When he checked everyone's 1 month project proposals, he expressed his disappointment.
I wonder if he works in management now.1 -
Here I am wondering why the array only has 1 item after the loop finishes. I wonder if it's because the array I'm pushing too is INSIDE the loop...😁1
-
I wonder so many devs hate Windows then why dont we stop creating products for it and start migrating all major projects (like games and software) to linux.7
-
Just found this absolute 5 head, galaxy brain implementation in a piece of code which is called in a loop by a background scheduler which has performance issues.
There are 20+ properties, some which are recursively calling other properties with the same implementation style in this class.
Constant out of memory errors have been reported for this software, I wonder why...15 -
I still wonder why people go to programming classes thinking a dev is paid a lot. Not all devs are paid a lot and it takes passion and hard work to be a good dev. Don't just go there for the money. You'll regret wasting your life.4
-
> you are a teacher at a university
> you are supposed to teach advanced things to students

🎶Lemon Tree🎶
I wonder why,
I wonder how,
This stupid piece of code actually works right now.
And all that I could see, it's actually compiling...

Manager: how long does it take to add this functionality?
Me: 🤔, give me 6 days.
Man: perfect, you'll have 4 days
Me: why ask me then?
Man: so you feel included in the decision 🙂
Me: ..... Right... And ignored....
And now he wonders why, since then, I overestimate the times... And I wonder why he didn't fire me, my friends get scared everytime I talk to our manager 😛, actually, they forbid me from talking in meetings 😛. -
2 Questions for guys [and gals, let's not be sexists..] with beards.
1. Why the beard? :)
2. What dev are you [bkend/fend/fstack, what lang.?]? Or admin?
I wonder if there is a correlation..16 -
That's it. I'm fucking retarded. I'm just so fucking retarded. I'm so fucking supid, it makes me wonder why do I even keep trying. I'm not sure I even have the energy in my fingers to keep typing this stupid rant.
I've been banging my head against this stupid fucking issue for A WEEK. Digging into the documentation, trying different library versions, trying to move stuff around even if it didn't make sense, trying to use different approaches because maybe I was missing something, or maybe I didn't understand some concept.
Surely spawning a child function from a parent can't be that hard, right?
Nothing.
Even tried it on a different OS - who knows, maybe it's Windows doing some if its magic fuckery?
Still nothing.
"Wait, why am I calling this function directly instead of calling its parent?"11 -
You never realise how easy development is for Linux till you actually use a CLI compiler and do anything native or is development related...
Really makes you wonder why Mac and windows are so locked down yet claim they are a great development platform...2 -
I was pair programming today with one of the seniors in VS. He thought it was weird that I had docked solution explorer to the left side instead of the default right. This makes me wonder, why is solution explorer docked to the right side by default when in almost every other editor (even VS Code), the "document overview" is always on the left?5

The better I become at developing for wordpress, the more I wonder why any developer would want to.2

I just wrote this code, let's see if the dude who is going to work with it after me will rant about checking state right after setting it as null.
I wonder if he will know why I did this ...30 -
I wonder why code doesn't work
Look blankly at code for 1 hour
Notice I put underscore instead of dot.
Be mad at myself for making a function name yaml_load that I confused as yaml.load.
Get a cup of tea, kinda depressed but glad the issue is resolved.
Get glasses. -
As someone who works in Student Administration with an expensive and broken system, I often wonder why we can't just get the IT students to build us a system as part of their Final Year Project.4

So I installed Nougat yesterday on my OPO as some apps n Google seem to not like CM 13...
It runs so fast and smooth... Not sure why but kinda feels like I got a new phone 😄😄
Wonder what it'll be like if I ever get to upgrade to Oreo... 🤔🤔🤔🤔
And it seems it likes attracting cats14 -
Just realized Devrant had a FB page... Wonder why I never thought it would have one until now. Anyways yeah, sad there's less than 1k likes. Lets go and like it guys!3

application runs fine..

can you debug? ok .. .... ... .. ah it's that change I just did2 -
Does anyone else wonder why production builds fail when it gets closer to releases? That shit happens a lot!6

Just discovered one of our core systems had literally used api key validation of "drop into database, if exists, its fine"
Well, around 30 seconds later, I have successfully authenticated with apikey "%". Wonder why.... Sigh... Patch already pushed, but still it left bad taste in my mouth...
lesson for beginers:
validate, validate, validate. If user could touch it, treat is as broken unsafe and if used it will nuke your home. check if it will, than use it. -
I work as an intern in a big company. There is a person who joined the company recently with about 6 years of experience in other big companies. He can't do simple things like adjusting his computers resolution and raised a request for a new monitor. He used to wonder why his request was denied 😐 later when I got to know this had happened, I went and fixed the resolution, he was so fascinated.. Hmm...1

You see this fucker? Those are packets sent to Apple, what are those packets? The update of an app I am working on.
Makes me wonder why the fuck does upload disconnect out of a sudden when there is not a single issue in the network I'm connected to!
Apple get your shit together cuz an update process takes more time than developing the damn app!2 -
daily reminder (most of you don't need it i know) that reddit is full of the most ignorant and dumb people on the planet
thought i could hop into comments on a /r/worldnews post for interesting discussion and discourse, no, its just idiotic neckbeards trying to one up eachother on painfully cringe doomer phrases and / or who can get the most upvotes from their godawful dumbass pun
what a fuckin cesspool
and they wonder why the world is going to shit7 -
Jmonkey 3 is so damn fast wow, why dont they use this wonder instead of unity?

I still wonder why some certifications cost 200$+ just to answer some questions to get a PDF certificate without actually being trained or receiving studying material.9

Sometimes I wonder how large the gap between tech savvy n normal is.
All those stories about too much time on social media...
and also not knowing why you should get a tempered glass screen protector.... Even if you're screen is reinforced with Gorilla Glass...15 -
Are there more people here who prefer codual over visual?
UML diagrams are fun and all, but I personally prefer to have a code example over an uml diagram when it comes to a few classes that work together. Not exactly sure why I prefer it that way, in my head I translate uml to code in order to understand it better and if you show me a piece of code I don't have to do that translation.
I wonder what you guys' thoughts are 🤔5 -
My gods, fuck WordPress in the backend!
Why did my company decide on writing a data collection api with many dynamic pages on top of WordPress. It's a blog, not a wonder tool you dumbwits.
Never have I had more fuck this moments per hour..2 -
Just found out today that may FINALLY be able to start charging for the development work our team does. 😎
Just have to wonder why this could have happened ages ago.
**Spoilers**
It was the sales team. That's why! -
I've heard a lot of nice things about python so today I decided to check it out and HOLY CRAP this is an amazing language! Really makes me wonder why I didn't look into this sooner!
Seriously though! I looked at the documentation and official tutorials for like 30 minutes before writing a selection sort algorithm using only six lines of code. I'm quite mind blown.8 -
I just realize I made QA wait for 5 minutes while testing session handling on the app when I missed just a single zero and made the session expire after 30 seconds instead (instead of 300000 milli calculation produced 30000)
He tried 3 times and then opened a ticket not knowing why session is always expired
wonder if I should tell him >_> -
Helping a friend study for a midterm for a web development class at the university I went to. They have a new teacher this semester and I’m reviewing his slides about javascript to see where the confusion is...
First slide: based off of Java, hence the name JavaScript, but is not Java. Borrows most syntax from Java.
And they wonder why employers comment on the surveys: “unprepared for the workforce”
Looked up the professor.. no experience teaching or any background in cs. And people pay 6-12k / semester for this state university.1 -
That moment when you develop on localhost and wonder why the page does not refresh while in fact you're looking at the staging.

I just read Jeff Bezos' article on Medium about how the ones at American Media are threatening him of leaking his private pictures.
As I was reading it, I felt, "Man, how low has journalism come to these days. Here is a guy who's worked so hard to build one of the world's biggest companies, and here are the ones at the National Enquirer trying to bring this man down."
To be honest, who gave them the right to indulge in a person's private life? Why do they have to say, "A nude selfie with his wedding ring on?" Maybe, he sent that image to his wife. This makes me wonder, "Is this the way we treat humans?"
Why are we concerned about what a man does in his personal life? What impact does taking down a man in public bring?
Thoughts, please!13 -
Whenever I see job postings with salaries this low I always wonder exactly what's going through the minds of the people running the company.
Who in their right mind would want to spend 4+ years working hard on a CS degree only to be offered less than what the average retail manager earns? I barely afford a 1 bed flat share on this salary in my part of the country...
I'm starting to run into more and more job adverts like this. Why are companies working so hard to rip of graduates?13 -
A recent post by someone else regarding dial-up made me wonder: Why did it have that specific, trademark noise when connecting?? What was the purpose of that? It's not like it was useful or anything, right?6

Here I am for three months trying to implement TypeScript in this project that was a dump when I picked it up.
And then some morons get assigned to the project and just start adding @ts-nocheck everywhere?
Like, WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?
And then you wonder why the project is bug-ridden??
FUCK THESE PEOPLE THAT CALL THEMSELVES JAVASCRIPT ENGINEERS!! NO WONDER JS GETS SUCH BAD PRESS WITH ALL THESE CLUELESS IDIOTS TO WHOM STATIC TYPING IS JUST AN OBSTACLE TO THEM CHURNING OUT LINE AFTER LINE OF "CODE"3 -
Oh the landing page you gave me 2 fucking hours to complete isn't converting so well??? I wonder why 🙃🙃🙃1

Damn people are hostile today... I wonder why. Could it be the heat?
I suppose that this is one of the reasons why I like working at night, alone, at my desk though. No people to worry about.2 -
No wonder why Google Chrome takes up alot of RAM when running, I've just seen chromiums dev requirements:
System requirements
- A 64-bit Intel machine with at least 8GB of RAM. More than 16GB is highly recommended.
- At least 100GB of free disk space on an NTFS-formatted hard drive. FAT32 will not work, as some of the Git packfiles are larger than 4GB.
- An appropriate version of Visual Studio, as described below.
Windows 7 or newer.8 -
Everywhere I go I see these "Become senior in 3 weeks" courses
That's good and all
But when the fuck will you teach your students to debug and search your errors on google/stackoverflow
This is so fucking ridiculous
Them guys can't even read git push/pull errors and wonder why they make changes to the code but nothing happens10 -
Man why is it that the languages that I like get shit on by like 90% of developers. Whiney little cunts that get mad at css because they think "oh I can just inline style and it'll be fine" No wonder your X looks like fucking roadkill. And I fucking love python. Maybe if the Oracle overlord didn't have a goddamn chokehold on ever major hardware manufacturer python would be more prominent.7

Reason for rejected pull request on hacktoberfest: "wrong commit message"
...are you fucking dumb or what?
damn robot machine clowns, you wonder why you don't get better at your craft
"we love open source, making it so prohibitively convoluted to participate!!! why won't anyone contribute to our repo?!?!?!"
clowns, absolutely everywhere i swear10 -
When I first began with Python I really missed the static typed checking from Java, I barely know anything about a returned object from a method and have to read the API extensively for every new library.
After a while I finally understand why Python is so powerful, the combination of dynamic typed language and rich default methods make the language unbeatable for your productivity.
While Java's Object only has toString(), hashCode(), equals() or clone(), Python's basic Class has every fucking method for every scenario I could ever image. No wonder that libraries like numpy or pandas work so well and fluidly.8 -
When a job portal of a company wants your current and permanent address (I still don't know why) and EXPLICITLY wants you to type your address all over again, coz they are the SAME DAMN THING, makes me wonder if I should apply to the company at all.4

Work gave me a linux computer and asks to integrate an application that has no Linux support and wonder why it is going slower. The linux computer also has not enough RAM to develop comfortable on a VM
*sigh*6 -
Since I'm back to working for myself again and haven't been able to find a reliable hire, I'm alone. In this bubble, no one cares/sees/appreciates my backend code and I just realized that's why I've been slacking so bad on this ETL process. No one gives a shit about it but me. If I build an interface, I get kudos and everyone celebrates, but working on a three server process with layers of abstraction, auto-scaling, etc...and people just wonder if I'm jerking off all day.
Sometimes it sucks to be a lone ranger.1 -
I wonder why, Every now and then, some non-dev friend asks me, "Hey can you hack this Facebook ID for me..." :/ ............2
-
Why!!!
Why must some devs make life complicated!!!!!!
So, here I am enjoying my day (well enjoying the meetings that are taking me away from working) when I get a bug report that script X isn't sending out emails anymore.
Ok that's weird, this as far as I know uses the same email class as every other email being sent out from this project, and they all work.
Let's go have a quick dig...
function sendEmail(){
/*do a bunch of stuff*/
}
Is being used, well that's odd, it should be $emailService->send()
But what ever, it's probably an old wrapper for legacy sake since this script was written years ago. But nope, I almost cried, it's a wrapper for mail() isolated into this script.
Like for fucks sake, why in the hell would this be used when there's an entire fucking class that's tried and tested and only looses 1 email every few months, coz shit happens.
Errrrr.... sometimes i really wonder why people can't just do what they need to do the first time round.rant i'm tired of fixing bullshit code emails why you no work php i don't get paid enough for this shit oh god that's why4 -
I always wonder why the IT guys seem to be short tempered when dealing with dev related issues.
Now I understand...
For a few days I have to help my colleague setting up his new project and dear Lord...
I thought I have enough patience because I am a woman...
This guy is very very junior, I couldn't get any input/ideas from him when debugging
Dear god, help us because I am the only one with enough experience in this project.11 -
When you get this great idea at 2 am, code it out and the next day you wonder why you even bother to be a developer

When I started ssh'ing into remote linux machines I would wonder why a lot of the programs I started wouldn't keep running after I logged out... :facepalm:6

After working with a bunch of people it occurred to me that almost anyone can work and learn for most IT positions. This is something that most people will realize, especially if they work with newbies that learn on the go. There are exceptions of course, but most companies are just making crud apps with their business logic.
What I wonder then is, why is it that the way hiring is done seems to be completely against this idea? Rather than whining about recruiters and bad interviews, I am curious about why this is so common. What is it that a lot of companies think or see that make their hiring process so bad or convoluted?11 -
what the fk how hard can it be to have a working version of the software on the master/ ros-version branch? Why is this thing always broken?! HOW?!
Had to update today unfortunately, and man, I have been "installing" this shit for over 3 hours now. Use the .install they said. It will be fast they said. Ye sure, my ass. The Dependencies are broken and incomplete as always and the tutorial is not up to date. Big suprise. I get it, it's a lot of work to keep these things up to date. But please if they are this broken and incomplete why are they released in the first place.
And then they wonder why I don't manage to do my work on time. Yeah, cause I'm stuck debugging this shit <.<'1 -
Idk why but it feels like lately i've such a pessimist approach to any new-tech (barring languages)
Any new framework or wrapper or CI/CD handler and without even seeing beyond description my instinct goes "fuccccccccck this, I hate it, it'll break things"
I wonder if theres a way to fix this mindset T__T or am I just getting old idkkk6 -
Last weekend I visited my aunt for her birthday. Someone reminded me of the passion for chess one of my smaller cousins had
(they grow so fast, I finally understood all those remarks from the grandmas back then 🥲)
and asked if he wanted to play a few rounds. Sure damn he wanted to, because he whipped out that chessboard like a gunslinger I tell you
I wonder why everyone looked at me in such pity, and I found out why soon enough: turns out in all the years, he’s competing in country championships and now has an ELO of around 1600. Every match felt like being a fly in a venus trap. I was losing and I didn’t even know why. The grip became tighter while I was burning my neurons on some sugar. That was very uncomfortable. At least, reading from his face, he had fun, and I learnt some Turkish Kebap Defense variant lol -

So i was going through the Pragmatic Programmer book and i saw a name in the acknowledgements section... Alistair Cockburn... And my mind just started imagining all these scenarios where he was bullied. He has a great firstname though Alistair sounds like such a badass name and thats why i bet when he is introducing himself, firstnames only he just refuses to tell his last name i seriously wonder how he went through the wedding if he had one. Mr. and Mrs. Cockburn 😂 oh god this is so childish but so funny.6

Do, as many of you fellow developers, I have a social pressure to do something with my life over the weekends, instead of geeking out or reading new best practices ..
So I finally decided to go see the Irish Curragh regatta organized by the Irish in Barcelona association ..
Nice and sunny Barcelona, besides the sea ..
Came home after three hours with a sun stroke, lobster face, completely blind despite the sun glasses, and with a terrible dizziness .. on my bike!
And they wonder why we spend time with our computers at home ..1 -
When you wonder why it doesn’t work put print statements all over the code, because you want to find the error, but no print Statement works even if it just should print test...

Be careful helping family, if they don't understand how a website are run and work they should not have a web-shop.
Sister who "runs" the shop never updates my payment extension nor knows how to update a single page and she wonder why my extension have so many faults even after i have updated it 5 times since i installed it for her 4 months ago and showed her how to click the "update" button. She yells and screaming i destroying her business.
And i still need to be kind to my sister; FML -
Any meeting involving our UX team. They get a program to drag and drop pictures of pieces of the website and then wonder why the devs implementing it don't want to

Heh, I'm curious... Before you ++ someone, do you glance at how many ++s does the person already have? Does this influence you choice whether to ++ or not?
And how about comments? Does ++s count affect whether/how you coment on one's rant/comment?
I've caught myself clicking ++ only bcz I saw the uswr already had >10k. I wonder why is that :)
edit: I'm not proud of it6 -
Today I think it became apparent why we have so many data and prod issues...
No one understands SOLID design principals... Particularly Separation of Concern. No wonder all the Spring (DI) modules look like a mess of God functions that are impossible to reuse and difficult to extend...3 -
I see people posting pictures of computers (ATMs, ad screens, digital signs, instruments, etc) failing and instead showing some Windows function, update, or the desktop. Makes me wonder: WHY would you use Windows this way? Think of how many product keys you'll have to buy and how many systems you'll need maintain to show a stupid sign? There's GOT to be a cheaper way of doing things like this.4

When the manager doesn't show up to a meeting, we get everything disscussed sorted and even summarised in an email...simples! Yet manager insists on having "another" meeting just to go over everything we all discussed. We wonder why it takes twice as long... We have to explain EVERYTHING, just let us get on with it!!2

tl;dr Why Linux?
So yeah, another Linux question. I love C# and been doing some WPF and Xamarin stuff and planning to learn ASP.NET, but why do I hear that Linux is better than Windows for web dev. Why should I learn it especially if I want to specialize in .Net? Sorry just a student and I heard Microsoft is bringing a lot of Linux goodness to Windows and I wonder why.10 -
Why do Apple have to hide the ”request desktop version” button behind the refresh button on the Ipad?
I get Idea. They problably thought it like you refresh as desktop site. But it took me ages to find out how to request desktop site!
Why cant it just be like chrome and have the settings and tools behind a menu where everything is.
And this is just one of many of Apple products flaws! Shame on you Apple!
If you wonder why i even use a ipad it’s because it’s a school ipad that is locked so we cant install apps.6 -
Sometimes I just wonder how.
I spent hours trying to find out why nothing was being rendered on screen. In the end I realized that my full-screen triangle consisted of 2 vertices. -
I wonder why it is possible to like/upvote your own post on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram,...

I've heard a ton of negative opinion on PHP, which I've never used, so much that if what I've heard is true I wonder why anyone would use it. I asked on dev.to whether there are any real good design ideas going into PHP and got 5 responders. They were all to the effect of "PHP is great because PHP can make websites". I think that says something about the number of good design ideas going into PHP. I'm uncomfortable forming a strong opinion on a language I've never used, but I've never seen signs this bad.18

It was five years ago tomorrow when Greta predicted the end of the world. Enjoy your last day on Earth today. ;-) We are at the point of no return.
She deleted her tweet. Wonder why?

So the project I work on basically has to talk to a 3rd party plugin, through a 3rd party framework. The 3rd party plugin is a black box. This conversation happened:
Software guy: so we aren't sure what is breaking the thing. It's either us or the plugin, but it's probably both.
Systems guy: well then if we aren't sure then why are we writing an issue for it.
SWG: because we aren't sure but we know we are doing at least something that contributes. We read int X from a table and put it into a float. X doesn't perfectly represent in a float. It comes out X.0001. Then they take it and when it comes back it comes back as Y.0001. We cram it into an int so it becomes Y, we compare it to X which is really X.0001 and it comes back invalid.
SG: well as long as we are sending them the right number . . .
SWG: but we aren't sending them the right number. They are expecting X not X.0001. Then they send us back Y.0001 but it should be X so it's wrong.
SG: so they're giving us the wrong return value.
SWG: yes, but because we're giving them the wrong number.
SG: well not exactly . . .
SWG: yes exactly. It is off by .0001 because of floating point math.
SG: well . . .
Me: look it doesn't matter how it's breaking. But it IS broken. Which is why we're filling out the damn problem report. THEY ARE EDITABLE. We talked to the customer and gave them the risk assessment. They don't care. It happens rarely any way.
SG: then can we lower the severity?
Me: no. Severity doesn't relate to risk. That is a whole different process. Severity assumes it has already happened. It's a a high severity.
SG: but the metrics.
Me: WE GIVE THE METRICS TO THE CUSTOMER. WE TALKED TO THE CUSTOMER. THEY DON'T GIVE A SHIT.
And that was how I spent Wednesday wondering how a level 4 lead systems engineer got his job. How many push ups did he do? What kind of juice did he drink?2 -
Sometimes I start to wonder, if people even read what I answer them in tickets... Why bother when you can just be above that all and just repeat your previous points?
When working somewhere, with destinct departments, its understandable that you send them a ticket, they evaluate that and you can figure something out together. The issue arrises, when the other person across the ticket does not seem to wanna acknowledge the information you provide.
I want a simple automation in Jira with webhooks, why is it so hard to read the docs I send and acknowledge it. It seems like they try to ignore what I am saying and just keep their once formed opinion.
It just makes me mad, when they don't even wanna talk about it in person/via a Meeting3 -
My dad was using notepad to edit some HTML for his website. I downloaded Visual Studio Code and he likes it SO MUCH MORE. (I wonder why....).
Kinda happy I could help him with it. He is pretty good at coding but just hasn't done it in a while (not his trade) so he doesn't know all the new tools and such.3 -
Me: We need to have a developer on our core product
*We fork our core product from a private repo for new projects
Management: No.
Me: But imma die 5years early from stress and anger overdose of fixing the same problems over and over again in every new project we do and still hit deadlines which didn't account for them when we could fix them once and maintain our core product
Management: everything is fine. Lalalalalala
Me: *wonder why every senior dev has left in last few years*1 -
StackOverflow veterans: "this is an elitist meritocracy, so play by the rules to earn reputation and practice the same gatekeeping behavior that we have established for years." Then they wonder why mostly white male US academic guys keep engaging in their community.
Yes, it's "stackoverflow again".
Another one of those sites you can't really avoid as a dev, too good to ignore, to bad not to get upset about. Maybe also a mirror of antisocial patterns still prevalent in society and especially in the developer industry.11 -
Swagger superposition: the generated server now works but the local hosted editor does not connect. I look at one screen and wonder: "Why does this work?" and then at my other screen (same code, same port) and think "Why DOESN'T this work?"

why is every auth provider utter and complete shit?
why are docs and tutorials that try to teach auth so complete shit?

Did you know that "Bazmd" is an Indian name? I use it because it's an abbreviation of my real name. (Yep! Dr Baz).
It's just a coincidence, I used to wonder why algorithms would infer that I was Indian.
The algorithm: "Here I am with a brain the size of a planet and they ask me to pick up a piece of paper. Call that job satisfaction? I don't.".9 -
Have you ever seen a tree data structure implementation in any code base?
I wonder why recruiters are so desperately asking how to invert binary trees in my coding interviews🥴4 -
We're hiring managers and engineers at a remote site, and the recruiter is setting up calls with skype for business. To use this-- even the web version, I have to run windows, so I had to dust off my windows VM to join. I fire up the VM, called "plague" in virsh, and...
Boom! An hour of updates and a half dozen reboots! And people wonder why windows is dying.11 -

I often wonder why JS is the only language that has the native support from browsers and native built in DOM apis?
The world has come up to a saturation point for so many techs:
- if a software is needed to be created for mobile, it must go through 1 layer of java (aka JVM) or objective C (i guess? for ios) before being understood by the CPU
- if a software is needed to be run via browser( which itself is made to run on jvm, objective c or machine language), it must go through one layer of js interpretters before being understood by the CPU
all the OS are made on C but the application and application platforms are made on specific languages. I wonder why can't there be a single application platform, if all of them(browser, JVM,objective C and whatever .exe apps run on) are doing the same thing and are equally mature to handle every usecase?13 -
How often does this happen to you?
Hmm I need to install the nodemon package, ok so I enter:
npm install -g nodemon
Result:
npm WARN
npm WARN
npm ERR
npm ERR
npm ERR....
I then wonder why would it not work??? Then after looking at the errors I realise ohh:
sudo npm install -g nodemon
This literally happens to me almost every single time I install a package.8 -
Why did we move away from CLIs?
I wonder if there's been any research into wether memorising keywords is more of a load than remembering where to point and click. But to be fair, once the foundations are there, GUIs can be pretty intuitive.
I'm not sure what I'm talking about anymore.11 -
That moment I wonder why I haven't wrote any rant for a long time and suddenly realized that it's because I've been coding only about a couple hours a week for the last months.
Basically, I finished all my computer related class and all that is left to finish (before I can get my diploma) are basic courses like philosophy and literature (which at least are interesting).
Now pretty much every day I wake up and I crave to code but I just don't have time to 😐 -
I still wonder which one is better to fully learn/understand. I know to code something in both, I know about the different way of how they handle memory and I know about some of their use-cases, but then again... this stupid question still pops out:
C or C++ and why?2 -
Putting aside my ordinary moral horror for a moment I'd like to comment on rust.
I have never seen a language that seems to have very limited use that so many people make a point of pointing out their use of so proudly and I have to wonder why.24 -

Seriously. A website that runs *exclusively* on IE?? What the fuck.3 -
What are your thoughts about Symfony VS Laravel?
I prefer Laravel. It is much simpler than Symfony but most enterprises are using Symfony. However Laravel is keeping up also (gaining a lot of traction and users).
Laravel = Symfony on Steroids
I wonder why so many people prefer Laravel?
Who's a hardcore Symfony user here? I experienced using both but I prefer Laravel.
Right now I'm studying NodeJS, Express, Angular as it is more popular than Symfony. Also most requiremetns in job posting nowadays.6 -
In your opinion, why buy a mac instead using Linux?
I wonder what are the advantages of Mac versus Linux8 -
I wonder why devs care so much about which programming language will die soon, so they keeping jumping from one language to another every year, while what I think is you will die before the language or you will be old by then and writing one line of code will be nightmare for you. Stop jumping languages jut get shit done.4

So another story of our stupid trainee, this fucker talks to a customer while i was comming back from my lunch break. He aks me if i can tell him how to fix the problem of the customer. I'm starting to get sick of working with handed over projects that previous devs think they are masters of programming and their code is nothing but pure chaos ....
I'm given a project written in Java & Swift, API class is initiated a million times in same view, has access to android context, custom font is applied by creating custom text view instead of applying customization in styles file ....
Still haven't yet looked into iOS code but I'm not expecting much ...
Sometimes I wonder why I chose working with code4 -

I wonder why are there so little women in Engineering/IT?
The pay's good, the treatment(compared to how men are treated) is not bad compared to what I hear from friends in other spheres, and it's not like we're dumber than men.

Turns out that stuff you commit and remove in later commits stays in git history and is searchable.
That, kids, is why you either squash your commits or just don't put swears in your debug code.
Especially if you have literally dozens of colleagues on the same codebase.
And you work in a large organisation where this sort of thing is frowned upon.
The crime was months ago, I wonder what the statute of limitations is on that.
And yes, in the years-long history of the codebase it's JUST me that's used any of the big three.3 -

I often wonder if tech recruiters realize we are evaluating them and their “opportunities” just as much as they will be evaluating us if they consider us at all. When recruiters send me opportunities and then never follow up, even with a “sorry, you weren’t selected”, when I submit my application and résumé, they’d better not be wondering why I don’t apply to anything else they send me.4

Tried to install gitlab on my RPi3. Not gonna try this again. Didn't really get it running and lost quite some time installing, configuring and removing it.
Afterwards someone told me that I should have at least 3.5Gb of ram, if I want to selfhost it, for a goodish user experience. Might have been the reason why thay was so awful, but holy fuck, that's a lot of memory. I wonder if that's RoR's fault or simply because gitlab is a such huge software 🤔
I'll try to install gitgud tomorrow and see how that goes 🙏8 -

During my recent interview I was explaining what I liked about the company, going in to detail about how I respected the CIO as he, as a software engineer, ran his ops teams like he runs a development team.
When I got home I realized my story wasn't about the CIO of the company but about Benjamin Treynor Sloss, VP Google Engineering, founder of Google SRE.

So there is this thing called chirp.io which allows you to transmit data via ultrasonic sound. No special hardware needed. Only a mic and a speaker. I wonder why this isnt used in smart watches instead of BLE as it requires even less power. Probably because sound is less penetrating than radio waves??!5

Why the fuck do we have to use an antivirus that is so intrusive that it has so far wasted my time every day, because it thinks that blocking up random ports is okay. Its a fucking lottery every time I turn on the laptop. I wonder if its going to block port 3306 or 4200 tomorrow...5

I can't connect the fucking safari debugger to the fucking iPad.
It opens the window and closes it after a few seconds, or sometimes (1 time out of 20) it just works, without no fucking reason.
And you should wonder "why are you asking for help here, that's not the fucking StackOverflow" the problem is that I don't know where else to ask. The next step will be resurrect Steve Jobs and just ask him why10 -
So, my coworker hibernates his laptop, connects phone to USB and wonder why the phone won't charge...6

Don't know why people are so against java. Can anyone of you please care to point me to an enterprise programming language which exposes like 100 services over http and still has a maintainable codebase. I always wonder with frameworks like spring, etc java works alright on multiple cores. Are there any other good enterprise languages?6

/devrantUser$ wine /home/.wine/drive_c/users/devrantUser/Desktop/post_rant.exe []

Me: Why do we do this this time consuming, low value thing?
My tech lead: Because if we don't, a box becomes red on some executive report.
Me: Why is this deadline so important? It's not customer facing or any kind of critical bug/vulnerability?
My tech lead: Because it was a company wide mandate, and we'll show up on some executive report if we're late.
Me: *angry dev noises*
They must dole out lashings to the tech leads and the directors any time we fail to meet some completely arbitrary demand. The act like the world is going to end any time we get too close to a deadline 🤦♂️
Makes no sense that they then turn around and worship the ground senior leadership walks on. I wonder if it's some weird form of stockholm syndrome.5 -
@AleCx04 I think you are a fat person. People hate what they cannot become. You cannot become thin. Thus you hate children and wonder why anyone would like girls.

Ever look through at database and see a default constraint prefixed with DF_ and, for a split second, wonder why SQL needs a divine focus?2

Why must pixel perfect scaling be so fucking hard... It all works perfectly but I'm limited to a max of 540p for the games camera view but as soon as you drop your resolution bellow 1080p you get stuck with 300p or lower... Ughhhhhhhh
Why did I choose to do pixel art... Wonder if converting everything to vectors would help, wonder is smashing my head into a fucking wall would help... -
Developers (and students in general, but specially informatics students 😛) should be the only people that wonder why the thing they did work AND why it doesn't work

Honest question: What do managers do in your company?
- Do they still code?
- How many direct reports do they have?
- Are they in charge of the sprint/backlog grooming?
- How frequently do they interact with their direct reports?
- And what's the subject of these interactions?
- what do they do outside of that time?
In my company, managers have 2-5 direct reports, do not code, and mostly talk about career development for 1 hour every other week with their reports. I'm not sure what they do outside of these few hours every week, despite asking multiple times.7 -
I try to log in via SSH to a remote server. In the beginning all is well. It asks for my password, so I enter the password. Next thing: connection closed by the remote server.
So I wonder what the problem might be... I guess that perhaps I forgot to specify the username. Indeed when I try the 2nd time with my user name added in front of the host name - it works just fine.
But why is there no error message? Why not tell the user what's wrong? "User name is required". Can't be that hard?
Sometimes I see stuff and it just blows my mind why on Earth some things function so poorly. SSH exists for dozens of years yet the error message is not there -> it's guessing time.11 -
People need respect other people’s time, you set up a meeting 2 minutes before and you wonder why I am not attending 🤦🏿

I've had it with startup marketing sites. All those landing pages look exactly the same, they do a poor job in communicating what the product does and why I would want to use it, and their marketing videos have the same irritating, empty, hollow, feel-good tune that makes me wonder if there's a single company that does the marketing for all those startups.2

When u shit do u put toilet paper on the water in the middle? I do it my whole life. If i dont put it then the shit splashes and water comes straight into my asshole (inside literally) and makes my rectum wet. Thats why putting toilet paper slows down the inertia of shit fall according to the laws of physics i studied in college. Never thought learning something in school was gonna be useful but only for shitting big shits. No wonder why degree is worth less than a shit and no one cares about it8

I still wonder why there's this "a man writes more optimised code than compiler" stuff. Why?
Compiler is automated work, in the worst case it should be able to create multiple e.g. asms and compare the time, right? You can dump all instructions into compiler, it should be able to choose the right one even if it would compile whole days, right? You can't be possibly serious with such a statement.
No "time" arguments, please.2 -
"What the f, why isn't this Type or expression recognized?!" you think as you are writing your code.. and then you realize you're not inside a function.
I wonder how many times this has happened.2 -
Writing a x-platform cli tool in Go designed to be an infinite REPL until EOF if no arguments are passed. Code works great on Linux and Mac as-is but not on Windows. On Windows it only works at all if args are passed.
WHY.
And people wonder why I don't like Windows. It's a shame my userbase has so many tech-saavy Windows users. If not for them I'd cut that git branch off the repo in a heartbeat. -
I spent last week trying to figure out estimates about how much time we'll spend in this quarter's project - like, 3 days on the schema, 4 days on the API, 5 days on the GUI etc. Why does management think that each part of the project is separate? Oh I forgot, they're management. I wonder how much work I could've done if management wasn't so obsessed in knowing metadata about the project instead of doing the project itself 🤔2

Those times when something just won't work and you have no idea why, and how to fix it and hours or even days passed without any progress and you wonder if you even deserve to eat dinner...

I've fallen asleep while trying to finish this series so many times that I must've changed the "Trending now" Netflix's listing for the whole country.
I wonder why do I always wake up right when the last episode ends, though... -
When the agency's Head of Digital doesn't know their Python from their PHP (I can only assume beginning with P is the main culprit).
And you wonder why your project is over budget, out of time and everyone is pissed...? -
Do you ever have those moments where you just sit and wonder how you ever got the job you have in the first place?
Just spent the last 2 hours trying to figure out why I couldn't access my config to get the keys I needed. Turns out I was trying to access my "congif" and my brain couldn't see the difference.
Don't know if I'm dyslexic or stupid 😂 -
Microsoft? what a fucking joke
I do /remotelogout in skype. Next thing you know you can’t relogin with skype for WP. It says “*login successful, but we can’t log you in right now*”. Peace of shit.
On Android works with no problems, I wonder why WP has 0,00000000NULL% market share. -
When I was a kid, I used to wonder why doesn't the video tab on Google search open a YouTube search...

Why the fuck would Google promote Jetpack Compose as a stable toolset when it doesn't even support a basic feature such as a scrollbar.
A. Fucking. Scrollbar.
LazyColumn can't even come close to being as powerful as Recyclerview.
Here's an idea, before launching something and touting it as something usable, and encouraging people to drop the old, battle tested tool for the new shiny one, how about you make sure the new doesn't lack features present in the old one?
Seems logical, right?
Methinks somebody was just looking for a promotion because, clearly, Jetpack Compose is a half-baked product.
Now, developers will have to suffer because project managers will read about the new framework and ask devs to use it, then wonder why the app is suffering.2 -
I installed MS visual studio on my company's machine a year back and never really used it. In discussion with a colleague, he said that I shouldn't have the software because our company doesn't have license for it. I wonder why Microsoft would let me download it in the first place.6

If you’re an employee on-call over a weekend (specifically last weekend, new years) do you put it on your timesheet? What if nobody calls though? 16 hours of pay..?
Just asking because I was on call last weekend and then they got pissed I wouldn’t work again this weekend. I just wonder if they forgot or something?
Our product literally has been on fire, practically melting down, for a few years now apparently so that is why I am asking here.12 -
Gotta love the Phone guys. Mislabeled their Drops 😩. Had a follow up ticket for junction box replacement. A 2 min jobs took an extra 20 mins all due to phone guys putting the incorrect connector on their wires. Why put a Data Connector on a Phone wire. No wonder the printer wasn't getting the correct IP🤷♂️🤦♂️3

XCode is so terrible. I have to force quit it several times a day in so many use cases. I wonder why Apple cares so little about us developers. I dream with the day they’ll make XCode a good IDE. Everytime I run maps on the simulator my CPU goes to 700% and every time I checkout a branch, the thing hangs there so I have to forcf quit it 😠😫

MySejahtera is not a good appliaction at all! They just use Sqlite or Shared Preferences in the app for keeping the data local. (Just local?) As soon as you clear cache or data, The user no longer exist! Like wtf ?
So I decompile the app and review the source code, the code is not even properly obfuscated(That's why I can read it). There's a part of the code on a for loop went
```
for (int i = 3; i < array.length(); i++)
{
for (int j = 2; i > array.length() *2; j ++ )
{
onScan();
}
}
```
Which is unacceptable!
First , why nested for loops?
Second, instead of declare 'array.length()' multiple times why not declared it global for once?
No wonder the initial state of the app is buggy as hell.8 -
Why... why they have to be like that?
https://github.com/micro/micro/... was reported 11 days ago, I have this issue with the dashboard inside docker than registers no services nor clients, a shame because this enables testing and that comes handy specially if you have never ever done micro-services.
Despite linking to a minimal example that reproduces the issue I have in my project I'm not getting any support from the developers of Go Micro other than "use the latest Docker image, it shouldn't panic", sadly others give it a try too but their directions won't fix the problem.
So this makes me wonder, after 11 days and a minimal reproducible example provided from day one, why no developer have offered any hint of what I'm doing wrong? they know their software, it should be easier for them to spot why the bloody dashboard is not working as it should.7 -
The fact that it sometimes makes me wonder "Why am I learning this? This feature seems better implemented in newLISP." when I am learning a new programming language.

I kinda wonder why so few server frameworks have actually implemented the FastCGI spec, instead of running their own weaker HTTP server that needs to be put behind something like nginx for production anyways.

When you change some code which perfectly worked out of boredom. You realise it still works (or at least it looks like it does). You begin to wonder why. You never find out.3

I don't get it, it's interpreted, why you creating a new structure for every single fucking transformation instead of transducing them transforms into a single one and running it ONCE?
no wonder this shit's heavy3 -
So this happens way too often;
you make some changes in your code and open your testing environment and expect to see results, but you don't. You wonder why, did I mess something up? everything seems to be correct?
aaand then you glimpse for a second at the url and realise you have the staging environment page up.. -

Thanks monkey patching, now I remember why I hate Ruby so much.
Compare https://github.com/ruby/ruby/... with https://github.com/rightscale/...
I wonder how the fuck it even works. Also I'm amazed by countless hours of labour wasted digging through this pile of shit. (BTW thanks JetBrains for making it a bit less miserable)
Oh, and someone did monkeypatch Object#try! (which is also a monkeypatch by active_support) and then replaced all `#try` calls to `#try!`. WHY.JPG. Also how the fuck did it pass code review?! -
Just noticed (not sure why it took me this long to check) an API is available (duh).
Wonder how many recruiter data harvesters are listening right now 🤑 -
There's a command named "SaveNew..." and "Create...". I wonder what is different between them. I asked my colleague but his answer wasn't clear for me. Then I take an examination by myself.
After my examination, I realized that "SaveNew..." is just a normal save command that save an existing object. So why they add "NEW" in command name? -
wonder if all those years ago they realized what I meant by android when I called them an android and i wonder why the hell one of the copies of my dad talked about 'all those years ago'
maybe its to reinforce the idea that if I go crazy they can't get persecute me for not being a fucked up asshole like they are.5 -
Why can't some people just go to a quiet environment or use the damn mute button when they are not speaking over Skype?
Honestly, i wonder what some people do while a Skype meeting. According to the sounds they make either chewing on their mic or siting next to a highway. One guy today was taking out his goddamn dishes out of the diswasher udring the meeting, without muting himself. Other people appearently have a mic from the mid 1990's and using 56k modem. MY EARS HURT1
