Bf: what you doing?
Me: coding
Bf: do you ever stop working?!
Me: I'm not 'working', I'm doing my own project.
Bf: but you do that at work. Why do you want to keep doing it?
Me: it's fun?
--- a few days later ---
Bf: what you doing?
Me: reading.
Bf: omg you're not coding! What are you reading?
Me: a book about coding
Bf: *faceplam*15 -

Client the day after suspension : Hey, we can't access the site.
Me : Play dead
***
I think i should say "email service will die if you don't pay the renewal bill" instead
based on how quick they react when shit stopped working8 -
So i sent my bill to the client yesterday and:
C: the amount is too high i can’t pay this
M: but you validate the number of working days
C: but the amount is huge ... nevermind i’ll pay you because you are good guy
M: ...6 -
WHY THE FUCK IS IT SO FUCKING HARD FOR THESE CUM SUCKERS TO UNDERSTAND THAT CHANGING REQUIREMENTS 2 DAYS BEFORE THE DEADLINE IS JUST GONNA BREAK EVERYTHING!?!?
I DOUBLE DARE ANYONE TO TELL ME ITS NOT WORKING TOMORROW...
STUPID MOTHER FUCKER PMS CANT PLAN ANYTHING6 -
Real conversation:
dev 1: so what are you working on these days?
dev 2: some wordpress project.
dev1: hahaha. wordpress is shit. are you a real developer?
dev 2: have you ever used wordpress?
dev1: no.
dev2: okay.26 -
Decided to work several days at home. Made my home working place comfy with TV as second monitor.10
-
Me last Sunday:
“Ohh boy, I’ve been working on my game for last 6 days, and I made lots of progress! I’m gonna take a break today!”
*starts coding side project*1 -
Finally got a 200 response back from the server! Woo!
I've spent two days trying to get this to work (see my earlier rant). but yay! finally working!
So I log the response body just to revel in its lovely glow.... only to notice an error message saying "INVALID_INPUT".
WHAT THE CRAP.
200 FOR AN ERROR RESPONSE?
COME ON.4 -
It's me, in my hacktoberfest t-shirt, sitting on my gaming chair with gaming keyboard and mouse, working 12 hours per day for 7 days, coding and pushing bits to server so a client can be happy.21
-
Worst experience: had a verbal fight with pm because his poor management overworked me ( I was working on the same project till 10pm every day for 4 days with no OT pay)
Best experience: I stepped up against an abusive pm and told him to fuck off to his face.12 -
>be me
>it student
>working on group project
>one guy is making the ui
>says he added "date selection events"
>check code
Switch(date.Day){
case 1:
break;
case 2:
break;
//To-Do: add other days
}
He did this for years, months, hours and minutes.
He bragged about it.
Fuck you.
Sincerely, fuck you.3 -
Took me 2 fucking days to figure out why the loop wasn't working, biggest facepalm ever.
if(iterator.hasNext()){
// some awesome code
}8 -
Today I officially switched from 5 working days per week to just 4 days. It will be less money, but much more freedom & happiness.
I'm a lucky guy to have this opportunity, but I also put my big chunk of effort to achieve this degree of freedom. And I'm proud for that.11 -
The office toilet chronicles - episode 3
Someone left shit on the toilet seat. That's right. Shit. On the toilet seat.
This is the second time this happens. I'm working with fucking monkeys here. One of these days they'll start throwing feces at each other. I just hope I'll be long gone when it happens.13 -
What's your story when you had to scrape your code, for the better, when you went working for days and had to remove it all?6
-
Been working on making my Linux installation pretty for the past few days – already posted on r/unixporn but I figured there might be a few people on here who would appreciate it. Link to the post: https://reddit.com/r/unixporn/...13
-
Fucking son of a bitch force pushed to git effectively deleting 4 hours of my work and was keeping his mouth shut for two days while pushing ontop of that bullshit during these days and completely minifiying that file I was working on to make sure that he makes my life miserable.Fuck this fucking shitty ass retarded fucker for doing this SECOND time already!11

11 months to develop our own game engine and a game using it, tools etc with almost any knowledge about c++, 4 programers and 3 artists. I've been working from 8am to 23pm, 7 days a weeek for 10 months + lots of days without sleep more than 3h because we had milestones. Hardest shit I have done ever. Here's the result, all images are in game https://m.youtube.com/watch/...17

First few days as a professional software engineer (c# .net) have gone decent. Made my first bigger commit today started working on a small new feature that requires more work.
CoWorkers are really nice, boss is cool, super chill over all. #feelsgood6 -
Ok, it’s been a loooong fucking day.
28 hours later from starting work yesterday, preparing for a giant deployment over multiple systems, Doing deployments overnight... on a Friday night of all days and finally, finally seeing everything working is just a beautiful thing.
Good night devRant!1 -
made a password sniffer in python it was really easy how many of you took #100DaysOfCode i took the challenge 8 days today every day i am doing one project what do you think of the sniffer? it currently doesn't support SSL response but working on that right now this is good15
-
Me: So why did you drop the db?
Intern: I couldn't rename the Model I've just created.
Me: Your CV says you're a prolific Rails Dev.
Me: How many days you have left working here?
Intern: 3Months
Me: Just take 3 months off work.13 -
I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET A MATHS PART OF MY RENDERER WORKING FOR TWO DAYS NOW AND IT HAS BEEN WORKING THE WHOLE TIME BUT I WAS USING THE WRONG VALUES TO TEST IT THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS TO ME I WANT TO DIE18
-
When interviewing for a .NET position, ask which language they work in! Don't assume it to be C#. Even when you do and pass your technical test in C#. This is how I found out a few days into my current job I'd now be working in Visual Basic. Part of me thinks they hid the truth on purpose :(9
-
Once, when working on top down RPG, I woke up at 3am and wrote map moving system. It worked flawlessly. Later had to spend 2 days to understand how the fuck it actually worked.
Ahh nights so full of passion.2 -
!rant
That rejuvenating feeling when you've been trying to get a piece of code working for days, google hasn't helped, and you're just about to call it another lost day, when a random "what happens if I do this" solves everything.
I'm going to dream about puppies, prancing through a meadow, and rootbeer floats tonight!2 -
I've been locked in a room with another dev for 2 days working like insane to remake a outdated crm system. Had to inform the department lead that the deadline isn't possible and we need another week. Got questioned about what we had been doing the past days, redesigned the database, migrated data, frontend etc. Boss goes "that's all you manager in 2 days?" We went in with 2 slides and had to design and plan everything from scratch.
I lost count of how many rounds and added complexity happened in 2 days when Customer came by. Now there is going to be a board meeting with PM as he complains that the project is taking too many resources and should be killed. I invited myself to that meeting to defend the work done. Hold my laptop and watch this.7 -
when you spend hours and days working on something and it actually works...am I forgetting something. I don't trust it.4
-
"It's just a tiny change in one function. What can go wrong? I don't need to test, I'm not that stupid to mess this up". Apparently I am. Pushed the changes, and the [Firefox] extension basically stopped working. Lost about 1.5k users in 2 days. Good times ;)2
-
Finally got my Hackintosh working. Took me fuckin 3 days to figure out how to get the sound working lmao22
-
Well I just learned the value of reading comments on code
Been working on issue for 3-4 days 30 seconds after reading documentation and adjusting accordingly everything is working perfectly
I feel so stupid :(3 -
He fails at managing his time and can't finish his tasks in work days ... suggests to work on the weekend and drags the whole team with him.
Sorry mate, but I ain't fucking working on weekend !
Team lead my ass 😡😡9 -
Guess what's even worse than reading the code of someone else?
Reading your own code after not working on it for a couple of days.2 -
When you spend a few days getting a monolithic LAMP app working in Docker so we don’t have to follow a 12 page install procedure... only to have your senior say “that’s not the way we do things around here”7
-
Boss quoted Yoda today, to my answer to if I would be able to deliver today a freaking huge project I've been working on, 14 days before the rescheduled deadline I was given, just because the client is pissed with them.3
-
Fuck Coronavirus and fuck the person, responsible for the outbreak.
The local commiccon, linux-days and my working-period at a location on the other side of Germany got canceled.
My complete weekend just got annihilated.11 -
Who in their right mind though it would be a good idea to move the web development team to a new office without checking that the internet is connected.
What a waste of three working days.
And of course the project needs to be delivered by Sunday...3 -
Most unrealistic deadline I've had?
The client gives us a project with A 3-month deadline. All good, at first.
3 days later they told us that they're cutting out the funding and they gave us two options: Either stop the project right away and get paid for the work so far, or somehow finish the project in 7 days and get paid for the 10 days worth of work.
My idiot boss chose the second.
Saturdays and Sundays were declared working days, everyone screaming at each other, devs running around scrambling code to make the webpage render and keep it responsive.
Forget unit or automation testing, we only did not null and undefined testing and submitted the project.
Yeah, I hauled my ass out of the company just after that.4 -
Every last 10 days of the year we have a break...
I'm just gonna implement CI/CD in this motherfucking environment and blow everyone's mind at January, I'm sick of working as an amateur... -
Our internet was broken for the last couple of days.
I had almost forgotten how it was to spend time with the family...
I am so glad our internet is working again... -
15 days and counting until I move to my new job working for the smartest person I know on something I'm passionate about. Holy shit! This is gonna happen!6
-
When you know that tomorrow is going to be one of those days wherein you will be working for 12-14 hours straight, but you still end up staying awake all night, thinking about why your previous rant didn't get the expected number of ++'s
Yes, I am that immature.1 -
"Back in the days, you had to put a lot if effort into getting WiFi working in Linux.
Today, you can take a Linux notebook, slam it into its dockingstation with all kinds of peripherals attached to it, and it just works"
~ my boss9 -
PM: stressed out and during the briefing, keep reminding us how urgent is this project:
"This project need to go live this Friday"
"We only have 5 days to complete this."
"Client need this campaign to go live as soon as possible"
"We need to have a quick catch up every morning to ensure we are on track"
I have been working in digital agency for 7 years. When you heard something like this, there's a high chance that the deadline is a FAKE deadline. Very likely it will be delayed for another few days.1 -
I had been working on a side project iOS app for years using Objective-C, then Swift came out and I started rewriting the whole thing in Swift and continued working on it for months... Few days ago while I was just playing with react-native I accidentally finished the whole thing in a few hours... Feel kinda stupid for wasting all those years8
-
That thing, when you're in the first two days at a new contract, when you don't have access to anything and everyone keeps asking "what are you working on"?
😭🔫7 -
Working on my Google Foo Bar level 4 challenge.
9 days past figuring out how to solve this problem..
And finally reached on a working solution. When started compiling my solution.
And then i Find out, the fucking Google tool is facing some bug and not allowing compilation. Tried hard to do everything but still getting errors...
And after searching on Google just found I'm fucked up.. It's on Google's end and they are not fixing it since so many days..
Just 5 days left to complete.. And i have no idea what should i do...
4 month work just fucked up9 -
I just found out that my co-student was working for 3 days on editing id's to a excel sheet with 500000 rows because she didn't know that you could just drag the cells. She was really mad beacause i told her she needed to do that as a joke. Feels bad tho. Funny but bad ....1
-
Spend almost 3 days translating a library from js to python, 2 hours to upload it to PyPI, 10 seconds realizing, that there is already a library that does the same thing + something a friend of mine is working to achieve. I am so fucking done...
(At least I some new learned stuff in JS and Python)1 -
I'm starting to like the crisis. Not only that I have home office, I'm also in for reduced working time. 3.5 days per week from next month on, and the state will fund 60% of the pay loss. Yeah!17
-
What i have been doing so far
1) create project
2) search google for help
3) copy & paste
4) compile
If not working GOTO 2, else
5) feel good for days1 -
A new developer friend was to start using linux and to remove the part where I should explain sudo, I did this in his terminal
alias doitanyway=sudo
and told him that if anything is not working tell it to doitanyway and he deleted his windows in just two days 😂😂😂5 -
Developer who was working on a project for 7 weeks was fired and to spite the company he deletes all his source code for the project. As the only other dev, I was placed with the wonderful task to complete an 8 week program in 8 days.8
-
I was freaking out today when a program I have to demo in two days suddenly stopped working correctly. Turned out not that bad when I found my dog added some characters to the server address in the config file when I laid my computer on the bed last night.2
-
Trying to fix a bug for 2 days that came out of nowhere. Taking my hairs off because it was working all fine the day before.
Later realized that I was using the wrong configuration file :( -
I've been spending more time reading rants than working the past few days. Thanks for enabling my procrastination devRant! :)1
-
Spent yesterday and this morning working on a project my boss pulled me away to do.
Just got told it's not needed anymore
/(ò.ó)┛彡┻━┻
Thanks for wasting 1.5 days...
It was actually decided on a late night meeting but he forgot to inform me this morning...6 -
Quick rant!!
Deadline in 2 days, working with a team.
Me: yo ! , How's the xyz feature? Is it working now?
Teammate: yah, made it work yesterday.
Me: epic! Can you present it to me?
Teammate: wtf, it's not working today!!
Me: no worries, you can sort it out!
Teammate: the latest release you worked on doesn't work properly.
Me: yah, merged code fucked up, I'm fixing that, I'll push a fix today.
And the cycle continues... -
Working on a 6 months long project with delivery scheduled in one more month.. Now my manager says we either ship it in 6 dev days or he gets fired.8
-
Next 3 days I' ll be working on moving our email server to new server because the old datacenter is closing down. Clients are pissed and they are fucking verbally bashing me left to right when I told them that their emails will be down since most of them host their own DNS.
I am fucked.3 -
What sucks most about smartphones is how much everyone came to rely on them and expect you to have one which is turned on and working. Rent a bike? Need an app! Log in somewhere? Need 2FA. I just want to leave my phone turned off for a few days like in the good old days. There must be something wrong with the way we live.7
-
Interviewer Mail: Build this complex project in 2 days
Me: Ok working GOD Mode Submitting.
Ghosted!!!!!3 -
I spend my days in front of a screen working on a product that will be used by other people working in front of a screen, themselves working for other people working in front of a screen
end of rant9 -
When your wife doesn't understand the concept of working remotely and keeps asking you to put up flat pack that has been in the corner for a few days because you really don't want to put it up. Just because I am sat on the sofa with my laptop on my lap watch the whole series of west world does not mean I am not working. Working from your own house makes you lose your alpha male role pretty quickly when they realise what you really do. Perhaps I should put up the flat pack knock down a wall or something have a break from socket.io!8
-
With 3 weeks until deadline, been working massive overtime and under massive pressure.
My body just gave up finally, for 5 days I've been unable to get up at all.3 -
Spends 5 days working from home at my desk.... Stressful week...
Spends weekend playing diablo 3 with son at same desk.... Relaxing...
Wife says I need to get out more.... *looks outside* raining...3 -
The feeling when someone you stood up on date last week on Tinder, starts working in the same office some days later.2
-
starting to really get sick of working 12 hour days and nothing to show for it
fucking months go by in the blink of an eye6 -
Mac suddenly stopped working. Came to know motherboard is gone & the price to get it changed is around 60k.
Fuck you Apple. Never buying the shit again. Though one good thing came out of it ;it used to be my work machine too & now I'm chilling from last 4 days.8 -
Solo Android app developer here. It's 4AM where I'm working. Been working alone on a project for the last 20 days. Looking to get some inspiration and discuss new ideas with other devs.
So hi!
What's up with you? What do you do?20 -
Well fuck me i thought working for a company was 1) i do work 2)company pays me. Not fucking spending 3 whole days running between government offices trying to get my taxes done because half of the documents can only be sent online and the other half can only be sent in person.1
-
my boss:
*doesn't assign any tasks to me*
*doesn't check what I'm doing in days, sometimes weeks*
also my boss:
"what are you working on?"
"i thought you were going to work on that other thing"
im starting to get manageophobic5 -
When I was made redundant (business I was working for collapsed) 5 days before Xmas and 2 weeks before birth of my first child, with no pay, no redundancy package or anything.
Good times.3 -
Been 122 days since my last post, since then I have been working on a game engine on Vala using SDL2 in my free time (Lol I have none)
Decided to put that on ice or just work on it when drunk (very common occurrence) and teaching myself C while working on a game or game engine, hopefully will have some quality rants inbound!3 -
We are currently under 21 days quarantine and today I realized that my day to day life style hasn't changed at all. Except that now I am working from home...
I really need to start socializing more and possibly get a hobby or something like that... 🤦♂️8 -
So, I put forward to the recruiter that my T&Cs are that I would like to work from home for a minimum of 3 days per week due to the travel time and traffic involved, and that the recruiter should put that forward to their client.
The recruiter received this in response...
"We would be open to looking at flexitime. In terms of days at the office, we would be need him to come to the office three to four days a week as communication is challenging when we have people working from home."
Have they never heard of Slack or Skype... or the Internet? Or am I missing something?9 -
All employees are working from home. I found out that some developers who work 1-2 days from home don't even have a desk in theirs apartments. Now i understand why working from home is considered as unproductive.6
-
Spend two days struggling with environment variables not being available in python script running on a docker container, tried providing environment variables directly, not working, tried providing a env file, not working
.
.
.
Turns out I was passing variables to the wrong container fml2 -
96hrs (3 days), I was working with violent autistic kids at the time. Snow storm prevented coworkers from coming in, so I stayed.2
-
!Rant
Being changing apartment this days, I had to continue my personal project on the notebook but soon I realized that I can't, a project that requires full stack programming isn't bearable on a 1440p 14" screen, I need at least 2 screens 😫.
On your side, have you ever stopped working because you needed more screens?3 -
"Dear Team,
This is to inform you that due to the workload of Diwali 10th Nov would be working a half day
So the 10th Nov holiday would be shuffle to 17th Nov 2018 (i.e. Saturday)
Note:- Those team member taking leave on 10th Nov it would calculate 5 days of leave."
Got this mail -_-9 -
Ranters!
A couple of days ago I started development on a cross platform command line tool to read and post rants from terminal, but other devs were working on it too.
I haven't seen anything on here about those though, so I wondered: Is there any need for me? Aka, should I resume development?10 -
There’s no such thing as quiet quitting. If working accordingly to the pay cheque and job description is called quiet quitting, why not calling
- every jobs are “quiet slaveries” .
- every banks charges are “quiet robberies”.
- every food I ate are “quiet shitting.”
- every gym rats are “quiet dieting.”
See? This doesn’t make any sense. Companies these days ….🤦♂️8 -
Freshman out of the university started working for me as a php developer. Software Engineer from a major Australian university. First project, a WordPress plugin... Two weeks down the track I had to explain to him the concept of sessions and multiple visitors. WTF are they thought at universities these days?41

DevRant-Stats Site Update:
Future projections & Live General Section
Added some future projections like SocialBlade, where you can see your score in the future, according to the stats in the last 30 days. Therefore it will only be available after storing the stats for 30 days.
Also made the complete "General" section live now, and replaced "Live Score" with "Devrant++ Member since".
So now the values are updating every second! (Using EventStream so not working in Edge Browser lol idc)
Have fun!
Feedback is appreciated!23 -
The sinking feeling you get when you have looked forward to working on your project for a week and your gf tells you that the inlaws will wisit on your only free days in 2 weeks.. Please aliens take me awayyyy.
-
🤖 working with people that actually wanna work. And when they don't want to, just take the day off. 7 days pretentious work == 2 days actual work5
-
Everyone leaving early on Wednesday and you realize that it's not weekend but just No overtime working day.
#welcome #to #japan
Weekend still 2 days away.1 -
After a couple years working mainly on back end, I just decided to start working on my front end skills to get myself into a full stack path a couple days ago...
I feel like I've never coded before in my life. My girlfriend is a front end developer and she's been laughing out loud at my html all these days...
Now she tells me she wants to learn some back end in a near future.
I'll let you know how much I laughed after that. -
Finishing half a days work while waiting for some linux user to get the audio working for a video call.1
-
Wasted 2 days working on an obj (3d model) exporter….messed up meshes … missing faces … despair build after build …
And then the realization: Vertices in obj are 1-indexed.
…
..
.
FUCK
nobody learned anything from the array start at 1 meme2 -
So an app I use for real-time train schedules broke last week and the official app is really slow, UI is bloated/bad devs.
I figured out the HTTP calls so started writing my own, spent 2 days and basic functionality works but...
Now the other app is working again...
Feels like wasted effort now :(2 -
Spending 2 days trying to figure out why code signing wasn’t working when deployment is started from teamcity. Every time I tried manually it worked, but through teamcity it just kept telling me that no certificate could be found.
I finally twigged what the problem was, my code signing certificate is smart card based and you can’t access it if is requested from a RDP session. I had launched the teamcity build agent from an RDP session a few days back without thinking…
Rebooted and started the buildagent via VirtIO VNC and low and behold it started working again. -
Never decided to change company so fast.
- i am a freelancer but I have working hours
- i am a freelancer but I can only be absent 21 (unpaid) days/year including sick days
- starting hour is x... Time x-1 "let's have standup right now!"
I am leaning more and more towards the idea that most corporates don't care about the revenues, they just try to make everyone miserable3 -
When the anxiety has made your brain stop working and the procrastination has been going strong for three days already. Yeehaw, motherfuckers.2
-
Today I heard my boss counting 14,15,16,17 multiple times, then he said OMG 4 days, I asked him about the issue
So he said the easter will make 4 non-working days, I was surprised
Then he said yes
Turns he was counting Saturday and Sunday 😂 -
I had so much fun working on my side projects this weekend that now I'm sad to spend next 5 days on client projects.3
-
I hope I never make it.
It sounds to me like I'm finished or achieved some kind of perfection....
As if my job is done.
In the nightmare category, it's definitely in the top 3...
Not working for more than 7 days and I'll turn into a psychopath.
My longest hospitalisation was 3.5 weeks. After 5 days I talked with the nurses. I played / entertained elderly people, with permission of course...
I guess that saved me from going bananas....1 -
Is there a Developers' Manifesto? Like Agile Manifesto?
If not let's start one here, I'll start:
-We should not be working outside work hours except for exceptional cases, hours != 24/7 && exceptional != 7 days a week
-Death to last minute changes!
-Everyone needs to understand Murphy's Law, it's real!3 -
Fffffffuuuuuuck me! I got some days off for working longer hours on a priority project than healthy humans should. Now they want me to take part of one of those days for a Very Important video call. Now canceling and rescheduling plans for that day so I can be on duty that whole day because there’s no way my head is getting or staying in relaxation mode with this interruption.4
-
I was working with my embedded systems friend a few days ago on a website, and since we work with electronics, it was something new.
I then went home and started learning web development.
Holy shit I love it
I will continue to until it’s time to know about JavaScript1 -
So I'm sitting here working on an extremely extensive project, while eavesdropping a Skype call w/ the customer by our PM and they say that the feature I spent several days to develop *is just a link with some attributes*
I literally started raging (quietly) -
Working for blockchain companies is kind of funny. They get endless money from investors, while shoveling manure.
Like developing random useless prototype applications. Registering patents left and right. Spending money on pentesting demo apps. Organising random obligatory company wide lectures, for multiple days.2 -
My sister is 8 and here's what she told me a couple of days ago
My sis: I can't watch youtube!
Me: yeah, the intranets down.
My sis after 5 min: Google is not working.
This just proves that 1-2-3 graders don't know a fadoodle of what the internet is...3 -
Thanks, AfterShip.com, for working flawlessly while the system I was building was in dev/test mode and for the first few days in live mode, then completely crapping the bed the first day I needed you to work with real tracking data with the live system. You were the ONE thing that was working consistently well, and you had to go and ruin it.4
-
So I have an ancient PC at home that has been refusing to boot for the past 3 days. It somehow magically worked this morning and THE POWER WENT OUT FOR 1 MILLISECOND WHILE I WAS WORKING AND IT'S NOT WORKING ANYMORE GODDAMMIT FLUCTUATIONS WHY MUST YOU DO THIS TO ME
-
My Last few days:
Working on a new project I started few days ago. Decided to push to GitHub.
Working on setup python script a this project requires a little work to get up and running
Working on markdown files and docs.
Moves to working on the GitHub page.
Now I am working on a website for a project that isn even 10% done.1 -
WTF!!! My company where I'm working on strictly follows the EICC rules but you can be asked to work more than 12 hours or even 7 days a week to provided the production support and requirements.4
-
When u about to start working on a complicated feature. And u know the next hours maybe days ganna hell.
-
You know it's one of those days when you're scouring through vendor code in order to figure out why your code isn't working
Time to get some coffee -
I just realised that working 6 days a week still leaves me more freetime than going to college and working part time1
-
after few months of working in the company, I was offered to trade off my weekends in exchange for increase of salary. I said hell no, I would go crazy.
winter holidays we had removed... thankfully for money increase.
all next holidays were often just removed... without money increase.
next week is going to be official week of holidays. all in our country are going to have paid days off / vacation. It was declared by our president. 2 days of holidays were extended to 5 due to COVID break.
I wonder, how hard it would be for us to get those days as vacation %
we would have to ask for VACATION days in OFFICIAL HOLIDAY DAYS!. Hell, we had never had real vacation yet, and we are just wishing to have official holiday days remaining being holidays.
Urgh. I understand that I get pretty good salary for my first work, but still wishing quite a lot for holidays, should I press for it? *sigh*
on another hand I don't really want salary decrease, which can come if I would press for it *sad face*.7 -
YES!
Finally got our CI/CD line working correctly after two days worth of intensive work.
Got me thinking - what do you use for CI/CD? -
Create form functioning to facilitate client's whim because they need it yesterday. 2 days later they are still working out the wording for the confirmation page.

As a developer and having the ability to work from home I am being pushed more than usual and I think it is because of no commute time I am working more now a days.5 -
After a few days of debugging why sessions where getting lost in some versions of IE11 when all the other browsers where working just fine.

I was given a project to lead and develop with 2 other team members by the co-founder, I was told that I will need to deliver an initial demo within 30 days, 20 days in the project and I was told yesterday that they need a final release ready within the next 10 days !! Not just that but the co founder decided to assign one of my team members to another project!!!
I've worked today till 4am.
Guess who's working from home in the morning!6 -
Does anyone else ever stop themselves from working on a side project on the weekends? Like I spend 5 days a week coding, and I try to take the weekends off just to balance my life, but I have this feeling in the back of my head that I should be working on something. Should I start smoking pot or something?7
-
Not really a rant, but working on a side project alone is tiring 😴.
It has been 4 days and all I have made is this page and login12 -
Which version of Python are people working with these days? Is there enough support for Python 3.x to use that or is it better to stick with Python 2.7.x for the time being?6

Spent the last 2 and a half days working on sth, it turned out great. Was pointed out a major mistake in the structure, have to redo about 95%. Kill me now.

One hour passed and all I did is trying to fix React Native project that is refusing to compile which was perfectly working couple of days ago. Life is fun right?

Two days into the new year and you got made redundant after working there!

I totally forgot how bad working with JavaScript is. After like a year of working with properly typed TypeScript base where navigation and documentation works very well, now I am in a world where IDE (IntelliJ IDEA) does very little, essentially it's just now a stupid editor. After few days I miss TypeScript already.

Arduino project going off the budget and teacher asking for more functionality because "it can be made within 30 mins". We are working for 3 days and only things we are getting to know is new components that we need to add. That too in summer holidays... Fml2

Somehow I find NOT working much more exhausting than working.
By "not working" I mean being blocked for days/weeks by procedural, technical or communication stuff (peeps I depend on are busy with other HI-prio tasks, waiting for approvals, etc.), where I have to keep on pinging them for updates, monitoring comms channels for news, finding smth to do to justify for the clients the 8 hours I bill them for.
Just let the man work alright!!! GIMME WORK!!!!4 -
That moment when you've been working on unix based project with vim for several days and you get back to Eclipse and always type :wq to save your file ...

Is there anyone else who's working for a company regardless of day and nights? Holidays or working days? And still get the old shitty pay?

Spent 2 days trying to figure out why the template app didn't work, debugging and commenting out code....
The solution was somehow the XML elements need to be flipped... AKA... the template ***written by a Google monkey*** is WRONG!!!!

I am working my ass off for past couple of days to set up our new office. Today I got sick and sleep walked most of the time. Thank god my colleague was there with me. I'm home now and took a day off. 🤒🤒😞

Hello guys, I need your help.
Recently we purchased new property for our company. And we are about to start working there in few days.
And now we are searching quotes to stick on wall there.
Can you guys help me with this?
Please suggest me some quotes.16 -
One day every 2 week, we got to spend the Friday just learning and trying stuff. No working on projects unless it's critical.
On these days, I feel like I learn much more than in the rest of the weeks.
Today I built (normally Python developer) a web service using Rust. -
I had to switch machines in class. To continue working on my project, I needed to install 17 gb worth of Unity 2019 bullshit. Guess what? They removed the progress bar in the move to Unity Hub. Now I just get "Installing..." This seems minor, until I don't know if I'll be working in two minutes or two fucking days. What the fuck, Unity? Why would you remove a fucking progress bar?2

I need to decide about my new job:
+ 20% more salary
+ better job/role
+ 1 or 2 days in the office by average per week
- no more 100% remote
Accept or no? I have been working from home for 3 years24 -
When I was creating pixel art creator program and each pixel was an separated object, performance was horrible, and after 2 days of intensive thinking I figured it out. I made working canvas. Ram usage dropped by 1800% and speed increased by 40000%. My satisfaction was unimaginable.3

Commit changes that is working perfectly.
Goes on vacation for 2 days.
Comes back to work and only half of my changes were merged to the test environment.
Also, the merge master decided to update my branch with the test branch.
Nice... now I have to redo most of my work.1 -
*Developing new program for flight crew on a plane.
*Using 5 days to prepare a "test flight" to see if the program is working in real life conditions.
*Flight takes of on a 5 hour trip.
*Tablet does not work.1 -
My craziest interview prep was for the role I just started last week. I applied to AWS and forgot about it, a month later I got invited to do a phone interview followed by a 5 hour on-site loop
I had just 4 days to prepare while already working full-time so I basically didn’t do anything after work for those few days other than cramming through over 50 hours of content on ds & algo, linux, networking and scalable system designs.
It helped that I’ve been working as a software engineer for many years so I just needed to review what I already knew1 -
Did A big stupid thing right now
Deleted a web page, which took me three days to write. Very pissed right now. Should have added to GitHub repo
I started working on a new file on my project. After I finished working on the project I started doing something which didnt worked out. So I deleted the local version of the repo since the repo was backed up on the server. But the file that I completed last night was not yet added to the repo.1 -

Was thinbking about a frequentlly asked feature in app since December 2022.
Solution cam to me last night, 1 hour to do a POC, working.
3 days next sprint to implement it properly.
Feels good :) -
I already HATE Laravel, and I haven't even got it working yet. I have now wasted 3 days on this bullshit14

I was in dependency hell for two days.
Im a junior working in a team creating an ember app. Suddenly a main component refuses to work since an addon threw "EmberObject undefined"... Nobody could reproduce it and we where out of ideas, so I tried fixing it for 2days (7h total). I finally got it working after updating yarn :D
It never felt so good working again :) -
After working with Angular 1 for a while, I had my doubts about learning Angular 2
After playing with Angular 2 for the past couple of days, I think I much prefer it. -
Best part of being a (freelance) dev : working from home, being able to see my newborn son slowly growing up. Not easy to run after clients days after days, but I don't regret the silly project managers, the dumbasses from the marketing, and, gosh, I don't miss the CTOs. :)1
-
FUCKING FUCK, I have been working on a school project I planned to give up but finally I gave it some more days and I got it working. But the program that should correct me didn't have a fucking include I forgot in my code and I got "The build failed, your project couldn't be tested" so it's 01

when a client agrees on a 23 working day timeline, two days after contract signature emails you they need it in 4 days and that it's a matter f life and death! :@3

When working on feature the client requested for two straight days, one that required refactoring few others. Just to hear on the third day, that no, he won't be needing it after all.
It is simple git revert, but still. Two days of work just removed be single command because of incompetent client.rant wk71 git client dumb clients who don't know what they want waste of time git revert wasted time2 -
Had junior devs work on a new feature on a project I spent days fixing. They spent days on the new feature but built it off of the broken version of the project and never pulled from the repository. Now when I merged their new feature onto the working and correct branch, their feature is all broken. I swear Im going to kill them all.3

FUCK ASUS FUCK service centers
Fuck Asus. My laptop charger was not working and I called them. These fucking people asked me to get my warranty approved because according to thier database they only have manufacturing date. So they said send us the invoice and we will update it So they wanted me to wait 5 days to get an entry updated in their database. 😑😑 After this shit. I have to wait 7 days for a new charger. These people and Thier service it's shit shit shit4 -
Just spent two days on a isotope filtering bug with HubSpot. Finally got it working.
10 points to me 😂 -
Layoffs, hard to see good working people leaving the building.
You can feel the mood of the company the next days/weeks is a killer of productivity. -
I was making software for a small handheld RFID scanner that would read specific fields from the tags. Somehow one of the fields always missed the first byte. Given that I was new to working with C I thought it was my lack of skills in the language. Spent days searching my methods, trying to find my mistake. After day two I found out I was given the wrong address to read from, and that I had just wasted two days.2

lol started using unity a couple of days ago and with the tutorials and everything it was all going merry and well. I followed the roll a ball tutorial word by word and letter by letter. the game worked perfectly, well....
at least in unity.
Thing is, I build the game and boom.
I have a working game with no collision detection(basically not working). didn't touch unity for 4 days now. Fuck I hate when this happens.3 -
I just realised how much I fucked up. This whole 2 days I was working on something and new and new bugs were showing up every fucking minute. I get it now. It was a fucking sign the whole logic was fucked. Oh fuck me!

The house is quiet...
I work from home most every day. Then came COVID.
Working from home went from a wonderful experience to god awful most days.
It worked like root's rant:
https://devrant.com/rants/2957491/...
So today for the first time in what seems like years (but really just a few months) I'm working from home and everyone is out of the house.
It will only happen a few days a week.... but oh man it is nice ....1 -
It has been 2 days since I completed a project and I still don't feel like working. I wake up, waste the whole time and repeat. Ugghhh its frustrating!!!1

Working with python been banging my head for 2 days and keep getting this error. Tried fixed on Google but not one has worked.26
-
One thing I have realised these days is that I don't like the work from home setup.
Maybe it's the because of the bad working environment.
I actually appreciate office space more now. Once, out of office, it was easier to zone out of work mode and I didn't feel this much tired when working in office.1 -
7 days in, still can't get anything more than the infinitely seen tutorial GET / request working on a lambda function.
Oh, you've got something more complex, god forbid a POST handler? well, prepare yourself for days of suffering.
how far can you really go from standard software patterns?
Giving it about 20 more minutes and i'm going full self-managed, I don't have time for this shit

Optimized some code yesterday to speed up writes and reads to the various channels of a pixel of an image.
One of the changes was to directly modify the original image, instead of copying the modded pixels to a new image.
Code stopped working.
After a day of debugging and going insane since the methods that had to be working were in fact working, I decided to check whether the image I was loading had an alpha channel, which my program wrote to and read from.
No alpha channel. Some days I feel like a complete fool. -

The procedure of introducing new coworkers here is still not clear to me.
I hear a new person is introduced behind me, so i thought i had to shake a new hand soon. But no.

When you tell one of your teammates this would be a perfect feature to develop using TDD. They agree, and after a couple of days they send you a code review with 0 unit tests and a message saying "I will start working on the tests while you review this."

When working with a customer and he says that the implementation can wait for a bit. But then decides that there needs to be a temporary implementation in 2 days. And it can later be implemented the way it should be.. Thanks for letting me know on time! #timeVeryMuchWasted

Who else finds its hard working from home/remotely? since I've been working remotely full time, I feel like I've been working harder and longer hours, I think its because I'm being evaluated solely by outcomes that I feel the need to put in more effort. Not like the days where I could rock up to the office for 8 hours and that was good enough, no matter how much work got done.1
-
I had fever for 2 days and finally after resolving my assigned issues/tickets yesterday, I called my PM for a MC today - my fever is still quite bad.
My name was still called a few time in group chats asking for updates, by the same PM, as if I am working from home. -
After working with firefox for couple of days, for development, launched chrome, launched 4 tabs
Whole system become unresponsive1 -
I have been working on a project for few weeks now. I've found collaborators willing to test the software until "official release" when they'll sub as my first customers. I am a couple of days away from releasing the early version and my laptop desides it won't turn the fuck on.

Ever have one of those days where you work really hard on something only to be completely defeated by the architecture you're working in. I seriously want to rearchitect this entire damn project. Spaghetti code doesn't even begin to touch it.1

Why is it always so exhausting to communucate with clients?
It's been 11 fkin days since I started working on one really simple project, but it's still not done because client can't respond within 1 day...1 -
I am working as business development officer,I was keeping on discussing requirement with my client since ,5-6 days she was almost ready next day she suddenly put the whole requirements which I help her to figure out what actually she want or look like she posted the same to upwork for other developers to bid.2

Not working side projects enough. Really puts me behind where I could be but working 9-7 5 days a week I really CBA in my spare time.1

University projects. I used to always delay them till the last day/days(somehow I knew when to finally start working to be just in time to complete it). There i would be not sleeping for 2/3 days and submitting like 5/10 minutes before deadline time.
P.s. I've only been working for about a year so not much to quote from there -
After many days, My computer started working fast.

Studying and working at tge same time is hard. I woke up before seven, spend 6 hours studying for exam I have tomorrow, now I'm going to office, and when I get back at 7pm I have to finish project for tomorrow and study some more for exam. Hate days like this one4

I have to work on a site and I have recently been working on stuff none stop so I am a bit burnt out. Anyways, I have to have this site done by Monday and I have already delayed 5 days playing Rainbow 6 Siege. I am ready to come back

Omg, I can barely see! I think I’ve been working too hard. 123 days straight, 10-14 hours per day. Maybe I’ve lost my mind?10
-
Some days, most of the worktime is dedicated to report invalid/useless specifications and wait for the right ones to actually start working on the project

QA people hurt my head. "I found this issue" cool write it up. Proceeds to not write it up. "Hey this isn't working" yeah your on the wrong PR. For the 80th time. "Hey I just found out 4 days after deploying this key feature is no longer working" did . . . did you test it? I'm irritated. Probably because all of my tickets got sent to triage because I pushed them to the wrong PR. My life hurts. The burn out is real.

Two working days lost because of windows update: pc takes a lot of time to shut down .. lot of time to open .. when it opens it is very laggy because the windows update service is consuming my disk usage .. what is the hell is microsoft doing?
Is anyone else facing the same problem? Serious question here3 -
Finished a project a few days ago with the coolest code I've ever written. Problem: It's a college project, with a totally unrealistic use case and it makes absolutely no sense to continue working on it now :/ How can I let it go?3

So, on Thursday I rant about the developer before me and his last project.
Just now decided the database needs to be restructured and management said just put it on hold!

Actually I'm writing a Facebook Messenger Bot. Characters limit for each sending message is 320, so I made simple function to split messages on parts. I set the limit to 315, 5 characters less than Facebook.
Spend 3 days on finding solutio why messenger is sending only last part of message.
Today I made a change, set my character limit to 316 and what? It's working! Set it to 320? Working!
Messenger has problem only when it's 315!

Some stats on what I've been doing all 2020:
222 working days.
60% of the days, working on dev stuff.
80% of the days, working on 2nd responsibility (legal documentation for clients).
From April, 60% of the 222 days working on the 3rd responsibility I got assigned in, you guessed it, April (KPI making).
So basically 70% of my job is no longer what I signed up for.
That's what I want to change this year. -
Some days I just can't seem to get any of my code working. What makes it worse is that it gets 'harder' to figure out the longer it takes because the stress of it all really wears me down...2

I know a guy who's been working for a company for 7 months self employed. Covering their shortage as a modest rate of a ton a day, with a weeks notice on the days in, typically 2 or 3 days each week. The company is now offering 3x months fixed contract PAYE 5 days but wants 80 a day now. And now recruiting for other full time staff. What do you reckon, is he going to get used and then replaced as the new guys get trained up?3

Nothing says asshole like a guy who won't approve your MR even though the feature is working but they prefer implementing it using their preferred approach.
Different coding styles for different folks. What matters is that the approach used is efficient, working and tested. But oh no, you have to write the code exactly how they want it.
Good thing we're free to merge our own MR when the reviewer takes more than two days to merge it.4 -

After couple of days of pulling my hairs, found someone had overriden the test lib methods by mistake😭😭3 -
So the project I'm working on atm and ranted about a couple of days ago... There is absolutely no documentation and the code is at least ten years old.
At least I can contact the old dev, but he's slower at replying, than reading the code through and figuring it out 😐1 -
8 more working days and then I’m done, out of the company, no longer part of this crazy project.

Does anyone else enjoy working remote but also have complaints about it? My biggest complaint is not being on a schedule and getting out enough.
More often than not I find myself not tired at the end of the day, so falling asleep is hard. I guess the commute drains you a lot more than I assumed. My previous 1hr+ commute both ways has turned into a roll out of bed and begin working commute.
I keep wanting to go work from a coffee shop or something, but just haven't. I've also considered travelling somewhere and working from s different city for a few days but haven't tried that either.1 -
Today I told my manager that my work from home is not working properly because of internet connectivity issues. So I’m on leave for 7 days starting tomorrow😁1

The project I'm on has a hard deadline and we were told that we may need to start putting in extra hours. We already are, BTW. I've been working 12-14 hour days.
I was just "invited" to a mandatory meeting where management is going to improve our morale for an hour by cooking for us. Awesome.1 -
Can’t remember the longest “consecutive hours” session, but had a few work days that probably lasted 14 hours ( had breaks though )
Did however do 7 months of work days starting at 6am and ending at 5pm, but had two long breaks most days.
Also did a 21 day working streak once, skipping 3 weekends.
Now I work comfortably 😬 -
So I presented a presentation about programming a couple of days ago. It received good feedback and the leader of that event wants me back to present another event within a couple of days. Yeah, couple of days!!!! The first one took me almost 2 weeks to prepare, not sure if a couple days is enough
This guy has strong connections and want me to speak to people for consultant work. I do want to work as a consultant, but that's a risk I guess.
On the other hand, I'm currently working as a fulltime fullstack developer on a project with lots of challenges. Its fun but not something I want to do for many years.
A voice inside me is telling me to go on this adventure, and focus on my company instead.
I feel like this is a special moment in my life, and one decision is the right one to take.
What would you do, continue working as a fulltime developer or focus on building your company? Or if you have similar experience you want to share?5 -
It is now 5PM!!! Weekend begins!!!
Now why do I feel like I need a weekend after only working 3 days this week though...1 -
This is why i hate android ... look at this REVIEW i received today:
"PLZ WORK ON IT ITS JOR WORK ON FB MESSENGER BEFORE DAYS PLEASE DO SMTHNG" what am i supposed to understand xD, i tried it on my device and my friends one its working like a charm :(3 -
Fuck javascript, been on this firestore cloud function since yesterday , i have been get some stupid errors like expected catch or return promise/catch or return , used some stackoverflow answers still not working. Uugggh really wished cloud firestore used a better language like python,..what more do u expect from a language created in 7 days..shitty js

Was working on a nestjs api and building it on a starter template. After a year of work nest framework has been upgraded by two major version and api is unupgradable and in dependency hell.
Solved it by doing a transplant into new codebase built using cli. Only took two days. Everything went better than expected. -
It's like my life is divided into two parts these days. Some days I wake up and the sun is shining and everything feels good. Other days I wake up and remember that I'm going to be working on writing unit tests all day. :/
-
So many occasions to choose from! Probably the most pissed I've been is when I'd been assigned to work on (and completed fixes for) the same bug as another developer twice in the same week after already having spent 4 days working on a new enhancement that's requirements changed literally an hour after I'd saved the code!
-
Im working 6days, than I'm free 4 days. So 2-3 days from those 4, I would like to do some internship, traineeship or call whatever you want, at isp, data center or enterprise, to kick some real life network engineer experience. Basically I have 0 real life experience even I'm preparing to ccnp. Guys, I can't even find unpaid internship... When they hear that I have finished bachelor like 6 years ago, they just don't want to hear from me. I am deeply disappointed. Sometimes I feel that I won't have an it support job even with ccie... I mean I already feel more skilled than the complete IT crowd at the company where I'm working but no one cares. If you have some advice like where to go, please share with me...1

When I take a leave from work for a day, I feel lost.. two days in a row, I start working on random side or home projects.. after the third day, I don't ever want to go back to work..
I wonder how many of you feel the same... -
Two days working on company server, format and reinstall ubuntu.
Using cd is much better than using thumb drive -
Greatest distraction when coding -> Annoying project managers really. I quit a company after working 4 days because the PM on the project just wouldn't respect boundaries. Always asking for updates every 10mins.
-
And now just 2 days left for the weekend here...!
Deadline for completing the code successfully have arrived at my Outlook door step.
I'm working hard on this and my physical brain needs rest but consciousness needs brain resources !
What a pity !1 -
Hi Guys! Currently I'm learning backend web development on freecodecamp.com. Before this I've learned python, just for fun, but I 'painfully' enjoy both. I'm working on an other field now (cnc machining), but I tought I could become a developer. Now I've lost my confindent because a few article on Quora. There a guy (and not only he) said, technicly it'll take over my life. Unbelievable amount of extra time exclude working hours, stress and 18 hours working days. My long plan was to be an independent freelancer, with an easy working schedule (I don't want to be rich, jus have a food valanced life). I've been hoped in a fairy tale? It'll drain my life?4

I hate when i change working code just to make it replace an input field on the page with a loading spinner effectively nullifying the value of the input and take 2 days to notice smh2
-
Oh, how I loved KDE Plasma, but wtf is this? Alt+Tab is not working anymore for a few days now - had to change shortcut to something else. And from today, notifications does not look like Plasma notifications but exactly like in Unity. DAFUQ!
-
We have had 2 days on intermittent internet literally we have 5minutes of down time then 15-25seconds of the internet working. How can a tech company be expected to function like this!1
-
It is really really really sad, when you tried to make a complex thing work in many days. When you tested, it was working amazingly. When you were about to finalize delivery after one week, it fucked and stopped working. Now either you fix it, or find another BLOODY algorithm! 😠
-
Why the hell my boss gonna 'pimp me out' to another business for a project he's working on with them. Basically introduced me to them over email with a few days deadline. Still can't get all the details I need.1

I am dev working on data warehousing. Want to switch to autonomous vehicle industry as a vision engineer.
How to start ?
PS: I did projects on CV during my BE days(2016) and won a gold medal in that. -

Seems like working in a start up is more tougher than i thought it will be.
Damn it's is taking a lot to keep up now a days.
Need advice to balance out thing.
Before this startup thing I was a freelance developer.1 -
I only spend like 10-15 minutes to go to the office by motorcycle (that's the cool part, to avoid traffic).
In the past days, these 10-15 minutes are everlasting: like i start my engine and then i feels like an hour before i get home or to the office.
Man i really need a vacation from my life or to start working remotely (working on that)2 -
I've been feeling a lot of burnout these past few days/weeks... But like only in a specific programming language? Which is an issue cause I mainly work on python and I can't seem to bring myself to do that while learning and working with new languages/frameworks in classes are no problem.1

Branch Staff Member: EFTPOS isn't working
Me: Are you logged in as the right user?
Staff: No
*staff switches user*
Staff: Still not working
*remote in and see software had crashed*
*check computer uptime* ... 38 days
Me: Give it a restart
Rant: why do people expect their issues to be resolved magically by IT when rebooting would (usually) fix it? -
Trying to setup drupal from scratch on main windows desktop, 2 days in fiddling with phpa and apache server to get clean URLs and OPCODE caching working. To finally finish the installation.
-
Finally managed to build a working Wordsearch system with OpenCV and curses.
I curse ncurses till the end of days. -
I've been working on an ERP system these days. Learned how to properly use AJAX and JS. Also, my code is so much organized now, I can really say I'm a better dev now than I was before and this particular project is making me give my everything everyday.
-
3 days when I had to complete documentation for an audit. I only returned to my room to shower and change clothes for the next day. That too I left at 8AM and returned at 09:30AM.
2 days when I had to complete setting up the office network over the weekend. Note that this was over a weekend.
And this is without counting the many hours I've spent semi-working at hackathons. I've gone up to 60 hours without sleep, coding the shit out of my brains.2 -
Json + python is hell. I've been working on the past few days to pull key information out of json files with python and it would with some json files but not others.2
-
Would this be considered overworking yourself.
2 full-time IT Help Desk jobs.
1 will be Monday through Friday
1 will be Saturday through Wednesday
3 days out of the week. You are working back to back jobs
4 days out of the week. You will be working just 1 job1 -
My day:
-continue working on a project which i haven't -committed for 3 days
-add 20 lines of code
-mistakenly deleted the route file
-restore the file (thinking I'm saved)
-open the file
-50+ lines of code gone2 -
How the fuck you define a prototype in Android development?
Is it something like "here is the design showing all possible working and functionality, make a working app with all cloud calls integration in 7 days.
If its working as expected, we will just do some ui enhancements, replace your testing firebase with our own broken cloud, replace default pickers with some library or our own broken pickers and spend 30 days on all this plus the testing"
Is this what you define as a prototype? Like yeah the new intern will do the heavy lifting in all his prototype and then we will start the work on our end, in the meantime giving the intern another new prototype idea and scolding him for delay?1 -
So the restaurant I work for get interns to "revamp" the employee website (says so right on the page). The site didnt work the first couple days they had it up. Then it was fine for a week. Now everyone is getting a 404. I had thought about working as a software engineer for home office, but now Im not sure I want to since they cant even get a website working correctly for more than a week.

Engineering days: Wasting the entire semester and studying a few days before exams
Post Engineering days: Wasting the entire day and working just a few hours before the shift ends
Happy Engineers Day everyone😄 -
Last week we commenced a programming project on a machine that was being built for a customer with a view to them coming to test machine in 8 working days, we spent 2.5 days re wiring due to bad electrical design, a further two days changing mechanical design, and I have had half a day coding. We now have three days before customer comes and about three weeks work to do. Might be some long days3
-
The pomodoro technique and some nice music usually helps me get through dev days. Since I'm pacing myself working on small tasks at a time it doesn't feel like I've spent the entire day coding
-
good thing about working from home all weekend is that on Monday at work you don't have that shitty feeling "it's fucking Monday".
Plus, you meet some humans after 2 days in the cave2 -
I’m leaving the company I’m working for this week. Git really sick yesterday. Pinged hr about it and told them that I know that it looks bad being sick on the last days. Asked if I could use the sickdays we get, got refused and had to use a vacation day.2

When you are asked to show a minimal working demo of what you have been working on past 2 days but you realise you are in the middle of refactoring those 7 files. Now you don't want to undo nor have time to finish remaining work.
-
Study: burn out causes in effective ouput.
Co developer: we need to finish this 2 week task in 2 days
Me: aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Co developer: Working 12 hrs a day
Me: ........aaaaaaaaaa1 -
Some days are like being a musician on tour. I wake up to a new code base every 2 hours. After a while I'm like, "What client am I even working on?"
