WHY THE FUCK IS IT SO FUCKING HARD FOR THESE CUM SUCKERS TO UNDERSTAND THAT CHANGING REQUIREMENTS 2 DAYS BEFORE THE DEADLINE IS JUST GONNA BREAK EVERYTHING!?!?
I DOUBLE DARE ANYONE TO TELL ME ITS NOT WORKING TOMORROW...
STUPID MOTHER FUCKER PMS CANT PLAN ANYTHING6
Rekked/insulted a client so hard today in a way which was obvious for me/colleagues but not for the client that the colleague sitting next to me completely fucking lost it. (client did not detect/notice it)
That's entirely fine as he was not too loud but his laughter is so fucking contagious that he went outside to make sure that I wouldn't catch it any worse while on the phone.
God damn it took some serious self control to not completely lose my shit xD (it only partly worked 😅)19
Sister comes into my room
"Can you look at moms laptop, it stopped working I'm scared I broke it"
"Idk it just stopped working, all I did was install adobe flash player I dont think that could do it could it?"
Take a look
"EFI IPV4 0 (error code) failed to boot"
Weird. Enter bios
"Hard drive: [Not detected]"
Well, that's no bueno
Pop open back, hard drive is loose
Pfft, push that fucker back in
Boot -> works
"Mom is going to kill me I broke it im so worried" -> relieved laughter
For fuck sake, one small bug and my app immediatly gets a 2 star rating. HOW ABOUT YOU REPORT THE FUCKING BUG TO ME SO I CAN FUCKING FIX IT. MY EMAIL IS IN THE GODDAMN DESCRIPTION. HOW FUCKING HARD IS IT TO SEND ME AN EMAIL INSTEAD OF A WORTHLESS RATING.13
Interviewer: How will you solve the travelling salesman problem?
Me: *explains the solution on whiteboard*
Interviewer: It is slow. Can you do it in linear time at least?
Me: It is NP hard so it is not possible. For a restricted case, it may be possible
Interviewer: You are stupid. Do not apply again.11
The office toilet chronicles - episode 2
Someone here has a fucking sprinkler where they should have a penis. Is it so hard to aim? Or fucking sit?5
I love coding
But I hate coding
But I love coding
But I hate my buggy IDE
But I love coding
But my back hurts from all that sitting
But I want to work on my side project
But at times, it's frustration.MaxValue
But anything remotely related to coding I find interesting
But it's so hard to abide by good practices
But I love coding
But progress is so fizzlingly slow
But I love that elegant solution of the other day
But it took me 57 attempts to arrive at that elegant solution
But the shit I'm building is so cool
My friend: My laptop is not working. Can you please fix it?
Me: Ok. I will take a look at it.
*After 1 hours*
Me: I think your hard disk has failed.
My friend: Can't you fix it? You always spend day and night on your computer. So, I think you can fix it.
Me: Sorry. I can't.
*Next day I went to his home*
His brother to my friend: You said he is a genious. He can fix anything related to computer. He can't do anything. I will take it to a best repair shop in the area.
Me: *walks out of his home*11
You is not gonna beliebers what just happened lol
So a couple weeks ago I earned a stress ball (300+ ++'s) I sent an email about it but never got a reply, so I decided to just forget about it. But then I just ranted (lastnight) about how its so hard to get a stressball. So I basically just said "fuck it i'll buy one". Then some dude comes along and is like "omg not until he shows us the bought one" so I'm like CHALLENGE ACCEPTED and buy one...
Then I get an email confirmation from devrant store confirming my order for the bought stressball. And I notive that my spam folder has unread messages in it. i look inside the spam folder and what do I see?...
I see dfox replying to my free stressball request weeks ago lol. So yay, now I gets the 3 balls (or two - depending) lol omg, so many balls.20
PM: Please get this done by tomorrow. It's just a small change.
Dev: No its not that simple.
PM: Why is it not simple? Please explain so I can understand.
Dev after a hard thought finally explains: blah blah blah
PM: Well, we have promised the client so please do this by tomorrow, thanks.
It's so fuckin hard to work with people who don't get sarcasm or humour.
The UI guy gives me design (which is a regular design, not something unique)
Me: “wow fresh and unique design (obviously sarcasm).”
Designer: “thanks, I worked on this whole day. Glad you like it.”
Now I feel like a terrible person.6
After weeks of hard work creating a website:
It looks so beautiful 😭
*opens in a different browser*
WHAT THE HECK! why is all my divs flying here and there !
*opens in mobile*
My girlfriend brought me her laptop at the hospital so I could code. Hello self project.
It is fucking hard to type while being plugged from fucking everywhere!10
I am fucked.... 😫😫😫My new custom build pc is not starting up after lighting strike 😭😭 ... I had unplugged all the plugs from the socket but i forgot to unplug the wifi from the broadband cable.... So when lighting hit my building the current came through broadband cable and burned my wifi then through there it got to my pc... My motherboard, gtx1070 graphic card, ram everything is gone.... Except my hard drive and psu...17
why is it so hard to convince people to start using slack chat and giving up sending internal emails?10
Yet another rant about crappy electronic designs.
Just now I was cleaning my desk and stumbled upon some old hard drive in a caddy that I still had laying around.. I figured, let's plug it in and see whether the drive still works. And to some extent, it does! Except that every few minutes it craps out on me. And after disassembling the caddy, I think that I know why.
Just as background information, hard drives work at 12V and generally require about 10W to spin their motor. Meanwhile USB operates at 5V. So a boost converter needs to be present in the controller to step up the voltage and power the drive.
Now what's a boost converter? It's an inductor, a capacitor, a transistor and a diode in a specific arrangement (if you're interested in the design, check out https://youtube.com/watch/...), along with feedback circuitry to stabilize output voltage. Now that transistor is important.. it switches at very high frequency, and its rise and fall times create heat. In the particular transistor used in that controller, it apparently causes the transistor to operate at 65-68°C. That's quite toasty IMO, and overheating may be why the controller is so unstable. But the Chinese manufacturers thought that it's just fine and okay to be sold without heatsink or some research into transistors with better rise and fall times.
So the hard drive craps out on me and yet again it's because of certified shitdesigns. MOTHERFUCKTURERS!!!!27
Really, I hate this composer / bower / npm shitholes!
Why the hell is my app 300MBs?!? Because that shitty pudding composer decided to download the ENTIRE git including README.md, examples, 5 hours of assembly-giraffe porn, my granny's pajamas and two wraps of kebabs!
How hard is it to define the folder that contains the REQUIRED library so that our project might stay at 5MBs instead of 300?18
"Everyone knows that debugging is twice as hard as writing a program in the first place. So if you're as clever as you can be when you write it, how will you ever debug it?"
- Brian W. Kernighan (The Elements of Programming Style)5
Why do users find it so hard to understand short and clear error messages that are in place to inform them what's going wrong? Why do they instead waste my time when the message clearly says that the password is too short and hasn't got any special characters? FFS!4
so I've just made an experiment. Booted up my now dust-free PC w/ an old LMint 17.1 installation, opened up terminal, full-screened it and opened vim in edit mode.
Sat my 1.5 year old on my lap and gave him the keyboard.
10 minutes did not pass and the kid was back in the terminal!
so whenever you say VIM is hard to use -- SHAME ON YOU! My toddler learns faster than you do!26
Honestly I gave Apple a chance and bought an iPhone but oh my fucking god i’m going to throw this overpriced piece of horseshit they call a phone so hard at steve job’s grave that CNN is gonna report it as a meteor strike7
Broken app is broken again. This app is broken so often and so hard, I'm struggling to give a damn.
These fuckers need to take their shitty project, code and managers especially, and launch them into Mars
They blame us and everyone else for their shit and I'm done with it. I need to sleep and not have these fools call me at all fucking hours.6
If some yampy bloke ask me bout the origin of my username again imma shove a can of ice cold monster™ energy drink up em ass (: Is it hard to look it up?? (Dont look it up tho, it porn)
So it a funky ass breakbeat/chiptune kinda album. Sod off.18
My previous manager: "Your code should hard to read, so our work is cant stolen by everyone".
My previous manager: "Just do it"
So, anyone can answer my 'Why?' question?
P.S: My previous Manager is PHP Programmer13
I am interviewing people for a job position with python knowledge.
My first question is how to reverse string and second one what’s the difference between set and list.
So far no one knows.
Fairly speaking I am asking only basic questions about what is decorator, generator, lambda. Also some basic data structure questions.
Is it to hard ?
I lost my faith in humanity.15
Tripped over the LAN cable in my corridor, almost fell. Went to bed only to notice that I left my phone on my desk. Phone is my alarm clock atm, so stood up to get it. Went well until tripping over that damn cable again. Stubbed my toe hard on the bedframe, still cursing now.
I regret deeply not just configuring the Wifi. D:7
So fed up with this "Linux is hard to handle"-bull. If you want to do things the hard way, sure. But if you install a normal distribution like Ubuntu it's as close to "just works" as I have seen. Sure if you want to compile everything yourself into your perfect system it can be hard, but on windows or mac that's not hard, it's impossible.13
Why is it so damn hard to get publicity for an open-source project? I mean it's almost impossible to get anyone to even notice you. I've been trying to promote my project in every kind of social media imaginable and still I can't reliably get 50-100 unique visitors to my Github repo in a day. I thought writing the code was the difficult part, but clearly the no-budget marketing is what will be my demise.23
To the people that create compilers.
Is it so goddam hard to tell me which fucking object is Null?13
I'm a die hard ViM user and throughout the years I managed to put ViM key bindings in everything, from browser to even my cell phone for some reason (back in the day if I had the opportunity to put them in the fridge, I would have put them - people would have a hard time closing the door, though)
The thing is that it had become a liability because I see that, even though I "work really fast and efficiently" using this tool, when I have to use other things, like a different shell (I use zsh with some ViM sauce) or type in another editor, it sucks so hard.
Everything is wrong, nothing works, the typing is a mess.
Now I'm trying to force myself to use Vscode and I removed all those extensions from my browser and shell. It is uncomfortable, but the idea is to "rewire my muscle memory", if there is such thing.
Today i touched bash scripting. and i must sya its actually not as hard as everybody says it is. Friend said it was hard as fuck but i did loops, if, while and etc and it isnt that hard so far. Yeah sure hard stuff gonna be hard what the fuck do you expect ? I might actually continue on this little script.
Oh and yeah the script is for my school. We have a pretty good router in here it costs about 500$ and i played with it today. Created network scanner for my teacher to simplify the work.6
Became an uncle to two beautiful girls the other week. But the plan to make them the future tech support of the family is already in play! Hopefully they will exceed me in about 10 years, I'm a front-end dev so it shouldn't be that hard...
Why is skids trying so hard when it comes to talking shit about Windows? Do they think that is it the only way to get accepted into the GNU/Linux community?
Personally, I think people who does that look stupid and dumb.8
Why is it so hard to read a 15 pages paper or article? I read hundreds of fiction pages or news in a day, but reading 100 lines of a scientific paper is a pain in the arse and I lose concentration by line 3.
Why is it so hard for a person to admit that they're at fault and listen for a change,
For the nth time I told a certain developer to install a git gui, the answer is always the same,
"It's such a hassle to install one"
You know what is a fucking hassle?
Fixing your fucking mess is a hassle,
Resetting the wrong branch you overwrite is a hassle,
Cleaning up your merge conflicts is a hassle,
And doing all of the above just before going home is a fucking hassle,
Fuck it, it's only a couple of days before I left for good anyway,
What manager says: You should support IE because a very large portion of our userbase is already there and they somewhat comply with web standards so it shouldn't be that hard. Also most good sites support IE so we should support it too.
What web developer hears: blah blah blah SUPPORT IE blah blah blah SUPPORT IE10
I'm planning on writing an open source (and much improved) version of my logger, but I'm stuck on picking a name :<
So, anyone have naming suggestions for a tagged and branching/nesting logging library? (ES6)
(I don't think "deforestation" is a good choice. sounds kinda bad.)23
Anyone else has this feeling that every tutorial ever explains basic things in minutae details and then in parts that are actually unintuitive and hard it does not explain anything?
Case in point Angular 1.X
Now, i feel pretty confident with my ng knowledge, but it still looks like there is lack of balance to docs/tuts, it shows up in questions ppl ask on irc etc.
So I don't think it is a question of my subjective viewpoint.5
PHP is my main language, but I haven't had a single problem with it yet.
Nodejs it is.
How can you possibly make it SO GODDAMN HARD to just implement ANYTHING synchronous. THERE ARE REALLY FUCKING GOOD REASONS YOU *WANT* YOUR CODE TO STOP EXECUTION WHILE DOING SOMETHING
EVER HEARD OF HARDWARE PROGRAMMING? YEAH, APPARENTLY NOT
so if guys read my prev rants... this is it im quitting my job got a better offer coz my current company blocked devrant started last week i was like wtf 1st thing that my future employer asked me what will make you happy i said "dont block sites that are helpful for devs" he lol'ed so hard btw just got it today thank you so much devrant my macbook and laptop will now look really cool7
Why does every single and small update need to be at least 5GB? And why am I required to update you so fucking often? You are not fixing anything, so don’t even pretend to! Most of the time it is just to support the latest .x update in iOS. Can’t be too hard to update the SDK without updating the entire shit IDE! 😡
And guess what: I JUST UPDATED YOU, SO WHERE IS YOUR FUCKING NEW VERSION??? HOW CAN I WAIT 45 MINUTES AND AFTER THAT YOU DID NOTHING!?! HOW CAN I HAVE THE SAME VERSION AS BEFORE??? NOW I HAVE TO DOWNLOAD YOU AGAIN YOU FUCKING PEASE OF SHIT 😡😡😡1
"Your password is too long or too short."
Uhmm yea... well is it so hard to check if it's either too long or too short and just to say both?3
Recent experience (#2)
- a cousin wanted to reinstall Windows on his laptop
- gave it to a tech shop
- they couldn't, said hard disk faulty
- I took the laptop hoping that it's just a partition table issue
- I tried changing partition table from MBR to GPT, but failed
- removed his hard disk from his laptop and plugged into mine
- tried and failed
- so I thought I would give it a chance with Ubuntu
- tried and ... 👍
- reinstalled his hard disk in his laptop
- works like a charm
- want to see what complaints he comes up with
- he is not a tech guy
- let's see how he manages to use it for his daily tasks21
Me trying to take a screenshot with iOS 12:
*holds home and presses lock* (the only way I had found to reliably take a screenshot in previous versions): Siri
Fuck off Siri I want a screenshot!
*tries again same way*: Siri
Fuck OFF Siri!
*holds lock + home*: phone locks
*unlocks phone, presses home and lock at the exact same time*
*continues holding* I just want my fucking screenshot.
Phone powers off. Hard reset.
Fuck this shit.
How hard is it to monitor two buttons being pressed at the same time? And if it is so damn hard why make it the ONLY WAY TO TAKE A SCREENSHOT??!
Now whenever I want a screenshot it’s basically a crapshoot whether I will get a screenshot, Siri barging in, or my phone locking on me.
Couldn’t they have just used the volume buttons instead? 😡12
No I don't want to deactivate it, I want you to DELETE all the information you have on me, preferably without having to fucking beg some low-life suppport agent in India (no offense intended) via E-Mail to do his goddamn duty...6
Helping a friend who's a brilliant at mechanics and has his own patents, and got this question when downloading on his 10Mbit line:
"This was supposed to be a fast computer, so why is it taking so long to download?"
To explain the reason was surprisingly hard, considering that this is a guy who's been invited to give a lecture about innovation at a top tech university.1
I started using GitHub for my codes lately, so instead of diving into the code, I make sure to mess with GitHub to have it available online, then I admire the design of GitHub, then I drift to YouTube, listen to music and can not concentrate. Then I open Facebook and tell everyone how hard my life is 😂3
So Microsoft, you tell me that there is a known bug, if you have Windows 10 with the newest update installed on a SSD and Apps running on another hard drive?! And this bugs causes random freezes of the whole PC from time to time?
WHAT THE FUCK?!
It is a common setup nowadays to have a SSD with windows 10 and software on other hard drives and you didn't care to check it before releasing the update? Which I HAVE to download and install?
FUCK YOU MICROSOFT!8
I never finished college. It says so on my resume, in plain English. I don't try to hide it.
A recruiter tells me I'd be a good fit, I give the green light, and he calls back two days later to ask: "Hey, when did you get your degree?"
Me: "I didn't."
I haven't heard from him since. Is it that hard to read a resume?5
My SO got a promotion, and with it he's going to be out of town about every other week.
I told him I'm excited for him, that even though I'll miss him it's a sacrifice I'm happy and willing to make because it's so good for his career, and our future. I don't want him to distracted during his work trips about worries about my unhappiness.
But I miss him and this is so hard actually 😔10
Today i found variable called "booleanValue". So it IS true, that there are two hard things in computer science: cache invalidation and naming things...3
So, this poor fucker right here has spent 3 hours straight trying to install KDE Neon AGAIN, FOR THE 14TH TIME AS OF TIME OF WRITING on an old 0.5TB hard drive with some GiB-wise partitioning size and apparently the disk doesn't like it.
Can someone give me a dildo so I can fuck myself more because life is not fucking me hard enough? No lube needed kthanksbye11
So a non-tech colleague just walked in and asked if it was possible to find and replace "level 1" for a star in 200 .docx files. Considering the fact docx is xml I thought it shouldn't be too hard to do this. I received her email... Including the FF-ing star as a png image! Here i thought she meant a *. Ah.. Hell no!
ʕノ•ᴥ•ʔノ ︵ ┻━┻7
To any and all family members, before requesting my help with the printer/computer/electronic device follow these steps to make sure I don't get irritated.
1. Make sure it's plugged in.
2. Turn it off then back on
3. Turn it off, unplug it for around 30s, turn it back on.
4. Request help
Why is this so hard to grasp? I don't want to stop my workflow with an issue that could be resolved in less than a minute!1
//Just a rant inspiried by another rant.
I doubt most people heard about steganography.
At least normal people (But we are not normal we are nerds and geeks).
I wont explain what it is thats what duckduckgo is here for(Yeah fuck Google).
Its used normally as good encryptin method to hide data in plain sigth.
Its just so awesome to get a image and after working on it you get message or anything the person hide in it.
Its also very much used in serius riddles (Do Not beleive his lies)(Also now im at level 48)
Its just damn fun.
If you like hard challenge and hard puzzles give it a go. At least you will learn something new and usefull.5
I now know why I'm a developer and not a designer, it's so fucking hard like it's goddamn bootstrap that shit is basically built for me but it still looks like an egg took a shit on a toaster
Adding a commit message is so so hard but you can be creative with it..this is the story of "the fisherman "5
Why is it so hard to build reputation on stackoverflow?? Can't upvote, can't comment til I get 50 reputation, can't ask for question clarification so I can answer a question except in a comment...6
It's not that understanding code is so hard (although it can be); understanding the _intent_ is hard. This MVP is great, but when no one had time to document what is actually supposed to happen, programmers have to reverse-engineer the *design*.4
So this happened today.
Trying hard not to judge :/
Later the person also said and I quote:
"It is a markup language or what? We had PHP for that."9
"Tar up your projects as version control."
- CS teacher
I understand git is hard (just the awkward syntax) and not part of a curriculum, but can it at least be suggested? A whole year later, I found out about git and it has made CS projects so much easier.
git commit -a -m "No more tape archiving"4
Why the fucking hell is it so fucking hard to find an Android phone without a shitty ass UI slapped over it?
Holy fucking shit this is fucking ridiculous.18
Fuck this shit, I'm done, mentally broken. I am trying to setup some basic Java project using buck. Their build times looked super promising and I wanted to migrate my multi module maven project to it.
I am currently working on it for FIVE hours now. And this fucking piece of SHIT doesn't work as I want it to. WTF FACEBOOK, IS IT SO HARD TO WRITE PROPER DOCUMENTATION THAT IS NOT OUT OF DATE?! People warned me, I ignored them. FML.
The time I used to try to get the repo working could have been used to build the project 250 times -.-3
I have a lab at uni where my lab group have to refactor some code from an open source project. We got assigned some Apache project and jfc that code is a mess. Little to no documentation, hard to navigate, tests that you have no idea what it's testing, and so on. On top of that the teacher expects us to spend more time than we have on it. I'll be glad when this course is over :))5
I’ve been seeing a lot of comments bashing python. I’d like to know the moment when you went “wow fuck this shit” with python.
My biggest gripe is in large ish projects, because of the dynamic typing things are so hard to debug and narrow down. If it had static typing then python would be the best, but then if it had it it wouldn’t be python in the first place I’d venture.
Microsoft owns github
Microsoft owns windows
Microsoft owns powershell
Why then, why exactly, is it so fucking hard to get ssh private keys for github, up and running on windows powershell.
I tried to change permissions on files but then it broke the git-bash implementation 😭.
Fuck it !! 😭😭8
Slack is cool and all... But do we really have to have an "account per team" ? Damn I cringed so hard when I was setting up two-factor authentication and realized it was this way... Wtf...6
To all frontend webdevs here:
Explain to me how do you cope with all this insane clusterfuckness of frameworks, tools and js libraries.
Why is it so hard for a beginner like me to learn webdev? Android and backend are much more logical and sane. Even Node.js is pretty dope.12
Why is Drupal so hard to learn?!!!!!!
It feels like you are learning an entirely new language. Yes it makes hard things simple, at the same time making simple things hard to accomplish.
And also modules are buggy, you would fix bugs instead of doing your tasks.
I want to learn Drupal but I guess it is not friendly for beginners like me.11
Fact, that I am making websites does NOT mean, that I will make a website for you for free. Why it is so hard for people to understand?2
Fuck Azure, Fuck Windows, Fuck Microsoft.
Half ass baked products in the market. Half the time there's no documentation. When there's a documentation it is so bad that it makes me feel like biting my teeth so hard that I am left with fucking pieces of incisors. My blood fucking boils whenever I need to deal with "POWER"shell. Fucking weaklings.15
Create a new project in Xcode Version 10.1 (10B61) - Single View iOS app.
Drag a button on to the screen. It shows in InterfaceBuilder
Launch app in simulator. Button shows, then disappears. Noob says WTF?!
Poor noob has to ask me why this is happening and I explain that Apple's Single View project is a single splash screen project. The button they placed on what they thought was the single "window" is really a splash screen named "LaunchScreen".
Apple Xcode team (aka fucktards) provide yet another shitty out of the box experience...
It is so hard to be positive when teaching others how to use Xcode. Thanks for DevRant for letting me vent.1
CTO for the picture.
This is so real, people are having a bad time because of the covid-19, productivity could be affected by this, my colleagues are having a hard time since they cant realy separate work from work anymore, the situation is hard as it is, i hope we all get through this.
Please Give Loving Comments below so i can show this to my dev/non dev friends that are having a hard time.12
DEPRESSION TRIGGER WARNING
Every once in a while, I feel depressed.
From who am i, where am i questions to what will i do in the future to sustain myself...
But what hits me so hard every single time is what will happen if i die...
So i disappear
As if i never wake up again from my sleep
It is like
I don't know how to explain but..
It terrifies me
Think about it
From this world
And if you have no kids, well,
Making an MVP is hard as hell. It's not even coding that makes it hard, it's knowing when to stop that's so damn difficult. By the time you're ready with something, your brain says "Hey...wouldnt it be great if you added this!" Then you add it, "whoa add this too!"...several days later:
Brain: "The fuck is this, all you needed was that"
Customer: I need a one page website, which must have an administration panel , so I can change and add new sections. I will also have designed a unique logo and a unique web design. I think you can do it in 5-10 hours , so I'll give you $ 50 and $ 100
Me: ehmmm... I need more time if it is to be unique , and one hour cost of $ 5- $ 10 is not enough.
Customer: fuck it. I do it my self. it can not be that hard , and I think it's too expensive.
I'm a python fanboy, not gonna lie.
I love everything about it. It's clean syntax, ready to use out of the box-ness, convenient built-in functions.
The one thing I hate is the official documentation. It's ugly, hard to navigate and a cluster fuck.
But it has proper information, so it's fine I guess. tsch14
https://gist.github.com/go…/... Python. So, for today's Information Retrieval class, I show them how to do IMDB web-scrapping by using pure PHP and regex (no external libraries).
I really hate doing regex in PHP. It is not standard. but here it is anyway: https://gist.github.com/go…/...
Web scrapping (or regex in general) can make your life easier. Yes, it is hard to master, but it is indeed very useful.7
Coding is like the minds virus for me. I can't stop, but I sometimes question if it's good for me. Work is ok nowadays, but keeping a balance in hobbies is so hard. When I discover something new that's fun it can eat me up for days. But that excitement can leave just as quickly with very few projects ever finished as a result.2
Everyone hates iPhone so much i think it is because they know it's superior and are sad about it. The comparisons people keep posting are cherry picked and misleading attempting futilely to show the iPhone in negative light. Sorting through them is getting exhausting. Let the hate begin!!
Addendum: seems like admitting the iPhone is technologically superior but you prefer the android ecosystem for reasons x and y is so easy, that it's hard to take people seriously for posting memes belligerently asserting that Samsung phones are technologically superior despite the mountain of evidence otherwise. Just looks like insecurity to an outsider. It's just a phone, not your livelihood.62
Is apple a fruit? Yes.
Is orange a fruit? Yes.
Is apple an orange? No.
Does apple equal a fruit? No.
Does orange equal a fruit? No.
If you're capable of understanding this, then WHY IS IT IT SO DAMN HARD TO UNDERSTAND 0 == ""?17
I love how my University CSSE courses make it hard for Windows users.
Student: Is it possible use VALGRIND in Windows CMD?
prof: I don't know, I only use Linux command line. Next question.
All programs must compile and run on Linux using g++. So everyone using windows has strip the IDE bloat and transfer the project files over to the remote Linux lab every single time they compile and run.
Benefits of being a Linux user!5
Here's an advice to you guys:
Ever look at your mailbox and think it's so full of junk?
Archive all your current emails.
Then next time you get any spam emails take the time to unsubscribe or block the sender.
Trust me, life is so much better after you've got rid of those craps. And it's not that hard like it seems. In a week you'll probably get rid if 90% of those.3
You say my ROM is crashing and is unstable ???
How dare you ?
I have spent 1 fucking month running it daily just to test it and its freaking stable and fast even after 1 month of hard use and lots of apps.
So sorry but i cant fix that you are fucking stupid and cant read flashing instruction properly.5
The frustration that comes to each developer when he tries to write the code structured by thinking through each situations, and your team lead comes and tells you why r you doing so much validations just hard code them we need to release it today client is waiting. After 3-4 months the same team lead goes through the code and shouts at you telling why the he'll you hard coded all these, can't you write the code correctly by thinking through.3
Fuck you SailfishOS.
I wanted to port you.
But nooooo you have to make it complicated AF.
I mean who has chroot in a chroot to build an image ?
You are fucking dumb piece of shit.
I wanted to avoid it but the only OS thats actually usable is Ubuntu Touch.
But yeah IDK if Halium boot will work with kernel 3.0. Why 3.0 you ask ?
Because kernel upgrading on Android Device is crazy hard.
I mean crazy hard.
Get clean source of 3.4 for android. OK thats not hard.
Get version of your kernel which is not bloated with commits to make android boot. Not so easy but doable.
Now just compare it with clean 3.0. Easy
Apply the changes to 3.4. FUCKING HARD AF SHIT.
And even when you apply all of them it wont most likely build. If it does then its unlikely it will boot. If it does it will probably turn of after second or 2. If not and it boots android which it wont due to missing commits needed to boot it.
So yeah pain AF.
I tried multiple times to get 3.4 working but nope.
Sad part ? Even devices older then the one i mantained had 3.4. FFS i was doing a bad job.
So yeah i guess legacy port it is but IDK since its not recommended at all. Fuck this shit.
I fucking ported android 8.1 while the last working version was 6.0. I can do this shit (I most likely cant and will give up on the 3.4 port.)15
If I write something erroneously on SO because the program or operating system uses it erroneously in the error, don't edit my fucking question to what you think it should be. People who Google for the same error aren't going to find it as a possible fucking solution. How fucking hard is this to understand?1
Error mesage on my 4GB ram "smart" phone, running a "smart" application.
'Oh no ! Something went wrong. Re-try'
WHY DOES A "SMART" APPLICATION GIVE SUCH A STUPID ERROR MESSAGE.
IT IS MY PHONE, PLEASE PROVIDE A HELPFUL ERROR MESSAGE, WHY IS IT SO HARD.
I JUST HATE SOFTWARE THAT TREATS THE END USERS AS STUPID ANIMALS.9
My final exam for Python3. I had previously failed this course, and the exam only had three questions. If I failed to answer one question I would have to take the course over, and my GPA would fall so hard that I wouldn't be able to take the course again. So I was extremely grave, and extremely anxious beyond belief.
I uploaded the two easy answers to the site.
And the last one was so baffling to me I stayed 5 minutes extra to figure it out. I nearly failed so badly.
My GPA is now 3.6 again. (😤 "Triumph" emoji)2
So our office is located in a shared floor with multiple other companies. Every unit has its own alarm and security system.
And every God damn day someone somewhere manages to fuck it up and make their alarm go crazy. Without fail.
How fucking hard is it to disable your alarm before opening the door you thick skulled halfwit.
Some people are trying to concentrate and get actual work done.
Just going through some old code from git repo's and code examples and I have a message to every dev out there after seeing some of the code quality...
Never... ever... ever fucking give variables with names like vx, tr and sq.
Give your variables names that explain what they are, it is so fucking hard trying to follow code that has 2 letter variable names and there is a special place in hell for you :-)3
Ever since I started with websecurity I've noticed alot of people still use passwords such as 123456 or abcdef and so on. I mean is it really so damn hard to figure out a more complicated password like, "IDigAGrave34+" or "IFuckedBaTmanInTheAssetsi1369" (a very long but yet secure pass). Or just use any word you see around you and mix them like for example if you have a dell pc and a samsung screen, those two names are pretty easy to scramble around like, "desamllsung" and sprinkle some random characters above it. If it is so hard to remember just write it down on notes and hide somewhere or use the countless programs where u can store it. So please for the love of your own privacy, think when you create an account and do not use the same pass on every damn site you are on. Make it hard for the hackers and crackers out there. Sincerily, a concerned internet user.11
I'm getting beat up pretty bad by Rust. I like it so far but man is it hard. Imposter-syndrome is almost making me lose motivation. Almost, but I won't quit, one day I'll get there.
I think the primary reason I think I'm having such a hard time is that I'm trying to learn stuff that prevents me from making some mistakes that I have never run into. I know a bit of the theory but no hand's on experience on double-free errors, memory leaks and weird low-level stuff. I read the documentation, mostly understand what stuff is for but when I go write code I'm just like "now what?". I don't have enough experience to know when and where to use some concepts and I'm super lost. I don't know where to start and the feeling of being completely overwhelmed by all sorts of new stuff is at the same time exciting and frightening.
I have never, as a programmer, thought something was hard. All of my past knowledge required dedication, work and patience, but I wouldn't say I ever felt something was *hard*. But Rust... damn. Rust is hard.
Hopefully at the end of this super steep learning curve I'll know a lot more stuff and have stronger "dev powers" and be one step closer to being as knowledgeable as some of you guys around here to whom I look up to.2
So my Dell laptop has been freezing for a couple of weeks.
I thought it was the Slack desktop app that was causing it, so I uninstalled it. Still froze.
So I did a whole bunch of things on it to try to fix it, even restarting Windows 10. Still froze.
Then I thought it was the Dropbox app that was causing it, so I disabled it from starting up when I turn on the laptop. For a while, the laptop didn't freeze.
Then my desktop computer started freezing too from time to time. I was like, "WTF!"
It could be the Windows Update that's causing it, because there was an update going on around the time the freeze-ups happened. Now my laptop is on the "Getting Windows ready, Don't turn off your computer" screen after hard-booting it.5
Feeling so dumb right know.
I have a C# exam tomorrow (on paper) and i can't get my brain to think in code.
I can't focus, I can't concentrate. I don't remember things i normally know by heart. Is it just stress? (Everything is pretty hard atm, lots of stress, lots of problems).
What could i do? I'm pretty messed up right now...13
The surgery appears to be a success !
When you are too poor to afford proper medical care, you have to DIY..
I got myself one of those USB microscopes so I could examine the site in more detail. (Hard to reach and see as it was on my bottom !)
Anyhow, I successfully cut out the lump myself, didn't bleed to death in the process, and it hasn't grown back after several months, so I call that a success !
The wound site is now healed.
Didn't use painkillers, so it hurt a bit..9
"It is not so hard to be original, what is hard, is to be original with continuity." - Andrés Segovia
Why the f*ck is it so hard to setup an online live radio on NodeJS but making a freaking Google hangouts clone is not.3
I've seen several rants on here about poor documentation on great libraries. Well I just spent 9 hours in a car today and I realized that even the ones that have great documentation absolutely SUCK at being mobile friendly. I'm no web developer but how freaking hard is it to optimize your stupid website for small screens??? There are a million frameworks out there you can choose from PLUS it's almost entirely text so it can't be that hard!! I have to zoom in about 300% to be able to read it, then I have to scroll back and forth because it no longer fits on the screen.
I have come to realize that my stress comes from how inefficient my clients use their tech.
I have to stop caring. Is it up? Is it running? Good. That should be where my investment ends.
I shouldn't fear a heart attack or stroke because of some clients' inefficiency.
IT'S JUST SO DAMN HARD.
So I told my partner in not buying a Mac and that in buying a base model pixelbook instead, showed her the pricing and she nearly strangled me...
Why is it so hard to be a Google fan and have to import litteraly everything with an extra 400 AUD tacked on -,-12
Why is it so hard for people (especially managers) to learn to work smarter not harder....
FIX THE GODDAMN PROBLEM CORRECTLY... THE FIRST TIME SO WE DON'T HAVE TO KEEP FIXING ITS BLOWUPS ON WEEKENDS....
AND STOP HIRING MONKEYS THAT JUST KNOW TO PRESS BUTTONS RATHER THAN DESIGNING FULLY FUNCTIONAL SOLUTIONS THAT DON'T BLOW UP OR LEAVE A TRAIL OF SHIT BEHIND THAT I NEED TO DECIPHER N CLEANUP....2
Our company recently moved to git and the number of people who do not understand basic git concepts like commit and push are too damn high! I don' get it, its a completely logical model, what is so hard to understand.4
When your screen is facing the window, so you’d rather have the door behind you closed otherwise you’ll get the glare from the window.
Why the fuck is it so hard for the people that go through the door to close it behind their fucking asses when they come into the room.
For fucks sake it’s not that hard you uncultured swines.
I finally managed to make my first actual c program.
It's pretty lame but it's atleast something. It tells you what Linux distrobution youre on and that's pretty much it.
Here is it if you would for any reason be interested
And btw. C is so fucking hard. 😠14
Why is it so hard to convice coworkers (other programmers) to use source control? Yes it's an extra step every day or so but it can be so helpful and save so much more time tracking down versions and when the bug first appeared. Also, piece of mind if your computer every gets hosed.7
Why is it so hard to remember, that devs need an error message if they should help you. just saying "it does not work" is not helping.
I even wrote you a checklist. so f*ing use it! I'm not there to be called every time just to tell you to do something that's already on this list.
Every. F**ing. Time.2
So I have this idea of a potentially amazing idea but I'm so conflicted as to whether or not it is a good idea (I know it will probably never happen) but it's really hard to put it in writing for people's opinions and input on it...
Anyone else have these moments?7
Why is it so hard to find internships in india? !!
If you're not from india, is it hard to find some there too?5
My dream project is something very simple but not yet done in Pakistan.
I want to create a marketplace for musical instruments and related equipment. Currently it's very hard for amateur musicians in Pakistan to find the gear they're looking for, and being one of these musicians myself, I know how frustrating it can be. So it'd be great if I can solve that problem in a country where the government does very little to help independent artists grow.1
MarSecOps: "Marketing Security Operations, the idea is that security is not just the realm of website developers or the IT department anymore, but rather the marketing department has an equal if not greater interest in, and even responsibility to security."
WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK? The marketing dimwits responsible for security? Whose IT competence ends at Powerpoint drivel?!
I LOLed so hard that I could have shat a cactus!8
I feel so fucking proud after finally finishing what i started coding
I delayed so many days and procrastinated because it seemed way too fucking hard to code it
But i sat down and forced myself to do it despite it being hard
Yes i broke my fucking head trying to figure it out but i somehow figured it out
And it is finally fucking done
Fucking good Lord thank you2
So re-installed linux on my PC while I had the time only to discover that my windows installation had installed it's boot manager onto the linux installs hard drive... So of course it all got deleted and I can't access my windows partition because I can't get linux to create a bootable windows drive...
Today is just fucking great isn't it .-.11
Finally a proper fucking challenge.
I have ported 8.1 to old phone but that was using patches from few friends.
Now im hitting issues that no one has seen yet and im the one who has to debug it and fix it cause no one else will.
So im the one writting the patches now.
Its hard im not gonna lie.
Like im hitting my head on table hard.
But i have help from the SODP team (Sony Open Devices Project) that im part of and sure it at first seemed weird why not just tell me what is wrong but now i see why.
Dont baby sit the people you teach. They wont learn anything. Let them figure it out.
Learnt more in few days then i have in months.
Hard but feels amazing.1
Working on modifying a legacy web project and just about every single element is `position: absolute` with crazy z-index juggling and hard-coded pixel sizes and positions everywhere 😭
FUCKING RUBY PLUGIN
FUCKING AUTO INDENT
Why the FUCK is it so hard to imagine that a huge hash may go on several lines?
Do you have to fucking break my entire file just because some fucktard never saw a hash bigger than his tiny cock?
Do you fuckers like having lines of code that don't fit on your display?
Anyone ever wondered how hard it is to fill feedbacks and performance growth of your own, which the manager will be evaluating..
The situation is so ironic.. u want to write the best about you, but don't want to look like bragging abt yourself in the same time..4
Seriously how hard is it to observe proper indentation! Don't mix spaces and tabs! That's why I added the .editorrc .jshintrc .jscsrc in the project repo so you'd use it. I asked you to configure your editor and the only thing you configured was your freaking Sublime theme and color scheme. aaaaargh!!!!!1
Just got my laptop back from the store, after having sent it in over 6 weeks ago due to a faulty keyboard. I had made a system image of the hard drive before I sent it in, so I could just restore it and have it ready to go. So I get the backup restoring, and at around 75%, the laptop died. I forgot to plug it in.
I am now currently downloading windows. This is going to be a long night.3
No matter the hard work you want to do, how much time you want and really spend to complete something, always a scumbag project manager will set the dates so that you won't make it in f*ing time!! Really now, it is frustrating!!
Well, I moved to a new company and all seems vanilla. But you know. Now I have this lesson to remind myself.4
i always assume that my code is right so when the compiler gives an error, its hard for me to find out why it gives an error and why it doesnt work. my mind is too convinced that it is correct.
i guess i have to sleep it off 😴 maybe tomorrow it will be easier to fix6
Why the fuck is it so hard to find a proper guide on porting a custom rom(LineageOS) to a device?!2
Dear lord! Why is it so hard to get this to work! Anyone know if its even possible to run lambda expression on JSP? I made sure everything is running on Java JDK 8. BUT IT DOESN'T WORKKKKK. I keep getting "Lambda expressions are allowed only at source level 1.8 or above"2
It is really hard not to feel arrogant when everyone around you is a shitbag.. but that makes me feel like a shitbag myself so the problem kind of solves itself.2
Why is it so hard to find a designer/front-end dev partner and/or freelancer that can make mobile specific designs!?2
I started to realise how ugly it is.
Seriously waiting to the day browsers will work with clojurescript out of the box, without the need to compile.
The language is so clean, clear, easy and data oriented, I find it hard to go back to js.
Also, the docs are much better.
Long live concurrency !15
This project is gonna drive me insane. I'm moving a custom-scripted WordPress ecommerce site to WooCommerce. The basis of the source site was WooCommerce but with the advantages stripped away and with a LOT of hard coded stuff added to it to make it seem like a unique, custom ecommerce engine.
Now I have to strip all that away and standardize it back into the WooCommerce way so it's all easier to maintain.
It's like I've been handed a jigsaw puzzle of a bunch of clowns and now I need to take it apart and put it together again but make it look like George Washington instead.1
Okay so I just went from getting no feedback on job applications to having more appointments than I can manage.... You'd think this is a good thing but how do you do this with or raising suspicion... Guess it means I did something right in all my hard work and late nights....11
Why doesn't Skype of business have an application for Linux? Every company meeting where a developer isn't involved is run on sfb. Being on Ubuntu it is hard to attend any such meeting. Any meeting between developers is on zoom so we're good.
We can't really convince every one (other than developers) to start using zoom.
Do we have any other alternatives? Is this a lost cause?20
What the actual fucking fuck? I've spent almost two days debugging this motherfucking piece of shit.
YOUR BIOS HAS A WINDOW WITH A DROP SHADOW SO VERY COOL OF YOU IBM, BUT YOU CAN'T GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER WHEN IT COMES TO BOOTING.
I mean, what's the fucking logic? I don't fucking need a nice interface to my BIOS. No one fucking does when it comes to server hardware.
This is it for me. Fuck IBM. Fuck it hard. I really hope Oracle buys you.3
Vue is amazing at all but fuck...never try to create some kind of layer on top of it or use external events inside. It is hell, trust me. I hate myself so much now. Shieet.
Now I am crying here with fucked up data flow and such complex hard to debug creature...5
Why in the fuck is it so hard to see buttons when kb selecting with tab in a browser? It's like:
"Tab....Tab.....Tab Tab Tab... oops, went too far,
Shift + Tab, Shift + Tab.... fuck!, too far left.. wait, is that button actually highlighted, oh it is too, wtf."
It's 2019, why is this still a thing?10
The Elixium blockchain project is coming along pretty well! We worked on it pretty hard for a few months but then I had to take some time off to deal with life stuff, but now I'm able to work on it again and I can honestly say I've really missed it.
I'd love some more open source contributors (after all, that's what decentralized software is all about), so if you're interested, *every little commit helps*.
Here's the GitHub repo: https://github.com/elixiumnetwork/...9
I just finished ny first feature at my first dev job - a gallery page connected to an api.
It took 2 weeks. About 2 days of programming, but 12 days of fucking css.
Why is css so bloody hard?7
I was returning something at MicroCenter the other day. The guy in front of me was picking up a laptop be brought in to have fixed. They had replaced the motherboard, and put all his old data on an external drive.
"So what's this?"
"This is an external hard drive. We copied all the data from your laptop onto it and put a fresh install on it."
"So .. how do I get to it?"
"You just plug it in, over USB."
"So how ... how does that work."
This goes on for a while. Shop owner has to start his computer. Plug in the drive. There was a lot of, "So everything that was on here, is now on here?"
The guy had no basic understanding of external hard drives, USB, copying files ... thankfully while the files were copying from the hard drive to his desktop, he said he needed a longer cable to the router so he could put it on the other side of the room. It took the guy behind the desk an unreasonable amount of time to direct him to the isle with the Ethernet cables, but once he did, I was finally able to return my item.
I'm glad I no longer work in desktop support.1
Good oop is hard to implenent and keep track off in my experience.
I have seen projects so hard which have such large hierarchies and reused components that even the most minimal change breaks an entire change. Dependency injection is a pretty cool tool to use, but I have seen more people fuck it up and make something that supposedly removes tightly coupled components be the extreme opposite.
Remember your basics people. Fuck
Ok everything is good now. Happy thoughts...nuthing but happy thoughts16
WHY IS IT SO FUCKING HARD TO DOWNLOAD SOFTWARE FROM MEGACORPS??
Yes, am looking at you EMC, Oracle and IBM. Either they have tons of portals-e-delivery-shittorama or their softwares suddenly disappear for n amount of time without notice. Mix this up with broken links or CONSTANTLY REBRANDING YOUR SHITTY PRODUCTS SO YOU NEED TO HIRE A PERSONAL ASSISTANT THAT ONLY WORKS WITH TRACKING THESE PORTALS TO HELL
Also, your websites are slow as shit.
So here I am trying to understand the database schema in order to write a REST interface. Then I find that one of the tables contains an id and a name columns but the name is Integer not a string!
I contacted the developer who gladly explained that it was easier for them to store the ids in the database but the actual names strings were hard coded in the source files so they can handle translations!
My 2tb portable external hard disk is messed up :( . The disk isn't spinning. It is under warranty but I am so depressed.4
ColdFusion and all ColdFusion devs should be executed. Its a god-awful software from the 90's and if you still use it you're either braindead or ignorant.
Shut up about legacy CF code too! No one cares whether or not your embeddable calendar would be hard to make in JS; fucking figure it out.
I realise that CF may make things easier in the short run, but in the long run you'll have introduced so much technical debt that you'll run crying back to JS anyways; CF is so hard to refactor and even to make flexible that you would spend less total time over an application lifecycle learning JS.11
"It works when i compile it on my personal PC, but not when built on the server so the bug cant does not exist"
It is very hard to like this developer..
//your friendly integration tester1
After many months of hard work we are finally near to release the new website. It feels amazing and is such a relief. Some days it seemed like everything was against me but it's in times like these I am so glad to be a developer.2
wtf boss!!!! Is it so hard to understand that having one column per year is a horrible bad practice?9
Grab app notifications system sucks to the max. Actually the whole Grab app sucks when it compared to Uber.
But fucking Uber is expensive and high and all mighty. They are like hey our app is the best, so use if you want or fuck off.
Grab. They are not expensive and they do shit tons of promotions and gives much more coupons. But all the news are sent to that buggy NOTIFICATIONS page and that fucking page is buggy as shit.
I wonder that they are doing it intentionally. Hey give lots of promotions. Just make it hard as fuck for people to access and use it.
Is it so hard for other people to write code as if there will be other eyes watching? When will people learn that a programming language is what bridges the communication gap between humans and machines? If I can't follow your code, you wrote it poorly. Period. At least document what the hell is going on. Be considerate of the next person. Unbelievable.
God why is it so hard to let go with people around, especially potential friends or partners... It could be so easy to just have fun and do the things you always think about, but then you mess it up and that somehow.. purposely.3
Trying to read and understand a document for a startup project, so I can help with wireframes and mockups.
So full of yadda yadda it makes you think "what do these guys drink in the morning?".
Is it that hard to make a simple and direct document? 😢2
So my day started well.
I come in an the DVR monitor is not working, ok lets turn it off and on, nope. Lets turn the DVR on and off, nope still nothing. Played around with the VGA cable, nope. I cant replace the cable because its hard wired into the monitor....
I grab the spare screen next to me and connect it all up and it works!
Boss tells me to throw "broken" monitor out, I say I want to test it just to make sure, connect it all up to my pc and now it fucking works!
There are days I hate technology....1
Why is it so fucking HARD TO CLONE THE FUCKING C: DRIVE! WHY THE FUCK!? I JUST WANT TO CLONE THE DATA TO A BACKUP SSD AND THIS SHIT ISNT FUCKING WORKING! I DONT WANNA PAY FUCKING MONEY FOR SOME extremly safe high quality backup FUCK THIS!8
Who would have said. Learning Morse code is hard. I knew it few years ago by pictures but i heard thats the very worst way so im learning it from scratch by sounds. Oh boy.
How do you fucking hear the dash and dot difference at 15wpm ? I mean its there surely but its tiny.8
When your PC is slow af cause of the hard disk so you make a dumb decision and change your hard disk with a new one and you gotta install Windows on it but you only have very old images of it so it requires a special USB driver to install the system and THEN you realise the setup image has NO DRIVERS for ethernet, wlan OR usb so you can do absolutely NOTHING with your fresh system so you decide to install linux instead but you realise YOU'VE REMOVED ALL X64 IMAGES BECAUSE YOU'RE FUCKING DUMB SO you prepare a bootable Kali USB to copy basic drivers and DriverBooster into the hard disk to install them on Windows.
AND THEN YOUR FRIENDS CALL YOU AND TELL YOU THAT YOU HAVE 2 EXAMS TOMORROW BUT YOU CAN'T JUST LEAVE THE COMPUTER SO YOU JUST GO FUCKING KILL YOURSELF
This is why I HATE MY LIFE SO MUCH IT GOES SO WRONG !!!!4
Worst: I guess not having actual income for more than half a year (finding a job is so hard) not really the end of the world since having a job i made so little progress on the game and had tp sacrifice a lot of sleep due to getting up early and getting home late
Best: Progress on the VR game, it's coming along well and it could be my income for next year (I really really hope so) otherwise it'll be a good show piece for when i apply for jobs, if i make a demo i'll post stuff on here (just realise it will be VR only)
Amazing project I love working for and we're are the cusp of pushing out a big new update.
Suddenly Safari starts closing our SignalR web sockets the moment the page loads, and only Safari does it.
And our client has a hard on for Apple.
So it's considered a blocking change, even though Safari is only used by the client and none of our end users.1
This week was so not productive! Learning c# on the job is hard and I had hoped that it would go faster🙃1
I am so sick of this place. Production deployment shouldn't be such a massive cluster fuck of different departments and sometimes redundant configurations. Knowing who to talk to about a problem shouldn't change daily, and it shouldn't be hard to figure out.
My jvm doesn't appear to be running in production. I hunt down the fucker who is supposed to be handling this problem today...but he's out of office and no one knows who his stand in is...GODDAMNIT!2
Why is it so hard to explain to people that
The speed of time = 60 minutes / hour
I mean, I didn't come up with this shit!!! Come on
Also, in other annoyances of today:
VS code updated and ended with a crash, even tho it now says it's actually updated... Should I trust this bitch or not?!?!
I've used ngrok since it's earlier days when it was free to use. Now it's hard to use ngrok for certain use cases. And it is very slow for parallel calls. So I started working on my own ngrok implementation from scratch using QUIC as the communication protocol between the exposed server and the tunneling client. The project is very new as the QUIC library I'm using is not that mature, yet I'm getting good results. It is very easy to setup. Would love to know if you guys had any thoughts. https://github.com/aki237/qxpose1
As a web developer who focuses on accessibility, why is it so goddamn hard to get buy-in for accessible design?!
If you design to be the most accessible possible regular users benefit from an experience that works, for as many people as possible, in more situations than most test for normally!5
Ok I don't know very much about what goes into developing a whole os, but I find it hard to imagine how you can fuck something up so badly like the win10 creators update. When suddenly the explorer and the menus don't have text displayed and you have to guess which one is the right folder. Do they even have testing?4
So the game I've been working since January is showing off a demo at ECGC also known as the East Coast Game Conference in North Carolina :D
If anyone is free on the 17th to 19th of April and enjoys games come try it out!
(it's $35 for a pass at least for the standard pass at least)
The game is called Redemption's Guild, which is a multiplayer online VR RPG and our company is called Unlit Games.
Our website: https://unlitgames.com/redemptionsg...
Sadly I won't be there but some people from the company will :D
I've been working hard to make this game, I hope the people that play it enjoy it as much as I loved (and still love) working on it.
Also our animator is giving a talk, so if you enjoy animation and possibly how it was done (i'm not 100% what the talk is about lol) stay for that aswell!2
Why is it so damn hard to integrate an external api into Android in a non messy non tedious way... I mean yes I'm new to this but it's unnecessarily tough..
I was bored so I learned HTML/CSS, I was like "eh, programming is easy!".
So I learned C next and I was like "eh, programming is kinda hard actually".
So I learned to program rather than learn a language, got back to C until I was comfortable with it.
Nothing is hard now :D2
I am on a conference call and I have this system admin saying it is hard to create a Windows virtual server. And so it starts... *eye roll* 😒😒😒
I'm looking into GraphQL and so far so good, but I am finding it hard to implement business rules, for example:
1. Receive request with auth token
2. Know who the user is by extractin userId from token
3. fetch data related to that user only.
I was only able to make it allow or deny if there is a token or not lol5
I think it will be hard for Facebook to recover from this.
It seems like most people can tell that it is toxic.
Of course, a heroin addict would tell you they know heroin is bad, that doesn’t mean they are gonna stop using.
So FB isn’t going anywhere (they already have their needle in a lot of veins), but I’m not sure that even the addicts will see them the same way again.5
As someone who does a lot of frontend (I'm basically a junior fullstack) I find it so hard to keep up with all the changes and additions to all of the tools available.
I keep coming across so many amazing tools that I just didn't know about. Recently, it's been flex, grid and SASS. Now it's the idea of css variables... when the fuck did this happen? Why is none of this taught anywhere?!2
I shot myself in the foot again!!
These incident usually happen at restless night.
Some night I become too restless so I do what any programmer would do, I program.
The "novel" idea just come up and I code until I become too tired. I usually finish the prototype of the project before I fell asleep.
I usually found out that I have reinvent the wheel the next morning! Great. My "novel" idea is not too "novel" after all.
It is hard to find the novel project these day since it is too hard to beat the decade of collective intelligence of programmer.8
I know the world doesn't owe me anything but why is it so fucking hard to get a job in this industry?? Unless you have a few years experience in a job behind you. Well if I can't get a fucking coding job in the first place how the fuck am I supposed to get work experience. The world is deluded fucked up place. Rant over!8
I am unable to see anything useful in current social networks. It all looks like big advertising platforms and I am not interested in looking on ads. This personalization is so shitty that original content is very hard to find. All is so political correct and trendy and what about uniqueness of human individuals. Shitty socialists networks. Hope this website would not be another one.5
Why is it so hard to find backend Java developers?
So much work to do... so few people to do it with... -_-11
It feels so alien. I'm so used to writing plain old loops.
Reading and undersranding this kind of style in other people's code is really hard for me, especially if all this is happeining on the same line.4
Had multiple calls with a Google recruiter, I had my reasons for not being super interested and he suggested I think it over for the weekend. The next Monday he calls back for the third or fourth time and after politely telling him I wasn't too excited about the nasty commute it would require he muttered "what the fuck is wrong with you?" and slammed the phone down so hard I swear he must have broken the base unit.3
goddammit my 3DS' shell is flaking hard
anyone know how i could just pull all the red plastic shit off it so i can paint it?4
So Docker is pretty amazing, but I'm finding myself immensely frustrated at all the stupid shit devs do with their Dockfiles and stacks. Like the surprise of finding out Jenkins clients aren't setup for SSH or stacks opening up 5 public ports when all they really need are a bunch of private ports. Or how Jenkins deployments expect crazy tags so I have to add some really stupid tags to my own nodes.
How is it so hard to comprehend Docker for devs? It's so easy that I'm in utter bliss when I stop trying to use 3rd party stacks.1
Question: can I describe OOP as "not in a loop, doesn't use interrupts" ?
I don't know much outside of OOP so describing it is like describing life, hard.9
I want to switch over to Linux again, Windows just annoys me a lot lately. Thing is, I don't know what distro I wanna use yet.
I want one that is:
0. Security focused, so encryption, VPN and so on. (I know software could do the job, but would be nice if it comes with the OS)
1. Not hard to configure, but I should be able to configure it more when I want to.
2. Not too ulgy looking.
I have a little bit of experience with Linux, but I'm not even close a professional.
Looking forward to your suggestions!12
As regular as it is, it's pretty hard to be a programmer and a pc gamer at the same time... You need a good easily portable laptop yet you want a powerful rig so you get a gaming laptop and curse yourself everytime you need to get somewhere with it cause it's fairly heavy and also curse yourself when you paid so much yet you can't play on that much of a high config...
The only good alternative is if you're rich enough to get a slim laptop and a powerful desktop at once16
Me : .. but sir without sass/js compiled, how can we address the issue?
Boss : that is not an issue, issue is with on approach we have taken?
You sick fuck, you take other developers un-finished work, expect me to finish it (which it did) and when the other developer is not smart enough to copy paste the solution, you give an "update" to me, I mean how the fuck, what ever..
I really really put efforts to make this shit happen, I know very little about your commerce cloud shit, but when you question my logic on basis of someone who will pay you to finish her work, it is very unethical and hard to swallow it down.
Maybe this is my first real job, that is why this is so hard, but I gotta do what I gotta do
"We always give feedback whether it's positive or negative usually within a week." said the guy who interviewed me 3 weeks ago.
Is it so hard to send me a simple fucking e-mail?1
Wtf google is that so hard to make it easy to wget/curl some files/folders from google drive? Wtf...2
How do I know I’m not developing fast enough?
I compared to a lot of students at my university, I find myself working the opposite - documenting and planning first, then coding.
Everyone at my school seems to be hitting the keyboard and just hanging out solutions in a day for our labs.
Even at my internship, I sometimes found myself staring at existing code bases for a week before I could even do anything.
Is this normal? It’s so hard to know how well I am doing when it feels so hard to measure...I mean, even with all the tools of git etc, should I even be measuring?14
I spent the last 3 *fucking* hours trying to get bloody BibLatex working on my machine. fuck me upside down with a rusty chainsaw >:( How hard can it possibly be to get 1 fucking reference working for god's sake!!? Referencing its basically the whole fucking reason people use latex alongside typesetting math, why is it so fucking hard!! And to add insult to injury it was working fine in Overleaf, but i have to go through fucking hours of pointless googling and swearing if i wanna do the exact same thing in TexStudio. Fuck! LateX can go to hell, i could have written so much in this time if only the piece of shit bibtex would cooperate a bit...1
WTF, Rust. You are so fucking hard to write, and TBH, your docs are not understandable. Please writte your docs to be understandable, and make it fun to read, like golang does.
WTF, Rust. I am now looking, for 5 hours straight, for a solution for reading stdin into a variable. Nothing. 6 fucking solutions for 6 different rust versions of which not one works. Nothing is readable. Explain the philosophy of you language! What the hell is this?! Is your language based on the C family? On which is it based?! fucking idiots6
I downloaded Hive from Vault 8 and got latest thinking I would find some neat things; here’s what I have learned so far:
# Reading others people code is hard
# Code you don’t understand looks “normal”
# No one comments
# If you want to do something cool it has to be in C++ with Python make scripts
Has anyone else looked at it?1
I'm so excited before tomorrow, I'm a little bit afraid.
Just had my very first deadline in my life (started my apprenticeship a few months ago). I can lead and develop a complex and very large project, which is nice but it's very hard.
Tomorrow I've to present it to the client and has to convience him.
Wish me luck! Any tips or advices dir the presentation?2
Just wanted to get back to my last rant on here: https://devrant.com/rants/1617720/...
So, even though the team still is slimming down we actually did manage to get the two applications live by the deadline. It took my saturday and a lot of hard work, but we managed to pull it off somehow. I'm so happy :)1
why the fucking fuck is it so hard finding keyboards with NORMAL enter/return keys nowadays?
should i google for it first? am i supposed to press it on a fucking microscope? should I buy a big fucking nuclear missile launch style enter key on a separate USB cable eventually?13
Dear Microsoft, I see what you were going for, and I love you for it; but for the love of god, please fucking fix the clusterfuck that is Nuget.
I use a private feed for client work, and I have the public source registered too, so why would installing a new .core template from Nuget fail just because it tried the private feed first and shit itself?
It really shouldn’t be this hard.
I am a chinese dev with 5-6 years experience, working on c/cpp/golang for backend server and PHP for web.
But I still feel hard to learn JAVA and JAVA web framework. You know it just has too many bultshit too learn, which is meanless to me.
Do you no-chinese guys also think so?2
Why is it so hard for some programmers to gain the maximum performance and not to waste any resources?7
So at work, I was trying to convince a senior programmer to adopt Golang for a new project that would need to handle large amount of throughput as oppose to Django with gunicorn and other optimizations (which is what we usually do).
The response was "we'd have a hard maintaining it, as no one really knows Go and it will be hard to hire people with Go knowledge".
So my question: "in your opinion, is that a good reason?" I have some go experience from other jobs, it seems like a superior solution for this problem.8
CGI is fun, websockets are fun, why on earth is it so fucking hard to have both of them with proper switching using at most one extra program apart from my handlers?
By proper switching I mean that you actually track connections and upgrade headers to decide what to do, rather than forcing websocket connections onto a separate HTTP resource just to tell the difference.4
Why is React.js so hard to learn for someone from a JAVA back end background? I'm constantly asking myself "so should I set param as string? or int? Array? so many methods that's returning html tags! what collects all and makes it appear at WHERE??"9
Anyone seeing this rant from Sydney? If yes, why is it so hard to get any IT/Dev jobs for an international student? Sucks.
So I decided to buy a new graphic card to fully enjoy my PC games. Once I set it up it sounded like the fans were working too hard,so I decided to open the computer case and clean inside.
And now it doesn't boot anymore. Nothing at all on the screens.
I don't know what I did, only the fans are turning when I press the power button. Even the led on the front of the case is not blinking anymore.
I have enjoyed my new graphic card during one hour all in all. Frustration is high.9
Two of my colleagues (one of them is my best friend since school)
Who lead me into quitting my shitty job I don't have fun or any passion for it and giving me a opportunity in their company to start over.
One of my best decisions in 31 years...
Its hard to learn so many new things, but I try my best and these two are great mentors.
Maybe they read this.... so, love you guys! :)
I currently don't have access to my good computer, so I installed a remote control software on it. I also made sure I could turn it on over the internet (Wake on LAN).
This worked well for some time: I powered it on remotely and after a few seconds I was able to connect to it.
Now what I didn't know was that WoL only works if the computer has been shut down completely. It does not work if it's in standby mode.
So I turned it on today, but didn't establish a connection immediately, and after a few minutes, it apparently fell asleep (standby). Now I can't reach it remotely, and I also can't wake it up again with WoL. And as I don't have physical access to it for about a month, so my only hope is that there is a power cut and it will be shut down the hard way.2
So i tried getting some games i play on windows to work with wine and steam.
After swearing and installing all the shitty dependencies it doesnt feel any good. And worst of all i knew not all games are going to work though.
As i wanted a good and portable setup i thought alright maybe this is going to be a good use case for docker. But its a pure nightmare to get everything running fine. At the end i gave up that shit.
So dual boot is still the only way for me to be able to play games without hacks and an unreasonable amount of work.
Using gpu passthrough to kvm is a pure nightmare too. I mean what the hack, the best way to use it is to have two fcking video cards?! And yeah the integrated intel shit graphics are no option.
I mean why the fuck is it even necessary to perform dirty hacks because the most game publishers dont give a fuck about linux.
Seriously it isnt that fucking hard! And Proton is a good step for some games, but only as a temporarily solution, that only exists because of shitty game publishers.
It is horrible, its 2020 and i still cant get fully independent from windows, no matter how hard i try.
Is it that fucking hard to add builds for linux to their shitty games?!20
A question on the CSS position property. I have a hard time understanding position, so I thought I would finally conquer it so that website development it easier.
Q.) Absolute removes the content from the flow and bases its position on the body, unless a container in the body has absolute, meaning the lowest level element finds the highest element that has absolute and bases its position from that and relative keeps it flow as if it was still there and moves relative to is current position in the documents as just a visual, as it does not move the other elements. Am I getting that correct?3
Background: I am working on task x. On successful completion of task x, task y may be given to me. Task x is haaaaaard. My group is not the only player and any fuck up will break my group and at least two others. Now here is my story:
Me: Yeah I am doing this hard thing and that hard thing and getting ready for these hard meetings.
FormerCoWorker fcw (): wow that sounds hard.
CurrentCoWorker ccw (): yeah he's working on task x and task you.
Me me (): what? No I'm not. I am working on task x. Don't go randomly assigning me tasks like that.
ccw: well if you finish task x you will be an expert in section z of code. So it is only natural you take on task you.
me: yeah but task x sucks and task y is why several engineers have quit the company. You never know. You could be assigned task y and quit. Why do I have to take on task y and quit?
NGL, I will do it of they promote me. I may be a whore, but I am gonna get paid.
So. My new machine at work has decided that running visual studio is too hard and our build script has decided that building vcxproj files is too hard. And our one sysadmin for our team of 100+ is the only one allowed to fix it.
Luckily I have an old box that *only* takes 45 minutes to run our build, a hangover, apparently I am going through early manopause because it is hot as fuck in this office, and today is the day that everyone wants to loudly ask every question ever.
I guess what I am saying is I blame everyone else for my bad decisions and project them into my you-me instead of focusing on my me-me. Also I really don't want to talk to the S.A. He is difficult.
Should I learn Angular 2 or Vue 2?
Not asking which one is better, but which one suits my need better:
I want to move from PHP to nodejs frameworks; I know Vue cause it's famous in the Laravel community, but don't know about the node/js community. I heard Angular 2 is hard, but I'm changing my dev stack so might as invest some time in it. So which one should I pick?
Also, what's a good nodejs framework for starters (who aim to build production-ready apps) (also, not planning on doing mobile apps so no need for cross platform js frameworks).
Thanks in advance12
Sometime ago I had to debug a override to a Joomla component made by the trainne.
So the component work just fine on development but not in production. I made the transition myself so I knew the code was the same.
This is my first rant, quite long, hope you like it.
So I thought something went wrong in the database, I searched and didn't find a thing.
Then I decided to check the code... hold yourself now
The component had to support internalization ..so instead of using the proper function to see what the current language is, he made a if with the URL hard coded..
Why does it have to be so incredibly hard to get an nvidia card to work under Linux? The driver is in available, we have the technology but every time I try to get this damned thing to work I end up in front of a fucked XServer and this stupid "Something went wrong" gdm screen only to apt-purge nvidia from my drive and start from the beginning once more.6
So, I'm really really impressed with London. This place has an amazing history, culture, and the people are great. After visiting Copenhagen, Stockholm, Berlin and now London, I love London the most.
I've never tried to get a visa and my American friends tell me it's hard. Well fuck you I don't care if it's hard. All the better if it gives me a goal in life.
I leave at the end of the week but I swear I'm going to get back here next year. Don't care how hard it is.
Also I saw Alan Turing's Bomb. Pictures below.3
Why the fuck is it so hard to write a simple bash script. Syntax so strange and so many symbols you need to know. If you need to do calculations with floating point numbers, the mess is perfect.11
So i got another reason to hate windows.
During decrypting bitlocked external hard drive it got disconnected and guess what the partitions didn't showed up in windows and everytime i connected hard drive windows get stuck. I thought the drive and all data of about 300gb is gone. None of the softwares worked (Also tried diskpart to list disks but it got stuck too). After about a week i live booted linux distro and guess what hard drive is working perfectly in linux.
And decryption was also successful without interruption.
Linux never disappoints.3
Function in a teaching example for a framework, checks for validity of input, dev returns null instead of false when it isn't. In another place, uses !variable to check if variable is 0.
fucking follow the semantics of the code you write cunt why do you have to do this why is it so hard to write variable !== 0
I'm sorry, this really triggers me.
FUCK i just lost 20€
I fucking hate "real" cash. It is dirty unhygienic and you can so fucking easily loose it. I swear losing a Note is a worse pain than cutting yourself or burning your hand. It's just as bad as stomping your head really hard. I HATE THIS FEELING25
Why is it so hard to find a way to make nice frontend on Visual Prolog. I trully hate interfaces that looks like Windows vista.1
...by saying "so what?!"
Either my fears that I'm not good enough to be where I am are founded, in which case I need to be thankful for this opportunity to be "above my station" so to speak, and work hard to make sure I *do* deserve to be there.
...or they're unfounded, in which case I need to work hard to do the best job I can.
In either case, it doesn't change the outcome, so worrying about it is futile. Heck, even go one step further - shoot for the jobs you *think* are above your station, and then see what comes of it.
Ubuntu mate looks good. But man its so hard to remove it. A simple apt-get remove didnt do the trick. Spent a long time removing all packages. Still it is there in the login screen. Let it stay there. I am tired.5
So, working on real multi language support today I was searching for countries and country-codes. Yes this one is easy peasy. Also easy if you want every countryname in your supported languages.
But why is there no source for the states or provinces translated in every language. It's so hard to find...
Anyone knows a source for it? Is it worth to create a project for such translations?1
So I get it is a trying time right now as most people continue to adapt to a physical distancing world. But it is so frustrating that some teachers can't figure out how to start a video meeting 😑
Makes it really hard to be tested on lectures you can't watch.
Also WebEx sucks!
Damn it's hard to alter code, on a big (side)project, that is pretty shitty... And it too big to start over.. :/
I'm just gonna run with it and rewrite the damn app piece by piece as I am writing new features..
It's by the way a project I kinda quit half a year ago or so. Now it's coming back., but better. :)1
K&R style Brackets are so goddamn shitty. I hate hate hate hate that style. It makes code so goddamn hard to read. And for what gain? You write "less" lines of code? So what? Who gives five fucks about that? Readability is key for coders.7
After learning react, webpack, npm, .net webapi core, ef core and some other sweet Tools for my new project it is so hard to go back to jquery, Razor and asp. Net mvc...1
Ugh, making a game engine (It's more like a framework than an engine but idgaf) and it's all based around easy to make content and everything is built using 'mods' hence its name, The Mod Engine but I've been trying to come up with a logo for the engine... Why is it so fucking hard trying to make a logo!
Anyone have any suggestions? :-/1
I was wondering how many of you work out. I have met many of developers but so far very few of them actually work out. And yes I know how hard is to connect full time job and health life :D so how it is in your case?15
Why are hooks so awful?
What justifies having everyone using React relearn how to do things when hooks do not bring any new features to React?
Why does getting setInterval to work with hooks require a ~3000 word blog post by a maintainer which constantly assures you this IS a step forward?
Is scrolling up and down a class component really so hard that this clusterfuck is worth it?
WHAT THE FUCK! why is it so fucking hard to add a startup script in Fedora 15. ARE YOU FUCKING NUTS?7
Why is it so hard to find a good work from home position? I love my home office and I honestly don't get distracted so it would be perfect for me.8
Today is going to be a shitty day, I can already tell!
As much as I want to love cpanel as it makes things easy, it just gets so hard to make things awkward!
We can't run linux on our work machines but I need to build a couple of linux scripts. One drive said it backed up my dev VM...so where is the hard drive file. Its been syncing to my new laptop for a day.2
I FUCKING HATE PEOPLE! DESPISE EVERY DAMNED CELL THAT MAKES THEM HOMO MOTHERFUCKING SAPIENS. EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM! EVEN THOSE THAT HAVE USABLE BRAINCELLS FALL INTO ABBYS OF COMPLETE VOID WITHIN ENDLESS AMOUNTS OF COMPLETE, RETARDED IDIOTS. HOW HARD CAN IT BE TO VERBALIZE A SIMPLE YET COHERENT THOUGHT! IS IT SO HARD TO KNOW WHAT IN THE HELL YOU WANT AND IS IT SO FUCKING HARD TO REMEMBER WHAT YOU SAID! DO YOU EVEN UNDERSTAND WHAT DOES COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY AMOUNT OF WORDS COMING FROM YOUR DISGUSTING MOUTH IS SUPPOSED TO MEAN?! CAN THAT CRIPPLED BRAINCELL OF YOUR GRASP A SIMPLE CONCEPT OF AGREEMENT?!4
What’s the percentage of digitalized vs non digitalized human civilization data right now ?
Is it pen, printer, video tape still winning or hard drive ?
How it progressed so far ?4
Remind me again why we have to use/support a weird entity creating framework across all microservices? So that every entity is consistent? (Who cares? Microservices shouldn't) Because hibernate is hard? (It isn't, and it's better documented than this, which needs hibernate anyway).
I'm just building a fragile distributed monolith.
So I'm a windows person through and through.. I used them at school college and university, but
I've heard a lot about Linux and unbuntu and it's got me a little curious Now the question I'm asking is can someone eli5 what unbuntu is? is it free to use? how hard is it to install? How hard is it to use? What is it good for? work/games/music?5
Silence so I can hear myself think and then just write the first line. It's hard to start, but once I get going it is even harder to stop.
Sometimes I'm afraid of starting because the codingzone switches my brain into an Asperger patient. I just can't socialize afterwards. So if there is a evening meeting morning coding is a no-no.
Read complete Linux revealed book but didn't get to know why it was named so?
How hard was it to write a single line author?
PS: "Kali" is an Hindu Goddess.3
You know what is awesome. React with Redux. It is such a clean and scalable pattern for building UI. Conceptually not that easy but on once you have it. So much better than any other pattern I have seen.
But what fucks me off is working with other librarys with it not hard just fucking annoying.2
I'm betting that it's just me... but this whole (req, res) in express.js is hard to adjust to. It may as well be (r, s) or anything that doesn't look so similar. I'm writing (request, response) but I'm thinking about just using entirely different words that don't start with the same letter.1
I started this project almost a year ago and soon found out that it is the most boring shit ever. So I tortured myself with it to a point on which now I don't get any stuff done because it is so hard for me to continue. Hope I can finish this soon. The only time I'm productive on this is at night... Which isn't the best time to code as a student.
So I've been doing GSoC this summer (sort of a paid project for an open source org.), and have not made it to any milestones whatsoever, even with 10-12 hour days and almost no days off. The other GSoCcers in my organization are just doing amazing, so I wonder wtf is wrong with me. I got past the midterm because my mentor is amazing, but wtf, I fucking exhausted of trying so hard just to fall on the "slightly below average" mark. I'm 21 and I feel too old to do anything great aleady!!
Now I have to quit whining and get back to work.1
Thanks google for making it so fucking damn difficult to authenticate G Apps users and check their groups/org unit. Makes my fucking work so much harder! To make matters worse you decided that that if I want to get the information in a seprate call I have to use a seprate admin account to do it because apparently letting the user see it is to fucking hard.
I've been trying to leave DoD for a couple of months now. Translating my 10 year's experience with complex Intelligence enterprise level systems to something relatable to the civilian IT world. Grabbed a few certs to help out A+, network+ and security+ with Linux+ as my next target. Photos of me working on unclassified systems, radios, cell towers and servers. I'm a teacher for military UAS so this shouldn't be to hard to get even a basic job in IT right.
No one will hire...
Linux admin: Nope
Network admin: Nope
Assistant Network admin: Nope
IT call service: Nope
Pool cleaner fucking nope
Many interviews and nothing
I'm broke and sold all of my personal valuables. I can't hold out much longer and really looking at becoming homeless. But I'm kinda ok with it, one last payment on my apartment and car is all I can do now. My parents think I'm in Afghanistan working a six figure job lol
DoD: we see you're trying to leave we'll pay you alot to teach A+, Network+ and Security+ traveling all across the country and staying at hotels with all expenses paid.
FU FU FU I want out please tell me someone has a job, I'll be a janitor of a server room Idc I just want out. Fuck the pay
I start Tuesday...4
seen a number of AndroidStudio rants
i'm wondering if the plethora of android apps is what made caused AndroidStudio
maybe they were just like, "ya gotta get these number down some how. how about we make it so it's insanely hard to use the standard IDE? like, every time you load up it fuks something up on purpose. ya, that'll stop a lot of people from developing a 2-bit app"
that's what i'm telling myself from now on
Why oh why it's so fucking hard to update perl on gentoo!?
It just shows how broken portage as become.
And everyone seems to have it's own magic incantation of emerge/qlist
Fucking fuck piece of shit gentoo is becoming5
Ardour keeps telling me my hard drive isn't fast enough for playback. I'm using a Thinkpad t420 with an SSD, so the only reason I can think that my hard drive wouldn't be fast enough is if swap is slowing it down. I wanted to record music over winter break but I couldn't because of that issue. Music in Linux is frustrating. I will say that antergos made the process of installing jack, guitarix, rakarrack, and ardour a breeze though, so that's something.4
In my whole carrier as developer. I never felt so helpless as in naming things.
Could be class, method, file name. The worst thing is it become hard as the code base increase.
How you overcome this?8
*Is just writing some pseudocode*
*Tries to find a suitable language in the editor's settings that will highlight it the most because else it's all so dull and hard to read.*
Do you guys think students should get points for bad code?
For me once or twice it really saved my grades when I wrote the ugliest, least efficient and least readable code because my brain stuck during a exam.. It worked so I got full points.
Since I'm relatively inexperienced compared to you people it's hard for me to tell which is the very best approach to a problem. But I know when my code is just shit and I shouldn't be rewarded with good grades for it.
Is 'basically working' worth anything outside of school?7
NodeJS and MongoDB. And tutorials.
Everywhere tutorials show simple example of console.log output of findOne. Good, that works... But when I try to extrapolate example to assign results to variable, it won't work. Inside that fetch anonymous function it works... But outside, simply undefined no matter what I try. Return doesn't return either...
Why it is so hard to make tutorials and examples that would be actually useful. I've spent hours with this already.
And on top of that it is really hard to find tutorials staying with minimum extra dependencies. Like most tutorials in this case throw mongoose in the soup. And I don't want that.
Sometimes makes me question why I try to learn these new things, when I have knowledge of other technologies that I could use faster and easier...3
why is it so hard to find an example of nesting some data in a table row that can expand with a click....2
is it really so hard to attach a single screenshot of the bug you found, instead of the devs recreating all the 144 possible matches just to find the error? D:
Me and my study group have been developing a system for a company the last semester, but the system isn't done at the end of the semester (which is fine) and the company have mentioned that they want to pay us to finish the system.
The problem is that we have a very little knowledge about how much time it is going to take.
So what are we gonna say? It's pretty hard to calculate a price and estimate any time frame2
Why is Drupal counter intuitive and unwelcoming! Why make it hard for new comers!
If you are looking for a feature, you have to code it anyway. So much code under the hood but you always end up using contributed modules or create your own. fck fck fck. So many buggy modules.
fck fck fck1
I hate AWS ec2 instanced with it shitty handling of environment variables...Why in hell it is so hard to set an environment variable which will be re-set in case the instance will be restarted? For hours I'm fighting through manuals and non of the described procedures work2
Started openshift to make send some of apps to cloud, damn it is too annoying. Everything is like 4x time consuming and hard, documentation really lacks, you google some errors? well answer is in red hat site and you can only see that if you are paid subscriber, issues in github are closed randomly(generally like we are going to fix this so no open issues??-written in 2017). If i had any other chance i would take it, like instantly.
Saw my colleague debugging. He's got a try-catch, then I asked, "Why aren't you logging the stack trace?". He answered, "I don't cause it will be a security risk". So there he was having a hard time debugging.🤯
Can you guys confirm if what he said is true?4
So I have a xaml object that is designed for pagination on web pages, and the current page must be at least 1.
But the web service used for the data that go with that object starts its pagination at least at 0.
So everytime I must assure that the xaml object has 1 and the web service has 0 for the first page.
That's not hard, but that's the kind of thing that's annoying, why doing it that way
Just bought a Chromebook Pixel. Love the hardware - Chromebooks in general are a great way to get a Linux laptop with guaranteed driver support.
But why is it still so hard to get decent HiDPI support in Linux (or for that matter Windows) desktop environments?
I realise Apple had an advantage in using vector-based Display Postscript, but massively divergent screen sizes and resolutions have been around for YEARS now, so why is it still such a faff?1
i just learnt how much clearcase sucks the hard way. i always used git for personal projects and am used to finding a simple solution to any problem at most one stackoverflow away, i just messed up my local repo, and experienced people could not manage to undo it. i mean come on, this is a f**king versioning software, how hard can it be to delete everything local and re-pull from remote without messing up configuration files? either clearcase has some serious design shortcomings for my understanding of a versioning software, or it is so overly complicated that nobody actually knows how to revert this mistake.2
I love watching how all these retards who were laughing from people who took the virus seriously from the start turn into the same ones they made fun of and thinking they are the smartest and best. Fucking proud of you all, thank you for doing such a service for all of humanity. Or people who think they "can't" get sick so they endanger the others. Why are people so stupid and they wake up only if it is already too late? Is it so fucking hard to stay at home? To not go skiing? To not be selfish and sit on your fucking arse at home? Fuck!1
So friday night, kids and wife asleep, no alarm for tomorrow, spotify works (VPN does what it should do), tasks went well this week (nothing is burning, nobody is pissed off), good time to learn something new... any suggestions? PARTY HARD!!!3
I yell at my code. Probably irritating my fellow colIegues. I believe software is elusive, hard to catch and even if it has been running smoooooothly for months I still believe it is up to no good. In these days of the emerging of the "AI", things will become increasingly so. Folks will stare at the running system and ask:
"What's it doing!?"
"Don't know, but it can't be good"3
<rant> Why is Apiary's editor so weak? It has no support for navigating from request to its code, it hides inheritance (so in the end you end up navigating source code via ctrl+f which is very cumbersome) and is buggy as hell. It randomly scrolls around, after awhile is laggy, syntax highlighting often breaks on a blank line with few spaces and so on... I wish so hard it would have had a plugin for IntelliJ IDEA with proper navigation and request preview. The web "editor" is just so clunky and generally bad :(.</rant>
So last summer I got a job as a software engineer. It went great for a while, and it came time to go back to school. I'm a senior in high school, and the Sterling Scholar for computer technology, plus I'm in charge of my high schools website. It's getting pretty hard to balance this all out, and I've been considering pausing work until school is finished. What do you guys think? 😐1
Imagine how many programing languages it have now!! I think in future they will come more programing languages and more powerful, i know C is father but it also wrote'd by someone so i don't think so it much hard to make new programing languages in future!!2
I've spent weeks trying to figure out how to set up Visual Shit 2017 with wxWidgets and still haven't figured it out. None of those settings I modified (project properties) worked at all. Months, probably, but just gave up at the end everytime. Nothing I tried worked, but the first time I tried setting it up for CodeLite on Ubuntu, it worked like a charm. All I wanted was to be able to develop cross-platform applications with wxWidgets, was it really that hard? I haven't even thought about cross-compilation from Ubuntu for Windows yet, the very though fills me with dread.
Why the fuck is it so hard to develop something so simple using Windows?2
Yes but you see this function everywhere so why is it so hard for us to implement?
Next time i’m gonna say that this function is everywhere, but why is it so difficult to design?
Me: I hate our current graphing frontend, its super hard to do anything more complex in here and it looks like it was made in the last century, we need a more modern solution!
Also me: Uuuugh, this modern graphing frontend lags my browser soooo much!
Why is dealing with graphs so hard? D:1
GOD DAMN THAT OLD BROKEN DATABASE.
Having to work with a legacy old database system running MySQL 4.0 is a pain. Especially when even finding a frikin manual for the thing is hard af.
And a cherry on top is dealing with encoding and collation in a system, that didn't really have a wide support for it yet.
10/10. At least I am only dealing with it so that we could later shut it down for good.1
Help me decide to choose between nestjs and Adonis js framework for node? I know laravel and angular so it makes hard for me to choose between the two.
Nestjs is angular inspired while Adonis js is laravel inspired. I only have experience with express framework. Thanks!3
Okay, can anyone explain to me why this is the third time in a row that I have to re-disable "fast startup" after a windows-update?
I know, some of you might think that windows sucks, and I agree, to some extent, but I still want to be able to play my games there.
So, is there any rational explanation for the fact that windows seems to suffer from some kind of amnesia when it comes to settings? I don't believe it was either bad intent or complete incompetence from the developers...
Is it a certain design decision? Or is is that hard to implement "persistent" settings storage?3
Trying to teach work experience kids is hard af when you barely know how to explain, you just kinda do it daily so you figure stuff out
Why can we deprecate a regular language like Python 2 (26 months can't come by fast enough) but yet it seems web development is impervious to the idea? If you want to make a website, you must use HTML, CSS, AND JS (or a transpiled language).
I get we use it for backwards compatibility but this combo makes web development so messy and weird, it's hard to understand from a newcomers perspective.
Maybe I'm just too stubborn to understand 🤔3
Wanted backing up my windows files so I can install Linux but my 500gb hard drive is acting up, just closed a pop up telling me installed successfully and it never showed up even on my disk management.. I hope it's not dead, pls is there anyone who has experienced this before? 😰3
I just hate when people say that coding is hard, it's the same as cooking, as long as you follow the steps it can't go wrong.
Also some people suck at cooking too, so some poeple just suck.6
Fuck xrdb and it's shitty documentation. Why is it so hard to setup pywal ? Why can't you put simple docs? Configuring anything sucks!1
Being in the "zone" and having to do some stupid shit immediately. Getting back into the "zone" is hard as fuck and then somebody questions me why it takes so long. Smh 😑
Typescript is so fucking frustrating sometimes to deal with
The snippet above AND below do the EXACT SAME FUCKING THING. But because you double tap, it loses the fucking (not needed) type before the mapTo. If you aren't paying attention, you get this extremely fucking aggravating wall of red.
God damn it, can't this be better? RxJS is pretty fucking important, so why is this so god damned hard to just get some coherent fucking code highlighting!?
So I was writing some text and from time to time it moves me to beginning of line, but I am dumb and miss keys sometimes. I was trying to write fast, click something wrong and bam - fucked my text.
But actually fucking not, there is some shitty bug on my Manjaro machine for sure and usually hard to reproduce (happens in Firefox at messenger, libreoffice at writer) and now on fucking godot after two seconds it moves me to start of line every fucking time.
I am not even sure if it is just Manjaro stuff, because I don't remember if it happens on Windows, too
Why is it that nobody can seem to figure out you need a god forsaken "cause" field of type Error in your Error class
How is this so fucking hard to understand for language makers3
I use a Windows 10 OS and the browser popup sometime (not always so it hard to debug) when I open my computer.
Does the browser goes to other website? No the browser just show default page.
Is it a malware?I always keep my update AV so I am not sure.16
*Put random technology here* fucks me so hard. God damn it its so bad for my made up reasons. I did a fucking mistake at some point and now something of that falls back to me.. blah blah
God I hate blaming technology for your mistakes. Don't get me wrong, there is bad shit out there. But this random bashing is annoying.
