Me: intern in XYZ company
Boss: boss of XYZ
Boss: Why are you taking so much time in developing a simple webpage.
Me: *explains because you asked for so much bullshit to include**
Boss: I can develop it in half an hour.
Me: *-_-*
Boss: I developed a website in PowerPoint when I was intern.
Me: In PowerPoint? How?... Really..?
Boss: Ya, that's the type of skills I have. You're so lazy, you take so much time to make a simple webpage.
Me: -_-22 -
Postman: We will stop supporting our Chrome app. Please download our "Native" app for better performance.
No motherfuckers.. Go die, alone, while your fucking family watch you bleed to death helplessly.
Electron is not native, don't mix true native development with lazy ass electron. Fuck you. A native postman would've been around 15MB in size but your "native" installer is 68MB so shut the fuck up and don't call it native or I will stick my native dick in your fucking throats.
I develop native apps So yeah, I'm pissed when web devs are starting to call electron and JS as native desktop apps... They are not... Now fuck off you smelly cunts.40 -
Another story on the spirit of wk93. TL;DR I DOS'd the whole campus network for some beers.
In highschool teachers had this blackboard system (a sort of moodle) and we used to have really lazy teachers who only read the PowerPoint presentations and made us take notes. One day I was fed up with their bullshit and figured these lazy ass professors wouldn't "teach" crap as soon as there was no internet connection...so the race was on...
10 minutes before the bell rang a friend and I managed to break in into a computer lab, I booted up Kali and searched for the access points, 3 routers through the building all with CISCO OS.
I figured they had all the default configs, time was running out so I decided to Smurf the three access points with the lab's IP range, scheduled an automatic shutdown in 2 hours and blocked the PC. The bell rang and as predicted, no internet, no class, my friends and I used that free time to go to a bar (on a Monday afternoon).
Funny side note, since the 3 routers were down the whole network collapsed, no cameras, no access control, no faculty network or any network. We kept doing it and every time we did campus security would be desperately searching for someone with a black hoodie.6 -
Made this for my mom for one of her projects.
May not be 100% accurate, but I was lazy so that means it's close enough. 😋2 -
When you write scripts to automate stuff because you're lazy, but you spend so much time writing them it makes you doubt your own laziness4

Juniors nowadays are so lazy.
J: How to do X?

So today I got really triggered when i hear this guy say that coding is cancer. I stand up and instantly the first thing going through my mind is that it's the battle of the nerds. He says he tried ALL of the programing languages out there and they were shit. I asked if he tried C# and he still says coding is cancer even though he has never even heard of any C# syntax. I asked if he used Batch as a started language and he still says it. So I just decided to roast him by saying "did you put .bat at the end of the file when you were saving? Oh wait never mind, I forgot your lazy ass doesn't have the intelligence to understand how to save"
Surprisingly everyone was silent and most likely didn't understand what I had said. So I just left wondering if he even bothered to get a guide on syntax for any of the languages he would have liked.5 -
First time I've seen an app which willingly, intelligently, and sensibly turns off its own daily notifications after I never used their app for many many weeks.
Props to the devs for taking into account people like me,who are just too lazy to disable an app's notifications. Also Enki is absolutely incredible for devs so go check it out :D13 -
My first unintentional "hack" was in middle school, I had been programming for a couple years already and I was really bored.
My school had blocked facebook, twitter and so on because most students are lazy and think everything revolves around their "descrete" cleavage picture's likes. Any way, I thought most would be naive and desperate enough to fall into a "Facebook unblocked" app at the desktop, the program was fairly simple just a mimicking FB page done on C# ASP that saved user and passwords in an encrypted file.
I distributed it in around 5 computers and by the end of the month I had over 60 accounts, and what did I do? I used it to post a gay relationship between two of my friends on fb (one had a gf), it was dumb but boy did I laughed, after that I erased everything as it didn't seem so important.3 -
"We have another major incident spinning up. QueenMorgana, are you free?" NO, I'M FINISHING UP THE NOTES FROM MY LAST TWO CALLS THAT JUST ENDED, WHY DON'T YOU CALL IN, LAZY FUCKWAD.
Why is it so damn difficult for my boss to cover a call when we're all busy DOING ALL THE LITTLE POINTLESS SHIT HE GIVES UP. He had me follow up from my coworker's call yesterday, not seeing the logic in, IF IT WERE STILL A FUCKING ISSUE, THEY WOULD HAVE CALLED US BACK THIS MORNING.
So now, I have to sit on the line AGAIN and take notes for shit that's not even a major issue BECAUSE IT'S BEEN DOWN FOR A WEEK. IF IT'S DOWN THAT LONG AND YOU DON'T SUBMIT A TICKET TO ME OR CALL OUR MAJOR INCIDENT LINE, I DON'T GET PAID ENOUGH TO RESPOND LIKE IT'S AN EMERGENCY.
Also, fucking lazy asswipe of a "teammate" bitching about being on a call for over 8 hours, while the rest of us are on back to back calls. He's never been on a long call and has been here a year longer than I have. I've been on a 14 hour and a 16 hour, and my other teammate has handled a 26 hour call. 8 HOURS IS FUCKING NOTHING AND YOU WORK FROM HOME SO DON'T EVEN HAVE TO WEAR PANTS.

Me and my girlfriend's pillow talk about memory leaks
Me: **... So garbage collection is a means to stopping a memory leak from occuring
Gf: what 's a memory leak ?
Me: a memory leak is like when you want a pizza, and the guy gives you pizza. But you don't eat the pizza and you ask for another pizza. You keep doing this repeatedly. Until the pizza guy realizes what you're doing and decides to kill you. He then takes back all his pizzas
Gf: why would you do that though?
Me: Lazy ass programmers who don't clean up after themselves.6 -
Regular Person = Regular Person;

Why are people so lazy they can't google their problem before calling help desk?
I hate mental lazyness!4 -
WTF - I discovered that wasps listen to me!
Earlier when one came in, I tried to catch it with a glass and release it, or kill it if that wasn't feasible. This year, I tried pointing to the window and ordering "get out!" just because I was too lazy to take action. Of course, I didn't expect it to work, but it did. I thought it was only a coincidence, so I kept trying it. It works every single time!
Crazy shit!13 -
I’m the embodiment of lazy...
I had turned on the TV in the living room earlier and put on sesame st. for my daughter to watch.
Some time passes, I’m trying to work in the back bedroom, have daughter in my arms and she’s falling asleep. I forgot to turn off the TV in the front room.
Didn’t want to get up from my desk so I just wrote up a powershell script to connect to the computer plugged into the TV and kill chrome. (The Computer sleeps after 10 minutes, and the TV shuts off after 10 more minutes of no display signal).
Script was successful as I heard Elmo laughing, then suddenly all was quiet 🤫7 -
I already wrote one rant about how my family deals with me being a developer, but this rant I wanna dedicate to people close to my family and what they actually think...
Earlier this year I ended school, so I was supposed to find a job. Well...I live in region where only small IT "companies" exist. It is really hard to find job as a developer around here. These small companies either do not want to hire anyone or they just hire people with super amazing university or just family members and friends. Anyway, I did not want to move to the capital city, so I just kept seraching...and that is how this family friends started to be fucking toxic.
While searching for job everyone just kept telling me how am I lazy as fuck and will not just go digging fucking drains or work for minimum wage to some korean shit company around here. Of course not literally, but I can see when someone starts to look at me as I am completely crazy. Our family lost many fake friends who just do not understand because of this. But it did not ended here...
When I finally found a job 1.5 month earlier, I was so happy. Job from home in relative good company. Ho Lee Fuk! Nobody believes me I am actually working. People look at me as I am a lazy fuck laying all day in bed and watching fucking TV. I am done with these dick people.
End of story.2 -

To anyone suffering from chronic pain, especially lower back pain: Don't get fooled by shitty doctors. And don't expect doctors to magically heal you. If you want to stop your suffering, you need to be proactive.
What? But my herniated disc from 10 years ago... bla bla bla. So what? It's not going to get better when your only exercise is putting on your socks. Chances are 99% that your spine has shit to do with your pain. Go to a proper chronic pain therapy instead of downing opiods and getting sick notes.
Note to self: Do your sports every day you lazy bastard. Eat healthy, sleep regularly, don't stress out over every damn thing and don't forget to fucking relax!22 -
Yesterday I had to film something but I was too lazy to set up my LED pannel so I wrote a blank html page and opened it in fullscreen on my projector.7

Motherfucker if the project uses Eslint to enforce code standards, please don't start every fucking file with 20 lines of /*eslint-disable*/s
It's there to fucking help you and all the new devs who have to deal with your shitty code. I'm sorry that you're too fucking lazy to make a few small tweaks so that future developers don't have to deal with your sad braindead 1337speak JavaScript
Just use the fucking tool like everyone else, you don't have to fucking disable it so that your sad ego can continue to think you're the Bill Gates of JavaScript7 -

We got DDoS attacked by some spam bot crawler thing.
Higher ups called a meeting so that one of our seniors could present ways to mitigate these attacks.
- If a custom, "obscure" header is missing (from api endpoints), send back a basic HTTP challenge. Deny all credentials.
- Some basic implementation of rate limiting on the web server
We can't implement DDoS protection at the network level because "we don't even have the new load balancer yet and we've been waiting on that for what... Two years now?" (See: spineless managers don't make the lazy network guys do anything)
So now we implement security through obscurity and DDoS protection... Using the very same machines that are supposed to be protected from DDoS attacks.17 -
Found a bug, reported it to the maintainer.
He then tells me to ignore it since no one noticed it (besides me).
I tell him i can't do it since it's just wrong and he can simply fix it.
Turns out he's just lazy as hell and got mad at me, so i go and fix it.
Next day boss is mad at me because i'm wasting time on tasks that it's not of my concern even knowing all my tasks were completed.
Not even a "thank you by the way".
What did i miss here?4 -
my mind is multithreaded but can not physically execute more than one thread at a time.
i.e. i want to say 5 sentences in the same time bc im too lazy to wait and say them one by one after a specified delay of time, so i fuck myself over while speaking.
like atomic regions, i bust a few words from time to time from different sentences i have in mind and it ends up not making any sense to what im saying, but it does in my head.
so this is what too much covfefe and sleepless coding nights does to people12 -
I love it when a fellow "dev" asks about some interesting security topic (full disk encryption) and I'm like "yeah I use LUKS pretty much everywhere".. and then takes an entire arm when given a hand.
Performance in LUKS? Yeah sure you can benchmark it within cryptsetup. Here's how to do it and choose a good cipher for your CPU.
D: Oh also how do I check my battery life?
M (thinking): you lazy fucking piece of shit.
M: FUCKING GOOGLE IT
D: Obviously that means that you don't know it.
M (thinking): so not only lazy but also disgustingly ungrateful, fucking twat.
M: acpi. Next time fucking Google it.
D: You know what? Never mind.
As if I'm the one that's fucking wrong now!! But you know what, never mind indeed. Because you've successfully wasted my fucking time instead of fucking googling "check battery life Linux" like a sensible dev would.
Fellow "dev", if you're on devRant I hope you read this. You can seriously go fuck yourself.4 -
Third World country: *has power outage because of corrupt government*

I have become so lazy that I write things like
int reservations = getReservations()
and then use the IDEs quickfix to change int to Arraylist<Reservation>
Saves me roughly 15 characters but its always worth it :D6 -
I'll repeat what I wrote in an answer in another rant because I think it made a good story (I just realized it after writing it :p) :
I met a guy in my school who was the best of the school : I mean, he jumped over the first two years of the school (and he started from scratch, he never had programmed before).
I went to ask him how he got enough motivation to make all the two years projects in one and he told me something that made me understand why he was so good : "I'm fucking lazy, so when I code, I code something that I would use for a very long time, tools that will be useful in next projects".
By doing this, all he had to do in end-year projects was to assemble what he already had done to make the program. He had perfectly working tools that were awesome. So, he never had to work more than 10 hours a week after doing this.4 -
Fuck, I'm too tired to rant about shit. Life is really starting to go better and I just...don't know what to rant about, so I've been quiet for the past couple months.
Uhhhhh, whenever I close my laptop the screen stays on and seeps through but I'm too lazy to actually mess with it to make it turn off when I close it?
I've been hanging out with my best friend again lately and she's the best fucking person ever?
OH WAIT, I'M BROKE, THERE'S SOMETHING (I've spent like 10 minutes typing, just trying to think of shit to say)! But I'm just bad with managing money and I get paid on Saturday anyways..
Guys. I don't know what to even rant about anymore. Life is finally going good enough that I don't feel the need to rant all the time.2 -
Sometimes I wonder:
Who actually cares?
About what I do
About what I make
About me.
Why put in effort if there is no different result? Why am I always sad? What ruins my day? Is there really hope? Why? So many life questions I want answered. Do I care too much? I definitely think way too much. Why am I so lazy. The questions I have.
Cheers,
To a better day.13 -
When you're writing in Python and forget which brackets to use but you're too lazy to look it up so you just pick one and hope it works.
372 ERRORS. -
I'm juste laughing .
I just can't.. Ok :
1. I pay for 1Gb down, 750 Mb up.
They usually provide 10% more.
So did already post speed tests here.
Now for uknown reason, my download went to 600 Mbps.
Not a big deal, I I still called ISP.
After all tests done, they bumped my conexion. And even with bump I still have obly 550 Mbps.
But, LOOH AT THAT UPLOAD !!!
That upload is insane. And i'm pretty sure it's limited by my only 2.5 Gbps card
Fort lazy :

My Lazy Habits:
1. Not testing my own code thoroughly... cuz fuck that. That's the tester's/QA's job.
2. I create slack commands to get certain things done, so I dont have to get up and open my laptop each time I receive a ticket.
3. Ask more time for development that I actually need so I can fit in couple naps here and there.
4. Falsely claiming that I am busy when someone invites me over meet or a phone call. Like just text me.
5. Factoring my laziness in when I design features LOL.1 -
"200 Internal Server Error"
Yep, I did that. Because the lousy crapheads I work with were too lazy to handle any other HTTP status so anything else breaks the whole thing. And it's a pain to roll out another release of their part of the backend so "this isn't a priority". Also, they don't feel the need to check the JSON body of the response for the "status":"ok"/"fail" because what could ever go wrong, right? I effectively have no way of conveying to them that there was an error on this end of the API so they show success toast on the frontend irrespective of what really happened.6 -
Not exactly dev stuff, but LaTeX low-key makes me nervous.
In writing my thesis it seems that through some keyboard-fuckery I managed to slip in some weird unicode bullshit character somewhere, so that it doesn't compile. Alright, I just do \DeclareUnicodeCharacter{0301}{ASDF} so that it gets replaced by ASDF. Searching for ASDF in the output pdf file does not yield results, so I can't even find the location of the fuckery in the text. It seems that unicode character is somewhere in my .bib-file and I guess my citation style doesn't even render the part of the data that character is in after all. So the above hack works, but still there is some weird-ass character in my bibliography file that I can't find.
On another note: I get that modularity is cool and all, but who thought that it is a good idea to give people zero transparency over what macro stems from which included package? No namespaces etc. I end up including a whole lot of packages that are needed for exactly one macro. That bloats up the file and you have no way to trace back which macro came from which of the quazillion included packages.
...then again maybe I'm just a lazy piece of shit whose google searches end before success and all of the above has some easy fix.9 -
For God fucking sake! The absolute worst platforms are TV's.. LG - WebOS has barely any documentation and a framework that runs very poorly. Not to talk about the 200 bulletpoint self checklist you have to go through before you can submit a new release!
Samsung - Tiden TV... Told me to contact a content manager, and I've almost been waiting 3 months now for any answer, haven't heard a word. My boss thinks I should write another email and cc him so Samsung will get scared... Jesus fucking Christ this sector is a bunch of arrogant lazy fucks1 -
I love GDB on CLI!
I'm using an OSS tool for multi-threaded testing stuff, and it's nice but segfaulted after 30 minutes.
I was too lazy to set up an IDE project and click through tons of stupid shit, so I just compiled the tool with debug symbols, fired up GDB on CLI, let it run until a crash, got a strack trace and quickly found the problem.
I sent a bug analysis to the author, plus a patch which got accepted, done.5 -

rhymes are lazy / nonexistent, I know, but my rage is superseding my ability to rhyme right now.3 -
God fucking dammit why are people so fucking lazy? A couple months ago I've had the intern refactor and organise this coworker's spaghetti code, and he did an excellent job, added type safety, etc.
I've took special care to explain it to this coworker that I understand he didn't have time to organise code and the intern took care of it, and to please keep it clean from now on.
Today I had to add a small feature to the same codebase, and every single thing that fucktard added from then on was crammed in the same file. And that guy's been here for 5 years already, I thought I don't have to triple check every single line he writes by now...5 -
So at the moment I'm developing a RESTful API for an internal project at work and I'm starting to learn and understand about HTTP status codes.
So I started incorporating proper response HTTP status etc, but my co-workers don't understand what any of it means. They think that just sending a JSON response is enough with any messages should be enough. I think this mindset stems from people who just do simple AJAX calls in JavaScript just to get or store data.
It's these kind of developers that I find are lazy or have no motivation to improve themselves, which is disappointing.5 -
What a lazy fuck.
This so called full-stack developer doesn't know how to use mysql from command line. The only way he can do anything in the database is using phpMyAdmin or MySQL gui.
What? How do you even call yourself a developer when you don't know how to use basic command line tools?
The fucker wants me to find out why a particular feature is not working?
Why the fuck are you being paid for? You stupid idiot.
"Can you please grep ... in the server?"
What? Why would I do that for you? How about you ssh the server yourself?
What a waste of time.5 -
I'm too lazy to learn git, every time I try to push something, I always get an error that I can't solve.
So instead I email all my projects to myself, save them in a pen or Google Drive.24 -
I can't code
So 3 things i hate because i can't code. #selfrant
1. My father was a programmer in the 80-90ties. So he forced me at 11 years old to do a stupid "Java for Kids" book. You had to write sooooo much verbose code just that a stupid grey button would appear that looked ugly. I really really hated it.
2. Now I'm a graphic designer by trade. The first time I came in contact with something useful code related was in 2011. https://processing.org the generative design framework. It looked glorious! But it was in Java! I hated it.
3. I hate that i can't code because I'm dependend on you guys to get my design to become alive. Thanks to 3 years on devRant, the days arguing with a lazy dev that something can't be done is thankfully gone.6 -
I wrote a base converter in AssemblyScript that could take a numeric or string radix of 2-36. String options being binary, ternary, etc.
Then I couldn’t figure out how to color scheme it, so went about it the lazy way.
I present to you: Choose your own damned background and text colors.

Worked as a student in a big company. Just doing data entry and checking product data. It was a nice part time job at the same time with computer science study. After a year I asked for something else and switched to the Android Team. I said I could do a little bit of Java and wrote for another half year Unit Tests. That was the point where I really learned coding and got experienced. Would never learned so much in my study because I was lazy. Now I can call me a Android Developer. Still love the company for giving me this opportunity.

Personal project: I design and build single-board computers with old processors like Z80, 6502 etc when I'm not being too lazy. A few run CP/M. One that's been more interesting in terms of digging deeper has been an 80C188, for which I've written a BIOS (despite the chip's built-in peripherals and interrupts being at non-standard addresses) mostly in C, which it can use to boot DOS from an image file on an SD card (bit-banged off the UART chip with FatFs). (Yes it's slow, but so is a 5.25" floppy.)
Work: My first project at my current job. Not particularly exciting compared to some stuff on here, but it got me into making useful contributions to the open-source CRM we used at the time. Was building a basic extension to deal with duplicated organisation names. So learned CiviCRM fairly deeply, a bit of Drupal, a bit of PHP. It's a shame we don't use that system any more, the community was cool.7 -
There's a lotta memes about Google spazzing out whenever you log into a new device, but Fitbit is even worse lol
I not only get a notification that my Fitbit's battery is low, I also get a fucking email about it.
Like y'all chill out. I know it's low.
I'm sure this can be disabled somewhere, but I'mma probably get a new watch soon so I'm too lazy to deal with it4 -
So, learning Java at the moment.
Thoughts so far:
“This IDE is going to make me so lazy! It can write getters, setters, AND toString() for me?!”
“Oh my god, angle brackets. It’s like someone with a love of nesting was made fun of for wasting space and retaliated by crafting a language that inlined nesting data types.”
“Whoa, this would safeguard what kind of input went into the function SO MUCH.”
“DOES THIS MAKE IT EASIER TO WRITE UNIT TESTS?! *excited*14 -
Guys checkout my first UI widget for android here

Feel free to use the widget wherever you want, I havent yet added the license because I'm lazy but its apache 2.0 so enjoy.3 -
Installing a GPU is easy - except if it doesn't fit in the case. I had to saw off 3cm of the upper, 5.25" bay. Just removing the bay cage entirely was not an option because I still need that for my DVD drive.
My bow saw wouldn't have enough space, and the cage is riveted. So despite terrible ergonomics, I used the metal saw of a fucking Swiss Army knife for 24cm of cut length through 1mm steel. Then I filed off the cuts so that I won't injure myself later.
However, I was too lazy to take out the mobo and shit, so I protected it professionally against potential metal dust - with a towel.21 -
Why is source code so crappy? May career is not the longest, buy in my 8 years I talked to so many developers and every one told me how important quality, standards, tests and architecture are - but every codebase I've seen is lacking all of it. Everything is running on constant live support.
I don't get it. It is like I live in a world where everyone does know what has to be done, but no-one does it. I suspect it is because people are lazy, lying and won't say no but that's also not a world I want to live in.24 -
TL;DR - the doctor is a lazy cunt and I hope he steps on a lego.
We’ve got a user authentication portal for all the users in our network. Well, we have it set to where you can only have two active log ins on two different machines, anything else will give the error message “you need to log out elsewhere” or whatever it is...
This god damn doctor has been told to log out several times and still calls us to ask why it’s “not working”.
I just received a call because the lazy cock sucker didn’t want to walk from the clinic to the hospital to sign out, are you fucking kidding me you lazy fucking ass hole? It’s not my job to be your mother fucking slave dude, get the fuck up and do it yourself!
I’ll take a lot of shit from anyone but when you refuse to retain the information to preform your job and want someone else to do it because you’re too fucking lazy, that’s when we’ve got problems.
I hope you step on a fucking LEGO.
I’m heavily medicated so if this doesn’t make sense I... don’t care. -
It’s so great to hear Apple is finally officially making the transition to rolling out their own silicon on everything... fucken fabulous. Sure there may be problems at first but this might just get the ball rolling to get more companies todo the same... we need to eliminate the silicon monopolies... ARM and rolling your own is the future... well it always use to be the standard... back in the day, until the whole modularity and lean manufacturing and order off the shelf shit came about .... but finally we have once again come full circle back to where things use to be.... pairing hardware with software fucken beautiful LOVE IT!!!
Sure this will affect portability but .... guess what folks... means more jobs for us... quit being lazy and complaining about having to work..
Love vertical integration!!!!34 -
1. I'm lazy
2. It pays the bills

OMG people please stop being so fucking lazy... help me help you... RN I have multiple support people asking me to fix a bug that they can't even describe (and honestly I doubt it exists) and a fellow developer who refuses to give me a DB or migration to test his patch but wants me to merge it urgently. FOH and die, y'all.20

I received a pair of complements on how well I run team meetings after an engineering all staff this morning. Received a similar comment last week.
Someone asked “what’s your secret?”
I reply “Laziness”
“What?”
“I’m lazy. I don’t like meetings most of the time. So when I run meetings, I run them so that they’re over as fast as possible”
“How do you do that?”
“By knowing what I actually want”
“What if you don’t know what you want?”
“Then there’s no meeting”
“Well what if y-“
“Hey listen I have another meeting to get to”3 -
A story from around 2005:
Customer laying out specifications: “We expect this software to need to last 25 years or so, and it will need to keep historical file processing data by dates for at least that long, assume storage is no issue.”
Devs at the time: “look best I can do is support that start with 200 or 201, anything else is really too much to ask. Also understanding how to work with dates at all and not just string manipulation is waaaaayyy hard yo.”
Fuck you lazy motherfuckers. This is why people thought Y2K would be a problem. -
I use my PC mainly for gaming, Anime and home stuff.
Pc is a big tower under the desk btw.
Main monitor is a 34", 1440p, 60hz from LG (it's rather old). Second one is a 29", 1080p monitor from Phillips which I also could rotate. I really have no idea what I should use it for and I never really put it on anyway.
I could do more or less professional recording for Twitch or whatever but I'm to lazy and no pro, so I only use it for some multiplayer game sessions.
Questions or ideas how to optimise my setup are welcome.
Cable management is a mess btw. -
So today is a very lazy day for me.
My code doesn't work. Don't feel like bug fixing.
Just feeling sleepy BUT THE COFFEE IS BLAND!!
Sooooo. Here I am, typing away.
Writing these cute commented lines.

All those website builders, tools and frameworks were designed to make tech illiterate people be able to create websites, so how fucking dense are all those people that publish jobs to create a website with a literal click & drag tool or website builder?!
Example: http://grapesjs.com/ is very popular amongst those searching - though this seems would have to be published manually after creating it, so I would understand help with publishing, but theres websites also mentioned like squarespace, which has seriously no excuses besides being that lazy and forcing somebody to chew it for you
I see maintainability of the website later on of course as a handy argument for them to use those kinda tools and websites, but what do you need somebody to do it for you from the start, if you plan on later then manage it the same way?4 -
One of our clients IT team is lazy as fuck they slack too much, it took them 2 weeks just to respond our email (We already sent like 2-3 reminders in between).
Client:"We fucking pay you and it's still not ready, how much time it will take?"
Us: Just respond to that email ffs so we can proceed.
Client: Oh, there was an Email? we will have a look into that.
Even after, it took them 4days to send fields which were meant to be sent like 2weeks before.
(in between 4days we had called them just for the fields again and even after the fucking call they send that fucking fields after one reminder)
And of course, still, the blame game is on us.2 -
Merry 2018 in advance.

So I am finally plunging into continuous integration. If I make one more deploy script mistake, I've lost enough time to merit having learned a better solution than bash scripting calling git and rhc and py files I wrote. I have failing tests that are failing because they weren't updated after the million and a half urgent changes in the past 2 months, so it's time to act like I am a TDD fanatic and write the tests correctly. So much work. All from me listening to the constant req changes, listening to the urgency, letting non-devs get under my skin if you will. I'm optimistic in all the wrong places - I think I can write that by end of day let's try it. I'm lazy in the wrong places - I think that I can write that test later, because all I changed was XYZ (which took all night but I said I'd get it as close as possible didn't I?). And I think these handful of bash scripts are good enough to make sure I run tests? But remember, I didn't write the tests or I didn't go back and update them. Or the tests that fail, I'm too lazy. And so much of the tests, I would need to use, idk selenium for, and damnit if I really don't want to dig for element IDs to wait for every time I need an AJAX call.
Okay wow, I really did rant here. And discredited myself a bit lol I need to ignore the wrong lazy and embrace the right lazy. Protect myself from myself and from contributors. It really is, up to me now, to rescue myself from my bad habits. Bad habits perpetuated by clients urgency every day, to change things, that should have been finalized in November if we wanted a stable flipping system in January. It feels like the blind (client) leading the blind (me, when I do dumb shit like rush features out the door half tested).
Anyway all this came out, because I have been reading about continuous integration and stumbled upon this quote. And thought someone might laugh at the anachronism like I did2 -
I love, love, LOVE Unity Engine!!!
Great tutorials, good documentation, helpful community, easy to understand interface...
It's all just... so beautiful.
I swear to god that I'm not shilling for them, I'm just so happy that, as a generally lazy SOB, I've been working for about 10+ hours now in one sitting, and I'm still not bored or frustrated that I don't get something.
God bless you Unity, I might actually make something outta myself...maybe...someday.8 -
Management has been promising we'd leave .NET framework for 2 years now. Never fucking happens. A new ASP.NET project was just started last week and yup, OF COURSE, its .NET Framework 4.8.
I'd even be happy with one of the earlier .NET Core versions at this point for fucks sake. I have no clue why tech leads are so happy to create a brand new project on a deprecated framework version.
And yes, I have checked thoroughly. Our whole infrastructure works with .NET Core onward. People are just too lazy to learn new stuff.
Stuff like switching to .NET 6, actually doing unit testing, improving our CI/CD pipeline, refactoring problematic codebases, etc. -> all this stuff is the kind of things they promise me I can work on later whenever I'm so bogged down with work that I'm looking for a light at the end of the tunnel. All empty promises.
Ideally we should be on .NET 6 since its LTS and just stay on the LTS versions as the year goes on.8 -
Sometimes I feel like I am surrounded by idiots. My family are too stupid and lazy to have jobs or do anything involving a skill. They are too dumb to do anything properly so most of the house is fucked.
My co-workers are supposed to be Web devs but cba to learn the frameworks or languages we work on. Some of them have over 5 years experience and don't understand basics like backend verification vs front end.. Or even what json is. Needless to say everything I'm told to do is retarded such as implement roles and permissions where there are no roles, but ot allowed to add roles.
Anyone else surrounded by idiots 90% of the time? How do you not get worn down?2 -

I've always been kinda lazy about backups and such, thinking it wouldn't be so bad, and "I have my most important stuff on Dropbox".
Just now, for some reason one of my hard drives just stopped for a bit, and I couldn't do anything with it anymore. Luckily it went away after restarting my pc, but it scared the shit out of me, as I almost lost 500 gigs worth of music, films, documents, etc...
This made me really think about the whole backup thing, and I'm creating a disk image as I type this. The time that I spend on that will be much less then the time it'll cost to recover everything. Lesson learned ^^'3 -

Joys of living in Switzerland:
We have four fucking national languages (english not included), with around 20 dialects of swiss german, most of us only know their origin language, yet stupid companies think we only speak one and assume it's fine to just send their filth in a language we may not understand.
Filter IPs and don't send your shit to regions that don't talk the language, or go and pay some translators (yes, they're expensive, but hey, you chose to sell/promote in Switzerland, deal with the fucking it). We are lazy and uninterested in your shit, so open your wallet if you want to reach us.
And it's not like I can't speak German, I'm just pissed for this inconsideration.

We often rant about people who think that because we can program we can do everything with computers.
But I have to admit that when I get asked what I do I often only say that I program or do something with computers. I usually don't get more specific because it's so hard to explain to someone who doesn't know anything about the subject that I would have to explain the basics each time. And I'm just to lazy for that.
It's nice when people ask me how it is going at work but I probably won't say anything more than ok or fine because my day was fucked up by a memory alignment bug in the chainloader and I now don't have the patience to explain what these both things are and why they fuck up my day. -

So, Instagram put that "Be the first to comment" as a part of the background on the image itself. Whenever I scroll past comments that is visible in between the gaps. This was about two years ago, and is so fucking simple. But it's because I fucked up something so goddamn simple that I'll never be able to forget.
One of the stupidest fucking things I've done?
Went into the GNOME Disks utility trying to wipe a SanDisk Cruzer USB drive. BAM! There goes the entirety of my /dev/sda disk! Oh, and you know all partitions on that disk?? Gone!! Nothing I could do.
I don't know which pisses me off about myself more: The fact that Linux has more complicated tools that do the same exact job but make me think about what the actual fuck I'm doing thus preventing fuckups, or the fact that I was too fucking lazy to use them and decided to go with the dirt simple option and still managed to fuck myself over in the end...
Lesson for you kids that haven't fucked yourselves over in a way this dumb yet: ALWAYS have that backup installer USB somewhere. ALWAYS. -

I studied BS Computer Science and one of our requirements is our thesis. All of the groups in our section proposed Web Based apps and got rejected because web based apps are too common. So we have no choice so all of us proposed mobile apps. Mobile Development is not in our curriculum so we have to teach ourselves during the development of our thesis.
All of the groups' dev collaborated and taught each other except one group, my group. Since I am a lazy motherfucker, I didn't taught myself how to develop a mobile app (android). So I made a web based app with responsive design, purchased my own domain, used android studio's webview and voila, a mobile app with a web based admin.
P.S. We got the best thesis award.3 -
I want to pause my music so I can focus, but I have two co-workers right next to me who are working in a problem. I could take my laptop somewhere else, but I would rather they just shut the hell up, or go book a damn conference room.
I could just say that .. or just be lazy and post about it on dev rant. 😅
Also, fuck open workspaces. I never though I'd miss the cubical, but the open work space is a new level of hell.1 -
Fuck you AMD for being too lazy to implement VK_EXT_fragment_shader_interlock even though your hardware supports it [1]
It's literally *the* best way to implement any sort of order independent transparency ( https://web.archive.org/web/... )
But noo, not enough people are using it so too bad. Now you just have to render transparent objects all fucked up and bad looking on AMD hardware because "we don't feel like it"

Why the heck would you allow (or need) nested block comments? Imo this is a major design flaw in the kotlin linter.
I always use /*... //*/ so I can remove the comment starter w/o having to remove the comment end, but kotlin just starts a second, nested comment there.
Java, C, Cpp, C#, JS,... Not one of these uses nested block comments. I think jetbrains was just lazy?
I mean, I know why such stuff happens. I also developed DSLs in MPS, but there sure are ways to go around such things..7 -

My eyes hurt everytime our backend guy gives me a new REST API to implement in our app and always the formatting of the json is something like this. Like why can't you just fucking format it properly so I won't have to look at my code and feel disappointed for writing such ugly code. All because your lazy ass didn't care to understand the fundamentals of how json objects and arrays work !!! It's been a month since I've joined this company and I'm tired of explaining why we should use the status code for failure checking and not this stupid pass/fail status flag. I don't even remember how many times I've brought it up but everytime I get reasons like "Dude, you know what our server is never going to go down or fail so it doesn't even matter". And at that point I feel like I shouldn't even argue with him anymore.3

The battery of my good old Huawei Y300 is slowly dying. So I thought it was time to cut the battery consumption a little. What a delusion. A new battery costs < $5 btw, but I'm too lazy to order :)
I've tested 16 highly acclaimed (of about 20,000, didn't count all of them) battery apps - they're all!, and I mean all!, total crap. There is not a single app that does what it promises. And all totally fucked up with advertising - including some of the paid apps. Most apps consume more power than they actually save.
The winner of all this shit was the app "Battery Repair", which supposedly repairs broken cells. Well, well.
All that junk should be thrown out of the store. But, no, these crap apps have ratings of 4.5 - 4.8 with millions of downloads. I don't get it.
The only app that actually works is, hard to believe, Kaspersky Battery Saver.
So if someone else wants to "optimize" their battery - forget it, it's not even worth looking for it.8 -

Most QAs are dumb beasts, unable to think clearly or rationally, lazy parasites that suck the lifeblood out of a project.
Except this one guy I work with. He blackmailed the CTO to move, and landed himself a junior dev job.
He joined my team a few months ago.
"Right" says I "forget the crap you've learned so far. Here's a list of algorithm books from Amazon. Order them and read them. There'll be a test at the end."
He did. He is now reviewing lead dev work and merrily trolling their poorly performing work. Speaking to them in Big O (and so confusing the crap out of them) and earning stars at every turn.
I'd like to think I had a hand but all the effort was his.8 -

Group assignment in a software engineering class. Got that notorious lazy kid in my group of four who failed the class in the last term. I was perfectly aware of his reputation, but accepted him in the group nonetheless, because he already knows what needs to be done in the class.
He started to work on his assignment: mostly boilerplate code that didn't even build. He didn't even bother to fix it. I had a lot of time over the Easter weekend, so I decided to just code as much for the assignment as possible for the mid-term submission. I replaced his broken boilerplate stuff with a working solution. I told the others in the group chat about it. Code works and builds, test coverage is high. Everything is fine.
The lazy kid replied to the group chat, that if I'd wanted to code and document(!) everything on my own, I should have told him in the first place. Also got that "fuck off" emoji in the message. So I restored his broken boilerplate stuff using git, even fixed the build errors and told him to explain to me what he tried to achieve, and that I'd be happy to include his code as soon as it worked. Didn't hear anything since. Commits neither.
I guess he was just looking for an excuse for not doing additional work in the project. -
Well it was that moment when I realized how all that shit fits together. So it was that sunny day during summer holiday. Me and I was learning some c++ and I'm like "why the fuck am I doing this. I should be playing with friends". But I was too lazy for shit and you know :)
So it was the second empty can of coffee that day and I was making me a new one while there appeared this little spark in my brain. And I'm like "wait.... I think I just understood how the world is working".
I was so fascinated btw that I spent the whole holidays doing c/++ -

Google wanted to be politically correct and gave faces different colors. But apparently using "black" or "asian" is a shame too so all of these emojies have same name.
This decision was very poor as it's hard to implement this duplicity in frontend so as always Devs choose easiest choice - just use the first one. And first one is always yellow...
Congrats on making whole lazy Dev world using your "correct" emojies enforcing only one face style.3 -
So about two months ago in my consulting firm I was asked to replace a colleague on a project (node and Angular). The project is only a few months old but it’s already a total clusterfuck. DB is very poorly designed. It’s supposed to be a relational database but there’s not a trace of a foreign key or any key for that matter and I’ve seen joins like tableA.name = tableB.description (seriously, that’s your relation??). The code is a mess with entire blocks of code copied from another project and many parts of the code aren’t even used. He didn’t even bother renaming variables so they would make sense in the context they were shamelessly thrown into. The code is at best poorly typed if not typed at all.
During our dailies I sometimes express my frustration with my other colleagues as I very politely allude to my predecessor’s code as being hard to work with. (They are all “good friends" with him). I always get the same response from my colleagues: "yeah but you’ve gotta understand Billybob was under a lot of pressure. The user stories were not well defined. He didn’t have time to do a proper job". That type of response just makes me boil inside.
Because you think I have time to deal with this shit? You don’t think I’m working with the same client and his user stories that are barely intelligible? How long does it take to write type definitions for parameters going into a function? That’s right, 30 seconds at most? Maybe a minute if it’s a more elaborate object? How much time do you think you’ll save yourself with a properly typed function or better yet an interface? Hard to tell but certainly A LOT MORE than those 30 seconds you lost (no, the 30 seconds you INVESTED) in writing that interface!!!
FUCK people with their excuses! Never tell me you don’t have time to do a proper job! You’ve wasted HOURS of my time just because you were too fucking lazy to type your functions, too lazy to put just a little more thought into designing your tables, too lazy to rename a variable so that it’s name actually makes sense where it’s being used. It’s not because you were short on time. You’re just lazy!

The Tale of Mouse and Watch
Once upon a time, a mouse wanted to know what time it was. So it asked the first guy who came along, but it didn't understand Suaheli. Anyway, he just had mumbled, gotta kick the cat in its lazy ass.
So the mouse moved on and nearly got it when it met another mouse who bad been sewn to a dead elephant's ear exactly 27 years ago - but unfortunately, it had forgotten the time of day when that had happened.
The seeking mouse came up with the idea of doing something with the sun, but since it was only dumb mouse, it looked right into the sun and was blinded.
Now pretty desperate, it tumbled through the gutters that were full of trash. Accidentally, it fell over a dumped watch, and the mouse broke its nose.
The lesson: sometimes, even a blind mouse may find a broken watch!5 -
Going through university I was known as the programmer guy, so I sometimes did coding assignments for my lazy ass class mates for money.
Does this make me a bad person?8 -
Since we’re adding new backronyms every day, I propose SIMPLE.
S - Spaghetti: write tapestry of code like a chef.
I - Interlinked: if the project has modules, they should all depend on each other (we are strongest when we can depend on one another).
M - Micromanaged: if the product owner doesn’t expect reports in the daily stand-up, do they even care?
P - Perplex: diversity for the codebase.
L - Lazy: Bill Gates once said “I choose a lazy person to do a hard job, because a lazy person will find an easy way to do it”, for example, without testing, collaborating with team members, or ensuring the feature works with anything else in the codebase.
E - Opinionated: because I believe E should stand for opinionated and everyone else will have to work around this with adapters. But E should mean Opinionated because Uncle Bab said so.6 -
Oh lord it's finnaly happened, I'm almost tempted to leave my retail job after 4 years, fucking head office and lazy ass managers im driving me fucking insane, they give you a 2 person job and complain when you don't have it all done by lunch.
Why must finding an enjoyable job be so fucking hard! -
I just reallized I've done so much photo editing that I made a few tools for it in different apps.
So this morning in a flash of insight, I've made a single app that consolidates them all...
Basically it's just a window that opens all the others by referencing those projects... That was probably the fastest I've ever written an app... other than Hello World.
I can't tell if i am lazy, efficient, or organized... (i couldnt put this in the tag because of the commas)1 -
People who literally ask "How to I translate this code to this programming language/framework" without even attempting to read the documentation should burn in a fire.6

About 4-5 hours ago I wanted to make simple websocket to get input from textarea and parse it on server and somehow got myself into developing in asyncio -> aiohttp -> graphql-core -> graphql-ws -> aioredis
and svelte-> typescript
I still didn’t make the stuff I wanted but I’m very close on backend at least.
I have some frontend part somewhere in my old prototypes so it will be faster if I figure out svelte.
Still don’t understand what the fuck just happened.
Maybe it’s because I wanted try those frameworks for a long time.
All ‘simple’ examples I found have around 20-30 files for backend and same amount for frontend so more then 50 files to get this shit working.
They’re called oh irony “simple chat”.
Now I see why no one fucking understands this shit.
I’m trying to cut mine to 5 files.
I thought developers are lazy bastards who don’t like write code.
But now after this they’re all looking like adhd coders.
Looks like Monday won’t be my best day.9 -

Had to work with a lazy, stupid idiot who (literally) couldn't declare an empty string. Got in via nepotism and not only were there no basics but also no willingness to improve.
Something tells me that throwing someone out shouldn't be a pleasant thing to do but hell, I'm so happy that we can finally stop carrying that piece of dead weight and get back to pure coding without having to teach Programming 101 on the side.4 -
Today, I made an event-based gamepad library.
Although, I was lazy. I am planning on only supporting one controller so the library only supports one controller at a time. Plus, it uses some global variables.
But still, kinda fun2 -

Picked up stress braiding as a habit. Had a full loop Tuesday and after being unable to sleep more than two hours that night, found myself braiding my hair. For five hours. Straight. Was too lazy/tired to undo it, so went to bed with my hair braided. (My hair tends to stay without help, so I didn’t use hair ties or anything)
Today, I remembered that if something takes you five hours to do, it’s going to take you a while to walk it back. Took a couple hours.
Now I look like a poodle.6 -
Saw a counting variable in code. It was a necessary counting variable, so that is not what this is about.
However, this is a US based company that has a somewhat PC (no cursing) and professional cultural facade.
This variable was called "cnt". How the hell did that one not get caught in peer review? I have gotten dinged for having "possibly offensive" variable names (think Point5Hit though I have never written that as a variable name). It was funny. But I have changed it because that's just lazy.9 -

I have this urge to get better at coding and software architecture and design. But fuck me if I'm not lazy about it.
All these crazy good books and lectures and here I am, doing jackshit to improve. Can't even finish my own personal projects. Bah.
I know how I'm supposed to go about it, how to keep engaged in a cycle of personal betterment. I lack self-discipline to do it though... Tried meditation for a time, but haven't really stuck to it. Currently trying to follow stoics (Seneca, Marcus Aurelius and some others), but the mindset is not so easy to adopt, and the practical philosophies even harder.

I specified a requirement where certain bits in a certain message shall be evaluated for certain items. The tester came up to me and talked some BS about how to guesstimate these bits by totally different bits. I said, look up the interface definition, the bits are there. Got an email, same BS. Tester was just too lazy to look it up. So I answered that message ID X has bits 60-63 for the four relevant items.
However, I carefully avoided telling him which bit was for which item so that he knew what it was, but I still forced him to look up the inter fucking face definition. -

On the other hand gotta prep for some interviews next week.... Oh and have dentist this weekend 😚😱😨😰😵 -
One of my trainees some years ago was too lazy to process his networking homework, so he just modified the binary of that cisco tool he would have to use and removed the password prompt at all to access the solutions.1
-
I've been here for almost a year now but was too lazy to sign up. It was only a commute or lunch timepass thing.
But finally few days ago something so frustrating happened that I actually signed up. I dint post it as it would have been immature but now that the plus icon works I finally can post stuff..!1 -
Got told 2 weeks after interview that I came across as "money-oriented" by a company which gives a graduate salary which is 25% above average. They thought I'd only do what they told me to do and nothing more.
Sure, that's why I've achieved 15% above a first throughout my degree whilst not being paid a penny: I'm lazy and in it for the money.
The main reason I wanna be paid well is so that I'm less likely to be surrounded by people who aren't that committed to doing a good job. And if I am surrounded by slackers, at least I got some cash to wipe my tears with. If that makes me "money-oriented" then I'm stuck for ideas.5 -
I don't understand the "Developers are lazy" cop-out. I write things that are concise and clear. Did people write libraries because they were lazy? I don't think so.2

So I'm making an app with a classmate at school, but there's one huge problem. All the PC's and laptops at school are shit. The ICT departement at my school blocks almost everything on them. I can't install any program, open any file and I can't even open the command prompt! So I can't install Visual studio or any other IDE and basically can't do anything besides browse websites that aren't blocked. And they expect me and my classmate to make an app. Fortunately, my classmate has a spare laptop we can use, but it's really difficult for two guys to code on just one laptop. I asked my school if they could buy new laptops or if they could remove they restrictions on two laptops, but they don't want to do any of those things and now we're stuck with just one laptop. I don't know what to do. I fucking hate this!
(This doesn't have anything to do with the topic of the rant, but I just want to complain.)
There are a couple more things I hate about my school. At my school, everyone is forced to use iPads. I don't know why they don't just give us laptops instead of iPads (maybe just because there lazy). So my iPad's headphonejack and homebutton where broken for no reason and I had to get it repaired. But instead of going to an apple store or a repair shop, you need to go to the school's ICT department and get it fixed there. If you don't do that and go to a apple store or something, they will take your iPad and keep it forever! Even though you pay €200 for it every year! Also, the ICT department at my school is lazy as hell! You expect them to repair the iPad themselves, but they just send it to a repair shop. So it wouldn't even matter if I would go to the store myself! 😠 And they even do a really bad job at checking if the device even works after the repair, because I needed to get it repaired three times in a row! And don't even get me started on the bad WiFi connection.10 -
Not leaving my last job earlier.
History: Supervisor / Lead Developer was a complete moron who watched videos on facebook and youtube, engaged in heated discussions on facebook, wasted my time by showing the work of other companies and vines, smoked in the office and towards the end gave me shit for not meeting deadlines of the work that he was supposed to deliver. Project that I was working on had very lazy clients so I was free for even 2 days sometimes and that’s why I decided to help my supervisor on the project assigned to him but in reality I was handling two projects all alone.
Aftermath: My indie games started gaining traction on google play and I found a client and I made 5x my salary at my last job.1 -
I was too lazy to download videos one by one so I created a script to download playlists and rename the downloaded files !
-
There’s a lot of talk about contributions to open source now, and I was wondering what are some of your incentives to contribute?
In the past, the only times I have contributed to projects is when it’s my friend’s or I’m fixing the bugs for that project because the codebase I’m working on uses it. I am selfish right, so why would I go and search for platforms to contribute on when I don’t even know the creators themselves or where it’s used? I suppose if the project was used for altruistic means in some way, I’d be more inclined. Frankly though, I’m too lazy to contribute now, and I’m also super busy to consider it usually. What are your thoughts?6 -
So I wanted to implement a feature in my app, but was too lazy to implement it myself. So I spent the entire day searching for a library that perfectly does what I want instead 😅. Happens to anyone else?1
-
I've been BSing my skillset for so long to myself, it's a veritable toolbox of mixed knowledge but no complete sets...
I wonder if it's too late for me to catch up or if I will ever actually complete any learning...
I am yet to finish learning
Html
CSS
PHP
Ruby
C#
ASM I can do i386 but not x86
VB
Pascal if you can believe
C
C++
Java
JS
Python
Powershell
Bash
My main skill is basically just remembering anything I do, including code syntax and example code fragments well enough to quote at people which makes me a lazy learner. -
I had expected to see people posting about the Valve Index so I waited a bit because I'm lazy.
Since nobody has posted it, here it is.
A few days ago Valve started the pre-order process for their new VR set. I bought one within 5 minutes of going live. They sold out in 8 minutes on the US store and within 25 minutes in Europe.
Who else has ordered/is gonna order it? Why (not)?7 -
Way too much stuff is having a Y2K type date error in 2020! So frustrating that people did not even think 10 years ahead. All this stuff is solved already and not implementing it well is just lazy.6
-
"There's a branch on terraform-our-project called instance-rols"
"Can you send me a link?"
OMG are you really so fucking lazy you can't go to the fucking git web interface, look up the damn project and click on the fucking branch?1 -
I had a bug on two animations for 2 months caused by a fucking svg img lazy loaded with no width/height in between png-s on top of the page... This was the biggest blocker on final qa. Im so done with this shit... 😶

!Rant #lazy
I setup my local server so I can test my apps and to mount my partitions on my www folder in a folder named "mnt" with numbered folders for each mounted partition
So I can access and download my files to phone and other devices from all over the network :)
And even watch movies that are in my computer on my phone or tv
And when I want to sleep I usually watch a movie or one episode of series which is stored in my pc ,on my phone by this method in my bed 😅
So the thing is I'm too lazy to get out of bed and shut down the server and pc
So I setup this file so I can run commands on my PC from my phone 😅😂😂😂
192.168.1.110/server.php?cmd=shutdown now&psw=mypassword7 -
So, I am building this UI library / component system for VueJS and finally finished the first "real" component: button...
I don't want to share the link yet, because I was lazy that this component is still not tested, but hopefully I will get to it...
What do you guys think?

PSA: If you do reverse proxying stuff, prefer unix domain sockets over localhost internet sockets, if it's on the same machine (and if it's forwarded over ssh too). You can even serve HTTP as a unix socket.
Unix domain sockets don't have the overhead of IP, so generally speaking, data will flow to your other process with much less overhead.
I've recently stopped being lazy at this, and it's worth it.3 -
So the guy I replaced as the senior dev on my project (because he was lazy) is now trying to give me advice on how to cleanup my code.... This is the motherfucker who blatantly copies and pastes from one library to another and pushes the code without doing ANY testing and so I had to spend many weekends cleaning up his pile of shit code, and now I have 3 new tickets labelled 'style updates' that he wants me to merge in.... Fuck him, I'm not merging his code4
-
Programmer friend: Dood, do this and this and show it to me, I'll say if it's good.
Me (noob): Okay, sure.
*next week*
F: So why did you stop coding?
M: Why do you think so?
F: You didn't show me your project in a week.
M: I was lazy?
F: LAZY?!?!2 -
Previous company turned from Web Dev E-Mail Marketing into a Service company with more than 50% phone support so I left.
New company, Product focused on web and mobile. 2 months in: Well yeah guys, new strategy. We'll stop feature dev on the web and go into maintenance mode.
That's just great. Thank you very much.
Now I'm too lazy to go through hiring again and just feed my inner rage.
It's hard to keep it in sometimes =__= -
I added a method to an interface. Was to lazy to find all use cases so I just hit Run and waited for the compiler to throw all places where the method is missing. #effectiveJava1

So last year I sent my PC to get a motherboard replacement, as I couldn't be arsed replacing it or even research what motherboard I should get(was dealing with more urgent personal matters).
Anyway, I get it back and everything works good but not the front USB port.. I always found it weird, but also didn't bother to open the case and double check, so I let it go and assumed, since the motherboard was fried, that the USB wires were faulty.
Time passes by and I decide to open the case for annual cleaning job... Turns out the motherfucker didn't connect the port, why?? Fucks knows why... Obviously the wires were "short" and he didn't even try to pull it out further!!! You little piece of shit, for a full year I've been living with a missing usb port, the fucking front facing mother fucking usb port. Fuck.
Moral of story? Don't be a lazy ass and fix your shit on your own!4 -
Few days back, I developed an app for a client where users can buy textile designs online.
The designs to be uploaded on the server must be square to display correctly on the app. so I had to make them square manually (by either pattern repetition or by filling extra space).
I was like "fuck me!", 800 design image to make it square and each takes like 1 and half minute. I did uploaded 30 to 40 images and then...
I got really frustrated and I was lazy to make more designs square anymore.. So I developed an algorithm that would identify the type of design and then it automatically makes it square by self decision.
so that was my little anti-laziness for my big laziness. -
I learned today. I do not know how to connect to an open wifi network from the terminal. I was with some friends in a public place and I was gonna connect to their wifi, but I was at a standstill. I've only ever used wpa_supplicant and dhcpcd to connect to a wifi network manually, so I just..never had to learn any other method of doing it.
I know I really should figure it out at some point, but I'm kinda lazy and it's never come up before.5 -
I‘m curious what you guys think about puzzle games with timers.
I personally hate it to be pressured by the timer. And I hate it when the puzzle resets and I need to start from scratch because I ran out of time.
I prefer to take my time and think about the next move rather than rapid fire my moves by intuition and hoping to get lucky.
Yet so many puzzle games have timers. Is this just lazy design? Do you like timers? What do you think about this?12 -
My worst experience with a designer was when one forgot to design the website mock up for 2 weeks... so I just did it myself. Thankfully I have a degree in both development & design and bullshited my way through it. We were swamped at the time so I wasnt too thrilled to be doing his job. He somehow still has a job here, even though he's lazy and his mockups suck. 🤐😵👎
-
So there is this program with legacy code from 15 years ago the client is in love with. Every time we try to accomplish something it proves that the mf who wrote it was so lazy and incompetent that he should have never chosen this profession. Goto, one-two letter for type and variable names. Dude even wrote an ascii decoder as if he would be payed for lines of code. Today we found a code where a rows of data was misindexed by one (we incorrectly assumed that we could extract some data from it but the column we wanted to use was just there for decoration, it was not actually used). the calculations the system uses are replicated for each interface with duplicate lines of code so the same binary data can show different values because of the multipliers.
If I could I woukd go back in time and bang the guy's head to the desk emphasising each word like "You - should - quit - and - never - ever - write - code -again"6 -
why is it so hard to get a job, why do they make it hard to literally get a job so you can feed into their system and make profit for them anyway. false sense of scarcity makes me so angry and interviews or applications always ask questions completely irrelevant and even after you get a college degree that just makes you have the ability to even apply to half the places. i get that you want the best person, because if you have to pay them a wage at all then they better work for it (get 4 part time jobs and live paycheck to paycheck), but seriously??
humans need to work, it is as natural as eating or sleeping, its such fucking bullshit that the bourgeoisie made working unbearable enough that the few people the government deems unfit to work obviously wouldn't, because working sucks, but then they are seen as lazy. sometimes i just want to go out and do some cyber-terrorism yk ? /j10 -
When you give a basic touch of modern design to a README and critize their replies they end the conversation with
'locked and limited conversation to collaborators'
'We appreciate the effort'
Sure doesn't look like it.
'X is highly specialized software'
Like most other software? And?
'The docs are fairly out of date, and need a complete rewrite, not this kind of graphical adjustment, so it would do more harm than good to present information of how to run this application in a secondary page along with random outdated info.'
So you are too lazy to update them, probably won't for a long time and have a problem with updating the outdated information's design despite that not actually changing the situation.
Disregarding the fact that the 'graphical adjustment' work even if you update the content.
Got it, right.36 -
fucking "premium subscription" is just a reboot of the "bundling" bullshit from the cable companies.
no i dont really wanna pay 4 bucks to rent a shitty halloween flick for 48 hours that i randomly got nostalgia for, nor do i want to pay an additional 8 bucks a month for your streaming service that i hardly use to begin with to include Starz or whatever.
oh a free 7 day trial will get me access you say? oh but of course you need my credit card first just to verify that im real and then conveniently charge me when i forgot i signed up and keep my money after i cancel.
too lazy to torrent. movie wasnt that great either, so not really worth the effort.7 -
Fuck I feel fucked up just for completing user account management, authentication, email verification, password reset. Securing all of this with ssl and checking for any security loopholes.
I can't believe this took me more than a couple months.
Well I was lazy and unmotivated.
I fucking hate crafting stupid ass routes in nginx.
I fucking hate making a nice responsive gui.
I have to design even the stupid html for the emails. Fuuuuck.
So much boilerplate on top of that with username and email validation.
I learnt regex 5 times over the past couple months, still not enough.
And now I actually have to build the functional part.
On the plus side I can reuse this stupid boilerplate if I can make it more modular and readable.
There's shit ton of comments to the point where I feel like an idiot for including so much info. It's like I've written it for a toddler to take over.
Gawd. Anyways it's over now. 50% I guess.
I can finish the rest of the server more quickly and then spend another year designing the Android application.
I'm really lazy in places where I have to design UI/UX. Although at this point it's kinda what could put my application at the top. (I'm lazy, I ain't bad.. I just hate implementing my ideas I wish I could just visualize and have it appear on my screen)
I do like parts of gui that involve little math problems that would make motion smooth and efficient. -
Today was a rather funny day in school. School starts for me at 13:40 because our timetable planners are so qualified for this job.
First 2hrs: Physics, fine its good
Second 2hrs: Discrete Maths (however you want to call it)
Goal is to write a text (30 pages, 10, etc all those standard settings). Teacher prefers Latex over word, but we can do it in word if we want. We could choose a topic, I took primes because it looked the best. I decided to use latex because I'm a fetishist and it simply looks better in the end. A classmate was arguing with our teacher about ides: texmaker vs kile. And I'm like "I use vim". So my teacher is like kk
Later that class, when we actually started doing stuff I started the ssh session to my server because I don't know any good c++ compilers for win and I'm too lazy to get a portable version of cygwin (or whatever its called). So in my server I open vim and start coding my tool for Fermat Primes (Fermatsche Primzahlen, too lazy to actually translate). And this teacher seriously is the best teacher I ever met in my life. Usually teachers are like " dude r u hakin' the school server?" and I'm like bruh its just vim and I'm doing it this way because I cannot code on your PC coz I can't install a compiler. And this teacher is like "oh hey you actually use vi, all cool kids used it in 2000. I first though u were kidding and stuff..." And we continued talking about more of stuff like that and I have to say that this is the first teacher that actually understands me. Phew
Now I'm going to continue writing my 30 pages piece of trash latex doc and hope it'll end good1 -
What is it with shipping websites sending you an email saying "hey, here's your tracking number and tracking URL!" and then that *very same link* saying "this tracking number doesn't exist, it can take a few days to show up sometimes, try again!" I'd understand if this was one knock-off weird company, but it seems to be *all of them*.
Seriously, how hard is it to just initialise a tracking number at the point you send that email so it at least shows a "parcel not yet picked up" or similar message? I know it doesn't make much material difference to tracking but it just reeks of bad UX and lazy / incompetent devs.7 -
Last night I had a dream that knowing how to use Kali Linux was one of the requirements for a job I was looking at applying for.
So I was thinking to myself "hey, I know Kali, I should put that on my resume," but I was too lazy to do it right away, and when I did try to add it, my resume wouldn't compile (LaTeX) because one of the brackets was missing, but I couldn't find where the missing bracket was.
It was weird...1 -
Heads up , not a tech rant
So I now know what you should say if your kid asks what kind of person you should or should not be
So in the picture (sorry it isn’t clear , was taken late night after work) was a common parking area , the bikes parked you see are parked leaving space between at least for 2 more bikes. The owners usually park it that way cos they are too lazy to “properly park”. I confronted them last month and they said they’ll look into it , they have been contacted by various people from my area about this mattter , but it seems they don’t think it matters
So kids , learn to be considerate and not a douche bag , learn to listen and act , not act and listen , and last of all , learn to be a better person , that’s what humans have been trying to do for hundreds of years1 -
In regards to SO being down and the ensuing dev freak out.
To me, that's not a sign of devs using it as a crutch or being lazy etc, but rather a sign that devs are using it as a tool to resolve an issue they have not encountered yet. It's a sign that they are challenging themselves to find a good solution and not a hack, it's a sign they are learning, a sign they aren't just implementing the same project over and over again.
Like Martha Stewart says, "It's a good thing."2 -
Sometimes i feel bored of developing but i wan't to, i don't know how to explain this feeling. Do you guys sometimes feel the same ? Like i have a lot of things to do, i would like to learn new things but when i launch Unity for example i feel lazy, bored of it.
I'm stressing about my further carier, will i feel the same and so, stop developing as a job ?
I don't know if i'm the right post subject, and sorry for my english btw.2 -
Is it sad that I look forward to the weekend so that I can actually write some code rather than:
- Helping clients that can’t / won’t read docs
- Explaining to test colleagues that we need repro steps and can’t fix a bug based on “I was doing something and it crashed”
- Writing any regular expressions for another dev where it’s more complicated than ^[A-Z0-9]*$
- Wading through legacy VBA that’s littered with GoTo, global variables (even i, j and k for loops are fucking global!) and all the other fucking lazy shortcuts that save you 10 seconds at dev time and cost you (which ends up meaning me) hours in subsequent debugging.
I love writing code, and I think I’m pretty good at it, so can I please just get on with it?
Fellow ranters, please tell me I’m not alone in this. -
When I quit my job making multiple bullshit excuses of how tired I am and how much better my life would be if I work from home and here I am been lazy for 2 - 3 months and didn't learn anything new also didn't practice what I know.
Honestly I'm so disappointed in myself and the fact that it was a good opportunity for me makes it harder on me blaming myself. -
I need to finally learn CMAKE at some point
I've been using make for many years now and it's good enough for me so I never bother with trying CMAKE but I can't be lazy forever5 -
While you're typing and you remember this is not the correct password for this account but you're too lazy to backspace all that state of the art you just wrote so you just ENTER the shit out of that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-
Too lazy to properly format input from text file so I just debug the script to see the loaded the lines split into list, and slap in a shittona `.replace([Stuff I wanna remove], "")`
It works tho. -
Seriously fuck Microsoft. I'm not one of those entitled brats but Microsoft can't do anything right. Not even a fucking web page. Seriously what the fucking fuck is this shit? I'm trying to download this fucking driver and every where I look links me to this fucking page. This is just beyond lazy
I'm desperately looking through the console hoping to find this (probably) shitty drivers download link. So damn annoying12 -
I've never written any unit tests for any apps/programs I've developed.
I would tell myself, this time you're going to create some and be a better developer by doing so. I end up just creating the file and that's it.
Most of the bugs are discovered during the user testing phase so I always end up being lazy writing unit tests.
I write very defensive code though so that helps a little but all in all, it's a very bad habit that I need to snap out of4 -
I’m just lazy af, so I spend hours to let something else do the actual work.
That’s why grandpa created farming devices, that’s why I use software to my life easier.
It worked once, I liked it, I continued.1 -
I went to bed and before sleeping opened an app on my phone that controls the music on my PC.
At first glance it looked like something was different so my first thought was "Ooh, they updated the app" and then I remembered that no, I didn't. I'm a lazy sack of crap that didn't update that app in a while and I didn't even implement everything.
On the plus side, I did actually get the basics working so... :D -
Soo today (Sunday) I received a Email from my boss. He wants me to do a fucking huge project done by next Friday.
This "so amazing new idea" exists for like 5 years already. So I said I'd be done this Tuesday. Him not knowing I'll be copy&pasting this all the way 😂😂.
Not that I'm lazy, but just that why should I recreate something that exists for years now.5 -
Actually, the office. Because it's a space exclusively for working.
I did home office for quite a while and still do so from time to time but i get distracted and/or lazy too easily to really get something done at home.
In the office, I have to be focused and so I am for 8+ hrs.
Unpopular opinion: 9to5 is great.1 -
so on android you're supposed to do network stuff like sockets and http requests on a separate thread right. lazy me released an app with a line of code (i forget what it is) that allows me to make http requests in the main thread. rip3
-
So I just thought that we now have all the technologies to create a drone that picks my used coffee glass from my table, puts it in the dish washer and brings me a new one, but we just need someone lazy enough to master these technologies and put it in production 🙄1
-
I just created a wolpertinger.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/...
We have the problem that the number one build tool for scala / java is sbt.
Sbt sucks.
There are many nice plugins for maven.
Sbt can generate a POM from an SBT build.
But the plugins need to be set up, so the generated POM must be modified...
... a POM is XML.
So Python, Pexpect (as SBT needs a PTY and is very cranky regarding exiting properly and running non interactive)… POM XML modification....
Maven - Plugin run.
But we need to do this on... Larger scale.
So, as I'm a lazy mofo, I wrapped the python thingy in bash, mostly because it was simpler than dealing with async / threading in python. Just spawning per project...
So we have Bash, Python, Java, SBT / Maven, hand in hand....
... Is it normal to feel sorry for the build server?1 -
So there is this website called 100daysofrunning.in one of the worst design seen ever. They've a submit page which is another app that opens in an iframe.
If you're part of challenge, everyday you've to submit a form. Distance, time, Strava link, date and it's a pain to do so every day.
On the 50th day they restricted the date to7 days, so you cannot post data older then 7 days.
Being a programmer it would have been insult had i entered data manually.
Thanks to casperjs, meteorjs i was able to automate fetch from strava and post on this dumb page.
One day due an error, the script failed and I've missed one day of data entry. That's 2km of running gone invain and I'm out of the challenge.
Programming has mad me lazy. Screw programming. I should've been a dumb idiot to manually add data spending fkin 30 mins, atleast life would be simple. -
"Ughh, you're such a lazy person. Why don't you finish it instead of making me do everything afger I asked YOU to do it"
I am so fucking done playing family technicman for you. I copied all of your data from your old phone to yojr new one. I set up everything except personal accounts because I respect privacy. You only need to insert your damm sim card.
And don't you even try giving me that "I tried but could not do it, it's just to complicated"
I could buy the same phone, throw it at you and pay the lawyer if I would get one cent for each time you said that.1 -
was developing a custom website for a friend, coz i primised him id do so.
but when i actually developed it i felt lazy midway so i made one table store json strings and used it for every type of data he has on his website.
everything works fine and fast, its nothing he would notice but...
am I going to hell?9 -
Hey folks!
! Do not read further or open this rant if you are likely to be offended!
I always wanted to know but had no nice way to ask so I'm just gonna shoot.
Most of you must have worked/be working with foreign people: canadians, french, chinese, etc. How would you describe those people as colleagues [e.g. lazy, stubborn, chatty, etc.]? The goods and the bads would be perfect.
The topic is sensitive. Please be polite but sincere. This question nor its answers are not meant to offend anyone. We all have our cultural differences, we all have been taught different. I'm just wondering what could I or anyone else expect from each foreign teammate.15 -
Question for iOS users (not that I'm looking into an iPhone, just curious)
What is the general state on app notifications? Because I've just about had it with the absolute fucking torrent of notifications whenever you install some random app on Android.
You install some random exercise app and the next day it will say "so did you get your exercise you lazy fucker?".
You install some random food recipe app and it immediately tells you to get your luncheon going with over a billion recipes (and probably all bad)7 -
Imagine being so rich that you're too lazy to implement payment methods for countries where you product is popular. Microsoft (one drive) and Android (play) was like that for years. I want to pay for openai but it doesn't support ideal/paypal which is the payment method in the Netherlands. Credit card only. Credit cards is so unsafe, I don't understand it's the standard. I won't get one. Is there an api for generating content besides openai?6
-
I built a view engine that relied on V8 for expression evaluation and flow. Not very stable of course, since it used RegEx, but it worked fine for what it was designed for.
The crown feature was the ability to pass in lazy-evaluated huge objects to that view model, so that the view model decided what was going to be used in order to display the view. Made it really flexible, while not sacrificing speed.
I was brainstorming for 2 days about the lazy loading part, and the gymnastics that had to be implemented for this to work.
After I wrote my final line of code and thought that this is it, I launched it, and it FUCKING WORKED! First try!
I was hyperventilating, walking around the apartment like crazy, doing random push-ups just to try to utilize some energy that I felt was fighting to burst out like a xenomorph out of the chest.
... 2 weeks later I found bugs. Had to re-learn how I did it. It's true what they say: if it was hard to write, it's even harder to debug. Fixed it eventually, but that part's not that exciting. -
Told some Devs today, "I've given you information on how to start testing. Java is easy to test. I've explained why it's important. Now, if the next change you make isn't tested, that's a choice. If you make that choice, please consider other places of employment."
So tired of lazy.10 -
In my house I'm the only one who "knows" about tech. My sister and brother, too but they're too lazy to help our mom 😂😂 so I have to help her... The last time was because she wanted to scan a document and she didn't know how. Because we change scanner. So I let everything ready to her and she just had to click on scan document 😂😂 I don't know what she did because when I got home she told me the scanner was a piece of shit 😂 and I had to scan her document

What a time to be alive... when one gets so lazy that one orders freaking Burger King or McDonalds as a delivery service... daymn...
yep. I'm gulty. Had to try it out. Totally in the name of science.1 -
Although iv only been developing in android for around 7 months yet I fail to see the appeal of Kotlin.
It has no real advantage over Java. In my opinion its fucking lazy code. It might look pretty but that's about it. So I don't see why employers are opening their arseholes for people with Kotlin experience.
Im pretty sure they are doing it because its "the next big thing". If you can write solid Java I dont know what the big deal is.. Maybe someone can shed some light on this..
Android studio can convert Java to Kotlin with one click. So No Mr employer I do not see your reason why you employed someone over me because he has Kotlin experience. Its fucked!! So that project I handed you... the one where I had pride in my ability to apply solid Java... Yes remember fucking Java everyone?!... well it works exactly the fucking same and in my opinion is much more verified and readable. SOOOO FUCK YOUUUU MR EMPLOYER!!!!! Go FuckYourStupidLittleKotlinBumChumsRightInTheirShitRiddenFuckHoles!!!!!!

GDPR:
My Pokemon Go account, wired to my gmail got banned. (My fault, I am programmer and lazy person, my inner nature is to automate things. )
So if I go by GDPR I can tell them to delete my account and register with same mail again?
In this example I'll obviously lose the progress but the account can be reused and with some services this could lead to more interesting outcomes.2 -
I am stuck in a loop where I lose confidence in a project and leave it 75% finished (without debugging) while also being doubtful of my skills every time I code and being so demotivated. I have been learning but its a slow process and I keep being lazy about it. I honestly wish I had less stress externally and was able to focus on software engineering more.1

I think instead of being lazy today and sleeping in until 3, I'm gonna spend my Sunday morning early afternoon learning something new or building something short and sweet. Not sure what I wanna go after though! I started getting into openCV but I'm not good enough quite yet for it to be somewhat enjoyable. I am a swiss army knife so I work a lot of stuff but I'm open to anything.6

I live in an apartment building and ordered a DVD from Amazon, 2-day delivery on Friday. So was supposed to arrive yesterday but got a "Delivery was Attempted". I said ok probably the postal service being lazy. Some days they just don't deliver even though they should...
They tried again today but I get notified of the same problem. Now I'm pissed so finally contact Amazon. Turns out they didn't use USPS or any of the big shippers.
I'm going WTF... isn't it common sense... all these rocket science engineers and they can't add a simple if?

So, school is starting tomorrow. And to be honest I am glad, unlike those poor lazy ones who happen to act as if they have more important things to do and education is not for them.
It’s the 21 century morons, sure it doesn’t have to be a regular education. But you are not gonna achieve any without proper study. Unless you wanna be a carpenter or sth, oh even that is being automated now days...10 -
Hi all,
I'm in this company for about 15 months. It's one of the big name company. I'm a senior dev here. In my team we follow agile development. In starting I was just working on my part mostly. Then my manager raised concern to me for not taking ownership and helping others.
I started doing things what I could do. Like code review, API discussion, design discussion etc..
Now, the thing is I usually get upset when people go with 'lazy' solutions because I feel bad design leads to maintenance overhead, and it happened to us in past. We had to spend weekends to make things work. So, I started making code review, design review strict.
Some people didn't like it. But my manager was supportive, or at least I think so.
Some days back manager took me in a one-o-one discussion and told me one of the colleague kinda complained against me.
Now, my manager is not involving me into design discussions and API discussions. There are some new features are coming and I am not informed. I get to know things only in scrum-updates.
Am I about to get fired? I'm not gonna lie, I'm so scared. I can't put down papers as I'm already into 4th company in 7 years.
This thought is just killing me. What should I do? I'm so alone.7 -
This was in 2001 on a legacy AIX core ops server. I got tired of waiting hours for the last page of a print job to debug totals. So, I added a print menu option to print it to an HTML file on a share served up by a wab server and send me the email link. Took two years to catch on but when it did, we eliminated all nightly print jobs and took the paper budget down by 90%. All because I was too lazy to keep reloading my desk jet with paper to debug reports and I forgot to take it off the menu.

Oh... my... gosh. I don't think I've ever been more infuriated by people that talk about how much money their company is going to make. They talk about what they're going to buy, what they're going to do. How everyone they don't like is going to feel sorry for ever crossing them. And then they do absolute jack shit in terms of actually working towards their fantasy company that is going to make them billions. Know why? They're LAZY. It's nice to dream, but be realistic. Fuck. Listen, 90% or more of people are just average. If you don't work towards making yourself great, of course you're not going anywhere. Most people will never be rich. It's just how it is.
Bonus annoyance points for trying to make me do all the work for the company that will make them billions. -_- -
I am SO lazy I can spend the full day looking for a specific tiny npm module that solves a specific problem like concatenating two files.
While doing it by hand would take me 30 minutes and 20 lines of code.1 -

I'll move in with my girlfriend in August. So it's time to get a cleaning robot!
To either iRobot Roomba or Neato Botvac.
Which would you suggest and why? From the readings I've done so far, when it's about performance it's Roomba 980 >= Botvac Connected > Roomba 880, but then again the Roomba 980 is a lot more expensive.
Is there a dev, as lazy as I am with hands on expirience?
Note: there will be only a small carpet below the table in the living room and the appartment will have 4 rooms: living, sleeping, kitchen and bath. As the house is a little older, there's a "obstacle" the doors between the rooms to climb of about 1cm.
Thanks for suggestions in advance. On another note: I'm planing to get connected lightbulps and speakers, so we'll be able to control most of the stuf from our smartphones. So far I don't see any advantages, incorporating a vacuum bot in there, as long as you can set a scedule, any thoughts on that?5 -
Update on my previous rant...
It's currently 9:00 AM and I'm halfway done with the homepage (two more pages to go). I'm too lazy so I'm using a framework to get shit done faster.
I'll post more updates throughout the day -
A friend asked me to set up a system that allows them to see their desktop on their tv and use a remote to wirelessly control it.
Fine, so I set up a system that allows them to interact with their desktop on tv wirelessly with their phone. Once the desktop booted, all they have to do is click one single button to open the thing they need.
Guess what? They come tell me: "This is too much work". What, clicking on a single button is too much work? Now you want it to auto-load too? Right, so apparently this is better: when the users plomps their @#!* on the couch, the OS has to be already booted, the desktop has to be ready and the desired functionality has to be launched. How lazy can you be?
Users can be so lazy.. and I thought I was lazy for not wanting to debug Python to webscrape a website that asked for cookies.2 -
So i bribed a fellow dev/friend who HATES php and Magento... to help me grind out a Magento site while im super behind on a bunch of crap that's mostly boring administrative bs (#ReluctantlyInCharge)
He knew I was coding in python several times over the past several months... yet, despite my near constant griping of formatting bs and high preference of basically anything that doesnt require readability-esq formatting... he apparently didnt get it.
I need to make a quick splash page with a timer on it (other cool elements that i dont think ive ever seen done but i figured why not... weird shit is totally on brand here... like scripting page elements to change and see if people catch on... in very basic ways)...
I know js plenty... but I'd likely have looked up the syntax, was lazy, he loves js (for the intended purpose... he does a lot of blockchain dev) so i asked if hed write me a quick timer line cuz... well im lazy.
He totally overcomplicated it and sends me a page he typed up incl html header. Timer was 3 short block/lines with semicolons... i laughed and wondered why he did all that instead of just the little js... he didnt know either. I told him as a courtesy id make sure to keep the js formatting as he wrote it instead of 1 line...
He sends me 2 examples of a js timer in 1 line... like 1semicolon... i had to show him what i actually meant... 3 'lines' with semicolons on 1 visual line...
He was stunned, then realised i must really hate python11 -
Do you think I can tell my coworker to stop deploying shit so early in the morning? It makes me look lazy8

When you have a long line like this...
if ($obj->getStupidlyLongNamedThing() + $hard + $harder * $hard / $harder + $obj->getAlsoStupidLongThing([$sillyLongExpression, $thing]) > $obj->omgThisIsInsane());
If you're just going to be lazy and break it up however where where ever so it looks like crap...
if ($a->b()
____&& $a->c());
Then I urge you to do one of two things:
* Shut up your face and turn on word wrap in the IDE rather than manually doing it even worse.
* Break the long parts into variable assignments or something.
* (or get a wider screen)
Example:
$a = $obj->getStupidlyLongNamedThing();
$b = $hard + $harder * $hard / $harder;
$c = [$sillyLongExpression, $thing];
$d = $obj->getAlsoStupidLongThing($c);
$e = $obj->omgThisIsInsane();
if ($a + $b + $d > $d);
With sensible variable names.3 -

I used to like apples Autocorrect. I use the english and german keyboard.
but since my main language is english and I only write german when chatting with my family, sometimes I'm too lazy to switch keyboards.
Now the german and english corrections kinda got messed up.
it started to correct my intentions like:
Such - Sich
Nein - Nine
Dich - Dick
Gut - But
Fuck - Duck (don't know where that came from)
...
which can lead to unfortunate sentences.
So I decided to disable auto correct about a week ago.
What I realized is.. it's fucking impossible to type precise on a fucking smartphone without it.
even this rant took me about 10min to write..4 -
I needed to align instruction execution to a 64bit boundary, for custom CPU architecture that I'm building. Basically the ISA had 3 types of instruction lengths; 16bit, 32bit, and 48bit. The core did 64bit fetch from the Instruction Cache, the issue was that if an instruction was in between two blocks of data I needed to fetch two blocks. That would impact performance a bit. So I had to modify GCC sources of the ISA that I'm using. So instead of doing it the right way, I just did it the lazy way and modified the GCC backend to print
.p2alignw 3, 0x00ff, 4
.p2alignw 3, 0x00ff, 2
On each 48bit and 32bit instruction to generate NOPs. And it did work lol. -
Sometimes I'm to lazy to properly abstract and reuse code, so I'll just copy & paste and then alter it - and then later curse myself about that. I'm working on this though...
-
TL;DR: Brainfuck & Abstraction is so cool!
One of my dreams is to make a Mandelbrot Fractal with Brainfuck as the one on Rosetta Code.
I'm too lazy... So i'm writing a Compiler for Brainfuck.
At now i have 900 line of Python code and the operation VAR, SET, ADD, SUB, MUL with nested operation compatibility, IF, ELSE, ENDIF...
Probably i will doing it fast directly with BF but damn if abstraction is so cool!!4 -
So I found about a possible freelance job I could do. I messaged the person and they asked me to show them some of my work. I went into my dusty wamp server folder to use one of my projects there as an example or w/e. It being old and all and me having not updated anything in the last 2 years, there was a lot of bugs I had to fix. So I did that. I had to change some links and whatnot. Then I tried running the site again and that was where I met the biggest hurdle. None of the user generated pages worked because I used a .htaccess file to vanity the website links (is that a word? No? Well it is now). So I went back into the folder to check the .htaccess file to see if I could fix the issue. Lo and behold the file was empty
I had lost the fucking .htaccess. Now I'm stuck and saying fuck it because I can't be arsed to go through each file and change the links mostly bc I forgot the structure of the links ontop of the other stuff I had in the htaccess file. And yeah ik I'm just being lazy but I'm really just having one of those days
So yeah that's how my day went. Just thought I'd share -
Couple of years ago i was working on a custom webshop with a third party designer and a manager. The manager didnt do his job right in my eyes. Didn't have overview of the tasks and was way too busy/lazy/stressed whatever.
Eventually i could go figure things out with the designer myself because he wanted some crazy menu structure.
So crazy i knew for sure that the usability wouldn't come to good.
Eventually deadline was past due and the projectmanager got me fired.
While back the brand i made the shop for went bankrupt.
What comes around gets around eventually.2 -
“Lazy mom lazy wow” presented by Gail Swanlund was probably the most impactful piece of art to me.
Through simplistic form, this art piece presents the idea of caring about oneself and quit the eternal rat race for money. But somehow for its metaphor, Lazy mom lazy wow chooses the notion and aesthetics of death and decay. The closest analogy I can think of is the music of American Football. Some kind of liminal, eerie aesthetics. Also, the movie Gummo and the game Life is Strange, part one.
The piece deliberately avoids being aggressive and celebrating its notion. It’s not “quit the rat race and celebrate because life is so good”, it’s “quit the rat race by putting yourself into coma so nothing matters anymore”. The descent into eternal comfort of realization that you don’t have to do anything anymore, but also sorrow of losing meaning.
It feels like launching Counter-Strike Source in the year 2051, only to walk around cs_office and realize there are no players anymore, and they will not return ever again. The sense of watching an old VHS tape of you having a conversation with your mom in the hospital as she’s counting her last days because of cancer. The sense of comfort of coming back to your hometown. You remember your childhood and your high school crush, only to realize that those moments won’t happen ever again. -
btw I made an instagram account dedicated for my tangram designs ( I do a new one each day for the gf to guess ( w/o the weekends 4 her ) and tought I might as well share them with the not so big world ).
Almost all of them are made by me ( I do copy some from the net if I got lazy or forget to make a new one ( I do them the previous day ) ) so hopefully some of them are not on the net already

Went on a Hackathon with two friends. They didn't do shit. This week, they told me that they only knew c#, so we should switch to that. (I use Linux so I shouldn't have accepted that) Just learned that they are going to a maths camp this week and the deadline is next Sunday. Dotnet core CANNOT PARSE FUCKING JSON. I'll rewrite it in node.js, and hope that I can type fast enough to finish in time. Fuck me, fuck my lazy friends and especially fuck Microsoft for saying that they support Linux while providing a dotnet for Linux published in 200-fucking-56

ok I'll give it this,
because everything is so slow to write in rust and you have to be so methodical and specific,
I think it's giving me discipline
so it's training me to be less lazy over time,
which is actually something I genuinely wanted,
so it's kind of exciting
granted it still sucks that I have to wait on myself to gain the fortitude to be able to write the old stuff I used to, but if I build discipline / fortitude then it wouldn't matter how big a project was, I could maintain making it indefinitely because I'm not sputtering on effectively "junk food fuel" to power myself but managed to refine fuel that can stick for the long haul
my stupid refinery just has to get its shit together first, which is what all the rust training is slowly doing2 -
They asked me what car i drive 3 times. I felt so fucking embarrassed as fuck. How do i say i drive a 2011 fiat punto a piece of fucking trash junkyard 3000$ car while looking them in the eyes and not die of embarrassment. Being so fucking poor is sick and disgusting to me. Published on BBC, GCHQ have set the challenge below. Would make a fun simple coding challenge. My thought is to brute-force, is there a more efficient way to solve it?
"Take the digits 1,2,3 up to 9 in numerical order and put either a plus sign or a minus sign or neither between the digits to make a sum that adds up to 100. For example, one way of achieving this is: 1 + 2 + 34 - 5 + 67 - 8 + 9 = 100, which uses six plusses and minuses. What is the fewest number of plusses and minuses you need to do this?"
Edit: disclosure: I believe the challenge has passed already and I'm too lazy to enter anyway so don't worry about me or anyone stealing ideas!2 -
I'm pissed
Why the fuck do I need to install brew to have AWS' SAM CLI? Couldn't you provide me with an install script or an apt package? Now I have to install linuxbrew (never used it) and pollute my os with crap I'll never use just to have this fucking cli so I can create a fucking lambda function project on intellij idea.
Oh, I can install it with pip. Well yes but actually no. They fucking deprecated the pip package and just gave me a link with instructions on how to install it with brew.

I was praising AWS for their good docs yesterday, now I'm pissed at those lazy fucks >:(11 -
I watched a few reviews for the new nvidia RTX 4070 Ti graphics card. One question on my mind is: why is it so huge?
⏺️4090 is huge -> ok I get it, 450W power is a lot of W
⏺️4080 is huge -> ok I guess, 320 W of power is a still a lot of W; although it should be considerably smaller than 4090 (but it is not? why)
⏺️4070 Ti is huge -> 3 slots size for this graphics card? What the actual hell? This card is rated just 285 W. It makes no sense
I do not get it. The only explanation I can find is that the manufacturer got so lazy they cannot be bothered to design 3 different cooling systems, so they reuse the same cooling system on all graphics cards. RIP4 -
if you're not crazy you're clearly not pushing yourself enough
I got a friend who gets weirdly sentimental about people acting "human", and he defines it as them being irrational
I never understood wtf irrationality meant, but this book I've been recently reading defined it as someone (or an organization) with competing interests that have not been unified yet, so basically hypocrites and chaos / impulsivity and etc
so if you're not irrational you're not human, because you haven't pushed yourself hard enough to grow into all sorts of conflicting angles, and amass karmic debt via hypocritical concepts
be crazy or be lazy
and I'm part of this community I lurk in and I absolutely adore the people in it. they're all fucking crazy, because they push themselves so hard. it's the only place I found that feels so human. I think my friend might be right
not like a place where everyone just complains how hard they push themselves either. God those people are insufferable
but you can see it in their odd personalities, the infighting, the obvious non-rectified principles... but fuck are they driven. like they care about stuff, and they chug along with the broken bits and all. it's just so vibe -
I am lazy to pair my android device to another android device via blutooth for tethering(Pan Access Network) for internet access. Wifi sucks too much battery. Whenever pairing is done, device asks for prompt message stating "yes" or "no" for connection. I want that it automatically by default give permission to connect. Is there any possible solution (maybe through adb shell or something). I have tried every site related to this issue but most of them have unix system Bluetooth issues so no luck. So I’m working on an iOS app and added some ‘lazy var’ turns out I didn’t add them underneath the class.

For a week or so, I have had my alarms on silent on my Android phone. Have been too lazy to figure out what's wrong. Thought that maybe the ringtone file has been deleted or something like that.
Just now I saw these settings where you can set your alarm to SILENT!
WHAT THE FUCK SERIOUSLY? WHY WOULD ANYONE EVER WANT TO HAVE THEIR ALARM CLOCK ON SILENT?????9 -
Just came across this on a forum while researching something:
"
Hello, sorry that I didn't check the TOS myself. I just had this thought and figured it'd be easier to parse for someone with the mental model already stored. I'm sorry if this is lazy, but promise I'll pay it forward.
"
As a dev, who frequently has to build FAQ's, Support forums, make sure T&C's get displayed again when changed etc etc. The above offends me to my very core.
So much so, I have been unable to continue researching, and now fixated on finding some way to make him regret his actions. -

Team Lead (not my team, thankfully) sends outs a team-wide message (in their exact words):
"please DM me with the task link if you are adding any new tasks in Jira. This is to make sure that i am aware of any ad-hoc task coming up in the jira queue and also to make sure that all the task are following a common template."
Interpretation : "I'm just too lazy to look at each jira issue after the last one that I followed up on (which is my job BTW). So I'll add some extra work for you to explain everything to me on DM"
Way to go for killing productivity. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Thankfully, this is not my team. If they were my team lead, I'd be super furious. I'd even report it to upper management. I'd even offer to do their job and let them do mine. I think their job just got so easy if everyone was to go report to him like that.3 -
So we got new keyboards at the office. Turns out mine doesn't register the modifier keys well, resulting in plenty of selecting and replacing text with "z", "/" or whatever key I pressed along with it. You can't believe the amount of times my new toy almost flew out of a sixth story Brussels' window in the last couple of days. Anyway, still too lazy to go ask for a new keyboard.1

Started freelancing via agency as android dev for this client. The product is a kyc mobile sdk with a flow of around 20 steps for identification. My job is to maintain the sdk/fix bugs/add features and so on.
Communication seems to be so fucking terrible.
For example the product owner is not technical and sucks at defining issues.
QA sucks at testing and providing feedback. Backend sucks at documentation and seems to live in a parallel universe, swagger docs are outdated. Previous android dev whom I replaced gave me 2 hours of his time during his last month in the company, answered some questions and then left today (which was release day) with around 6 bugs hanging. Now because we are behind schedule the PO is grilling my ass so I would provide hourly estimates, while I dont even know the codebase yet since I spent maybe 30 hours on it in the last month.
What a clusterfuck. I feel like Im in a kindergaden where people are either lazy or incompetent. It seems that sweet gig of 40 hours a month will become much more hours or my output will be low :)2 -
Struggling to write my Engineering Thesis code. Not because I'm afraid of tech, but because I have no idea what it should do.
I'm testing mobile apps performance, but getting the right idea is pain in the ass. :(
Never been too creative, but always have been over ambitious and lazy.
So the deadline is coming slowly, I have specified my 'tests' (authorization, API connection, heavy calculations, graphics, database handling) and still don't know what my app should do.
And ideas or suggestions what else is to test? -
Someone said that I should optimize the performance of a website. In fact, the problem was the hardware specs and they still want me to optimize the UI. I have less dependencies, no weird event loops and a JSON that is twice as big because the guys at the backend said they're too lazy to optimize it.
So... It's either they upgrade the specs or blame the guys who made the api response.1 -
Why would smn want to use Angular for their project? Its a mess! Its bloated, abstracted, opinionated and so not dev friendly. Its been more than 2 weeks I have been working on AoT and Lazy loading. Dont even get me started on NgModule! Its irritatingly convoluted yet people seem to prefer it. Why? Am I the only one who thinks this way?!?5

Guys, Im here again to tell you this, you will laugh.
*Stand up meeting*

...because IM TOO LAZY TO TEST MY STUFF.
VP ENGINEER: "is it because it's too good that has no bugs? HAHAHAHA (bro laugh type)
ME: O_0 (thinking u better fucking test SOAB) Well, we should have tests in front end, and end to end. THE PYRAMID GUYS?1 -
Just putting it out there..
I absolutely abhor the gesture navigation and new recents app UI on android Pie.
Doesn't make upgrading from oreo to pie on non-rooted phones worth it. (that recent apps view is horrendous)
I thought of writing a post describing in details why this is so bad. But I am too lazy to do anything so fuck it. -
I'm a lazy piece of shit that feels backend code is more important than frontend code (it kinda is though...). But this resulted in me using bootstrap and jQuery in just about every project so I did not have to put effort into it. So this year, I'll ditch them. They've served me well, but they are so bloated and also fuck up your HTML. Removing bootstrap and jQuery for existing projects is gonna be a pain, but I'll try...7
-
Guess who’s back after a few months. I was so frustrated because of something at work today that I needed to vent.
So currently we are working together with a frontend company, we make the api, they do the frontend.
I got a few feedback points, one of the things was that they asked if the dates could be formatted in our language. I said no that’s not really recommend because the api should only handle data not translations or date formatting.
They responded with that it was because of speed... Date formatting is literally a few fucking milliseconds. Technically it is even slower serverside because the fact that I need to process it in a serverless function which is probably less powerful than the average client machine.
Fucking lazy fucks.9 -
So today I did the weirdest use of REST API I have ever seen. Was working on a little electron app for a friend using angular as frontend. I didn't want to use the standard title bar so created one for me in angular. But to hookup the close button with actual termination would have required more effort than my lazy ass was going to put. So I just created extra route to use browserwindow.close() function. And it actually worked good.1

For those who knew, my computer crashed https://devrant.io/rants/625625/...
Now I have to set up my computer for ionic and angular and native script and whatever.
It's a bit tedious...
I'm lazy I like visual studio... All ready. -
I have never used Docker and/or Kubernetes. Motivate me to use it by telling me how cool it is.
I want to build a complete ci-pipeline but am too lazy to start... there is so much to do, and I don't know where to start.6 -
My fucking lazy-ass coworkers haven’t made meaningful progress on anything for months. I’m brought in as the tech lead and these stupid fucks didn’t work on any meaningful shit for literal months. Their manager was asleep at the wheel and their old tech leads apparently need months to make a couple of minor database changes.
So I’m brought in to fix it, and… surprise! They’re still lazy pedantic assholes. And they’re shocked - shocked - that people expect them to start completing a project or two per quarter. Like these dense motherfuckers thought that they could be the most annoying pedants this world has ever seen, and also do no work.
I could have done their whole 5 month project myself in a month. No joke. It’s incredibly simple. But somehow the overhead of coordinating people who A. don’t work very hard and B. assume that every ticket needs special attention and 6 hours of ponderous thought has eaten into the time we have.
I don’t respect them in the slightest. They’re such shitty developers. Whoever signed off on their hire was fucking high.6 -
Being so damn lazy to even attend one. And I don't really like that it's kind of a competiton. These things, sadly, tend to lure morons, which in the end means that you spend sitting in front of a pc with complete strangers without any motivation.
Or am I only being pessimist too much? -
I'm a beginner web developer - and I've run out of motivation / inspiration.
I'm a lazy teen who wants to be a web developer. Everyone and then I will start some project - and probably never finish it 100%. These last weeks I am really out of motivation or inspiration to do anything. I've learned a lot of things and I want to make something, I wanna test my skills. So - is there any place I can seek for inspiration on Front end web development? Or just if you need some help with any front end project - contact me.10 -
I'm so tired when I got up. Didn't sleep much last night. Working on a Sunday night till 2AM because I did not work the week on the project I was given.
This is not happening for the first time, I sleep late around 3AM to do my work, as day is too noisy and distracting. Attend some meetings during the day and get lazy in the evenings. Work during nights and then the next day I'm all tired for daily stand up.
How do you people tackle this schedule? I need serious advices.5 -
*When I have lots of free time to code*
My mind: I am so tired for working... Let's finish those project some other time dude.
*When the day before my exam*
My mind: Hey! You have some unfinished projects...Come lets finish those. Don't be lazy...1 -
Why why do people bother making so many lazy Stackoverflow spinoffs? Who would ever want to read that garbage low effort websites?6

What keyboard macros do you guys use when you have programmable function keys?
Also a funny little story that I just remembered. My brother used to have a key that would type his password cause he was THAT fucking lazy. He was writing an NPC for a private Ragnarok Online server that I was testing with a couple people. Apparently he had hit that function key in the middle of an announcement command.
So basically, everything went as planned, but then while announcing an event, it would announce his password to THE ENTIRE SERVER. Lucky for him, there were only three of us online at the time, and we told him as soon as it happened.2 -
Not really an impressive one, but I think it's blasphemous enough to be mentioned:
Creating an embedded application, it was not supported to print a float using optimized libraries (understandable since they're not really supposed to be used anyways), but I was too lazy to convert clocks to a time unit by hand while running benchmarks. So I just printed the float as two integers, splitting it to one for the whole and one for the thousands. -
why kotlin so special? everyone loves it. i as a senior java developer am sooo goddamn lazy to learn a new language just because of the hype. why is it so overhyped ?11
-
So i started writing a long ass rant and then i got busy followed by getting lazy and i feel the rant has lost its meaning now :/

I get so tired of people hating on PHP, Javascript and promoting Python or C#/Java.
Python is basically Perl with slightly different syntax plus has py2/py3 issues. And suffers from pip like js does from npm.
Java/C# started as application languages, while PHP started in web servers (again from Perl but at least it now has full object support). So comparing apples and oranges is one thing.
Another one is that people don't seem to know much about PHP / js (and tbh not even about the languages they are promoting) when they try to hate. That just comes off as lazy and borderline idiotic. Don't be that guy.
If you have had a bad experience, maybe you need to open the documentation instead of copying code from stack overflow.
Again, lazy and unprofessional.
Devs are supposed to be able to find the most efficient solution, that takes as little code as possible, not as little time from them when they arent familiar with the subject.
Damn Im angry right now, this rant really worked me up! :D6 -
I was looking for a RRule Generator Component in ReactJS because I (a back-end dev) am lazy af to build front-end component. It drains my energy and I stumbled upon "react-rrule-generator". And holy moly. It is no longer maintained, but it has a very beautiful code. Then I thought, I should search more open source projects where code is clean so I can learn more.
So, do any of you know any open source project, library code or whatever that you think has a very clean code?3 -
So my boss tells me that industry standard for serving images is that you have one image on the server that is approximately 3x larger than the largest size you need it to be and resize it on the client side as you need. However, a lot of the tutorials I have seen online lead me to believe that is not true. Is it? Because I have to serve up a whole lot of 150kb images for something I didn't even want to do in the first place and it's causing serious performance issues, even with lazy loading.5
-
Or company banned DourceTree so everyone had to switch to just using git shell.
Except me... I installed GitExtensions which is allowed.
I can't decide if I'm a git noob, better at being lazy, or more efficient.
I do use she'll for certain things like deleting, listing branches but for commits and resolving merge conflicts... still prefer gui9 -
i have this project from my friends. Its been so long since then and i am still very lazy to complete that app and give it to them. now they have given me deadline and i have to give them on 22nd October 2018. They are my friends, so that's why i have been lazy.1

Sometimes I am so lazy bored, that I am copy pasting letters with my mouse so I can type, instead of using my second hand.
-
Just resolve an error by deleting the values that were causing it that I have no idea how they got there in the first place.
Can't wait for this to happen again.... -
A few days back, I was battling to setup a spring app the old fashioned way. By that, I mean the way I'm used to securing routes in laravel and indicating model relationships. For the most part, I'd gotten used to the authentication config more than my first experience with it
But the jpa/hibernate relationship mess? Honestly, it's insane. If I can only access the relationship if I let them be defined eagerly (which stupidly breaks due to circular dependencies during deserialization btw), what's the point even bothering to define them there? Might as well pretend the relationship doesn't exist and strictly use IDs on belongsTo. That's it. At the time, it felt like Very sick, amateurish stuff but I'm calmer now so it's just disappointing. How come the framework is so popular??
They haven't figured out migrations, lazy and eager load, hydrating models while evading the circular dependency trap, etc. These seem so rudimentary in eloquent, I don't even have to think about it1 -
After a damn amount of time I've been considering it (a lot of data in there and I'm lazy), I've finally wiped the android clean (dalvik+cache+the rest). Happened exactly what I was expecting:
All in-app errors (even devRant feed) magically disappeared. So, if you experience something like that, don't be lazy and wipe.
Also there's speeding up of the system and other pros of wiping, but those aren't that important like getting rid of errors ^^5 -
People replying to a restaurant ad on Facebook asking where the restaurant is located (not related to dev but I built the restaurant's website and have access to Facebook admin stuff). Saying things like "It would be helpful to post the address." Bitch, it would be helpful if your lazy ass could do so much as simply fucking click the Facebook page, visit the website, or just fucking Google the restaurant (it's a very unique name and cuisine, especially for this area) and you'll find the address in a split second. Some people can't do shit if the information isn't shoved in their face in big bold flashing letters... even then I don't have hope for people like this.10

I'll need to do a survey on how different frontend frameworks support asynchrony, both in data and component loading.
I have a very powerful lazy loading primitive for React (https://github.com/lbfalvy/... ), but it's a bit broken so I'm rewriting it into a stateful TS class (because it would have to allocate a lot to be immutable and fast) and a React shim. I'm considering adapting it to other frameworks that struggle with code splitting or async data, or perhaps - like react - only ship a built-in solution that requires unrelated business logic to acknowledge the frontend framework.
Are you happy with the workflow of using asynchronously loaded data in your frontend framework of choice?1 -
Bought a Chromecast audio so I can get sound in my bedroom instead of blasting it from the living room where my computer is (I put music from my PC on timer when I go to sleep). Since I still use Winamp 2 had to install an app to send my Windows audio to Chromecast. It works. Already programmed a remote from my phone to turn off the lights, monitor and set the timer... Now I'm too lazy to program a remote for Winamp which I just know I'm gonna regret not doing at some point...

Some people were lazy so they added throws Exception to all the methods up till main. No catch clause....1

So i wrote complex, great WP framework using parts of nette, latte template engin, shit tons of my code, has many usefull features. Is fast, puting barier between me and WP shit. You have no idea how fast my development is now.
Now, i writing eshop component, looking good, working great, is extendable, fast and so.
Reason 1: WP is piece of shit, woocommerce too, CMB has no fucking sense, fuck ACF and many other WP tools.
Reason 2: I'm too lazy to read.
Question: I spent months of coding, looking for ideas, and make tenths implemenations because:
1: WP is piece of shit, woocommerce too, CMB has no fucking sense, fuck ACF and many other WP tools.
2: I'm too lazy to read.
Please decide, i honestly don't know.1 -
Hi, so I’ve made a site where I upload small(very) projects I work on in my free time, they aren’t huge animation based rocket ships , rather small but handy stuff like basic light-weight alert boxes.
Now am thinking if any one of you guys have some amazing plugins or things you wanna show, but are feeling too lazy to upload, I can give you a sub domain like awesomesheet.simplecode.in(you’ve to upload the files somewhere like 000webhist)
Just let me know in mohit@simplecode.in
So here it is.
https://simplecode.in
This was made in 2-3 days, so please be kind.
The place is still under construction2 -

I'm a starting programmer. So when my supervisor asks me to write a report and test against 50 coordinates written in little endian hex form in excel, I got lazy and wrote a code that gives me all the coordinates in decimal to be input into my excel program.
Anyone know an easier method tho? -
Does anyone else sometimes make customer support people do things that you're just too lazy or don't want to do?
I'm especially bad about this if I'm looking into a service and they have a chat person that pops up. Since you bugged me while I was trying to do my research, how about you just answer all these questions I have so I don't have to click through your site. -
So I'm tasked with creating a single sign on link using documentation from the third party we are logging into. So far so good.
Well they don't support some of the fields our users will need--that we don't want to support (otherwise why use a third-party?).
Their solution is to make us the system of record so that when a user goes through the single sign on we pass this info as well. But it needs to be editable on their side well--because they won't give us an API for our system of record to update their side.
That's right only a user signing on from our system will update their side. Tough luck admins on our side. You get double duty due to the poor business decision to work with a company with lazy devs. -
Do any one feel so lazy to start write test especially for a complicated bug fix?
My problem is with starting2 -
So I have an upcoming exam. I'm too lazy to review. I'll just rely on stock knowledge lol goodluck to me

So I've been working on a game for the past months (if I were to add up the time I actually worked) and was really self-concious that it isn't good enough to pass for a demo. I then spoke to devs who were showcasing their games and said they've been working on them for 1.5-2 years. I suddenly no longer feel bad and like a lazy piece of shit.

Is it a good practice to use inline styles?
I'm always lazy to add a new class to a new div. So I just write css, inline.9 -
Supposed to code a new trading formula given to me by my boss into the system I'm developing, I understand the formula and know how to code it out, but the thing is
I'm so lazy to code or do anything since the last 6 hours.
What do you guys usually do to break this laziness issue?1 -
Are programmers so
1. Busy to skip to get the time for shave, (long hair and beard),
2. Or lazy to skip.
3. Or don't find it as a need.
Sorry for poor English4 -
I literally create a template of flutter project with state manager (provider) . Other words, I hate setting up a new project in flutter every Fking time. So I created a Cli (written in dart) app that flutter create something something and delete the main.dart and download the templates from my source from GitHub. Like a few folders and files.
Yes...I am this lazy2 -
I am stuck!!
I don;t even how to write :(
I mean does anyone have shit talk about android studio ? Anyone?
I have to work with android studio or so but I am feeling very lazy to get it installed and setup. I am working with expo and I was so happy that simple React native is working!! But now for few libraries I have to installed android studio They wont work simply with expo go :(
I am thinking will it be worth to go through with these installation and setup.. :(
Thank god!! this is my own work so I can search and do my best in research avoiding installation. But I feel like if I have to work with mobile apps sooner or later I have to install proper setup, Wish there is a way I am searching for solution since morning and no luck yet :)
Will search in night too2 -
Trying to learn some C# with graphical interface, thinking on doing pacman, snake, breakout or some other game but don't want to use an engine like unity.
Windows forms is windows exclusive so i was trying to learn something cross platform. Since i'm using linux and vscode, disk space 8s not a privilege i have access to... (lazy)
Any good reference/tutorials/advices on where to start?7 -
I love starting and working on new projects. But as soon as projects exceed their deadlines, I start to get so bored and lazy to actually continue working on them... I haven’t yet been able to overcome this.2

Orchid lesson #many:
Church tuples exist only to demonstrate how general substitution is. Just like Church numerals, they aren't meant to be used for real computation and cause a lot of problems. Few type systems and fewer optimizers can deal with them, they're a pain to pass through FFI boundaries, and they're much slower in an interpreted context than a native smart array. And in a lazy language the tuple is almost always lighter than the code that generates it, so you want to generate the tuple eagerly and thunk the actual elements, if thunk you must.
I'll go write a vector based tuple and end this madness tomorrow. New version soon, probably.

I swear low serotonin depression is a superpower
I don't know how but it's always just somehow really awesome for my brain
and before I equally didn't want to get up out of bed so basically no difference between being happy or depressed, functionally!
I think depression makes me think better actually
if you're mentally lazy, just get depressed! BRAIN TREADMILL! -
Unlocking your potential takes time.
Throwing away time is so easy to do and we are all guilty of it. How much of your time have you wasted not living up to your potential? The answer is brutal and may overwhelm you.
You have probably wasted some of your time but at least you haven’t wasted your whole life, yet.
You still have time and that’s the best reason to stop wasting it and unlock more of your potential. It hurts to know you have been lazy or procrastinated, but it hurts even more to ignore that fact and pretend everything is great.

Don't you just fucking love it when you ask a question or report an issue on gitHub, and they back-handedly slap you with a "that's a coding question, do it on SO", and wham they close the issue.
how fucking anal and lazy would you have to be?1 -
I have to participate in this retarded conference for 2 days and then I will have to join this fucking summer gathering on my weekend and that will take whole day. Fuck this fucking corporate bullshit. Better give me a fucking raise or better yet start fucking managing this scrum team because half of devs are not pulling their fucking weight.
Fucking BA too lazy to update issues with new details after grooming so each time I pick a new task I either have to somehow remember what we discussed weeks ago or I have to spam you with questions so you would run around like chicken without head while gathering answers to questions that were already discussed because you are too lazy of a fuck to compile notes. And even that is not enough, my merged MR's apparently dont cover all the use cases because your'e too incompetent to even figure out how our app works and define properly the task.
And then theres supposedly a techlead dev whos not taking a ticket when theres 3 days left till end of the sprint and he goes: "But a task spillover will happen!!!". Yeah so I guess just sit on your ass and wait for new sprint so you could pick yet again another low hanging fruit task and marinate it for weeks.
Motherfucker I checked your MR's in the last 6 weeks you did 1 week worth of work. You are a techlead but your only dev colleague is asking us for help daily because you dont even help him Fucking lazy and incompetent bastard. -
Arrgh...
I need to do a lot of refactoring and testing (%80 percent of which is integration) and ITS SO TEDIOUS!!!
Now, for anyone who says "oh, you write spaghetti code, your code shouldn't be so tedious to refactor". No. It's only tedious because it's a few thousand lines that I've been too lazy to refactor till now, and I need to go through it all.
Anybody have any advice for refactoring or testing in Go?17
