I was explaining to my mom how my company is in need of developers and how we'll need more of them in the future - to which she replied:
"oh... what are you going to do? You can't live without a job!"
- erm? What?
"Well - you're not smart like those guys. You'll probably get fired now."
- Wtf mom!? I'm a friggin lead dev and i've been a developer for like 10 years now!? 😳
*silence* "is that what you've been doing? I thought you just kept clicking on stuff"11 -
So this happened around 3 years ago in college.
Some software was missing on a random PC in college, so the professor asked this girl, to copy it to that PC since its the only one the setup file.
The solutions are many here, but what this girl did made me and 2 others ragequit the room.
She right clicked copy, unplugged the mouse, plugged in the other PC and tried clicking paste.
I facepalmed so hard, I almost broke my nose that day.16 -
Today I discovered that we have a CSV export button for an order transaction system, on a page which is completely disconnected from the rest of the website.
It is only being called by an internal server, used by our Data department.
They run selenium to click the button.
Then they import the CSV into a database.
That database is accessed by an admin panel.
That admin panel has an excel export button.
Which is clicked by our CFO. But he got bored of clicking, so he uses IFTTT to schedule a download of the XLS and import it in Google Sheets.
That sheet uses a Salesforce data connector.
Marketing then sends email campaigns based on that Salesforce data...
😒11 -

That's not how you ask google a question.
You're clicking the wrong way.
You click like an idiot.
Why are you scrolling like that? do you hate moving down the page so mutch it makes you scroll like that?
Why am i forced to sit through this?
When will this end?13 -

One problem: we don't have a forgot password button in our app.9 -

I laughed at how in the movies hacking is portrayed as some person clicking a lot buttons really quickly in a very flashy UI. There's a picture of America and sometimes there's a 3d model rotating for no good reason or a bunch of random numbers floating across the screen. They use random hacking related terms like: backdoor, DDoS...etc in their sentences.
At least they did their research...15 -

My great uncle came over this weekend, and he is a big Apple fan though he owns a little hp. He asked me if I knew windows ten, to which I said yes, and then said he had a problem. His internet wouldn't connect. I came to his laptop, and he already had the wifi menu up, which said in big letters "Your WiFi is turned off." So I said to him "Your WiFi is turned off." He proclaimed his disdain for "the software" and asked if I could fix it. Instead of clicking the very obvious button that took maybe 10% of his screen, I opened command prompt as admin and entered "netsh interface show interface" followed by "netsh interface set interface Wi-Fi enabled"
I followed it up by saying I fixed a problem with his wireless card and that he should be able to use the large wifi button that appears when he opens the menu to turn it off and on again5 -

This morning I couldn't delete any of my projects and my workspace kept refreshing. I was going mad about it. Then I looked at my keyboard and realized I was clicking F5 instead of Delete. I'm going to get a coffee. Be right back.3

Holy shit, I never thought I would see the day that Microsoft makes me even more disappointed, but this is a NEW low.
The windows 11 email client is being deprecated, and they automatically "upgrade" you to the new outlook.
THERE'S ADS. THERE'S ADVERTISEMENTS IN OUTLOOK. WHAT THE FUCK. IF YOU CLICK THIS, IT JUST OPENS THE AD IN A BROWSER. IT'S IN MY EMAIL LIST, THEY ARE ACTIVELY TRYING TO TRICK YOU INTO CLICKING IT.
This is crappy free Chinese mobile game ad level of scummy. I never fucking thought they would honestly stoop so low as to make misleading ads a default part of their operating system. But here it is, in an app installed by default, developed in-house by Microsoft. Actually astounding and appalling.34 -

Just wanted to share stuff. It's my first time.
<backstory>
I'm a c# dev, recently got excited about neural networks and stuff. I have a gf who studies biology
</backstory>
So i've noticed yesterday what my gf is doing for her science stuff. She has an image taken through a microscope of some erytrocytes and shit. And she's clicking on those tiny fuckers to count them. There are like almost a hundred of those things in an image and she has a butload of those images.
I was like "what the fuck? Don't you have an app that counts the stuff for you or something?"
And there is none. Or at least i wasn't able to find one. That's bullshit. My inner programmer screams with hate for boring repetitive tasks.
So i guess i'm going to write a neural network to count similar stuff in an image.32 -
Yes, yes, you have waited long for it.

Once, at school, last year, we had to present a C# project that, upon clicking a button, took words from a .txt file and showed them in an alphabetical listBox...
Since the file they gave us was so long that we had to wait a minute or so to get the listBox full, I implemented a progressBar which popped up on the button, and upon clicking it, the progressBar advanced for every word it loaded, until, upon finishing, it would have disappear leaving again the button, and the listBox would have been loaded.
Apparently, this choice alone – even if it had next to nothing to do with the exercise – was enough to give me a solid 9 out of 10, because our professors never explained us about progressBars and I used that completely on my own... I tend to do things like this in class, where I explore what my tools could give me.
So long story short, I ended up having the best vote in class for that, and I was so happy and motivated :D
Moral of the story: if you can, always try to learn something new about your tools and your programming language, on your own, because apparently it gives you advantage towards others, at least in school. Or even if you're not in school, it could still be something cool to learn that might be helpful in the future, for your projects or your job's projects.
The more you know, the better!9 -

If you want to learn about bad UX design, look at every GDPR-compliant cookie alert on websites. The dialogues generally follow this pattern:
* Highlighting "Accept all" instead of "Reject" to bait you into habit-clicking.
* After clicking "Reject", you'll be redirected to an infinite list of usages. There is never a "deselect all" option. You need to opt-out everything manually.
* Sliders use some ambiguous coloring scheme without labels, which means you never know if you turned it on or off.
* Instead of "Reject", there is an "Other options" button. Clicking it redirects to a EULA document, with at the end... no other options.
Everything looks compliant, but they are still boobietrapping everything so you just wouldn't be able to opt out. Fucking data-vendoring assholes.17 -
Can you add a feature so we can download images that our customers have uploaded?
Yeah sure I can see that being a really handy feature, but until I have the time to add a button would you try right clicking on the picture and using the option "Save image...." 🤔4 -
My University distributes all worksheets over an online system. To access the files one has to download them each time first. So to get rid of all this annoying clicking in the browser, I just programmed a service, which logs onto the website ,crawls trough every folder, searches for new files and downloads them if they do not exist on my computer. Kind of proud as this is pretty much the first really useful program I developed lol8

FUCK THE RECRUITERS WHO ASK US TO MAKE AN ENTIRE PROJECT AS A CODE TEST.
Oh you need to scrape this website and then store the data in some DB. Apply sentimental analysis on the data set. On the UI, the user should be able to search the fields that were scraped from the website. Upon clicking it should consume a REST API which you have to create as well. Oh and also deploy it somewhere... Oh I almost forgot, make the UI look good. If you could submit it in one week, we will move towards further rounds if we find you fit enough.
YOU KNOW WHAT, FUCK YOU!
I can apply to 10 others companies in one week and get hired in half the effort than making this whole project for you which you are going to use it on your website YOU SADIST MOTHERFUCK

Hell is accidentally clicking on, instead of copying, an email URL and having to wait forty years for some email program you didn't even know existed to rise from its slumber like some Lovecraftian ancient god, meanwhile the fans on your laptop are preparing for takeoff and you stare dead-eyed as the rainbow spirals, spirals, spirals. you wait and suffer this cosmic karma. days pass. “just a few more seconds” you slur. your laptop freezes and the concept of time is no longer comprehensible. your family and friends forget your name and you fade from existence.2

Apple iPhone testing without being on the app store is so annoying, I had to sign up some people to test the app I've been working on and had issues on my end, it really is this whole security bullshit, really it isn't needed.
I couldn't get the team provisional certificate thing to show up because when I clicked the account the team certificate settings would disappear, only after right clicking and hitting help then clicking the team while it was selected could I go to the right window.
I don't see why it's so damn hard to do this crap.
Yet with Android, it's so easy.
I really have issues with the testing for this iPhone app, I went through so many different ways to try and get it to work.
Anyways all done, crashlytics is an awesome testing tool if you can get around that small issue I had.4 -

Skipped my lectures at university just to get my new Dell laptop at home.
Here is my experience of dell account portal:
There is a 50-50 chance that your order will appear in the list of orders. It has it's own mind, sometimes it will appear, sometimes it will say it has found no orders.
Now if somehow you do see the order in the list, there is a 50-50 chance that clicking on the order number will actually show you the correct order. Most of the time it will take you to a completely different order, where you can see the name, address and other personal details of a person that you don't know. THANKS DELL!
Now if somehow clicking on the order number takes you to the right order details page, there is a 50-50 chance that there will be no courier information, it will be blank without any information. Sometimes it will show the tracking number, but no courier details.
Right, now let's say that I don't give a fuck about any of these. I stayed home, skipping my lecture, just so that I can get my laptop. They promised me that they will deliver it today and I trust them 🙂
BUT YOU MOTHERFUCKER, not only that they will not deliver it today, they haven't even bothered to give me a call and say that they won't be delivering it today. YOU PIECE OF HORSESHIT, I skipped my fucking lectures for you. Now I have to skip my lectures for another day, just to get my GODDAMN laptop.
FUCK YOU DELL, DIE IN HELL!9 -
This rant goes to my best friend.
Fuck you!
You do not fucking argue with people for doing what they like! So what if I want to use linux? What fucking problem does that make? Am I now a hacker fanboy for wanting to use a terminal instead of fucking pointing and clicking on shit like a monkey? Am I not allowed to want my privacy and free open-source? What? I shouldn't browse internet without getting my personal info stolen? Oh, they're tracking criminals? Then why don't you install a camera in your fucking living room so you can help them out? And don't fucking get me started on why I don't want to use Windows 10.
Fuck fucking fuck fuck. I know he's a good friend but this fucking shit gets my blood boiling.8 -
It's a weird feeling when you find yourself wondering why the button is not responding, only to realize you've been clicking on the design mockup and not the actual web app you're making...

I was working on a site just moments ago and everything was fine. Then I move my laptop from my living room to my bedroom and on refreshing the page everything seems broken! Disorganized cards, and everything looks 10x bigger. I panic because I was supposed to deploy it on Thursday and I was just doing some final touches and angular has given me one hell of a time. I fucking rolled back all my commits to yesterday and cleared chromes chrome's cache....still nothing works. Then I realized there's a new button on my address tab and on clicking it is showed I had (accidentally) zoomed in by a fucking 175% when moving the laptop *facepalm*. On resetting it everything was ok. Now I have lost all of today's commits and my chrome cache. One box of tic-tacs down and I still can't overcome my rage... So I wrote this rant 😠😩😩
I need a stress ball😩😩7 -
Clicking "share" on directory in Windows Explorer, digging through config panel, fidgeting with network discovery options, toggling password protection, digging through account management, jumping over a chair 3 times to channel my inner Bill Gates, checking directory permissions, sacrificing 7 virgin unicorns, go into lusrmgr.msc, curse various gods, install CIFS1.0 protocol, reboot computer, disable encryption, checking registry, trying to summon Steve Ballmer using the blood of a bald goat and sweat-scented candles... 5 hours.
Install Ubuntu on spare SSD, mount Windows NTFS drive, start SMB daemon and set up samba users... 15 minutes.12 -

After few while one girl sat on that pc tried to click on the icons but failed she was clicking the mouse hard that actually made me laugh and finally left off thinking that the pc is broken .
After few days turns out they called up an it guy for repairing that pc but even he failed at recognizing that prank and formatted pc think its some kind of virus or something.3 -

Tldr; my "this is not bug, its a feature" moment actually turned my bug into a feature.
Today we were presenting a project which has imposible deadline. I am developing this small project alone (which is probably good). I implemented core features first but I know project still have bugs and a lot of tech debts. Another friend started to presenting our demo and a wild bug appeared as expected. He was adding rows to a table. To add a new you gotta open new modal by clicking + button and fill the form. One of the fields had a bug. When you add row by clicking Ok button, the value of the field stayed there after you open modal again. So its basically a state problem in React. I forgot to clear previous state of modal. When they see that and my friend said "oh we got a bug there". Then I enabled my mic and said "thats not a bug, thats a feature. I didn't want to enter that field again and again when I adding multiple rows and made it persistent." and you know what? They liked the idea! They requested to add that bug to two more fields. I was just joking and my "this is not bug, its a feature" moment actually turned my bug into a feature. Instead of fixing it, I'm creating more of this bug. LOL!5 -
Just stumbled across this gem last night. You guys know how biggest online games site in my country (also backed up by largest ISP) handles reset password requests?
After clicking "Forgot password", it asks you to login to Gmail (cause everyone is assumed to have and use one, right?) and then opens "New Email" window prefilled with some template data which you're expected to finish (in screenshot below).
And I just wanted to play some Ludo with my friends.. 🙄🙈2 -
After three hours of emailing with a customer I can confirm that programmers are the worst customers.
Customer: We've found a bug in the system... <details>
Me: Thank you for letting us know, a ticket has been created and the issue is most likely to be fixed in the next release.
Customer: Please grant me UPDATE privileges in the live(!) database so I can fix it myself
Me: I cannot allow that. You have to use the client software for maintaining your data.
Customer: No, I don't want to spend my day clicking. I want to write queries.
We didn't reply to the last one yet...
If we give him access, then I would charge them at least 3x for fixing issues caused by him.1 -
It's sad. When developers create the application and ONLY know how to lunch it by clicking that green button in the IDE, having no clue how to package and launch it properly...
it makes me sad.
Now I'm supposed to dockerize an application no one knows how to launch outside the IDE.15 -

Online applications are so much worse than the classic snail mail ones, because some companies just don't seem to give a single fuck about the quality of their application application (hehe).
This results in such joyous things like:
• "Allowed file types: doc, docx, pdf, jpg, zip"
• "Max filesize 3mb"
• "One of your files does not meet the requirements" (doesn't tell you which)
• "Upload timed out, please try again"
• 403 forbidden
• "Your account does not have the necessary permissions to upload more than 4 files at once"
• clicking the submit button leads to a 404
• "Please explain why you want to work for us." 500 character limit
• Google forms2 -

Tldr: hilariois scam website is hilarious
Today I saw a website that was obviously a scam, but it was quite hilarious: it said you could download an ebook and they tried to trick the user into clicking the fake download links. It was a textbook for engineering and at the botom of the page they had those fake user comments that encouraged people to du those things you are asked for after clicking the wrong download button (like entering your bank info). They described how their friends couldn't believe what an awesome book they got for free and so on and that they really loved reading it. Reading an engineering textbook. Also, and that made me lol quite hard: they discribed the condition of the book as "used with a few water marks". A fucking pdf with water marks...3 -

Oh wow good for you, Mr. Manager! And what, praytell, does the tool require?

Amazing, Mr. Manager. So you violated our security practices AND want to pocket even MORE of our budget?
Kindly fuck right off and start suggesting things instead of making people embarrass you into stoping your fight for your tool (has happened on more than one occassion).3 -

So we've been working with a VM at a university course I'm taking during semester break. Keyboard layout was QWERTY instead of QWERTZ, and I'm not used to the first layout, but no problem, I can fix that.
Or so I thought.
So I spend nearly half an hour trying to configure the VM to use the desired layout without altering the Ubuntu instance that much - only to then suddenly discover a small USA flag in the corner of the panel bar which could be changed by clicking once to the German flag.
This also changed the keyboard layout instantly.
So, yay, I guess. D:5 -

it bloody adds a "very" for every 5 clicks and calls an API to send you an email for every 5 clicks:
Thanks for very {n times very} much wanting {feature name}
11 clicks = 3 emails with very, very very and very very very
Yep, I am patient now, especially if I get my hands on you...3 -
Well, this is a rant about devRant! Sorry.
I like devRant, especially when my internet connection is fast. But when it is not, it is very annoying to wait for a rant to load whenever I click [read more]. I found myself skipping interesting rants that I want to read just coz I don't wanna be waiting doing nothing during the loading screen!
Suggestions for how to improve this:
- Just like facebook and devRant web app, Increase the limit of the text that loaded when loading the rants feed. Not all of it has to be visible in the feed, but when clicking read more, show the rest so I can continue reading the rant while the comments are loaded.
- If not, then like youtube, load the whole rant first from the server when clicking read more before loading the comments.
- (Even for short rants) when clicking on a rant, show the loaded text while fetching the rest of the rant. This way I can at least click the rant, and continue reading till the rest of it (or comments) is loaded.6 -
What is wrong with Java CLI applications? Is it really necessary to output a billion lines consisting of INFO an WARN messages?
If I work some longer with beeline I turn into a Java application myself.
INFO: Writing rant
INFO: Clicking submit
WARN: Heart rate too high
ERR!: SHUT THE FUCK UP JAVA!10 -
Is it just me or do GIFs never load? Everytime I'm excited clicking on an GIF but I end up waiting an infinite long time and then have to click away the post...10
-
When I use devRant in the browser, want to post a comment and click right next to the post button accidently, the comment text field thingy is empty after re-clicking the 'add comment' button. Annoying as hell when you just wrote a 800 character comment! @dfox @trogus5

I took a Computer ethics class some time ago, and at some point, we talked about honesty in Computer Science.
There was one thing that bothered me that we never had the chance to touch on, but how do I know that the button I'm clicking is doing what I want it to do?
I mean seriously there is really nothing that is stopping someone from making fake buttons that pretend to do what they say they are doing. I might be uninstalling something on my computer, but can I "really" trust that the software was "completely" removed?
As a developer I always strive for honesty, but that doesn't mean other people are.
How do you guys deal with this?13 -
True story, honest to god.
Developed a state or the art SOA web app. Front end communicates with backend through API.
Client meeting, this guy looks me right in the eyes and blurts out : « why does the submit button get disabled after first click ? Clicking it a few times gets my request high priority »
I folded back my laptop and left the meeting without saying a word. Pretty sure I’m getting fired tomorrow.5 -
My job sends out emails with things like "You won a prize!" In the subject line with embarrassingly vague reasons to click the links in the email. If you do, the links take you to a site where they slap your wrists for clicking an unknown link and teach you about the dangers of phishing.
It's fake spam. Ironically enough, though, it's the ONLY spam I ever get. It's more annoying than real spam because it never gets blocked by the system like an actual phishing attack would...
It is driving me crazy having to delete these stupid messages every day and they're clogging up my otherwise clean inbox! I don't even know who to contact about this bullshit because they're so "haha we got you!" about it, there's no department claiming responsibility. They're creating their own spam trying to prevent spam. What the hell?7 -
Users.
For once they used their brains.
For once they thought about repercussions of clicking on inconspicuous links in emails.
And naturally it happened when I sent out a legitimate email to stop their shopping sprees.
But then again, I would rather have paranoid users than clicky-go-lucky.3 -
Why is the fucking Print option is just right above the Run as Administrator on right clicking on a batch file???
I just printed the fucking runall script for the 4th time today....3 -
Before the lockdown, we regularly had our client's testers in our office to evaluate the prototypes of potential features.
Some of them would just be left on their own with the software and tell is their experience afterwards. The Application is tested on our machines while the Testers are taking notes on their devices.
So one of the testers suddenly told us she had a "non application-related, general technical problem".
Well it turned out that she selected some text in the application running on our machine, then right-clicking and copied it and then unplugged her USB-Mouse, plugged it in on her Laptop and wondered, why she couldn't paste the text.
Since then, my respect for our UX department grew enormously since we very rarely get complaints.4 -
Fml. Im occasionally helping a friend who is taking an intro cs class. Well today I needed to Skype him but Skype wasn't installed yet. Didn't think when clicking through the installation process so bing is now my search bar. Fml....7

Customer: I have a problem with the new BI program.
Me: ok, show me what's wrong.
Customer: when I double-click the icon the program start but does not do anything else...
Me: because you didn't ask anything to the program, you have to launch the utilities by clicking menus like, for example, to make a New report or to Open another report pre-saved.. the program doesn't know what you think.
Customer: ah.......ok, maybe It's time for me to put a paper bag (like for bread) on my head and do 5 minutes of embarassment lonely -
One would assume that "view conditions and accept" shows the fucking conditions and then lets you accept them if you want to. No. By clicking this button I automatically accepted it, and then got them shown for me. Which meant that I had to pay a fucking fee, because the conditions said so. That would be fair if I had seen the fucking conditions before accepting them. Fuck off everybody, I don't have time for dealing with this, I was sick the other day and now I have to work extra hard while still recovering to make up for it and now I have to deal with your crappy support just because you can't design a fucking ui? Whats wrong with you!!!4
-
fck you visual studio!!! seriously what is wrong with you?!?
~me peacfully writing some code ~
ok let's see what we did
vs: I can't compile that. The key whateverKey in line 15 is not defined.
me: ok let's investigate...
nowhere in line 15 use whateverKey.... ok....
wait I didn't change that file at all.
~me clicking rebuild solution~
vs: can't build that because of whateverKey in line 15.
me : WTF?!?
checking git diff -> file not changed
me okkkkkkk......
closing visual studio and reopening solution.
Build succeeded.
What the actuall hell?!?
I'm spending way too much time trying to get that shity peace of software to do what it is supposed to do!6 -
That feeling when you accidentally press the close button of multi tabbed application... be it chrome or multiple ssh client and you get asked if you really want to do it? - Sign of relief.
i accidentally pressed space while clicking that picture and actually lost it all.😥4 -
Did you know that you can 'tap' that track-pad instead of making that annoying clicking sound? It will probably give your track-pad longer life too.7
-
Damn it! today I learnt that GitHub has a tool called Hub - "an extension to command-line git that helps you do everyday GitHub tasks without ever leaving the terminal".
It's been around for 10 years.
And here I was clicking on the link that was sent by the remote after every push to open a pull request 🤦♂️
It even comes with vim syntax support for pull requests.
I'm never leaving the terminal to do things on the GitHub web interface anymore1 -
I've had a pretty stressful week and I'm fairly close to burnnout.
I have Spotify running on one monitor and GitKraken (dark theme) running on the other.
A naff song begins to play on Spotify so go to open an alternative playlist.
Clicking upon any song title doesn't do anything at all.
After a couple of minutes of think WTF realized I was clicking upon commit messages in GitKraken.
I need to get some sleep. :/1 -
Another story of mine is when me and my friends were playing games in the school library. I decided to fuck around on windows XP file systems to see what I could find. After clicking around for a bit, I found a way to access all of the student files in my year, with full access privileges.
What ended up happening was that my friends figured it out too, many of them changing files and writing messages for the other people in our class. After writing messages to each other and leaving messages to students here and there, I decided that it probably should be a good idea to report this.
The response at the IT room wasn't like the woman's response (bitch from last rant). They were like "Cool, thanks." The fix happened immediately and I wasn't really told off. It was a good day c: -
Anyone know what the fucking outcome of clicking either these buttons is going to be? The button I clicked to get to this modal said "Buy Season £7.49"3
-
I visited one IT company here in my town and lead dev told me they are writing their own framework becuase they dont believe on people who wrote open source projects, after few clicking on trying to show me his latest live project -PHP fatal error appeared and I was like 🤔2

I hate when I'm getting in my flow and everything starts clicking, but I have to stop to go do something else. It sucks having something almost completely solved but not having enough time to finish it.1

It is sad to say, but programming in C# using Visual Studio basically consists of clicking buttons, dragging and dropping files and checking / unchecking checkboxes in order to get everything generated.
Where are to good old days, when code still had to be typed. :(19 -
@dfox You lately changed the needed +1's for stickers and stress balls. But you forgot to update the website ^_^ Clicking on Free Swap still refers to 15 and 150.7
-
person: do you know any sites that can help with blah blah blah
me: yea one sec
me: here ya go https://blahblah.blah
person: is this a virus ?
me: no it's a site that will help you with blah
person: i'm not gonna click on that because i don't wanna get a virus.
me: but it's not a virus you can't get a virus just by clicking a link you would actually have to download something and execute it.
person: oh okay but i still don't trust it
me: uhhh okay
person : so are you gonna help me or what ?
me : ..................*scream internally*
person: okay fine your not gonna help me8 -
"No my phone is faster then yours. I prove you"
Puts Android Device and iPhone next to each other and opens Facebook app at "the Same time" by clicking on the app icon after counting down from 3.
"See its way faster"

swag link says you need 20 +1's for stickers and 175 +1's for ball from each post. clicking on Learn More it then says you need 15 +1's for stickers and 150 +1's for ball from each post.
How about some stickers for spotting a content issue?1 -
Well, it took me 7 hours but I finally made it.
I have a functional Arch Linux installation on my new laptop.
oh except the audio fails from time to time but it'll work eventually
and my hard disk starts clicking whenever I reboot even though I keep disabling its "power management"
and for fucks sake will you please mount my usb when i tell you to
and my touchpad doesn't work
but I can code and play games on it so whatever it's functional8 -
I like how when on the main rant list, clicking on a GIF will open it rather than the rant, so can that be implemented for normal images too please?
Usually when an image is posted I want to see the bigger version straight away rather than going into the rant first. I realize that may annoy some people though.3 -
Subscribed to CBS all access just for Picard and Lower Decks. Made the mistake of clicking on the Comedy Central icon by accident.
Two minutes later: email ad in my inbox advertising the Daily Show and Comedy Central.
Fuck you CBS. Double fuck you Viacom.4 -
"There is nothing to dismiss!" - modal error message after clicking "dismiss all notifications" button over an empty notification list.4

I love devRant.
So there I am on the devRant website, busy clicking through options I haven't checked before; I click on "Settings", then the options "Logout" and "Delete Account" appear.
It just so happens that when the options came up, the mouse is hovering over the "Delete Account" button, at the thought of such my mind was like - Ahh! Nooo!3 -
What the fuck Microsoft !! Your android apps are total piece of shit! Fucking outlook Android app don't have support to view doc file which is created using your shitty Microsoft teams portal.
If I click on that doc file link through my outlook app, you redirect me to chrome.
Ok that's still acceptable. But the real shit starts now. You tell me that your browser isn't supported! Is this fucking joke?? Who in the world develops a website which can't support latest version of Android chrome?
Now that I have installed your shitty Microsoft teams app, it doesn't show up in "open with" options. Clicking on that link is still redirecting to the chrome saying that browser is unsupported.
Also, your shitty Microsoft teams app can't edit fucking doc file. When I click on your Microsoft word icon, You again ask me to install Android app for Microsoft word.
Seriously fuck you Microsoft and your shitty apps!1 -
I have roughly 10 forks on my Github profile, 2 of which are actual intended forks
The other 8 you ask? Created from accidentally clicking the 'edit' button in other people's repos. Why the fuck is there no confirmation button.
Deleting them also takes 2 minutes that I usually don't want to spend4 -
when you click “Pronounce” button on Google Translate the second time, it pronounces things slower. What a genius feature. Clicking it the second time because you didn’t quite catch it the first time seems so obvious in hindsight.
-
I hate those morons who do QA by simply clicking around. You are a disgrace to people like me who like to code and still enjoy doing testing.
Get a life you fuckers. You are the sole reason why many people in industry thinks that QA is something anybody can do.
Yes, I agree you can test the application, but in no way you could ensure the quality of the product.4 -
So, by a cruel twist of fate I ended up on the front line of tech support for the app we've built. It's aimed at non-IT professionals, in general people who are not expected to know too much about computers but who should have at least two neurons to bash together in their pretty little heads.
No.
It really makes me drop my faith in humanity considerably. Clicking a confirmation link is too much. Filtering an excel sheet is too hard, despite it being their technically main work tool. Tickets are basically "shit's broken go fix". What is broken? How to reproduce it? Why do you expect the person on the other side of the screen to be a fucking diviner? I recently ran all out of dove guts to search for the answers of your questions.4 -
Literally swear I despise flash. So, had a small job to update a page that consisted of a list of members, clicking on a members name will populate an adjacent div with 3 or 4 contact names. Simple stuff on the face of it.
However, it turned out the previous developer had decided to use flash for this, meaning there is a horrible .swf plonked into the page.
I mean seriously, why can't things be simple? :(2 -
I bought a domain and need some styling suggestions.
it basically demonstrates how language barriers can hurt communication (and I want to screw over google)
so, it takes a phrase and translates it to a bunch of random languages with google translate to see how messed up it gets.
the link is:
https://translationiteration.com
READ BEFORE CLICKING: i still have an unresolved bug with php cookies and sessions so once the page loads, just press refresh ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
so now i need some styling suggestions, and advertiser suggestions (i’m thinking media.net) who respect user privacy and are contextual.
comment :)
p.s. does anyone still say advert or am I the only one ? 🙃20 -
Had a bug that I just couldn't figure out. How did I solve it? Had to think like a user. Just started clicking options over and over. Not giving it time. Found my issue.1

Hacking the parental control software parents which limited the access to 70 minutes a day.

"The web. Using a mouse, mices, using mice. Clicking, double clicking. The computer screen, of course. The keyboard. The... bit that goes on the floor down there."3

Come on devRant! I’m getting really annoyed when clicking on rant that has [read more] at the end since it is a gamble to kill this iOS app you have made. Every ~5th click I get app terminated. Then after I reenter the app, I lost where I was. Thats why I ++ all the rants I have read, even those who don’t deserve it :), so I can scroll quickly and see which are not ++’ed.3

!rant && Android
I thought I found something on devrant app turn out it is an Android thing. Not sure if a bug or not.
I use Android 7.1.2 default keyboard . And Google place a small G logo at the top left corner of keyboard. Clicking that show the gif, emoji, language setting etc menu.
On devrant and a few apps I have tried, that G icon remains on the screen in a transparent and almost not visible state but at the same position after hiding the keyboard. Like a watermark.
At first I thought devrant app background has that mark. Even took a screenshot to share here. Turn out it doesn't show up on screenshot. Because when I zoomed in on the image, the icon remained at same position on screen. So it is showing on Google photo app as well.
Any of you guys have that issue?3 -
For everyone, who uses any IntelliJ based IDE: Ctrl + Click on a method or variable, you will see all uses of that var or method. If you are clicking a usage of it you will jump to the method reference, even from libraries or for example from the Java runtime library.3

Fav part of working from home?
Probably nothing.
- Being within eye-shot of my wife.
Wife: "Since your home just sitting there, could you clean the windows?"
Me: "I can't, busy."
Wife: "You're just sitting there clicking, that's not working. You think *I* sit around all day!? Let me tell you what I do all day for you and your children <blah blah blah>.. I ask you to do *one* thing around here, only *one*, and you can't do that! "
I'll inevitably will be doing anything except coding.
- Being within eye-shot of my daughter
H: "Daddy, can you play this game with me?"
<Hmmm...SharePoint or Candyland?>
Me: "Alright baby, let's play Candyland!"
Actually, being home with my girls would be pretty awesome. :)2 -
Can we just take a minute to recognize that clicking on the uninstall button in Windows 10 not actually uninstalling the app and instead opening an uninstall program page, where I need to look up the app again and it sometimes may not even be registered there, is one of the most fucking retarded as fuck piece of shit design decisions in the history of programming design?
How fucking hard is it to just trigger the uninstall for the fucking app? Why the fuck is there an uninstall option in the first place you wet waffle of a designer.5 -
Can we stop that trend of only showing the username field and then show the password field after filling the username clicking next? It messes with my Keepass browser addon.
Apart from that, it messes with human workflow as well. Enter Username -> TAB -> Enter Password -> ENTER. With that stupid UI you have to either focus the next button with Tab and hope hitting Enter does not already submit the login form or switch to mouse and click the Next button.10 -
My mom is a basic user that needs to use only basic apps to chat and speak with family, post photos and play one or two games.
She is always ranting about how difficult is to do simple things. And she is mostly right.
Like, where are my fucking photos gone?
Why is facebook/whasapp/whatever different today, where are the fucking buttons gone?
what the fuck happened (when while clicking something a update windows popup and you click something else). Why the buttons are so small (when you want to close a fucking ad windows with a little invisible fucking "x" somewhere and you click the ad instead)?
I don't want no fucking cookies.
Why after windows update my fucking game doesn't work anymore. Why I can't hear anything through the fucking skype?
The fact that she knows I'm one of the moron who builds kind of not-usable and buggy fucking things, doesn't help.2 -
Hardware irony - clicking "eject" for an external HDD that's asleep wakes it up just to immediately send it to sleep again.
-
When someone actually commented on my pull request, rather than just clicking approve without reading it.
-
OMG!!! Stop with the image captchas, Shopify and other sites that do this! Good grief! Is this my life now? Budgeting extra time with my clients just to log into websites? That last login took a full 5 minutes of clicking on traffic lights, buses, cars, crosswalks, and parking meters. I swear, when the Singularity apocalypse happens, we'll be attacked by traffic lights, buses, cars, crosswalks, and parking meters.2
-
My mouse is now always double clicking for some reason ... Argh!!! Makes selecting text so fucking awkward8

A shitty job is any job where there's a role "manual tester", defined as a person with no software development experience clicking about some application. That person/role is bad for health and will shorten your life. Stay away!2

I can't be the only one who avoids clicking a Google search result item when it's linking to Pinterest. Fuck that site.1

I bloody love when a UI is so unintuitive that it's easier for me to go snoop through the services' on-disk configuration files... Than keep clicking through form after form after form...
At least I've finally managed to connect to that stupid NAS' SMB service...3 -
FUCKING BIC CLICK PENS!
The single most evil invention of all time. Every single click that I hear tears away another little piece of my sanity.. with repetitive clicking increasing the rate of decay exponentially...6 -
I just contacted the support of one of our service provider for virtual tours. I told them that the iframe will open the website (in target self) instead of playing the tour, and that our clients will most likely not come back to our site, when they don't see a "go back" or something. Best would be, if the iframe plays instead of opening a new tab.
Supports answer: "I sent you a video, there you can see how to get back to your website"
*sends a video of themself opening his browsing history and clicking our site*
A dream of every UX developer.2 -
We all talk about the little things that screw us for days. Here is mine.
The same program with 4 executables pointing to bat files that all run differently. The executables to launch this program are in different places. 3 of the 4 are broken but give all appearances that they are functional. The one that works is buried in another directory that has 3 executables of the same type. Take your pick.
Short story, a 5 day problem solved by double-clicking the right icon. -
At the beginning of the evening I started creating a snapshot of my webserver Ubuntu 16.04 installation, running 5 websites.
When the snapshot was created I started a release upgrade to Ubuntu 18.04.
Finally after upgrade and reboot... Nothing worked anymore. Nginx was running but none of the websites was working.
I started checking logs & searching for a solution, with no luck.
Wanted to restore my snapshot. Reading the docs of Scaleway: only a manual on how to restore to a *new* server...
Dumb me removing my current server and wanting to create a new server: "All servers tempotary out of stock"
Me: *panicing and clicking the resfresh button every second*
"Low stock"
*HITTING the create server button*
Added my snapshot
*Booting up*
Ssh'ing into server
Server: "nope"
#+#£_&-+{$}¥}•+';!
*Sees 'add snapshot to volume'*
*Sees 'add volume to server'*
*All websites running again after nginx restart*
What the fuck.
*End of evening* -
I drop a pile from top of my head. Don’t bother to read.
About release:
When is release ? ( discussed 2 minutes ago )
Who will release ? ( there is always same person doing it )
What was added ?
What information add to clients about release ? ( it was always the same )
About bugs and features:
There is this bug.... ( without specifying)
It doesn’t work. ( there are 3 environments )
Is this ok ? ( clicking randomly )
Is this bug fixed ? ( without specifying )
Where is this feature ? ( while looking at webpage with feature )
How to use this ? ( not specifying what )
Where ? ( while clicking randomly )
When ? ( while scrolling calendar )
Why ? ( still clicking )
Where to click ? ( what I am doing here ? )
About meetings:
When is meeting ?
Where is meeting ?
Why we’re meeting?
Who will be there ? ( information in calendar )
I heard all of them at least once per month. Now I’m recovering at home and my friends are asking why I’m tired. -
Small rant. Why does clicking create a new event in Google calendars???? I am just trying to make it the active window, now I have to actually touch the keyboard to stop the madness!!1
-
Last night : I am gonna change my username and profile Avatar.
This morning , after checking and clicking on the notifications.
Why the fuck did I get those notifications. I don't see where I ranted/commented. Then I realized I changed my username last night. -
"How do I update some content in the CMS?", asked the bewildered Web Project Manager. The Developer snarled "... By clicking the content, changing the text and clicking save!"3

I was talking with my mom on messenger and right after the moment I told her to stop believing in advertisement and not clicking on everything on the net... I saw a job ad on Instagram
"*cool company from my home country* front end developer for 3000 - 5000euro/month based on experience"
(which is a pretty good salary there, the avg is around 900euro/month)
me: *clicks*1 -
Anyone else have this happen? Has happened twice already where the menu covers the feed and no matter what I do I cant remove it to go back to the feed(clicking rants, swiping, etc)4
-
1) clicking on the wk141 tag wouldnt show the wk140 rants
2) big titty mafia mommy gf
3) when i buy something i always have the exact price on my bank account -
Wait a moment sublime... really? I don't have the option to say no to all the 10,000+ replace action?
Now you have me clicking "No", "No", "No"... like a maniac! (-‸ლ)25 -
Google documentation sucks!
Lack of practical examples. They show us very simple example like clicking on button and then straight away redirect to API docs.
Wait, let me at least understand how things fit in together.
Me: Hey google where is step by step guide, at least for setup?
Google: We don't do that here!5 -
Heh, I'm curious... Before you ++ someone, do you glance at how many ++s does the person already have? Does this influence you choice whether to ++ or not?
And how about comments? Does ++s count affect whether/how you coment on one's rant/comment?
I've caught myself clicking ++ only bcz I saw the uswr already had >10k. I wonder why is that :)
edit: I'm not proud of it6 -
Clicks "Save" button....
Yes, that was the point of clicking the save button, to discard my changes... -
_FUCKING_ damn... I just struggled for well over an hour because some icons on my site were displaying different colors in my browser than when viewed otherwise. They're simple icon outlines which should be #111111, but in the browser after checking with a color picker (they were clearly off) the color was #181818.
Turns out it's got something to do with the way gimp exports the png (I think, still not 100% sure sadly). My guess atm: in the export settings the "Save color profile" option was enabled (not sure why, could be I did that at some point). After clicking "Load Defaults" the option is disabled, and after another export the colors look good.
Time wasted :( Feels good to have it fixed though. Does anyone know more about what "Save color profile" does and if that could be the cause of this?2 -
The most annoying popup I hope to not see clicking on a link.
Other cookie [de]selectors seem to have proper "reject all" mechanism. This one not only doesn't have that, it also always has an annoyingly long vendor list.
Also, if I unselect cookies, my choice is only saved for several days. After a week or two it tends to expire and the clickfest starts again
They prolly hope to overwhelm me with the number of clicks required to unselect them all. Well joke's on them, it's a matter of principle. I know where I'll spend the next 15minutes of my life now...17 -
The moment you realise you are in fact clicking the mock up .gif and have been for some time. Time to go home1

I usually click 30 times before I'm able to ++ a comment/rant by double clicking
I mean, it's called double, double click 😂👍 -
This weekend, I bought a mechanical keyboard to use at work. I'm worried the clicking sound will bother my co-workers around me. Does anybody know if bringing the keyboard to work will make people hate me?
It's a Logitech G610 with Cherry MX Red switches. I ordered some rubber o-rings on Amazon to dampen the keys. They should be coming in tomorrow. Should I risk bringing the keyboard into work before I dampen the keys?7 -
Well I was not actually in this meeting but I had to prepare everything so the CEO could show the new software to the employees and when I saw him clicking on stuff and it wasn't working... I was like: it works on my machine! After a little while I found out that I didnt push it to demo so it was still not updated..
Oh that embarrassing moment when I had to go to the room and say: refresh the page please!! -
Wtf devrant crashed at least 7 times today. And around 5 times yesterday.
All while clicking on some comment notif.6 -
The latest scam someone that works with me fell for - I hope I just prevented the rest of my company from falling for (will know tomorrow). Firstly we use fucking imap, secondly how the fuck did you email me to tell me I can't receive emails???
Still pretty well executed.4 -
I was having some trouble accelerating the delivery of a new feature and so my team leader joined me for some pair programming (awesome!). Five minutes later I was selecting some, text while explaining some problems, and he stops me.
Team leader: you know, you can select all that text by double clicking it;
Me: ok (continuing to explain)
Team leader: you have to be faster with that;
Me: That's not the point right now;
Why do people focus so much on these little things?! I really like pair programming, or just pairing to think about a problem, but this kind of things really get under my skin...
(Silver lining: Cool team leader that didn't snap after I told him to focus 😅)2 -
Who the hell hardcodes their localhost ports in a web.config without updating the release config to the correct production URLs? And why doesn't our ops team pick up on this shit before clicking their fancy deploy button? And why in holy heaven do we even have a pre-production server if it isn't an exact mirror of production?
God help me, I need a drink. -
It bothers me far too much when I see people double clicking on ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING.
Oh your browser has opened twice, yeah blame Windows.1 -
Not sure if junior dev is lying or just really bad at using the search function. He made sweeping changes in code he inherited from me and failed to find all the jQuery selectors that broke because of it. And he didn't think of clicking on all the other buttons on the page to check they are still doing their thing. Of course claiming that there is no time for testing when I pointed out his mistake. Wish he'd stop being such a bad, this is not the first time this has happened!

I cannot understand the reasoning behind anyone using Gitlab instead of Github
I have to use it (gitlab) for a project, and these are my observations:
- clicking on one of the tabs on a project throws an internal server error
- under activity, the creation of the repo is listed under issues activity??
- cannot manage to push, even though I have the developer role (permissions broken?)
Ps: when choosing tabs, typing "gitlab is a" comes up with "gitlab is a joke" as autocompletion ;)6 -
Google: "We're sorry... but your computer or network may be sending automated queries. To protect our users, we can't process your request right now."
Despite all of their efforts towards so-called artificial "intelligence" and "I am not a robot", they are still not even able to distinguish a script from human rage clicking?!
I will be so glad when Google and their services will be history. Like with Whatsapp and the other Silicon Valley crap, intelligent people are practically forced to use bullshit software just because it got so popular that "everybody else" is using it.8 -
Every time I use an application that has both light and dark mode, I always use dark, and when I decide "Hey, I want to try light again" I immediately regret ever clicking the option.4

Fuckin McAfee tried installing it and asks me for a restart. After that the application fails to open up a process is clearly running in the background however nothing to show.
Tried the have you turned it off and on again procedure atleast 5 times but nothing.
Finally tried contacting McAfee support. Asks me to give them remote access via their application. The link stayed there like a dummy. Clicking it opened nothing. After the chat got disconnected 3 times.
Then when i try reinstalling it it says we are in the middle of an installation and we'll open that up. It opens a fuckin take a tour box and ypu can fuckin click anywhere and everywhere on the window but it stays there sitting, waiting, watching
Fuckin intel and fuckin McAfee get your shit together2 -
The next time someone asks me to make a website for a low ball offer of £50 or something, I'm going to explain that I'm worth significantly more than that, however, I'm doing some experimental hobby stuff and if they are than insistent I can use my hobby time produce them something from that.
I won't mention that I bake occasionally, breads, brownies, pancakes etc.
I'll just make a pancake stack and inform them that it's a full stack solution and word will get around, locally, that I'm an asshole who shouldn't be worked with.
Since I don't need exposure and I don't need to be making websites for people who don't understand that it's more than "clicking a few buttons" the situation will largely sort itself out. -
For months had a static clicking very faint noise on my creative speakers. Googled every issue with my x-fi titanium, swapped pcie around, changed cables you name it. In the end I blamed "dying" speakers amp as they have 10 years now only to realize a minute ago it was interference from the fecking cell phone's 4g...1

I'm at this magnificent company, working scrum, doing continuous integration which is really very cool. But although the features we develop are really nice it is sooooooo boring.
One of our team members emphasized that we should not pick up new stories if we haven't finished previous stories yet. I agree to some extent but think it is ok to pick up new stories if you have nothing to do. But we may not.
So, here I am now. Literally waiting for the day to pass. This sucks sooooo much!
I'm a hard worker and perform at my best under pressure with many things to do. Now, I just deployed one tiny little story today. I can do much much more. I feel so useless and cannot believe that my client pays so much just for me being at the office. And occasionally clicking a button and writing a line of code. This is so fucked up.5 -
Started work in the morning, after a couple of hours was 90% done and would be clicking the checkbox on trello that task is completed.
Lol.
Found a bug.
OK, debugging time.
Spend an hour on trying to fix the simplest bug ever,( php was creating a file that had the contents but the wrong name)
At this point I was starting to get super pissed of cuz in 30min I need to go meet up with some friends.
LOL ok, fuck this shit, I don't want to do this anymore.
Made the bug into a feature that now you can have multiple authority(admin) accounts.
My teamm8 was like lol ok, we didint really need this but it will be useful so nice job.

It would be nice if clicking outside the "Post Rant/Comment" box doesn't dismiss it, I almost lost a long comment a while ago due to wrongly clicking outside the post button (which is not small but somehow I am able to fuck it up lol)4 -
Started new contract recently, their main product is aiming to be some kind of automation holy grail for business, basically low code nonsense integrating with most of the industry standard tools like sap or confluence. Their entire infrastructure is setup manually, slowly transitioning from on premise to AWS. No infra as code, no playbooks, not even scripts, just "engineers" painstakingly clicking the UI. They don't seem to see the irony of being automation company that doesn't use automation, but I'm having a good laugh at least.

I recently got reminded: The new snipping tool for windows is great! But what the hell is the deal with that ruler? The vast majority of the time when I draw lines or highlight stuff on a snipped picture I want to draw straight lines. But this is only possible by clicking the ruler button, aligning the "physical" ruler that appears and then drawing the line along it. It's like someone really wanted the snipping tool to convey the feeling of sitting by your desk with pen, paper and scissors. Am I missing something?8

Google Inbox is starting to be more and more laggy, unresponsive and slow. And they just don't care. Sometimes I'm like clicking fucking 10 times on a thread until it opens.

After seeing how OS X and various Linux dists are handling virtual desktops Microsoft is leaving a lot to ask for in Windows 10. OS X's full screen your app into a new virtual desktop is pretty neat after you learn to swipe back and forth. And CentOS for instance allows you to create a virtual desktop and associate certain apps with different desktops. Windows however, does only allow you to create extra virtual desktops. But if you'd like to swipe between them you're out of luck, unless your computer has a touch screen. And if you think that clicking on an icon in the task bar would transfer you to your opened windows of said application you are wrong. It just launches another instance of the same application. Sigh...3

I hate the new Teams. It's showing a distracting red icon in the activity bar when someone's sent a chat. Then, when clicking the chat icon in Teams you'd expect it to take me there so I could reset the chat and make it stop showing that irritating red notification in the activity bar. But NO, nothing happens when clicking the chat icon. Useless UX to say the least! This is one of the main reasons why I never use Teams for chatting, and I only open the application for meetings and then immediately shut it down. How come Microsoft, that's been around for so fucking long, still haven't learnt to design consistent, user-friendly and distraction-free applications? I think the answer is: They don't give a shit.4

I have to download 500 images from bookreads to help a friend out. Thought I'd use this opportunity to learn about web scraping rather than downloading the images which'd be a plain and long waste of time. I've got a list of books and author names, the process I wanna automate is putting the book name and author name into the search bar, clicking it, and downloading the first image the appears on the new webpage. I'm planning to use selenium, BeautifulSoup and requests for this project. Is that the right way to go?9

double-clicking bugs in web application.
They keep happening and generate double actions.
Instead of fixing the bugs, I created a script that check periodically for double actions and delete them from db.
I also gave db access to first level support and the query to delete double actions.
So I can be free on weekends and avoid the stress of fighting for resources -
Some random blogs/sites piggybacking StackOverflow, copying content from there and posting it as their own... I don't know about you, I think this is a super shitty thing to do. Sure, it gets obvious at one point and you just stop clicking on search results like that, but it would've been nice if SEO could work against that so search engines discourage and/or penalise it.2

Has anyone else found that not all USB C inputs are the same? You can't just buy an cable and expect it to plug into any socket.

2. The pixel 2 cable fits it nicely and all cables are ready to plugin and work

4. Amazon Fire takes all of them nicely and send all the others can use the cable that came with it too8 -
I am creating a PWA using quasar, which uses vue.js at core.
Now the router is working fine. In production code, The address url is updating dynamically upon clicking route-links. Say, there are 4 routes, namely /user , /friends, /human, /robots. But when I visit one of those route paths using web address or say I reload the application/web page, when the route path is /robot or any other path, server reply with cannot GET /[route path]. I know that I had not set up the route handler at server, but I am not expecting this behavior. I dont want to make request to server like this.
While in dev mode, everything is working fine and as expected. when I visit /robot or any other route path , instead of contacting the server, it render the component that was bound to handle that route path34 -
I'm all for enhancing the user experience. To some extent, making the UI get out of the way to focus on getting things done is admirable!
But it's absolutely *NOT* acceptable to absolutely change how established convention works.
For example, clicking a link should not perform a state change. Use a flipping button!
Checkboxes should not act like radio buttons!
(apparently non-interactable) text should not perform actions!2 -
Its 6 in the morning. I've been unmotivated to program since my highschool graduation. And I just felt some inspiration flow to me but at the same time crippling self doubt followed. IE11 weird behaviour!!
So I'm building a website for management purpose. I'm asked to implement confirm pop up box.
This pop up box uses one div with dynamic content which is created using javascript and not hardcoded in html file.
Here comes the twist. I used append() function to append child elements inside that div. Everything works fine in chrome and Firefox. Pop up shows upon clicking button. But in case of IE 11, on clicking button, It asks user to download fucking json file, instead of showing pop up !!
I'm like WTF is going on??? How the fuck this json file is generated by my code??
Turned out, this happened because of append() function. That doesn't support in IE11. Fixed it, by using appendChild() method.
Don't ask me what kind of data was in that json file. I was too scared to open it!!
Things like this are scary and weird for a fresher like me. :(4 -
Can someone tell me why the fuck is it so hard to choose where to install electron apps? Selecting installation directory is a default feature in pretty much anything installable. Is electron somehow above that? Is clicking the two a extra buttons to choose a second drive too mainstream nowdays? What? Why? I use Atom, VS code, postman, cycligent, boostnote among others . The idea is good, the apps look beautiful and responsive. But bloated as fuck. Atom alone takes 1.4Gb! And I am ok with it! Really I am! But why the fuck not let me install it in a drive where I have 70% of space free and instead make me use my crammed SSD? Why? WHY?1

Do you believe in QA who only tests the application as a user i.e just blackbox testing of clicking here and there.?
The QAs in my company doesn't have a clue on how the shit works and most of them don't even understand a line of code.
I feel that it's really important to test the application from the web api level as well to test out all the complex business logics which may not be feasible from the UI.15 -

That feeling when you realize that the REST API you were trying to consume apparently does not provide a query flag to get for a more detailed response making you think you'll need to fetch one list of items and then fire almost 1,000 requests really does not compare to that feeling when a colleague points out that the REST API in question does in fact support the flag AFTER you implemented the roundabout way.
FUCKING HELL!
I just didn't realize that I could click on GET and POST blocks for the metronome API documentation opening up a frigging pop-up. (See screenshot.)
Why couldn't the information have been more upfront? Only a cursor change on hovering the area could make one thing to click there.
Oh how I blame their lack of a user interface for my blindness.
I thought that it was just a basic documentation that only told you which endpoints exist and expects you to learn by trial of fire. So I searched the interwebs and on their support forum I found an old issue making me think that my round-about way was the way to go m(
Even worse, on the support forum I cannot even leave a comment warning the poor souls comming after me that they should not do the roundabout way as that issue has been long closed.

So does devrant save all your rants?
Apparently I'm super narcissistic and enjoy reading my old rants and the responses to them. A lot. And I'm browsing through, clicking, reading all the old comments (you guys are really great, I love reading your comments) and I realize at the bottom of the list of my rants theres no pagination, no infinite scroll. It just ends at the bottom.1 -
At work i have to do all sorts of things from sql, server code etc to jquery react angular, client apps. Basically everything from programming(frontend and backend) to clicking buttons in the gui because the customer is too lazy to do it himself.

What is it with websites that restrict content with "We're not gonna let you get past us" banners blocking the page like they're gatekeepers?
Some even go the extra half mile of disabling right clicking 😕
Don't they learn from analytics when a coder comes through?
Maybe they should ask Heimdall for some advice.2 -

Dealing with React's setState and looking through all the possible lifecycle methods was so frustrating today.
It should have been a simple thing to disable a button, via the disabled prop, on click. I thought it would be enough to say
this.setState({ disableButton: true });
someSynchronousCode();
this.setState({ disableButton: false });
in the handler ... but it wasn't. The button would still be active for about a second after clicking. I tried several things like converting the synchronous code to a promise, trying componentDidUpdate with a comparison. It all failed. Interestingly enough removing the 2nd setState immediately disabled the button, though making it permanent.🙄
I've found a solution which seemed a bit hacky, changing the state back depending on another variable in the render method.
It seems so wrong, but it was the only solution I found after several hours.3 -

How can anybody use virtualization on Windows? Seriously! My second experience with Hyper-V. Not only it can't do basic stuff like forward devices into VM. And CPU and network configuration is simply a joke with almost no settings. But even those few stop working after a while! Aaarrrgh! Spend hour clicking like crazy trying to get network working. I wanted just a simple network between host and guest. Willing to setup static IP. Can't be simpler. But no, can't do. Somehow started working after ten times trying the same. And stoped after few seconds. Are you kidding me? And there are people using this peice of crap seriously and even call this production? Screw it. My brother will have to learn to have VMs in Linux.5

how the fuck do you brand codebases?
say you've got a brand called dicks,
and you've got a website, api server, some SDK's, and whatever else. How do you format the codebase names so it's A, usable as a variable name, B clickable at the variable part of the name, C, that's fucking it
dicks-website can't be used in js because
dicks-website = require('dicks-website') won't work
dicks_website can't be used in url's and in general because double clicking any part will select the whole word, so you can't replace dicks_X easily.
dicks$api seems to work, dicks and api are seperately clickable, and usable as a variable in javascript. I already know that the $ sign probably fucks up many many systems so that's probably a no go
has this question been addressed already?4 -

Just a thought. Writing a program then clicking run, and your code runs first time, should be something that becomes more common place as one improves their coding ability, now that we call development. To be always surprised when that happens, almost seems to say that such is a matter of luck.3

Look at this beautiful perfectly targetted at that showed up under my rant over poker. I stated where I've played and what my conclusions about poker were. It repeats those parts in his story and advises a different poker site. This is targeting 2.0. It's not even annoying, it could've been useful actually. The annoying part of advertisement is repeating because we're just not that interested and they hope to get you on a weak moment. But imagine if the strategy was targeting so good, that it has a conversion rate of 20 - 30% that a user clicked on it. You won't be needing to have adblock and consider the ads even interesting. Maybe the future of advertisement is bright. Imagine that the mindset becomes "Oh, an add, interesting" and regularly clicking on it8

Today I visited my ex-employer's company website and then checked what is new and what is still same. I was chatbot developer. Then after some hours one colleague(he also left there) told me that our old employer called him and was angry about what did we do. That friend is fullstack dev and I don't know much about those stuffs too. But while surfing the website, I tried to use their platform but couldn't because it didn't give me any resoonse.
So either the employer is dumb, or fullstack dev did something f*kstack and it is broken by just clicking 'login as guest' and receiving nothing. What do you think? -

How to Jitter Click and Increase Clicks per Second?
If you are a gamer who wants to increase clicks per second speed, you must learn how to jitter click. Here, I am sharing an easy step-by-step process of jitter clicking and how to master the technique with practice.
For those who are new to the concept of jitter clicking, let me first tell you about that.
What is Jitter Clicking?
Jitter Clicking is an advanced mouse-clicking technique that gives you more clicks per second on the CPS test ( https://cpstest.pro ) than the regular way of clicking. You use your forearm and wrist muscles to create vibrations in the hand and use it to make more clicks in less time.
How to Jitter Click? Step by Step Guide
If you want to learn jitter clicking, follow the steps provided below.
1. First, hold the mouse properly. A claw grip works the best for jitter clicking.
2. Start by making for forearm stiff and putting all the stress on the wrist muscle.
3. Use the stressed wrist to create vibration in your hand and the index finger.
3. The index finger must be on exactly the top of the mouse button keeping it just a few millimeters away.
4. The vibration in the finger will make the mouse button click way faster than normal
That's it. You've successfully learned how to jitter click. It might seem a bit difficult in the beginning, but after you practice it enough, you'll be able to master jitter clicking within a week.
Among all my gamer friends who started using jitter clicking, most of them have seen significant improvement in their clicking speed. Those who had around 6-8 CPS earlier, started to get 11-12 CPS within a week of jitter click practice. A few of them went even beyond that with 14 clicks per second.
According to stats, jitter clicking is recommended as the fastest way of clicking.
Clearly, it is a good technique but those who are starting to jitter click should take proper precautions as the method involves unusual muscle movements and may lead to wrist pain, cramps, or even carpal tunnel syndrome.
It is advised that gamers take sufficient breaks while jitter clicking and not perform it for long time periods in one go.
Keeping this in mind, I hope you'll definitely get better clicks per second using the jitter click technique.4 -

want to dispatch an action from clicking a button, but dispatch() doesn't exist
add @connect to make dispatch() exist
other stuff crashes because @connect is actually a macro for a wrapper instead of the decorator it pretends to be
get locked in stalemate because both features kind of need to not crash
