Admin: "Wait, I noticed unusual traffic."
Me: "What is it?"
Admin: "Looks like we have a bot here."
Me: "A bot? Didn't know we are so popular."
Admin: "It makes constantly login requests through our API, it already surpassed 600.000! I will ban it right away."
Me: "wait, that just sounds like my bot.."
Admin: "DUDE, WTF? ARE YOU SERIOUS?"
When there is bug, you don't know of, it can end up quite embarrassing.11 -
A friend asked me to test a program he made
So i downloaded it, and i noticed that i crash when you try to minimize the window
After i tell him about the bug, he send me a new version, and said "I fixed it, it was pretty easy"
He just removed the minimize button
"to remove a bug, remove the feature"4 -
One time I was in a meeting and the UX Director fell asleep (like he had done before) but this time did a little quiet snoring. I was cracking up. A few other people noticed but he was off to the side so most just tried not to wake him and eventually he woke up.5
-
Guess who refused the the request to return at work after being fired unfairly? After months they understood they're wrong and they need me or just they noticed that no one wants to work in those conditions?12
-
At the Apple Store in my devRant hoodie and got noticed by an employee..
Her: what's your username?
Me: brod 😬, what's yours?
Her: julia! Have you seen the new MacBook Pro?
...
Turns out, there's no @julia, now I have a $2,800 MacBook that I didn't need (nope, not the pro, just the shit one).53 -
I was in McDonald's and annoyed to see queues for all the self-service machines. I noticed one of them had nobody queueing though. Several people walked up to it, looked for two seconds, then just walk away. So naturally I had a look myself, and I saw that it was just a string displaying a bit wrongly. Hah!
So I walk up, close that order then make my own. Nothing at all wrong with it, people just have no clue about how computers work. Nobody even tried pressing the buttons after seeing that.
Of course I put it back to the broken screen before I left. I like chaos.rant ignorant people save me time mcdonald's literally whole minutes saved definitely won't be updated for ages huge companies screw up strings too7 -
Just noticed YouTube got inspired by porn video sites and now they are showing very short preview of video on thumbnail hover.
Nice but not that useful feature for non porn video site.5 -
I just noticed I'm programing while wearing a black hoodie, using vim.
I hope nobody uses me for making shitty stock-photos.9 -
Reinstalled my dedicated server and realized (afterwards) that I just erased my entire openvpn/mysql auth setup and I don't have an entirely working copy.
FUCK.
Okay, nothing I can do about that afterwards, setup csf right away, monitored the auth log for a minute and noticed one ip which had just connected and found it weird somehow. Blocked the ip.
Then, one second later, as my console stopped responding and that ip address suddenly looked veeeery familiar, I realized I just blocked myself. (the blocks persist across reboots)
😐
Went to the control panel and hit the reinstall button. Confirmed, and two seconds later I realized I could just have connected to any of my own fucking vpn services to unblock myself.
What in the living fuck is wrong with me @_@30 -
So, a couple of weeks ago I started a temporary job writing code mostly for DB purposes. I noticed during that time there was a specific person just copying my code and not giving credit in the meetings. So I decided to put a small, quirky, joke in my last code just to see if the person reviewed it before presenting.
FF to yesterday, the person did not check the code and he presented a table with a field called PENIS Contract Length in our zoom meeting.
Not sorry at all9 -
Just noticed the date format mm/dd/yy. Can we switch (or give an option to switch) to a superior to format like dd.mm.yy or iso 8601
@dfox20 -
Got assigned to fix a bug in a validation function that would always return true even if the data is invalid.
I looked at the code from the function and noticed that the only line of code in the function was "return true;"
Apparently, the programmer who wrote this function a few years ago got fired and no one ever finished his work.
Now it amazes me that no one ever has looked at the problem and just assumed it would be a complicated bug.7 -
I'm currently programming on the cms REST api for the privacy site (its finally getting somewhere by the way) and I just noticed that I'm programming way cleaner and WITH comments.
My subconcious is probably keeping the fact that the entirety of devRant will see my code in a not too far future 😅20 -
Just figured out that a server configuration I made about 3 months ago resulted in one of our main sites being offline.
No one fucking noticed it.
For 3 fucking months.
Amen.6 -
Started learning C++, coming from Python.
Just spent ~25 minutes searching for a problem - My code wasn't working like I expected.
Problem: Didn't compiled the program, kept running old code, didn't noticed8 -
My teacher was presenting and her pp crashed. She just continued with her presentation but her desktop was showing. I instantly noticed she had a "stickynote" with her login details for our grading system and I tried telling her to put her laptop to sleep or anything but she got mad at me for interupting class and threw me out of class. My revenge will be showing admins the picture of her desktop ;)6

I have a pi-hole setup in my network for ad and tracker blocking and am dual-booting my pc.
I recently noticed just how much data windows really is trying to gather from my machine.
So I took the pi-hole graph and you can VERY clearly see the os switch. All this useless traffic coming from windows. (This is with all the privacy relevant options inside the settings already turned off!)15 -
Completely losing my shit over a 'class Predis\Autoloader already defined' error.
Just noticed that I already created the object five lines up
How fucking retarded am I?! I mean, I've been debugging this for a WHOLE FUCKING HOUR.
Let's just blame it on the alcohol 😅7 -
Something is not working with PTR DNS records right now.
It's getting really frustrating and I'm starting to DuckDuckGo the issue.
Just noticed that I typed this:
"how to setup a fucking ptr record".
I didn't type the 'fucking' intentionally.
😆😅9 -
So I just started to use devRant on browser and noticed it shows the whole text from a rant, instead of putting read more just like the one on phone. Created a script for that thanks to @JoshBent12

I just noticed the huge amount of Germans on this platform. Gather together, my fellow Schnitzels! 🍻24

I just noticed that when you do The Nod™ to other men, you nod up if you know the person and you nod down if they are strangers.8 -
The reason why I changed my username ( I'll just be honest here )
I was working on a website. I noticed that entries were submitting yesterday but today new entries were not showing up on database. It was like my database refused to insert new rows but there was no new error in log. I kept trying for almost half an hour, read all the answers on stackoverflow, read docs, tried different methods. Nothing worked. I was fucked up. Completely fucked up.
In frustration, I just stared my database for 10 mins without a single blink, and then I noticed this thing 'showing 25 out of 78 rows'
(-_-)
I clicked on 'show all'
AAAAAAND
I felt retarded.
Okay I can give an excuse that last time I saw a database was a year ago, but still.. how retarded you need to be to not see this FUCKIN 'SHOW ALL' when it is on the TOP of the FUCKIN TABLE!!6 -
I just noticed programmers can cite Shakespeare in 1 character.
"To be or not to be..." = 2b|!2b = true = 17 -
Only now just noticed the 18:9 aspect ratio is just 2:1 and now I feel really stupid for trying to work out some sprite dimensions...6
-
I think I'm doomed when it comes to posting the kinds of rants that get upvotes. The pattern I've noticed is that profanity-laden rants get more love than ones that are more tame. I was raised old-school, so profanity isn't my thing. Guess I'll just sit back and watch.6

A day of an iOS developer life:
1. XCode crashed
2. XCode freeze
3. XCode "Jump to Definition" takes me to a different file that has the exact same variable name instead of jumping to the top of the file
4. XCode Storyboard designer throwing 1000000000 as UIStackView width on a newly created UIView
5. Heart attack
6. Lots of depression
** Note:
just noticed devRant web has xcode as placeholder in the tags box lol devRant knows my pain T_T8 -
So they discovered a small tiny bug in a thing anyone last touched about 3 months ago. It has been there for at least 6 months, and JUST NOW someone noticed it. But OF COURSE that bug is important enough to have me drop FUCKING EVERYTHING that I'm doing, despite us being very short on time already!
Fucking hell, if nobody noticed that shitty little crap bug the past 6 months how can it possibly be so important. Good thing I don't have a large wooden mallet nearby.
So thanks so much for having me fix this RIGHT NOW, or rather IN THREE FUCKING HOURS or however it'll take to set up this project's dev environment... absolute horseshit.2 -
Oh Boy!! Just thought this is an app for tutorials and how too stuff.. now noticed it's better than reddit... Catched my self spending hours here and not doing my work xD13
-
Had this a week ago. Was setting my alarms for the morning and noticed that (I always run one test alarm just to be sure) the alarm sound wasn't working for whatever reason.
*maybe I should turn it off and on again?*
*nah that's bullshit, it should just work like this, if not, something is seriously wrong!*
*goes to sleep while running the alarms on an old phone*
*tries to do the turning it off and on again anyways next day*
*IT WORKS*
*Le me feeling like a very stupid end user 😐*7 -
I just noticed this in silicon valley season 2, during the porn transfer. Clever reference to 2g1c. 🤣3
-
Just noticed on "winehq" that the acronym for "Wine" is "Wine Is Not an Emulator". This is great and all, but all my mind can think about is the infinite recursion problem they've got there.11
-
Manager: *taps dev on shoulder* Hey I noticed a minor bug I think
Dev: Sigh…. So then create a ticket for it
Manager: Can’t you just fix it right now?
Dev: I can but I’m currently working on that other issue you told everyone was “top priority” at the morning status meeting. Should I switch to actioning this minor bug instead?
Manager: Don’t switch just multitask and work faster!
Dev: …8 -

Was just reminded of this by another rant: http://www.codewars.com
Fun for practicing code challenges. Also noticed you can give yourself a 'clan', so if anyone wants to sign up put 'devRant' as your clan and we can get a bunch of devRanters together 👍☺9 -
I noticed some users with very high votes and looked at their posts. All of the posts were just positive statements. Let me try. "I think computers are wonderful. It's so exciting to build out the ideas of my dreams and help others."11
-
Just noticed that I've been swapping the error and success messages for the past hour.... Yeah I should really go to bed now..
-
Wk92 reminds me of the time when our professor spent 45 minutes talking about the difference between absolute and relative URLs.
45 FUCKING MINUTES!!
I was about to just pack up in and leave mid-class because I couldn't take it anymore. But he noticed, looked at me, then continued talking with the most annoying smug smile on his face.
He knew that if I got another warning, he could get me almost kicked out.
I just sat in the back, headphones in, slowly dying.
And he just smiled...8 -
So mum wanted me to purchase her a new lettop.
Yeah, we just spoke.
While consulting on what she needs, I noticed that little flaw. So I gently told her :"mum, it's written with an A".
Mom goes:" aaaah! A LAB-TOP!"
Could not blame her. She made her life as first best scoring woman in business degree at her time.
And sure enough she understood laptop and we laughed a lot ='D2 -
I have noticed on here, there is a direct correlation between the number of swear words in a post and that posts ++ count. As a programmer who doesn't swear (I know, "just give it a few years" or "YOUR NOT A REAL PROGRAMMER!!" [side note, I also don't drink coffee]), I guess my ++ counter will only ever be allocated 1 byte...10
-
Just noticed that the Firefox mobile browser plays YouTube video in the background.
I am curious... Bug or feature10 -
Logged in to devRant after an year.
MindFuckingBlown.
The web version has changed so much. And I just noticed I have been registered here for more than 2 years now.
So glad to be back guys. *misses a bracket*
@dfox Can I get the devRant goodies now which I never received? Since eternity? I have even changed countries so lets see. :)2 -
Found a bug, reported it to the maintainer.
He then tells me to ignore it since no one noticed it (besides me).
I tell him i can't do it since it's just wrong and he can simply fix it.
Turns out he's just lazy as hell and got mad at me, so i go and fix it.
Next day boss is mad at me because i'm wasting time on tasks that it's not of my concern even knowing all my tasks were completed.
Not even a "thank you by the way".
What did i miss here?4 -
On my way home, just noticed, that the display in the train, is only sorting the connections in the trainstation by time, but not by date. (SBB in Switzerland, in case you're wondering)5
-
Uh-oh shit went wrong with umpteen thousand jobs in a pointer heavy, multi-threaded application in raw C. Fuck, some pointer gone wild?!
30 minutes later, after trying to find out how many jobs it takes to start failing. Noticed that it's about the default settings. Wait what? That's where the realloc'ing should kick in, check that.
Aahhhh. Maybe I shouldn't zero the whole buffer after realloc, just the new part. D'uh! -
Noticed my RAM usage was around 41% when just browsing internet. So, getting more RAM was a good move, until I saw the usage shoot to 52%.
And you already know who eats that much RAM.
PS: Maybe it's some extension, because I just have 2 tabs open and killing that process didn't kill any tab.8 -
One thing I've noticed about devRant is the ratio of web dev/mobile dev posts to database/architecture/big data dev posts. There's A LOT of you web peeps out there, and not enough data dudes, which I guess justifies my constant demand, salary and lack of competition. Just an observation.9
-
I decided to make some minimalist icons for my launcher. What do you guys think?
Edit: I just noticed the devrant color is slightly too light. Will fix soon8 -
I think most people are annoyed by the new design of chrome, for all the wrong reasons - I just noticed the TLS indicator lock is now gray when encrypted, giving you the idea of a website being not fully secure imho6
-
My Flask App all of a sudden started throwing 'Error 500 - Internal Server Error' pages at me for a new subpage I made.
I couldn't figure WTF was wrong because the method responsible for the page literally just returned the HTML-template.
After giving up yesterday night, I noticed this morning that I forgot the quotes around the HTML-file name...2 -
Glassdoor is the perfect example of how annoying, even just opening a website can be, first it asks for your permission to use your location, then half the screen is filled with a cookie agreement and after you clicked it all away, you get a "download our app" filling just 30% of your screen, now that you clicked that all away, you may use the website, ludicrous.
edit: well fuck, just noticed the app message glitched away when taking the screenshot, you get the idea though6 -
Just wasted a ton of time trying to figure out why my circuit wouldnt work properly and then noticed...2
-
Earlier today I went to the store to buy some new goods. Noticed some other person who was listening to music.. wirelessly, just like I often do. Wow, that's not something that I see every day. Normally everyone still has these wired headsets. So I took a closer look.
…
I shouldn't have. He was wearing AirPods. You were so close bud.. so close!3 -
Wow..I just noticed that you can upvote a rant by double tapping on it ..just like instagram.. I just started instagram..so noticing it now..6
-
I use Windows at home. Linux at work.
The last couple of days I was "forced" to work in Windows due to the need of Microsoft Word for documentation.
I just noticed today, that when I rebooted and entered Gnome shell again, it felt like coming home.
:)6 -
Looking at git blame, I think I broke a feature 8 months ago. Not obviously broken, just one of the data fields is empty in one of our calculations.
I don't know if it's better or worse that nobody noticed...11 -
Idk if anyone here noticed.... sudo sounds like 速度 in Chinese, which means quickly. So the every time I use this command I just feel like I'm rushing computer to do something for me5
-
Just added an RSS feed to my blog (https://nixmagic.com/rssfeed.xml/ if you're interested), and as I was testing it out in an RSS reader, I noticed that the reader basically just renders the webpage as if it were a web browser.
Heh.. I have only the Webkit engine on my computer, so I suppose it's just using that in the backend or something like that? How much RAM does that consume?
*looks at Task Manager*
67MB. I shit you not.. 67 megabytes. And that is rendering an entire website with no noticeable differences from a regular web browser.
Chrome: *gobble*9 -
Theres a debate in my company about whether or not to be using RxSwift on iOS apps. I'm not 100% convinced. Today we had two submissions for a coding challenge come in. One uses nearly all the same Rx modules this company does, one was vanilla Swift.
Just by chance noticed the vanilla app writer contributed ~5k lines of code to the challenge overall. Including libraries, the Rx one contributed ~45k.
That to me is just bat shit crazy. It would want to be the most amazing, time saving, bug reducing thing the world has ever seen to justify that volume of code.4 -
Just noticed:
In every programming language, your first goal usually is to write "Hello World".
Except for php. There "phpinfo();" is the equivalent of that.2 -
@dfox just noticed a bug (or is it a feature?)
If you happen to double tap a rant slow enough that it doesn't +1 it. But fast enough that the rant view isn't opening yet it seems to register two single tap events and opens two views, needing to go back twice do return to the feed.
Not sure if that's important enough to report as a bug. :)
Ps: I'm on a LG G4, android 6.05 -
Never call me unfair.
A few years(!!) ago, I ranted about how you had to update the visual studio updater before you could update visual studio (which I still think is a valid rant)
Today I noticed that the visual studio installer just does this itself silently now. Therefore, I choose to apply praise to this welcome change and in the name of justice and fairness, recognize this vast improvement.
*ahem*.... GG VS20224 -
My friend ha just big exam in their programming class. They got the assignment week before and were allowed to use libraries. They were using Java and Maven repos. He created his own Maven repo and added finished assignment as a library. He just added his repo to the gradle project and selected his library as a dependecy. He then created one class with main method, 10 lines of user input and called main method from his library. Since the school newly tests students work automatically, he instantly passed with 100% and had to look like hes actually working for next 3 hours 😂. Noone noticed anything after 2 weeks 😂1
-
@dFox really loving devRant, but I feel like the site should require text with picture posts or something. Noticed a trend where people are just using this as a meme aggregator instead of rant site.
Myself and many others try to give context to memes for ranting purposes, but I'm noticing some users are clearly after up votes.14 -
Just noticed my boss turned a nice and beautiful polymorphic code into a fucking hard to maintain switch case that now this mother fucker here has to maintain just because he probably thought it was too hard to understand.
I bet he finds it hard to fuck his wife in any way other than the one she needs to wear a strap on and tear his ass apart...2 -
Just noticed that the media control keys on my keyboard are recognized by the Google Play Music webapp3
-
I've just noticed there are dogs available as pet too now.
No wolves available though unlike big cat.8 -
Have you noticed that many core Linux C programs use "die" as the error-and-exit method name?
Just shows how much these devs think of Linux processes as living people.
Now one of us just has to create a Skynet without the die() function.1 -
Just went to book something online. About to click the "Pay" button and noticed the page wasn't secure. Who the hell, in 2017, captures credit card details via insecure 'http'??? And 'https' worked on the home page but not the payment page!! Backed out of that, messaged them and we'll see if anything comes of it.3
-
I just watched this documentary called "take your pills" and seeing the weird programmer they interviewed I got curious about how many DevRanters use Addy as a coding booster? Would you consider it just a normal performance enhancer like caffeine? Have you tried it?
I've only noticed coffee heads like myself here and I was wondering if some of the people that aren't are against the use of Adderall too.
I'd love to hear some thoughts on the subject.37 -
I'm on a train paying no attention to what station I'm at... Only just noticed there are no announcements in this cabin... Must... Pause... Devrant...binge...2
-
Just logged into Google play dev console and noticed an app i made a couple years ago at a conference has 300 downloads and a good rating. I don't care to share the app name though, as it may tarnish the rating if other developers saw it, haha.

When I was very young, I remember I couldn't remember anyone's name.
I just yelled "HEY!" until the right guy noticed me.
(that was when I was about 5 years old.)13 -

Stress and anxiety are bitches. I'm sure that mostly everyone here already knows that. Sometimes life is just a fucking mess, and no matter what you do, it just gets worse and worse.
Personally, shit's just gotten so bad lately. A bit more than a year ago life was shit and I started pulling out my hair, then I noticed I had a bald spot after about a week and I did everything I could to stop. Managed to stop, until recently. Right now I have a fair sized bald patch right on the top of my head after about a month of pulling. At least I have long hair (about chest length) so I can just put it up to cover the spot.
This community has been the thing keeping me sane lately and I just wanted to thank you guys for just doing what you do. I'm a fucking mess and just need an outlet11 -
Today I was working in a university studyspace. Some girl noticed my dark theme IDE, running some tests and such and assumed that I'm a computer guru. She then asked me if I could help her with MS Excel or MS Word. To which I answered "sorry, no". She might've just been trying to start something with me, but that was a deal breaker hahaha (seriously tho, if I were in a better mood I would have helped her)9

Just arrived in Sydney 2 days ago and reported for work yesterday. I looked at my laptop's clock and it said its 4:40pm. Cool! Another 20 min and I'm off.
I started fiddling around with my machine settings and noticed my Location setting is off. I switched it on. My time is updated to 2:43pm.
MOTHERF****!!!1 -
Something I've noticed over my many jobs. "Professional" means entirely different things at different jobs, and doesn't follow fields either. That is, "Professional" in one field is understandably different from another, but businesses inside the same field also have different definitions of it.
It's almost as if "Professional" is just a euphemism for saying "we expect you to act a certain way, but are being passive aggressive about it so we can't be called out for it".3 -
I decided to create this so that my head would not need to look down. I noticed when just putting laptop on my knees my head has to look down and it causes headaches when looking down. So this "desk" make me no need to look down.
The desk has wheels so you can relatively easily move away from bed.
So prototype is done, now this could be improved to look better. Idea for furniture makers - you could do this and sell :)20 -
Got this as wallpaper and just now i noticed that the output is actually "I CODING"
Since the show_love function is not being called out3 -
I just noticed visualizing git is like a timeline with alternate realities and a lot of time travel. The main branch is the main timeline and the branches are like fixes from the past to try and make the future better they merge when the future is fixed otherwise if someone or something fucked up time traveling it becomes the main timeline.

My client thinks Internet Explorer is the only Internet Browser in the world. I argued with her for 10 minutes then I noticed she felt a bit stupid. I was afraid she might stop further payment so I said "I was just joking, you can chill now".1
-
Got a weird bug report, 6 red bull later i'm a energizer bunny on speed. But have found and fixed a severe underlaying bug. Can't believe noone had noticed for years.
Now i'm afraid to report it to my boss cause it most likely costed us a lot of money over time. And I just got shafted in the pay raise so my loyalty is low.2 -
Noticed a rant on here about transactions not redirecting the user back to the previously visited page, on certain sites. Just implemented the functionality to my shitty little project and I currently feel better than the big players.1
-
I was working on a game, and my monitor randomly blacked out and my computer stopped dead. My lights were still on so it wasn't a power cut. I look at my computer and I noticed it's completely covered in Diet Coke. So, I take it apart and cleaned them inside out, whilst I waited for any drying. I stole my dad's desktop and just put the hard drive in. Continued coding. So I guess the moral of the story, don't spill Coke on your PC.2
-
Have you noticed that mac users rarely use full screen mode? Its so hard to use that they just leave half sized windows, its so annoying when I have to ask every time if they can make it bigger18
-
I just noticed I didn't say "Hello world!" when I first got on devRant... so...
MessageBox.Show("Hello world! 💙");4 -
So I noticed people are increasingly putting their preferred pronouns on their social media, email signatures, résumés, etc. I also noticed a certain amount of praise gets ladled onto the ones who are other than their cisgender while heaps of scorn come at those whose pronouns match their apparent gender. Especially if they dare defend an idea that non-cis people are against.
Is this the world we live in now? Or is my little corner of the online world just a non-representative fluke, and non-cis people are actually more tolerant than I’m seeing?8 -
Someone else always have git log like this??

I just noticed that devrantron modified (bug) my rant (see the undefined in times)3 -
A funny story I just remember while my code is compiling :
Back in high school, in Math, we were taught how algorithm works, and we made some exercises with practical examples.
I didn't know anything about it back then, so was curious. Was pretty fun, but one day, my teacher said that a IF is a loop. I said "no, this is a test" but she keeps saying that it was a loop, ignoring me (I dunno if she actually heard me) and no one actually noticed it as she repeated it several times (while I was saying that it's not). I just gave up trying to say it's wrong.8 -
Have u guys noticed internet dev advice is fucking awful now.
“Don’t worry about web performance”
“You don’t need an ID on an input tag”
“Don’t use just react anymore, use a combined framework like next”17 -
Just noticed the notifications now display ++'d instead of +1'd, my brain can now rest easy knowing...3
-
After consecutive days of no sleep for a few weeks I noticed I didn't get my DevRant weekly digest (moment of venting) and couldn't remember if it just hadn't been a week since my last or just a few long days and realized how true this was...1

Seriously I suspect something boiling in Germany... I may just be getting paranoid, but lately I have seen an unusual amount of helicopters above Hamburg even at night. And not rescue helicopters or TV or anything, dark ones with all lights off in the night. That one night I noticed a distant hum in the air and looked outside. I may just have been tired but I thought I saw helicopters with only red lights on in the distance above Hamburg. It sounds impossible, but I even heard gunfire (a rattling popping sound) and saw light stripes in the air which looked like legitimate shots to me (and I played Arma so I know what I am talking about👉). But it was too far away to be sure and honestly I cant believe myself because other people should have noticed. But no lie, there is something going on. Just saw a helicopter again.10 -
After ranting about the Google play search, I just noticed that devRants tag search is even worse. not even close!4
-
I just noticed that the about page doesn't go all black. Is it a bug or is it intentionally left that way?7
-
@dfox
I just noticed that I can't select text from rants or comments on my android phone. I wanted to quote a part of the rant. Is this intentional?6 -
Has anyone else noticed the blackest black theme messing up with the divider lines again?
Maybe it's just me...2 -
Just noticed my Students Union sent out a newsletter for International Women's Week that went straight into the spam folder.
Usually get the other newsletters. Just thought that was a bit funny.2 -
So I just noticed something.
When I am using my client when I am connected to LTE and not a good WiFi signal, the app hangs every time you want to vote on a post/comment because I didn’t make it non-blocking. This will be fixed in the next few days!
It’s amazing how experience degradation can be absolutely invisible depending on your connection. -
Has anyone else noticed that the notifications screen's title is just "Notifs" even though it could've been "Notifications"?2
-
I noticed this morning that someone switched the keys around on my keyboard. I asked my coworkers about it and they said they did that as a prank went I was out on vacation. That was the first week of August and I just noticed...4

i noticed just know that the scrollbar in Devrant kinda moves like a caterpillar. especially with long posts.3

This is the most wtf thing that happened me with Javascript, I had a regular expression and it caused bugs only with 4 digits long words, then I just noticed this:
/^.{3}$/.test(null) // false
/^.{4}$/.test(null) // true
What the fuck, I can't believe that who designed the .test method didn't think to avoid null coercion2 -
I noticed I adopted a method when people just can't answer something simple like "well how long is it going to last?" and then getting an answer like "I don't know", which to I reply "Well, what's the average it lasts?" and they suddenly remember it again, fucking knobs2
-
I just noticed that I'm super fucking anxious about whatsapp and such when people take too long to answer.
Although I have to stop looking at my phone every fucking minute (not joking) , people taking 5+ hours to answer is ridiculous too.12 -
Only just noticed that CSS has variables - when the fuck did this happen and where the hell was I when it did!!!!6

As I sit and stare at code, and then stare at the Bills I need to pay as the month starts. I began to think, what if I too was part something new in Tech. Everytime, I see people creating new Tech, getting noticed, I wish I was there on forefront.
Then it gradually dawns on me, "you are just here to make ends meet, survive in the corporate world. Why care about the world. Let it go as it is."
"A shitty life".3 -
How are improperly tagged posts handled? In order for the categories to work, it'll require cooperation from the users. I've also noticed some posts that weren't tagged correctly. Just curious 🤷2
-
I have noticed that C/C++ developers that deal with backend server technologies are very much likely to resort to PHP for some reason. I have noticed it from serveral developer friends of mine or simply by noticing how the topic comes along sometimes on web discussion forums.
I believe this is the reason why certain extension codebases that deal with php are(for the most part) exclusively done in C++, take Phalcon, written as an extension in C or PHP Swoole, which is written in cpp iirc.
I wonder what attributes does the language, or the tech stack as a whole has that would make this particular kind of developers feel attracted to the platform. Is it that is easy and widely available and they just say "fuck it, I don't wanna spend too much time in this shit" <--- which is a very valid point really.
Or them just having an innate preference towards it?
The Psychology Behind Developers: By Dr AleCx0417 -
Just had a discussion with a coworker. I noticed he was storing dates as string in mongodb, saying it was better for comparison and because he stored them in UTC. WTH, mongo already stores all dates in UTC and a string date is imposible to compare. I wasted 8 hours finding that last part out.6

Oh my God I didn't even noticed I crossed 1000++ in just 2 weeks of newly activated me! Over 400++ in fucking 2 WEEEKKKSS!!!
THANK YOU GUYS I LOVE YOU8 -
Just noticed the stuff on my desk now matches my profile... Except for the duck...
Maybe should've taken one after all...
OK no dual monitor but this monitor is probably just as big as 2...9 -
Why does the 'save image' feature in 'DevRant' Android App take so long? I mean it's just saving the image from ram to storage right.... also the image sizes are pretty small.
Okay just noticed they aren't getting saved anywhere...😅13 -
So, today in the office we all decided chipotle for lunch. We create the team order and sent it out to the entire office.
First thing we noticed: online ordering looks really good and has finally been updated.
Second thing we noticed: it never got tested and it doesn't work
Result: 7 angry developers who just wanted some burrito bowls start emailing chipotle tech support3 -
So i left my job as an android dev earlier (nothing big, just didnt wanna juggle school and work) and as the year started i noticed that somehow i ended up working as an android dev again but this time in c#. There's no escape.9

I changed my default search engine to DDG for some weeks to try something new. Sadly I must say that it isn't for me. At least not in the company I work. Reason is: we use a German CMS with most Forum posts written in German and I noticed really fast that Google just gives me much better results on specific issues.
Are you guys happy with DDG?9 -
I just noticed, it seems no one rants much about their work or work mates anymore... Or ever?
Guess I missed the notice...14 -
Just noticed that it's possible to get a negative vote count on a devRant profile. So I'm wondering if it's possible to underflow the vote count? @dfox3
-
I just helped a blind person find his way to the exit of a train station as I noticed they were searching for it, but missed it due to a small step to the wrong direction. There's hardly a better feeling than helping out with the small and simple stuff!
What good deed did you do today?9 -
I don't know what happens to me today.
As always, I've gone to work, but when I sit on front of computer, I felt unable to code.
Not afraid of coding, not exactly unmotivated. Just my head is not able to code.
It's strange, because until now always I'd felt so motivated with this project. But today I've spent 3h on front of computer and I've not been able to write a single line of code.
Maybe I need holidays and I didn't noticed.3 -
Anybody else likes stealth games?
Was playing styx yesterday and i noticed that i sit idle for minutes, observing patterns and sketching up the path i will take and then i just execute it. It felt like making an algorithm or training a model.6 -
I got told I lift my mouse a lot and I noticed, I actually do, does anybody else here lift the mouse to reset to the center of the mousepad, to a more neutral position or to just soften the drag from the cable often?10

Hey just noticed the app updated... Looks like a pretty big change but pretty nice. one thing though was wondering. How does it decide the length to show?
I see some posts are really long but others are shorter and get the Read More cutoff15 -
Go rubber duck. Seriously, for the people that don't know:
If you're stuck with a particular problem just try to explain the code out loud to yourself, a coworker or said rubber duck. Having to actually put the whole thing into words might give you insight into something you've not noticed before!
Disclaimer: cursing at yourself for likely stupidity is not only allowed but encouraged!1 -
Someone once used to auto-format most of our code in his branch. He merged it 4 days long and deleted multiple changes in the trunk doing that. 3 months later I noticed that a few of my changes were just gone.2
-
I just noticed that my hotel room card is a simple, unprotected NFC card that has a whopping 8x8x16=1024 bit allocated. If I had another NFC tag with my I'd be tempted to copy it and play around with it a bit...12

And so.. I have noticed.. every time I ignore Windows updates for a little while.. the laptop just starts shitting. It gets so fucking slow that you can’t even move the cursor properly. So you have to force shut down the laptop and turn it ON.. and Windows starts updating!
Not at all irritating 😊3 -
I use a stand on of of my laptops, so the thing is normally inclined.
Today i just decided to lay it flad and noticed a strange purring sound coming from one of the fans.
I just thought it was funny since I don't recall of a time in which the laptop was not flat3 -
I just searched like half an hour for a book.. Then I started tabbing to Google but it wasn't working.. I was a bit shocked when I noticed this was real live.2

What on earth are some developers thinking. Was just browsing the Casio website, using Chrome and noticed the following message. How hard is it to display a message when actually needed, instead of all the time. Good watches, poor development :/2

Debugging ♡
Taking first steps in Express.js. It's in general the first web framework i've learned so the struggle was greater.
While I was creating a web app, i've noticed that suddenly all of the routes were redirecting to the 404 error page. I was looking for the cause of this issue for an hour just to find this:
route.get ('/ ', ...);
So it seems that just one space sign wasted 1 hour of my day.
Btw, it's my first rant there so 👋 to everyone :)4 -
Is there a thing like getting shadowbanned from downvoting on devrant or people just running bots that automatically upvote them if they hit negative upvotes?
Whenever I downvote anything thats at 0 upvotes (for ex. even spam that just didnt get noticed, where I cant report it on desktop), it instantly gets nulled, even on the most hidden and old rants.
I dont think theres always a registered user per every single rant out there at any given time that upvotes somebody. (often very deep down the comments)13 -
Tell me what you want but ChatGPT is the best dev companion ever.
I've just submitted 700 lines of JS code with various complex functions because I had an issue for some specific cases I couldn't identify.
In less that a second ChatGPT noticed a missed argument in one of the many function calls... mind blowing.
It's something I would otherwise notice after hours of debugging, looking for a needle in huge functions.9 -
That moment when you fixed that "unexpected feature" just by adding one line of code.
I wish I had noticed it earlier... -
We're hiring contract developers at my office. Just leafing though someone's CV before an interview and noticed it was 10 pages long! That's been a record so far but to be honest so many have been 4-6 pages long. What happened to keeping things succinct and relevant!?10
-
Wow..just logged into my university admin page and noticed that the passwords are all sent case insensitive to the server...
Huh?2 -
I wish I had that self esteem a lot of my classmates posses.
I'm working for my prof, I've kinda made my very first step into the industry. Somewhere deep inside I know I'm talented and smart. However, every day I am worried that I'm not good enough and it will be noticed at the job soon.
Is that common thing in Dev community? Just want to know opinions7 -
Call me an idiot... Yesterday I just installed Arch Linux. Guess what happened?
I formatted my fedora-drive and then noticed I destroyed my bootloader. Please just kill me😫 Anyone had such problems too and maybe could give me some advice how to fix?5 -
"I don't think we should be playing with our privates {variables} like that" - framework designer
= context =
It was noticed that we have too many setter functions to change private variables just to do unit tests. So we had a small meeting to discuss what to do about this.
Options:
- don't do the test
- ignore till another time (ie: keep the functions till its a problem)
- put the variables into a provider
- use reflection (the above quote was a reaction to this option)6 -
Hello and welcome come to hell for developers. Take a seat at any open computer.
You may have noticed we did away with the fire and brimstone.
Instead we just have you maintain the legacy code from your first job.
It's genrally html, php, javascript, and css all on the same page and all mixed together.
We would say have fun, but that's not really the point.2 -
I committed my credentials and pushed to GitHub once. Took me a week to notice. Luckily it was just a personal project and no one noticed.

For years I've been saying software is "depreciated" , today I just noticed that the term is "deprecated".
Not sure either term really means what we think it does when talking about old software though.

Anyone else noticed how Comp Sci teachers are always useless so you just end up teaching yourself way more than they've taught you?12

Add 1 - Remove 2
-implement-
Why did you add this?
Alright - Remove 1 and Add 2.
-implement-
I like what you did with 1 but I'm not sure about what you did here with 2.
-wait...wait...wait...-
Hey, just noticed the way you had 1 and 2 before you started making a bunch of unnecessary changes was better, go back to that.
Peer reviews are awesome! -
Thinking about quitting college more and more.
Not because it's hard, but because I can't bear with it anymore. I had a 3 day break and I noticed I didn't want to just disappear anymore.
What will I if I quit? Work. Try to find work in something electronics or programming related. I know my chances are slimmer than someone who did finish, but I can't...
I dunno3 -
I just noticed that it seems reading devRant has made me more prone to cursing (when I'm texting)... Is that a good thing or a thing?4
-
I've noticed that lately I've not been putting a lot of effort in making my code clean, and in learning new stuff, too. If it works, that's enough for me. I just made some endpoints in node and it's the biggest callback hell you'll ever see, but I don't fucking care, tbh. Is it time for me to change my work field? Have you ever felt this way?3
-
I just noticed that MomentJS discourages the use of its own library in the docs homepage.
I think it must have been hard, so honor to them1 -
Has anyone else noticed these slight imprecicions where the the background peeks out at the bottom sometimes? It is pretty hard to spot, only happens sometimes after scrolling. Or is my display resolution just too high?5
-
Just noticed a job description.
"You have excellent skills in JavaScript, HTML, CSS and backend development with PHP and MySQL. You also have experience developing for iOS and Android."
Are these requirements realistic?3 -
oh shit i hadn't noticed lmfao
this isn't even like... ACTIVE shit, this is just me flipping it on in the back seat when my parents drag me places6 -
Hello C++ / C programmers. I've noticed my professor putting the ASCII code of a character into an int instead of just using a char to store it. When he does this he's not doing math or anything with them, so is there any advantage to it? My TA mentioned something about memory alignment, but I'm not experienced enough to know how something being aligned differently in memory would help or hurt a program.5

Anyone else usually WFH on Fridays?
I noticed a lot of other people doing it so I just... quietly started doing it too. My boss is remote so I think it’s okay... at least he hasn’t said anything yet 😏3 -
I just noticed when you search the meaning of a word you want to know in Google under it there is a quiz called Word Couch, you guys should try it out might learn some cool stuff in it, well I knew in do did1

I've just noticed, the rest of the world says things like "your check is null and void," as if those two things are one and the same.
Meanwhile, to us devs, they couldn't be any more different! Something can't be both null AND void! 😅undefined void null function return values memory locations c declaring variables c++ coding pointers8 -
Unexpectedly a feature status changed to disabled:
"It doesnt matter. If nobody noticed, it means that nobody is using it."
After that my point of view is:
Just because you dont use your Car Airbag everyday, it doesnt allow your mechanic to keep it disabled. -
Just noticed github shows Infinite contributors for chromium repository. (https://github.com/chromium/...).
Also, I clicked on the contributors tab and the page is still loading. Guess it will take infinite amount of time to finish loading :?3 -
Who else noticed Jetbrains is selling the exact fucking same IDE a bunch of times with different plugins? Intellij Idea is essentially the same IDE as Gogland or PHPStorm, just with different plugins, yet they want money for every single IDE separately...8
-
Hmm, just noticed lifelog recognises devrant as communication. Found that intresting for some reason. Also dr is the only "communication" app i use for extended period along with sync for reddit.
Also, its 7.50 in morning, not evening. I am not that lazy. -
Holy shit. I'm on the devrant app and I just noticed that the scrollbar on the right does this weird worm thingy.
As I scroll up and down, the scrollbar size keeps changing. It's a cool effect where it twitches like a worm.
Is that an android o feature or something or did @dfox or @trogus add that shet.2 -
I just joined a team of a product where a user can have multiple roles. While getting familiar with the flow, I noticed that the previous developer, instead of creating a many-to-many relation of users and roles, adds the 6 records of the same user with the same email each with the different role id.6

I got my new(to me) MacBook Pro last week, provided by work. I've got all my setup and config done, for the most part, and I've noticed something.
Performance is shit. Has anyone else noticed this about the 2017 and later models? The 2015 model I had before was much, much smoother. Just zooming windows, a previously butter-smooth experience, is noticeably choppy. I/O performance is garbage too. I have a small iotest script that just writes a string a couple hundred times to disk, deletes it, and repeats this activity 100,000 times. On my Linux machine at home with six year old hardware, this takes about three seconds. On my new system76 laptop it takes just over a second. On the 2017 MacBook Pro, it takes about forty seconds.
The 2017 and 2018 models are a direct downgrade in performance. Why isn't anyone talking about this?10 -
lel just noticed a pattern here:
if someone asks newbie questions on devrant about anything - gets shat on
but if that person asks about react - its all roses and rainbows
i say there's a new cult in town and theyre recruiting!11 -
Just noticed that taping on the date in the notification shade on Android opens the clock app instead of calendar... God damn this is mildly annoying5
-
I spent two hours trying to find out why the wifi dongle on a new device we're building doesn't start (it's detected by linux and all so technically everything works) tried the scripts we use on a raspberry pi they work perfectly. I just noticed someone (most likely the cleaning lady) unplugged power or the usb hub I'm using.
Nice4 -
When I've already told people it's working, no one appreciates the hours I just spent to fix the giant problems I hadn't noticed.
-
I just noticed that whenever I get a captcha to prove I'm human, it's always images from the street.. cars, crosswalks, traffic lights, trucks, bikes, tractors etc etc...
I just want to know... Who's ML model I've been helping to train for the last i don't know how many years?!? 😤
I should've realized something smelled funny the moment i understood that a bot is asking me to prove my humanity to it, by doing something that a bot should be able to do by now.6 -

Some on here are very open about having addictions or using external things 'to keep going', be better or whatever else reason. I do too myself. (please don't get butthurt)
What do you think about weed & dev instead of - or even with - alcohol & dev?
BTW, I just noticed this (2 hours ago! I didn't know there are limits, which seems like a good idea..). I deem it obligatory to share. It's also the reason I'm asking 😁10 -
Just noticed that my laptop runs hotter and louder with xscreensavers running than when using the command line and doing heavy compilation...
-
My friend just told me his history of hating stackoverflow so much.
He said whenever he had an issue and he googled for solutions, stackoverflow pops in the search results. He clicks on stackoverflow and copy the first thing he sees.
And it always won't work out.
Few years down the line, he noticed what he has always been copying is someone else's problem and not a solution.
😢😢😁😂😂3 -
I feel disappointed in myself, only now just noticed that the up and down votes are increment and decrement...
Now I hate that notifications from devrant say "someone +1'd your rant" insteda of someone ++'d or someone +=1'd...1 -
I just noticed that when my wife fills the dishwasher, she always leaves empty the space between the border and the first support for the dishes.
I'm starting to be afraid that she might also believe that arrays start at 1...1 -
So I noticed quite a lot of South Africans on DevRant and I thought to myself that it might be great to meet a couple of you! If you're keen, join the Unofficial "DevRant Meets" server on Discord. If you think your country can also benefit from a channel, just pop me a message on Discord, then I'll just add a channel for your country :) https://discord.gg/P6kafcj3

So I just noticed while looking at our release notes, we got some new members of our Shanghai team. Their English names are:

Just got another email from servíce@intl-paypal.com <zlvx... (noticed that “í”? Me neither) that says “[N3YywM] <https://amazon.co.uk... ” and it goes on and on...
wow, service? Seems important! I guess I should open it and click on every link!!! 🙄7 -
The moment, when you just about start a demo on your project and the code is not working at all, is pretty awkward. What makes it worse is that even the master branch is useless. The good thing is that noone noticed it, since the demod feature worked well.1

Just Installed devRantron, and noticed I cannot navigate through rants/posts by arrowkey.
Am I missing somthing ?
I clicked on the scrollbar and arrowDown scrolls down but not able to navigate through post with arrowKeys.8 -
I just spent an extra 2 hours trying to install updates because I hadn't noticed the dialogue option. In my defense, I haven't owned a windows pc in a long long time.

I was pretty close to link one of my last rants in an university report just to prove how 'differently smart' the people in my group project are
Changed my mind when I realised that I use devrant manly to talk shit about uni and they may have noticed2 -
I just noticed the code in the docs of Vue.js contains no semicolons... I literally can't find a single semicolon in their code :O2

Has anyone else noticed that the items in the avatar builder load extremely slowly, if at all? Or is it just me?3

So, I was using YT on my phone now since I'm at my family over the holidays. So far so good.
I just noticed, that google apparently cant even make apps good. FFS, I'm playing a YT vid (fullscreen, landscape) and then close fullscreen.
Guess how it looks now:
a) landscape mode
b) portrait mode
c) locked portrait mode until you go back to the fuckin homescreen where it rotates again
WTF YT5 -
Have you ever noticed how angry and hateful you can get just by reading someone else's code. I think I'm losing about 5 minutes of life per minute of code that I'm reading this shit.
On the plus side every minute feels like an hour so quantitatively I end up on top though... -
been a while since I updated my avatar and just noticed that my hair grew ALOT in the past couple of months since I shaved XD college really got me busy. Now I can't find an afro hairstyle in the builder 🙁

Got a phone call from a scammer claiming to be my Cell Phone Provider saying “Congratulations! You just recieved unlimited calls and messages for a year, now to win this please give the 4 digit pins given to you” then I recieved a 4 digit pin and warning label not to give this message to anyone else. I then noticed that this was a scammer, i got his probably fake number and I tried to mess with him by giving random codes, he then noticed that the numbers were fake in the 5 try.
I truly feel bad for this idiot and just call him a scammer and end the call...1 -
Finally got that damn web app to send out mails (2am). Turned out mail server worked, rails was properly configured, delayed jobs were running and were getting proper rights and environment. The issue was wrong configuration in app itself (somebody skipped part of the wizard). But still, fixing somebody's else server with webapp I know just a little about in languages I know even less about (not a web developer) after few guys failed and just within five hours, makes me feel both dumb (should have noticed much sooner) and proud (figured it out in the end).
-
Just noticed a thread on r/programmerhumor about bank code intentionally adding delays with all these JavaScript code blocks of how it's adding sleep cycles in.
So I spent an hour reading the documentation and wrote up an over engineered solution in COBOL just to prove a point.2 -
Anyone who's been part of the community has probably noticed a little OS mud slinging. It's natural, as everyone cheers on their "team".
I just realized that no one is ranting/name calling/general mockery of the BSD crowd! They just get away without a scratch. Not fair 🚫10 -
I work for a tech company, centered on computer vision and video processing. I mean, we're not exactly the most Web centric company I grant you. That said I've just noticed a post on LinkedIn a couple of days ago celebrating our new start. The URL?

That starts http://localhost/ -
Someone just noticed that I have a OnePlus 5. And then she asked me:
Would you compare it to an iPhone or a Samsung?5 -
! rant.
Just noticed this interestingly weird yet annoying thing Facebook does to force you to look at their advertisements !!
The first post in your news feed is something that is decided by their "ADVANCED ML+AI+... " algorithms.
The next post in your news feed is always an advertisement..usually tagged as "Sponsored".
After this, there is an insanely long delay in loading the subsequent post in your news feed, which in turn does not allow you to scroll further down and forces you to keep looking at the sponsored post in your news feed!
Noticed this on my Mac + FF 57.0.1
Makes me love devrant even more. Thanks for keeping it add free! -
Find an end to this story:

I just noticed something, I wanted to test out flutter so I decided to make a basic Todo application.
I made a Todo app with flutter and Kotlin and what I discovered was that. Flutter apps are very large.
A Kotlin Todo app had a size of less than 25mb while a Flutter Todo app had 60mb. And I didn't use too much design.6 -
I just hand to share this.
Got back from shift, currently 12 am.
Trying to cook rib eye. Went to grab skillet, accidently over a open flame. Heard a crackle and felt some heat.
Looked at forearm and I noticed that some of my arm hair was missing. It freakin burnt off and I could smell like something had burnt.
Wtf. I'm okay though. Just couldn't stop smiling. 😅
I didn't feel any pain though so just glad11 -
So, on top of all my rants from the past... i just noticed that new coworkers, the ones that are just starting in our company are getting brand new macbooks.

Ah, yeah. That's because I'm just learning it at the same time.33 -

I got a new Drupal project to maintain. (🤬🤬🤬)
So I'm looking at the content and noticed raw HTML inside the content area. I first thought, the client is using a wysiwyg editor.. But no. It's worse.
He is transforming a XML with XSLT to HTML and copy & paste everything. The result are nested <html><body> tags and everything breaks.
Just because drupal is to hard to work with. I will burn everything and install WordPress 🤯🤬🤬🤬2 -
So, while working on a story, I noticed something which the lead dev did that is now giving me problems.... and he's offline while in another building.
Ok, I'll just contact our PM to see how much is due today (visual happy path only or API call is needed too)...same state as lead dev.
Scrum master, the person who's in charge of contacting anyone... no flipping clue where she's at.
It's great being on such a small team!2 -

Has anyone had experience with taking a 2009 MacBook Pro apart?
About to give mine a new lease on life by replacing thermal paste and battery but probably going to replace the wireless and Bluetooth card (with a working one) but noticed it is installed on the underside of the screen hinge (because that's a logical place other than connected to the main motherboard), just wanting to know if anyone can give recommendations to avoid fucking it irreversibly...4 -
Has anyone noticed after the subscribe feature, they check Feeds less and just look for new Notifs?

After some Googling, I ended-up on a mailing list saying that float and double are not useable in Contiki 😒
I get that double is too large (8bytes) but seriously a float is just 4bytes!
Well for now our floating numbers are just integer 😌 -
So I have noticed if I think I know much of logic in programming and I can solve this problem better way I actually code better.
And when I think no I'm just a noob programmer I ask stupid question to myself and get my self confidence blown.
Thing is don't think you are bad, think of just you'll put all the experience all the knowledge you got in this program (according to its requirement) -
Finally there is a dradlocks hair style. It didn't feel like me without them. *just noticed the hairstyle, didn't know it was available before

Google's fastboot driver is not working since windows' got updated to build 2004. so much time passed (i guess 2 years) but google still don't fix their sick driver and I think they didn't even fucking noticed it. that's all sorry I just wanted type these useless words

So I decided to take a look at the list of directx 2-7 games on the pcgaming wiki, and noticed the a lot of these Unity games appeantly support directx 7. I'm a little curious why someone would want to do this why not just support directx 9 instead?3

This is new to me .-.
I just noticed I don't have internet permission in my flutter app Android manifest, yet I'm able to fetch data from an API, how is this possible?5 -
Checking my work email, found three meeting invitation emails, got a mini heart attack, then noticed the other two are just rescheduling...
Not a nice way to start a Monday with meetings invitation 😅 -
Does anybody here still use dreamweaver? I used to use it a lot back in the day when I started as a designer, but haven't used it in years, but I noticed the app in our companies adobe subscription plan and have installed it.
Given that we live in an age of VS Code, sublime text and so one, I'm just wondering does anyone still use DW and if so what is it good at?2 -
Noticed rants and comment dates on the app uses the users device datetime rather than the server's. Hence if my phone's date is fast forwarded to a week later and I make new posts it shows a week ago rather than just now, same for comments. Is this the expected behaviour?5

For couple of days I have noticed that when i roll over my left eye. It causes a little pain. nothing else. just when i rollover and try to look up. I think may be because I am starring at the monitor way too much. Have anyone ever experienced anything similar?6

Aaaaand all tabs and windows go to bitches again.. sigh.. did closed tabs and windows in feierfox EVER work for anyone? I have noticed restore session works. But after closing gracefully, feiafax just don't bother saving shit. Somehow I have less patience when it comes to browsers. Fuck you feuercocks! Suck my balls you memory hungry, wannabe free hippie hippo. Done, deleted, die!!9
-
I just noticed something.... I think I read more rants if they're displayed in pages with a scrollbar instead of infinite scrolling in the app.
Guess the rewarding feeling of reaching the end of a page helps? -
I just noticed exp. Rather than experience.
Was there a need to abbreviate? The first thing I thought of when I noticed was Pokemon games...6 -

Hell yeah, I love that feeling! I have absolutely no idea about working with the LEMP stack (nginx in particular) and I'm slowly figuring out how to get it working. Even tho I just noticed that chrome doesn't support npn for http/2 and that I am still up (GMT+1) I wanna continue working in this project. Man, I love that feeling <31 -
So my friend has got me into playing Old School RuneScape and honestly it’s really nice and I’m enjoying it, idk if I’ll try the newer version since old school rs is still supported (from what I’ve been told)
I’ve noticed that the game is basically just an economics simulator and I am down for it2 -
It's one of those days when I'm debugging some code
and then I noticed a breakpoint I have deleted just popped up again by itself
my visual studio might be haunted -
Anyone else effected by the UK fast outage yesterday? We've come in this morning to a failed drive (or so we think) our Web server home directory is just gone wondering if anyone else has noticed any funnies on their hosting

Wonder if he got stuck in a mobile game too...1 -
Just noticed my profile said I was primarily a mobile device. People, rest assured, I am no robot! *beep boop*

So, I just attempted to use KDE's partitionmanager application on Gentoo... just noticed that every time I run it, it screws up the formatting in /etc/fstab.
That's a deal-breaker! Back to gparted... -
A petty thing I did today.
Coworker from another team asked me to monitor their service during rollout. (I had contributed code to their service), so now I've created a bunch of tickets for the error spikes I noticed and assigned it to them. Most of them were just preexisting errors, some new ones.1 -
I’ve noticed a large uptick in these AI = if statement jokes. Is there a catalyst for this or am I just noticing them more?1

Just noticed (not sure why it took me this long to check) an API is available (duh).
Wonder how many recruiter data harvesters are listening right now 🤑 -
Has anyone else noticed a trend this summer of os updates completely shafting servers? Just saved my 5th prod server and its getting fucking old

1) I really can't into math and it's been pretty easy to hide it while working as a dev.
2) I just love to create. As soon as I noticed I'm really bad at storytelling I found out I can create by coding.
3) THE FEELING OF GAINING EXPERIENCE AND GETTING BETTER IS JUST SO GREAT I'M ADDICTED TO IT -
In Spring/Boot if you annotate a class as a Service is it started on a different thread? I used @PostConstruct to start listening to a connection.
The class with main () seems to just load Beans defined in the AppConfig?
I need it to start a thread that listens to a Mongo Changestream and trigger some action on each.
I noticed a log line under the watch() is never reached so seems it's blocking...8 -
Recently noticed lots of people have just become interested in post-graduation CE programs and I can't believe how dumb they are. They think it's gonna do some magic in their career.2

Just moved to a new phone, (Wileyfox Swift 2) and noticed that my settings (by which I mean the dark theme) weren't saved. While it's unlikely I'll be switching phones again in the near future, I think it's unlikely people would use different settings across devices, so could settings be automatically applied when signing in? @dfox
