Our programming teacher had a surgery on his left eye and will not be able to do the lessons with us. Guess what the subject of the email he sent us was.
"I can't C#."
He made a pun about his fucking health status, alright then.14 -
This happened few hours ago.
Client: I received an email which says that I won 1 million dollars. They gave me a link in the email, when I entered my credit card details nothing happened.
Me: Wait what? You entered your credit card details.
Client: Yes
Me: That was a scam, you didn’t win anything. They stole your credit details. Contact your bank ASAP and let them know about this.
Client: You guys are handling our email servers, why can’t you guys keep it safe. What type of security do you guys provide.
Me: Wait what? We host your website application not email.
Client: Damn it. My son said the same thing, but I didn’t listen to him. Anyways Cheers.11 -
I had to add a "I'm not a robot" checkbox to protect an email address written in a page reachable only from our intranet. Boss asked, I executed.7

A client called
Client: Hello Mr. Can you come to our office today?
Me: Yes sure
In fews hours I was there
Client: Check this email we are getting every day
It was email from spammers who asking to redesigning their website because it was not responsive
Me: 🧐Thinking ‘valid point !’
Me: So what you need me to do for you then?
Client: We need you to redesign the site
Lol - thanks spammers for bringing in new client12 -
Not a rant....

Receives email from warranty guy in work.
Warranty: "Hi, see attached scan in PDF form.
I normally fill the boxes in manually, scan as pdf to myself and then email it on to the higher ups, but they now say they need it in excel form from now on! Can you convert it for me?"
Me: "It looks like your scan's quality isn't good enough for a convert to excel.
Where do you get the original form?
Is it from a website?"
Warranty: "Hang on and ill send you an email with the file and give you a call"
*receives email and a phone call"
Warranty:
"There you go. Theres an excel sheet in that email. what do i do?"
Me: "So.... just so I understand the question... you just fill in this excel sheet, scan as pdf and send it on... but they want it sent as an excel form and not a pdf?"
"Yes."
"So.... Could you not just fill in the excel sheet and email it to them?"
"What do you mean?"
"....fill in the excel sheet as normal, and go to file, share and email... send the original one on."
"And what would that do?"
"...you... you'd be sending the form as an excel sheet, as requested??"
Warranty: *silence for 10 seconds* Oh, i see now. I get you! You're a genius! Well done for figuring it out. Thanks a million!!"

Once I forgot to break a loop that was supposed to send 100 email to a colleague in the middle of the night.
She did not get 100 emails, she got alot more11 -
Got an email from client with subject starting with "VERY URGENT", the email mentioned how urgent it is to fix this issue multiple times, it implied that they couldn't do anything else while this issue existed, but they were very light on details. So sparse on them that I couldn't reproduce the issue. 15 minutes after the original email I write a reply asking for some clarifications.
They proceed not to reply for 4 days. Fix took 5 minutes after they explained the problem better.
Apparently it wasn't so urgent after all.6 -
Client: you never sent an email!! What am i paying you for!!
Me: *checks freshsales, sees he's ACTUALLY OPENED THE EMAIL* sir we're sure we've sent you an email.
*Argumen goes on for a while*
Me: *pissed, sends freshsales screenshot that he's opened it* have you or have you not opened this email on your account ****@**.com?
Client: oh on that account? Ok.3 -

User: Well it says email address is already taken
Me: Uh...

Last september:
I get an email from a customer who want to end the contract. I inform him that the contract runs to the end of March and it will be terminated the last of march.
Customer agrees and I do not hear a word from him. Until now when I closed down all his services.
Angry email:
Why did you close the server and email? are you **** stupid!?
I reply:
21/9 2016, you wanted to terminate all services you had with us. That means that your domains, DNS-services, VPS, email and Office 365 was going to be closed today.
Why is this not uncommon?!5 -
Today it was revealed that the dutch government doesn't even fucking use SPF records for their email. Someone found out by sending an email in the dutch's govt name and it actually fucking worked.

Contrary to most people I really love to receive email related to jobs when I'm in holiday. I keep important alerts on.
It's like:
email: ***urgent, server down***
me (sipping mojito by the pool): fuck them. let's them deal with that
email: ***requirements all wrong, must develop the feature again***
me (enjoying a dinner): oh, I told them 100 times!, fuck all of them, work for me now, stupid moron.
email: I destroyed by mistake the db with an update..."
me (dancing like crazy): ahahaha I told you that support guys should not have access to production db, fuckfuck you, fix it yourself!!!
and so on..... I don't know, it just boost my pleasure during holiday.9 -

Time for a rant!.
Got a client I've just built a website for and they went live 2 weeks ago.
This morning he sends me an email saying that the website is not good enough because it's not making any sales or getting any traffic.
I send an email back asking if he has a marketing / SEO company... The response was I thought you do that as you said the site would be SEO friendly!!!.
I'm a developer! Not a marketer, fuck off.2 -

Oooh, got one. Not a question, but a mind-blowing moment:
For some reason, my parents put my email address on one of their accounts, and it was an old one that I had stopped using years ago. Then, this conversation with my parents happens, at their home with the laptop I gave them sitting open on the table:
me: "you guys should probably give them your email address."
mom: "we don't have one."
me: "what about dad's?"
dad: "no, I don't have an email address."
me: "you used to have one. what happened to it?"
dad: "that one was at the library. I don't have one here."
me: 😑
My father apparently doesn't know the basic concept of the internet and its global nature.2 -

Yep, thata right. Fuck Wordpress Raspberry Pi. Thanks to my inability to interact with proton mail filtering I just made a script that checks for a new email and if it contains words "wordpress", "help", " hack", "build" and it is not from whitelisted contact, the email is moved to the Fuckpress folder and automatic reply is sent back that I AM NOT FUCKING DOING YOUR GAYPRESS FUCKING SHIT FOR YOUR 5$ CUNT.

jim : "yeah, we found out about it yesterday, i am working on a fix right now"
me : "so why did you not send and email to everyone that master is broken, don't pull changes"?
jim : "hey... someone told me to fix it, so that's what i am doing. that doesn't include sending an email. if you want to, you can send it.. "7 -

Question regarding implementing two factor authentication.
I want to implement 2FA for at least one service I'm writing but I'm wondering, next to email, what services/implementations could I use?
I know that email isn't the best when it comes to security but I also don't want to force (a-technical) users to install an app specifically for 2FA so keeping email as an option as well.
But except for email, any ideas? Anything related to Google/facebook (prism integrated services) are a no go anyways (this has, as mentioned before, nothing to do with my ego or giving myself 'a pat on the back')
As for costs, I don't mind a little bit of money but the service will be free at first and I'm not rich :)
Looking forward to the comments!22 -

I just sent an email to a client about a bug fix with Bootstrap 3 Date/Time Picker, which was not working with Firefox and Safari.

I love these kinds of clients.4 -
Client sends me support email concerning the CMS.
There's not enough details to go on, esp. browser info, so I ask her to fill out a support ticket.
She does, but doesn't enter any browser info, AND mistypes her email address so I have to correct it to reply to the right email.
I send her to whatbrowseramiusing.co and ask her to send the info to our support email address.
She emails support directly with these words: "I am using Google bowser".
I reply: click "Send to my designer" on whatbrowseramiusing.co and I give her exact steps to fill out the three form fields
She replies: "There is no 'Send to my designer', I only get the option to buy the domain."
I'm like "Whut?!" Did you mistype the URL? Why don't you click the link in the email? (Paraphrase)
This time I get an official email from whatbrowseramiusing.co, telling me that the client is using Safari 5.0.5. Which is five years old.
At that point I replied and said we really can't support this older browser, and included a link to the Firefox download page.7 -

PM after 3rd attempt to identify the email they're missing: comes into my office and tells me he's not even going to answer my emails anymore cause I can't find his missing email.

not really a rant, but but i am intrigued...
got an email that my rockstar account (gta) email was changed.
changed the email and password and noticed that all the details were changed (nickname, date of birth etc) and the guy even posted on support asking to remove steam link (probably could not login). It's about a guy that knows better.
I was working as a subcontractor on a bigger system. We (subs) were not allowed to deploy code, we had to wait for contractor to deploy.
One day I got an email that my code is bugged and that my feature is not working on production. I checked it on test env, everything was fine. Then I checked if the code I wrote was deployed. It was not.
I send an email explaining that if they deployed my code it would be working. Then I got a response. There was a bug in my code.
Another email. I asked how would they know? Do they have a test on their environment that failed?
No. There is one guy that READ my code and he said it should not work, so he will not deploy it. He was not a programmer, he was a business consultant responsible for the documentation.
His issue was that I used a function that was not in a class. So if the function is not declared it's obvious it will not work. I had to explain to him in another email, that you can use object of another class inside your class and then call a function, that is not in your class. It was the last time this guy blocked my deploy.
TL;DR, I had to explain a non-dev how object composition works in order to have my code deployed. Took four emails.4 -
It's finally happened. I've used my mail servers for about a year to give out different email addresses on my domain to things I sign up for online, and only used my "actual" email address that received all this email for the whole domain but the single one that I used outbound for private communications.
This worked well for a long time as I could see when spam comes in, where it came from by looking at the email address I designated it. Each company's email would be sent not only from an email address that they choose, but also to an email address that I choose. It allowed me to easily determine where there were problems. For example, on Freenode IRC my vhost happened to make my username@host there a valid email address. It eventually got blacklisted due to too much incoming spam as crawlers started detecting it. Another one was "nickname"@my.domain as I posted it a few times here. Got crawled as well. But it allowed me to easily blacklist each.
I'd never thought my actual outbound email address, my real one, to get crawled though. That would require the mail server of a company I explicitly communicated with to get hacked. But today that happened. I wonder whose it is, but I can't tell.
Time to make my outgoing email bound to a designated email address as well. I want to know which companies this happens to, even if they don't disclose it.4 -
Just got a lection from my manager.
Today he sent me an email with request to change validation on one field validation from decimal(5,3) to int which will be 5 digit number. Ok i did that, I changed it on UI, changed validation, changed mappings, changed dtos, created migration files, and changed it in databse. After i did all of that I replied to his email and said that ive changed validation and adjusted it in database.
After my email here comes rage mail from manager with every fuckin important person in cc I kid you not. Manager is asking why the fuck did I change database when Ive could only use different validaton for that field on UI.
I Almost flipped fuckin table. What does validation good do if you wouldnt be able ti save that form? And form has like 150 fields. And if I left validation only everthing would fuckin break.
Sometimes i think that its better not to think.

Stakeholder: Our customers aren’t getting their order confirmation emails. It’s going to their spam. Is there a way to resend the emails?
Me: Wait. The email getting sent to their spam is not the same as not getting the email. Is it both or just one of those things?
SH: Here are some emails getting sent to spam.
Me: These are sent by third party vendors that you contract with. I have no control over what they do. You need to talk to your vendors.
SH: 😮

A friend of mine got an account hacked on Crunchyroll. Whenever he tried to login, the website told him that no account with his email existed. As I had two accounts, I tried something real quick. I logged in to the account I'm not using and tried to change the email address to a 10 minute mail. I logged into my own email account patiently waiting for a confirmation email. After 10 minutes I still hadn't received it. So I checked the 10 minute mail, and there it was. I can't describe how furious I got with Crunchyroll at that point. Are you for real? It's that easy? Fucking idiots. I hope the guy responsible for that system dies in a fire with a thousand rubber penises up his ass!7

Oh my God...
A colleague of mine got an email. The email was badly translated into our language (probably Google translate was used) it said 'please open invoice attached'.
The anti-virus software successfully marked it as a virus, and did not allow my colleague to open attached 'invoice.exe' file.
Now by this point you would think that the person would just delete the email, but no. The colleague looked at me, and with the bitchiest voice said 'I got an invoice and can't open it after your anti-virus installation. Fix it!'
Needless to say, I had to explain, what a virus is and teach all the colleagues not to get hooked on scam mail... Took about 4 hours to explain this seemingly simple concept.
Fuck knows, how they did not nuke their IT infrastructure before I came here :/11 -
WTF!!!!! I officially have someone trying to extort me just had this in my email box this morning!

Hello,
My name is [name removed], I'm an IT security expert and I found a security issue on your website.
This email is personal and in no way related to any of my employers.
I was able to access to a lot of files which contains sensitive data.
I attached a screenshot of the files I found to this email.
I would be happy to give you the method I used to access these files in order to let you fix it.
Would be a monetary compensation possible?
Please forward this email to the right person, if your are not responsible for the security of the website.
Best Regards,

He can basically see the contents of my wp-config.php. How has he managed this?71 -
Oh gosh.. i can finally understand the CV and application nightmare stories... We're getting new people in, and there are quite a few interesting ones.
0) pages of randomly placed info. PAGES. I'm lost in there!!
1) no basic info whatsoever. Like, no nationality(we're recruiting internationally), no birthdate, barely his name and email. I know that the first ones are not really needed for the job, but they're still customary.
2) entry level back and/or frontend job. This guy's a phd graduate, working research with big data in a bio-something department. We're a web startup.
3) there are some listing so much unrelevant stuff, I'm not even sure if they meant to apply to us.
4) (my favourite) email subject: application, email body: empty, attached: short_application.doc ("hi, this is an application to the posted job. Best regards, Name") WAIT WHAT?6 -
TL;DR
This works: email+rant@domain.com
Spam filtering protip:
Did you know that the email spec allows you to use youremail+something@domain.com and the emails still come to you. This is especially useful when registering to a lot of places where you are not sure whether they will spam you or not. Filtering will be easy because you have a unique email address for each service. Also you can find out which service leaked your email address to spammers.
Additionally if you want to register to a service with two accounts but still want to use the same email, you can do this easily by adding +whatever in your email address.6 -
Got an email from a stakeholder about a $0 transaction for an item that was not meant to be $0. Found someone put a condition in the code to set the price to $0 if it couldn’t be queried from the database. Wut…that is…not logical 😵💫😵9

Recruiter story.. hilarious stuff..
I have an interview in next fifteen minutes and was setting up for it.
Recruiter calls me to remind me of the same.
I ask her to tell me who the interviewer would be, because she did not mention in the invite and also did not respond when I asked her over the email.
Her response: sure, wait a minute... Actually we are not allowed to disclose interviewer.
LMAO WTF!!7 -
I forgot my password to [SITE]. Of course, I click "forgot password", and enter my email, which I did remember. Fairly routine "ah shit we have a problem" steps.
Now, it takes a second. This is to be expected. So I'm not worried. I then get the email and...
Now, you will notice that I redacted some information, like the company name, email, and my PLAIN TEXT PASSWORD, and my name.
I would like to note that this isn't a small, very local company that's new (even then it'd be unacceptable), but this is a multinational, multimillion dollar company.
How'd someone fuck up THIS badly?13 -
So today I got an email about a job opportunity. The email was in romainian. This is the exact translation and bear in mind that in romanian as in every other language (I guess) alot of english phrases sound very cringy. This is the email:
We need a fearless hero for the IT realm!
X company, a thriving insurance community, is looking for a real hero of software development that can make code using the .NET mystical hammer that can only be lifted by a worthy, deserving and responsible warrior.
You can't fly? Can't shoot lasers? You are not wasting your night time by looking at the moon on tall blocks wearing a cape? Then you could be the hero we need.
Do not worry, the position does not imply superhuman strength :)) However, it requires intellectual strength and attention to detail. You can even use your powers from a comfortable chair in a welcoming team full of other heroes ready to help you. We won't leave you alone, after all even Batman has Robin :))
I have attached all the information you need. Only The Chosen One can open the document so you will know immediately if you are right. :))
If you want to be responsible with your strength, then I'm waiting for your updated English resume with all your heroic deeds in the past.
Remember, not all heroes wear capes!
... WHAT THE FUCK IS .NET MYSTICAL HAMMER??? AND WHO THE FUCK USES ":))" IN AN EMAIL??7 -
Not hacking per se, but I noticed an email floating between ISP and director about radius server login details, promptly saved for future reference.
One day noticed someone downloading mucho dataro... Pissed me off, interrupting my video stream.
Logged into radius server, blocked MAC address.1 -
So apparently I'd been hired 2 emails ago, only because the email said "I've been told that you're starting with us in April" and not "you're hired" I didn't realize it. Extremely neurotypical behaviour.16
-
Today I was asked if my email was all lowercase or uppercase. I wanted to be sarcastic but I relax this time.
I don't understand why only lowercase and uppercase why not camelcase?7 -
Just got an email reply with the following greeting: "Dear Cheers,"
Maybe somebody should tell the "Sales Director" of Gole that Cheers is NOT a first name.2 -
Marking your email as "High Priority" does not make it high priority. Nor will it get it attended to any faster. But keep believing it will, dear colleagues. Live happily in your little fantasy worlds.3

Email from a client today: The programmers just need to add an "if/then" code that IF ... BUT NOT ... THEN ... ONLY ... AND ...

If you CC: me on an email I won't read it because I'm clearly not the intended recipient and I'm not going to do your work for you in trying to work out why I should give a fuck.
If you wish me to actually *give* said fuck then send me my own fucking email explaining why I should give a rat's anus about your shitty little problems.
And, if you try to use "but I copied you on the email" as an excuse for your incompetence in a meeting, I will eviscerate you on the spot. You will be looking at your small intestine while I ask your assembled co-workers if they have any other business.
CC: basically means you have no respect for my time. So, if you do it, I'm coming for you...and your family...and your friends...and all the people you know on Linked-In...7 -
“Hey what’s this issue? Can you tell me what’s going on?”
“Yeah sure, what is it?”

How do people like this live? How do they not forget how to breathe or eat?11 -
useless fucking client bastards. i sent an email to all clients 2 months ago about gdpr and the impending deadline. Explaining that they need to update privacy and check webforms and internal procedures etc are compliant. I said I would help them implement any changes to their respective sites. Heard nothing from these fuckers... except this morning an email “what does the new gdpr mean for our website?”
FUCK OFF AND READ MY EMAIL, FOLLOW THE LINKS DO THE RESEARCH AND FUCKING SORT YOUR CUNTING SELVES OUT, I AM NOT YOUR FUCKING LAWYER.2 -
These dimwits emailed my receipt for my dues (not shown) AND MY USERNAME AND PASSWORD in the same PLAINTEXT UNENCRYPTED email...
Off to go write a cranky email...10 -
"What's my email again?"
"Come on. yourfirstname@ourlastname.at."
"Ah, right."
and
"How do I unblock you on WhatsApp?"
Other than that, not much recently.
I am a walking German dictionary to her, however. I mean, I don't need to google it most of the time, so maybe not worth telling her to just google it :P4 -
My boss is the head of IT.
I am the head of software, I have nothing todo with user rights in our software, this is head of IT things...
So my boss is gone, holiday.
User T calls in: Hey, I need rights for finance software X. Now.
Me: Yeah, my boss is gone for good, which rights exactly you need?
T: I don't know. Give me admin rights.
Me: I am not going to do that.
T: I will call my boss (head of her department, same level as my boss). He will tell you to do that.
Me: I will not listen to him, he don't decide about rights. IF you talk to the head of finance and he tells me you can have admin rights in the finance software, I could give it to you. Let him write a email to me about it.
T: Okay.
2 Minutes later.
Email, Head of finance: Hey Wasseratem, I don't decide for rights for the finance software X, normaly Head of IT does that.
(CC to T)
Email back: Yeah, he is gone, he will be back in 2 days, then he can decide.
Email from Head of Department of T: Give T admin rights. now.
Email back, CC Head of Department of T, Head of finance: No I will not do that (etc. explain why)
What the fck is T joking me?
Now She will not get any rights for thursday even when she will walk into my office with a gun.3 -
One of the most hated things by me in my entire Internet using experience is guys who comment on blogs and forums saying "Pls send me help/full code for this: my email is X and my number is Y"
Grow up guys. The admin is not your slave to send you personal help on an email.
It's so damn embarrassing I'm starting to hate my nationality.2 -
PSA to /[devs who things it's a good idea|management who thinks it's a good idea to force your devs]+/g:
There currently exists 1543 (and counting) top level domains. My email addresses follow the pattern: /^[a-z]+@panduro\.guru$/ and I die a little inside whenever I get told my email addresses aren't valid because you thought it was a good idea (to force your devs) to hardcode "valid" top level domains. There is a reason why the filter for input type email does not include top level domains.
And you can't even begin to comprehend how mildly annoyed I get when I message their support and tell them what the problem is (because I'm nice enough to do that) they instead of telling me "thanks for informing us we'll look into it" they tell me "well just get a gmail or something". I should not have to order social status reducing items with my school mail (especially not since I'll loose that email ¾ pairs of years)7 -
WTF Woke up this morning and found my email used to register to a website called fiverr.com!!
What is even worse is that at the end of the email where they have that section of: this email was sent to ..., the name is random letters
Even more ironic that website does not allow access from Lebanon ....
I think it is time to change my email, been getting a lot of spam into my inbox lately, though Gmail has a good spam filter :\6 -
Donate to Wikipedia one time and they haunt you for life. They’ll send you email after email and they are all rather ridiculous. On top of that be prepared to be hounded by phone as well. They are the equivalent of a roadside bum that keeps asking you for more, and each time you give he says, “Is that all you got?”. Frack whoever put this strategy in place, they’ve annoyed me to the point where I’d rather not give again.11
-
My boss went full psycho. I'll save her from some shame by not posting the email.
In one email she insulted every quality assurance consultant in the company.
She is supposed to be head of assurance5 -
Protip:
If I send you an email and it isn't urgent ... you don't have to reply and tell me:
"I'm on my way into the office, I'll respond when I get into the office."
All you did was waste time for both of us and your archive on send feature probably means you're going to forget that you got that email.
It's not helpful.... stop that...5 -
Best email of the year so far, from a "reputable" IT supplier.
I had asked for numerous copies of x86 and x64 copies of Windows 7.
Clarification email came back "I can't find an 84 bit copy of Windows. Can you clarify?"
Not sure that mail will be beaten this year. They weren't even looking for an 86 bit version.
Unfortunately I just had to explain rather than play along for a few hours as time limited.

De-duping drama continues. Background: stakeholder marked a bunch of records as “do not use” and didn’t realize/didn’t care about the impact on other systems. Many of those are active user accounts.
Stakeholder: What if we ask the user to create a new website account?
Me: they can’t register a new account of the email was used already. Are you expecting me to delete all those web accounts so the users can start over with their current email? Or are you saying you’re going to email 400 people and tell them to get a new email address and create a new account? Don’t force users to do extra steps to fix your mess.

There was a bug in "Change email" module. When the functionality is called, it sends 2 emails:
1. to a current email w/ a link to 'reject email change'
2. to a new email w/ a link to 'confirm email change'
The flaw was in how these links worked (the clockwork behind them). If one link is clicked, another one is NOT deactivated in the bkend :)
Now the task for you is to figure out why this is wrong :)4 -
Got a notification from devRant. Let's share information! Communicate! How do we do it? Via email!
You got question? Send an emai!
You want to share some excel? Send an email!
Not sure who to ask? Send the email to everyone!
Have a 100 message long email thread and then need some help? Send the whole fucking thread to me and just add "what do'ya think?"!
Send some attachment in email and then 2 weeks later refer to it saying "but I sent the file to you!"? Well surely I can remember your special email from the hundreds of email I get every week.
I did complain to the mangers that why the hell do we have these mega-email-threads? Why do you send all the meaningles release notes to the whole company? The anwer is simple: all information needes to be transparent and if you don't need the info, then just don't read the email!
And fuck you, you CEO wanna-be who sends seasonal greetings through his secretary and thinks anyone gives a shit.4 -
Clients r wankers. He wants to be able to send login details incl passwords in email to his clients when he adds them in the cms. The passwords are encrypted and generated on creation of a new user. Ive told him that sending credentials in email is shit and not secure. The stubborn bastard wont budge, so instead i've put explicit instructions to reset password once logged in with the credentials they send. Any other suggestions?3

My university alerts all student and staff any time a phishing email is reported. I've yet to attend one class, and I've received a few dozen emails alerting you of phishing emails being sent. It's sad people can't notice the pattern of the emails, and realize right away "Hey this is a bullshit email" and not rely on the alerts.
It's the 21st century; basic computer competency is a necessity.3 -

Applied for job. CV says I've been a web developer for over 6 years. Js included.
Recruiter doesn't read and discards me with b.s. excuse that I haven't developed with JS for more than 3 years.
I clarify that with polite email. Her boss send me an email to fill my portfolio on .docx file.
Wtf? I let it go.
Two days later they tell me I'm not responsible for doing their b.s. documentation.7 -
Is this for real?
https://docker.com/company/contact/
Docker sent me an email about some change in their service. I don't use docker and wanted to unsubscribe. There is no unsubscribe. So I reply to the email with the word "unsubscribe". It is returned immediately. Then I go to their website and the contact link. Use the form below it says.
No form. WTF?!
Docker, you close every route of communication and my only recourse to stop emails is to report it as spam?
Not impressed at all. I would not use a service that zero ways to contact. This no accountability service bullshit is a stupid trend.12 -
What kind of a fucked up company that has a 9 interview process in a 3 month period and sends the rejection email without a single line of feedback?

One of our clients IT team is lazy as fuck they slack too much, it took them 2 weeks just to respond our email (We already sent like 2-3 reminders in between).
Client:"We fucking pay you and it's still not ready, how much time it will take?"
Us: Just respond to that email ffs so we can proceed.
Client: Oh, there was an Email? we will have a look into that.
Even after, it took them 4days to send fields which were meant to be sent like 2weeks before.
(in between 4days we had called them just for the fields again and even after the fucking call they send that fucking fields after one reminder)
And of course, still, the blame game is on us.2 -

We receive an email from Splunk when errors go above a certain threshold, and a particular service has been especially problematic this week (throwing hundreds of exceptions). Email response from the team mgr responsible for the service.

The exception? NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Subject: a rant for devRant
Hello,
Not entirely sure why or when exactly it happened, but after I joined mailing lists I have a pet peeve for people who don't use a proper subject line, or don't use email when I literally made a mail server for that purpose (some organizations really prefer calling apparently). Is it really that hard to summarize a message in one sentence? Hell half the time even the message itself is just a few sentences.
Also the greeting and salutation at the beginning and end of email messages. I find them so redundant. Has anyone ever gotten any meaningful information out of "Hello", "Greetings", "Dear", or something like that? Or "Best regards" or whatever. I get that it's just being polite but it's so meaningless! I really don't like using them anymore. Just a message block and who it came from, that's all it needs to me. Instead pour some effort into the damn subject, the title of whatever drivel you're putting out there! Or replying to an email *only* when the subject matter is still related! Or actually replying to the damn email if it's still that subject matter...
I probably sound like an old man, but seriously.. email isn't a hard concept once you "get it". Anyone can write a halfway decent letter, why isn't that the case for email?
Best regards,
Condor13 -

This is why i could NEVER work a helpdesk job - yesterday corporate head office sent out a company wide email, including the helpdesk address. Helpdesk automatically creates a ticket for any emails, attaching the original email for reference. This morning I see at least 10 helpdesk tix, emailed to me because i was on the original email chain, created by dumb-dumbs saying things like "all these emails must be a computer glitch" "I do not require assistance" without realizing if they just stopped replying they would stop getting the emails!
Helpdesk is SWAMPED with legitimate work but lately theyve had to deal with things like this, I feel terrible for them1 -

Agency hires me to convert a 4 column + sidebar + pattern backgrounds email to responsive, for a big client, I make a redesign, simplifying it (less columns, flat...) to avoid issues, client insists, exactly the same design is needed.
I tell him its almost impossible but I will try, and try, and try, many times, but on their old Outlook, some email parts are not aligned (just that), try, and try, many hours, many days beyond budget... all the times since first explaining that perfection is not possible with all possible email clients, and like 7% is using outlook... At that point, and before, email was so well.
Finally I put an end to this, tell them to pay and leave me alone, as they didn't take my advises and warnings serious, not my fault.
This story is nothing until the discovery I made today: the agency had signed a contract with the client, a bank, in that contract there was the obligation to replicate exactly the same design and should be perfect in all email clients...3 -
To my client who wants a two-column formatted email built with tables in Constant Contact to appear in the same two-column format on mobile devices: You're lying when you say your previous developer achieved a legible, mobile, tiny screen email this way. I know because I can see the previous email formatting. In fact, I cloned that exact email and merely swapped out the content. You really do not understand what you're asking for.4

*sigh* woke up did a data export for the customer, send it to them then they reply "thanks but it's next weekend we wanted the data export not this one" checked the email and they were correct.

Not mine, but a colleague puts a script in production which has to sent an email every time a config changes, but in reality sent an email every time the file was accessed. The system sent a good amount of email in a couple of minutes, the remote SMTP bounced them but the connections on port 25 was dropped by the server, the production firewall hits the maximum number of allowed connections... a lot of shit!

Friday afternoon, the week's work is finished, and I'm ahead of schedule.
An email arrives for another project.. "URGENT yaddayadda". The dickheads where it came from have taken weeks to react, and now it's urgent. Yeah, fuck you assholes, ideally with a smoothing iron.
On the upside, I'm not addressed directly, and that project isn't my task. But boss could make it mine in no time, and I think he would.
I don't even open the email, nobody has seen it anyway yet, AND I GO HOME! :-)3 -
I have multiple contenders ;)
Contender one:
A program used to sort emails.
We was in the process of moving from lotus notes to exchange and needed a way route emails to the right server internally.
Solution, a qmail to receive all emails, a script running by cron every minute to read the emails, check the recipient name to a list and resending to the right server. The script was written in php :P since that was the only way we at the time had to read an email into an object, it was run just like any other shell script :D
Contender two:
A multi threaded mail sender that fetch email addresses and content from a database and posted them through qmail using background execution and pipes to get the result back and then update the database, written in bash script.
Contender three:
A c program used in a similar way as in one but this time using dial up and uucp to fetch email and then drop these either into lotus notes or into a bbs for our customers to give them an email address. This was around 1993, so not to many isp’s offered email and not to many had internet anyway, dial up bbs was much more common.5 -

Reply to a recruiter today quoting her email:
You will end up with more qualified people if you don't use blatantly fictitious statements like. "While it's not often that I like to email people I don' t know (especially those in different cities!)" You're a recruiter using LinkedIn, the activity of recruiting is partially doing exactly the above.

You may not like GDPR but it will change one important thing - american companies will stop email spam. Srsly, in Europe you always had to check box that you want marketing spam. USA companies always worked in opt-out mode, which is soooo annoying1

When the customer is complaining that not what she meant but then you show her the emails and then she said I (the developer) should have known better from the first meeting draft and shouldn't followed the email. It is a lose lose situation.2

No, I'm not interested in your credit card offer 😬
I need a spam filter for my mailbox like my email 👻 -
Looking for internships for the summer, a comp. sends me a email at 3 in the morning and I had emails from them flagged and my phone woke me up. I'm not mad about rejection but rather why send me a email at 3 I like to sleep sometimes.1

I don't fucking care if you don't understand what I'm trying to convey, I've documented how to configure email with your fucking iPhone (even though I don't own one), I will not fucking guide some FUCKING idiot from management to teach them configure the same documented thing.
It's fucking email, you log in with your credentials and settings are fetched, how is this difficult to understand you FUCKING idiot?!?!??
Also, pic related, translation "I don't give rat's ass" or "I don't fucking care"8 -
LinkedIn recruiter message
Hi I have an exciting opportunity for you which i will not share on messages but why don't you give me your phone number, email, home address, favorite color so that i can email the same shit to you instead of sending it in the LinkedIn messages and also give me your phone number.2 -

Recruiter for a well known company somehow finds my personal email, no biggie - it's not the first time they've contacted me. I decide to give it a shot, phone interview is scheduled, they're a no show. Email them 10 after, they want to reschedule, I do a reschedule. Again, no show. Yeah, it's like that... I haven't even heard back now. Seriously, how do these people even hold jobs?

Sending email to client (the following is a short version of it)
"
Dear Data Evaluation Team,
Here is a link with the password to the data export for the questionaire.
You will find in there 4 sections:
1. Utilization Report
2. Question List
3. User Responses to questionnaire
4. Summary of responses
"
Email from client
"
Thank you data team.
I see that the user responses have some ids for the questions. Can you please give me the full question text, where is it?
"
My response
"Section 2, Question List"
Like really? Did you just not f*ing read the email and just jumped into the data export blindly. I wrote some fucking docs for a reason. -
Our 911 Google group gets an email from a stakeholder. The group includes engineering and other stakeholders.
Stakeholder: Someone commented on Instagram that they couldn’t make a purchase.
Me: Do you have other details, like this user’s name?
SH: That’s all I got.
Me: 😑 This Google group is for 911 emergency purposes. A single user not being able to complete a purchase most likely had their bank decline the purchase. Email us when you have dozens of people saying they can’t make a purchase. Also, I don’t have the time to look through hundreds of lines of logs just to figure out the problem for one user. Email us when you have more details. SMH. -

May I suggest an email service?
I saw this post recommending the Vivaldi browser (https://devrant.com/rants/1544070/...) and there was a discussion a few days ago about how email providers snoop around and sell data. I can't find it anymore, but noone mentioned protonmail.ch there.
I just wanted to share my so far positive experience with protonmail. It's a fully encrypted email service that was first used internally by some Swiss academics. Now they made a product out of it with paid subscriptions and a basic, free account. They already open-sourced the front-end web client and are planning to do the same for the back-end in the future, which is really cool. Oh and they have really nice email clients for iOS and Android, which have higher ratings than gmail itself in the Play Store. But that might also be because only a special audience uses protonmail and not the regular guys.
So, I suggest that you register an account there even if you don't want to use it right now. The free account comes with 1 email address and storage limitations. But it's usable and ad-free. Since it's still quite the new service, many email addresses are available. Just like gmail in the early days. That's why I'm suggesting you go and register even if you don't need it now.
Oh and last but not least: I'm not affiliated in any way with protonmail, except for having a paid subscription. But I believe things making the internet a better place should be promoted and devrant is definitely the community with people thinking the same way I do. Have a nice day.9 -
When someone over complicates everything. Turns what could be a three paragraph billeted system launch email into four dense pages that no one will finish reading. First page tooting their horn for a job not well done. Usually 'less is more'2

How do you feel when in the middle of tight deadline, your client calls you and tells you that he has changed some little detailing in the requirements, like naming, color schema etc. This needs to be done within the deadline. You tell yes and tell him to send email.
After receiving the email, you find out it's not little it's bag of new features listing.
Now either you have to overwork or let the client go....2 -
Have you ever done tab (thinking that the text will indent) and enter to go to new line in Outlook and sent email by accident ? I have done couple of times now ! Not good .1
-
Why would you send me an email that "the opening is not longer available" when you're going to list the job again 3 more times in the same month??
At least be honest! i'm a big boy, i can handle it.6 -
Client requested password change for their info@ email.
Changed the password.
Client said website is not sending emails
Turned out that website is using SMTP to send email using the same email address. -
Interesting password recommendation here...
Translation:
- A form with to fields: Surname and password.
- Below the form is a text: "For signup please enter your name and a password (e.g. your email address). With your name and password you can change your data anytime and may get access to the memberlist."
Bonus: There is a "help"-button (outside of the cutting) which even *recommends* the use of the email-address as the password!
Extra bonus: The password field is a normal text one.
IF THE EMAIL ADDRESS HAS TO BE SUBMITTED, WHY NOT JUST ADD ANOTHER FIELD OR AT LEAST LABEL THE FIELD CORRECTLY!
Update: After this form, you get to another form, to enter you email address...3 -
All mail clients are intentionally made not to show sender email address, but rather their chosen name to then launder money on anti-phishing trainings.2

Anyone here has any experience with buying shit from STMicroelectronics? Requested a fucking account like an hour ago and their shit confirmation email has not gotten to me yet.

So, apparently, in 2015 our webhost (ixwebhosting) was purchased by Site5... This week, they finally migrated us to Site5 servers without warning, taking my email down in the process...
Today, after following the instructions in their own KB article (that tells you to click an icon that doesn't exist,) and chatting with support for over an hour, I was told that the new system they migrated us to doesn't support catch-all email accounts... At all... It's simply not possible to receive an email that was sent to your domain, unless the email address exists in the system somewhere... Despite the fact that it's a standard cPanel feature, that the old and new systems both use cPanel, that every other webhost I have ever seen that uses cPanel has this feature available, AND the fact that this is an important feature for a lot of websites, because they pipe all of their emails to a script for processing... It's simply not possible... They won't be providing that feature anymore. Nor for that matter is it possible to be migrated back...
They migrated accounts to a system that has a basic email function intentionally disabled, without warning... And we can't afford to open an account with someone else ATM... So I can't get any email until we get migrated... FML9 -
Trying to make a deadline, waiting for more info from an analist so I can implement the science stuff correctly
Today I receive the email with the info I need. Email is cc'ed to the client. And it starts with complaining about me not having implemented the science stuff. The info I need is attached in this email. Arghgh, how am I supposed to do that if I don't have the information I need.
Apart from that she was testing in the production environment. How do you work with people like this.
But hey, I just got my devRant stickers ;) -

This phising email I just received in my yahoo account almost got me fooled with the very convincing email design, but thankfully the culprit didn't smart enough to spoof his email address.
Ohh and they attach a suspicious pdf file too despite the message didn't say anything about attachment.
Apparently the spam detector in yahoo is not very good as this one was received in my main inbox.2 -
When the boss can't even use an email client but insists on telling you that the email provider is 100% integrated into the production application and short story you know it's not. 😑

I just fixed a bug I've been trying to fix for over 10 hours. "Email not sending in laravel notifications but sending with Mail::send". How did I fix it?
Changed "email_address" to "email" because that's what the framework was expecting.
How do I explain this to my client? 😂😂3 -
Under the guise of being security conscious, our section had a informal "doughnut charter" whereby if you leave your computer unlocked and someone managed to send an email to the section (cc'ing you) shouting everyone doughnuts then you must comply with the "promise". I was referred to at the time as the "god of email" and everyone knew not to do it to me or I would retaliate. This is because it happened once before. In that case, I set up a secure hidden rule in the person's email so that if they received a doughnut email they would automatically send a doughnut email from them... this also meant it was possible to trigger it at any time. They quickly begged for it to be removed. From then on, no dared touch my unlocked computer. When we got a new boss he was informed of the charter and was repeatedly warned not to 'doughnut' me but one day he ignored the warnings. In his case I set up a rule so that if he sent any email, he also sent out a doughnut email as well. Over the next four days he sent sooo many doughnut emails... He went from happy, to frustrated, to angry and then simply desperate. No one dared tell him I was my doing... He eventually came out of his office and begged for it to stop... Seeing his desperation, I stopped it. He was very appreciative but never put two-and-two together (that his actions caused it). He didn't find out till three months later that I was the one who did it to him. That was the second and last time I was ever doughnut'd.

Found out today during testing that a page made it to the server when it wasn't supposed to exist... Angry soapbox dev sent out a blast email... No you cock, it's not supposed to look like that because it's not supposed to fucking exist. 😒

Got an email from a colleague about a problem to do with end of day (marks orders as processed, dispatched online via API...

"Was my email not clear enough?"
Well fuck you, you miserable fuck. -
I fucking hate the modern tech stacks that are forcing to use their products and workflows. Fucking Microsoft. Used to be good but now it's shit.
I had to email the written homework. After finishing it, I attached it and sent it to my professor via email (Outlook on Web). I did not pay much attention.
5 hours later he replies to me saying that he cannot accept this form of submission. I was confused because he mentioned that he wanted it only as attachment via email.
Turns out, Outlook did not attach the PDF. Instead, uploaded it on OneDrive, and embedded a private link on the body. It was 11:55 PM, I was working for 10 hours straight with that assignment and didn't pay attention at all before sending. Fuck this. He was generous enough to accept the submission after the deadline.
I am glad that I went away from Windows 5 years ago. I don't want to touch any MS product anymore. Hopefully they do not fuck up GitHub and implement it with their other half-assed products.4 -
Our Networks manager just send a mass email to the rest of it stating that some of our Linux servers need to have an antivirus installed.
He mentioned cisco AMP for Linux. Just saw the email like 2 mins ago so i have not researched anything.
Is that a thing that some of you that are more on the networking side and security side would recommend?
Never heard of installing an anti virus on linux which is why i ask and i don't know shit about cisco.10 -
So work this morning has been fun, we got an email from some about a change in their company and they CCd about 360 people in so you could see the emails (GDPR and all that) and then a help desk on one of the recipients picked it up, sent out an auto response to everyone, then another auto response from someone else went out and you can see where it went from there... About 100 emails later they sent out an email asking people to not reply to the previous email and are working with the companies to get the auto responders turned off
Life lesson today: check your emails before sending them!1 -
Has anybody been forced by a PM or someone else to send clients passwords via email?
How should I tell them it's not best practice even if they are insisting?4 -
Email this morning: "Program X is not working".
Wow thanks. That's not fucking helpful at all. We have like 100 different applications and I've only ever seen about half of them so far and have no clue how to even use it or what is supposed to do. -
My coworker cannot log in to his company email account. So I contacted the guys in charge of this by email, asking if they could help and asked whats the process now or how does this work. I assume if his email is not working, they cannot send him a password reset link.
their answer: yeah, sure, we reseted the password of the mentioned user, here is his new password5 -

Client (who hosts our programs on their website) sends an email there is an issue! Resolve is asap. - I drop a brick if my boss finds out about this he will kick off.
I look into it the best I can but there is no testing environment for their website so do the best I can on our environment. Every thing seems to be doing exactly what it should and can't reproduce. So I email client I can't reproduce and everything looks fine are you sure it's not at your end?
They email back I got someone at our end to look at it and he's sure it's your end. So I spend a rather long time looking into this and still find nothing so email back for more information and a video of them reproducing the issue.
They email back: umm sorry seems it was our side that was causing the issue, only noticed it when making the video.
*sigh* more time wasted thanks clients! -
Again got an email(pseudospam) from a service I subscribed to (yes I did). It says the email is from CEO and it's supposed to be X-mas wish + invitation to their youtube channel. It was, kind of...
But the words they (or he, but I hope not) used in the email! It was so obviously blank, such uninteresting-president-speech. It was even targeted as a spam by gmail. In a foreign lang.
I mean... if you want to reach to your customers, sit on your ass and imagine _yourself_ reading an email that's long, its point was lost somewhere in the fourth sentence and magically appeared at the end + even default mail filter targets it as a spam.
That's what you get from a service. Motivational crap and blank words. Many thanks, I haven't heard a lot of those lately, eh?! -
My version of the rubber duck is Outlook. I start writing a mail to the PM explaining an issue with the domain logic and how I see multiple ways to resolve it, but not sure which one is better.
As I write the email clearly enough for him to understand, I end up knowing exactly what to do and I delete the email 😜2 -
Recruiter contacted me about a job via email. Being the intrepid dev, I GlassDoor'd them. Nothing but shit reviews, so I told him no thanks.
"Oh we've seen the reviews and we're really trying to get our stuff together."
"Not on my back, you won't. I'm not going from the frying pan into the fire. "
He sent me more email asking me to reconsider. If you have shit reviews and have to beg people, uhh, are you that stupid to think anyone will come work for you?2 -
So yes, Microsoft is scanning my emails for keywords. I tried to send an email using the word PFA and did not attach any file. It gives a pop up to attach one.3

My colleague actually uses multiple email addresses that has different purposes. E.g. one email for travels, one email for work, one email for family, one email for other projects, one email for payments, etc.
I've yet to show him how emails nowadays can help label and sort them by nature.6 -
sent a follow up email to 2 separate companies asking for their decision.

TLDR: I wanted to change email to new one, but I could not remember which one I have
currently. I found out an API in DevRant JS files for email verification and used
it to find it out.
So, I am moving from Gmail to Protonmail Pro, absolutely love their service.
I wanted to do same on Devrant but I could not figure out my current mail for
"I lost my password" form. My Password Manager have only login saved, and profile does
not show email address.
I thought that this user information is stored on server so it have to be some way to retrieve it. I dug
in source code and I've found:
`<div class="signup-title">Verify Your Email</div>`
Which has event assigned to function which uses jQuery.ajax (love it btw :D) to call:
`url: "/api/users/me/resend-confirm",`
This seems like worth a shot. Few copy-pastes and one ajax call later:

So a while back I was contacted by a recruiter, I wasn't interested at first but ended up interviewing and eventually took the role. Fast forward 2 months into the role I get a courtesy email asking how things are going and if I would like a call to chat.
I responded saying I didn't like the role and provided a suitable time to call. I never heard anything back until fast forward another 4 months.
Today I got a REPLY to my email where I said was not happy in the role, and what was the email about?
This guy wanted a favour as they had another candidate and wanted me to provide contact details of a manager to skip the usual HR process. -
Area of focus: security and automation
Why: before I turned 18 i was a hacker for 5 years and i saw the kind of crap security most websites and programs had and even if the site was secure you could usually email somebody with a spoofed email and get in. And when i say hacker i mean i wrote my own stuff not skiddy.8 -

Okay, sure. This may happen to indie stuff etc.
But we are talking about bigass company thats fucking trying to assasinate steam (and so far kindda fails). I hate DRM. Not all of it, but most of it for sure. I ended up sending an email to support of some random DRM crap ware to tell them how much I despise them. I get nothing out of it, but they wasted my time so I might as well waste a bit of theirs with some useless email.3

So Mr. D is a lecturer at ENS Lyon and they think my application fro grad school is **interesting** and they want to have a virtual meeting with me. This is the first email of this genre that I receive without a thank you note.
However, I remember that I applied for a master's of Computer Science, NOT Fundamentals of it (Do I look like I have a death wish?). I thought, like all other universities that don't specify this bit, that I would choose my research interest there and pursue it. Also, I used my undergrad uni alumni email for the application, so why contact me using my Gmail? And what does he mean by saying my file was judged "interesting"?
I don't know, it feels both creepy and wrong. When people apply with an email address to your position/program, you use the same address to get in touch with them. Not anything else you scrapped out of the internet, right?2 -
want to do software for my final year project but the lecturer's not in office and didnt reply my email during choosing topics, so end up with data analysis. 😴1

Come in to work, sit down at desk, coworker comes in. Tells me I'm going to potentially start crimping grounding wires for 40 racks. Shows me the email, I notice I'm not in the CC chain. I love not being in the know about work I may be doing that isn't in my job description.1

Welp. I think I witnessed a new job application hack. Someone listed my team’s general engineering email address for their Employee Referral.
That email address is listed publicly, but I’m pretty sure no one on my team told the applicant to list it as a referral contact. I suspect someone got the email from a Slack workspace. I had posted a job listing, in a threaded comment someone had complimented my employer’s public API, and I shared our engineering email and said we’d love to see what he builds.
It looks like someone else from that Slack saw this and decided to list the engineering email as an employee referral. I get that employee referral can mean different things to different people and it might be someone who’s new to job searching and doesn’t know better.
For my employer’s online application, an employee referral requires a name and email address for the employee. I’m curious what the applicant listed for the employee referrer’s name. Wonder if it was my name. If it is, guess I have to give my manager a heads up and tell him that I do not know this applicant.
This occurrence is a new one for me and I don’t think it’s happened to us before. And it’s not really a good tactic to get a resume read at my workplace. Where I work, my manger reviews the resumes and tells HR who he wants to set up calls with. It’s not HR or an ATS that screens resumes and sends them to my manager. -
Am I a selfish asshole for not allowing my email server to be the relay whore of the internet?
I just hate postfix log files filled with messages not related to my own domain.3 -

So we had a requirement to build some email templates and the guy who was working on that was unable to make some good one.
And I build kinda one and ........... They liked it.

just bought myself a nice domainname, and now I'm looking for a good email provider I can use for my domain.

Used Momentum to-do lists for money-tracking - who owns me how much for which project etc. Well from time to time Momentum just completely erases them. This was painful.

It's time to reset all my passwords. Got the second Facebook password reset email this month and now even from Microsoft they doesn't even have the same email-pass pair...

Stop fucking wasting my time! When clients ask for something or how to do something and you set about providing a succinct and precise answer to their enquiry, then the second email comes saying, that’s not what I meant, and then a totally different unrelated enquiry follows as way of clarification. Just fuck off, your enquiry may now get answered in a week or just get completely ignored. Cunt. Think before you spew bollocks at me in an email.

Embarcadero tracked my progress on a potential commercial project. To my employer, I know for a fact my employee email is not connected to my personal PC. How did they get that email?
I used the unlicensed pro version of 10.3 because I thought the community version would have the necessary components needed open the source and not break the project. I planned to use the software over the holidays to dissect the code to see what changes I can bring to the table before asking them to buy me the legit license. Embarcadero caught me. Even know my project directories. How did they do it I wonder?4 -
Came into work this week after the holidays and was an email from azure saying unless we redeploy our virtual machines before next week they will do it at midnight utc - which happens to be mid-day here.
No problem I just email our client and schedule a time Friday afternoon where the servers will be unavailable and I'll do it then.
Today (Thursday) azure email and say they are going to just reboot our servers now. I check and the application is not working. Clients start phoning in saying they cant access the system.. -
I applied for System Analyst vancancy. I got the interview. I went for the interview. Today I received an email stating that I've not been selected.
Inner me: Rejection is part of life. Hang in there.2 -
!rant (maybe duplicate)
Finally I was able to verify my email and start writing on devRant after a couple years or so (email confirmation was not being sent correctly because of a bug)
-end of (low quality) rant2 -
I just experienced a new level of wut at my job. Web Engineering has a Google group email. This morning someone at work sent us an email about canceling a work order (and he didn’t know how to cancel it)…for a plumbing issue 😑Wrong engineering department, my dude. And you can cancel your work order by going to the request system where you submitted it or the email receipt of you request, which was certainly not to this Google group email. You have the work order number, so you must have an email somewhere about your request. And how’d he get this email?? I’m seriously wondering if this is a weird phishing attempt.2

Just received an email from a marketing company in the US stating that:
"Not liking cookies. Use Google analytics instead to track behavior."
And that "Cookies now losing popularity in the US".

Sometimes YouTube recommends something fantastic like this. I really did not search for "how to send an 'email'"! Email prescriptions are still syfy for many countries, and that bit on taking fridge inventory on the computer is a bit of an overkill even today! The transmission at the end, freakyyyyyyy!
https://youtube.com/watch/... -
A thing that we all hate. We are programmers and we don't fix computer. Disrupted my programming flow because email doesn't comes in. Turns out the PC itself is not connected to the Internet. FML, now I have to start over.

Sums up my life. And my property.
I'm bored! Mail me to email ID in https://pgp.mit.edu/pks/lookup/... I may or may not reply. Cuz I may not remember the password for that email ID.5 -
Is it only me who sent an email & awaiting stickers!! @devRant, if my stickers are not ready can you send me a better smiley? I don't want to look at this sad smiley on ma laptop ;)

Checking my work email, found three meeting invitation emails, got a mini heart attack, then noticed the other two are just rescheduling...
Not a nice way to start a Monday with meetings invitation 😅 -
Maven simplejavamail dependency import, build email, try send it: jakarta.mail.messageexception whatever, not class def found. After some googling: Depends on jakarta-mail. Find jakarta-mail dependency, include it in pom, start again: jakarta.mail.someotherclassexception, no class def found.
Yeah fuck you, too...2 -
I keep getting emails from people I don't know that are like conversations, leading me to believe they aren't sent to the rightful owner. Most of the time, I see the email has uppercase at some places (when mine doesn't).
I just wish the companies could put a mark somewhere in their page when entering an uppercase email that mentions the fact that it doesn't change shit, getting really annoyed from receiving these mails not directed to me 😒 -
You fucking fucktard! First, learn how to fucking read an email and secondly, I was referring to the fucking login issue you mentioned before, not the fucking logout issue!!! Serioursly!>!?!?!?! How the fuck do you function!
Fucking belgium fucktard!7 -
Finally back at devRant :/
The password reset feature does not work with email, only by username and I did not remember my username :/3 -
Got an email “Welcome to Amazon Web Services” to an old GMail account I no longer use. Seems genuine with no links to shady websites or anything. Does Amazon not verify email addresses or how does that happen?
Also, the mail says I have now 12 months of free tier access, so will they start billing me instead of the random fuck who signed up with my email address?3 -
Friday afternoon, customer sends in "your system hasn't worked since this morning, why aren't you fixing it!". To my personal email, and I've been *busy*! How dumb do you need to be to not:
- ...send emails to our support email instead of my personal email?
- ...describe WHAT is not working?
- ...be courteous to the only people with the ability to fix your problem? -
My email account started sending malicious links to my 6 year old addressbook.
Only noticed it because most of the email adresses in it do not exist anymore. Now I am fucking worried about my semsitive data in my mail account. Wtf... -
For people who use an email provider that's not Google/Microsoft/proprietary-steal-yo'-data. What are y'all's thoughts on it? Are there good open source or proprietary but private(not sell your data to China/US/Uncle greg from the market) ones? Excluding the obvious "just host your own email server".17

Fuck spam, email harvesters and fuck moderators too.
I got tired of getting spam in my email inbox from an email address that I published on my website.
The bots and email harvesters were scraping / harvesting my email address from my website and sending me tons of unwanted spam.
I decided to create a free tool to protect peoples email address behind a form captcha so that it knows the person reading it, is indeed human and not a bot or spammer.
Decided to post to reddit to get the word out and the post gets flagged. Really? What gives?
Its a free tool to stop spam for chrikes sake. I am not trying to make money.
Anyhoo wiill post the link here. Hope you guys and gaals are more friendly and will share the link.
the link is Veilmail.io ( can someone post the link please)
RANT OVER4 -
Recruiter got tired of me being not interested and just went ahead with a friendly reminder of a previous email with credentials for some test so we can move ahead with the process... talk bout some balls

Hello anyone with an idea how I can unsubscribe my email from many services at once? It seems Google doesn't have that feature that lets you see all your email subscriptions. I'm receiving a lot of junk and spam mails from some subscriptions I no longer want.
Unroll.me would have been great but it's not available in my country.16 -
Need advice.
I applied to a company and i am still waiting for the reply via email, the last email they sent was monday, should i wait or just find another job opportunity, the interview went well but i dont know if they will reply or not.4 -
So I sent an email to a list of email ids. I got error message that one id does not exist. Does that mean the email didn’t go to just that one address and went to the others? Or the email didn’t do to anyone? I’m talking about gmail.6
-
created about 1000 test users for my system all with fake email addresses. forgot about the welcome email that goes out. SendGrid was not happy with all the bounces and trashed the reputation score. whoops
-
I create a free tool called VeilMail to stop email address harvesting and stop spam. VeilMail makes sure it's a human reading your email address and not a email harvester or bot.

Would love your feedback4 -
A friend wants to post a rant about that devRant doesnt sent him the email confirmation but he can't because his email is not confirmed. Hahaha
-
How do i change my devrant password?
Not to mention that it's still not possible to change username/email on the desktop version.3 -
It's not GDPR compliance unless it comes from the GDPR region of Brussels.
Otherwise it's just a sparkling high latency CRUD API over Email enforced by law.3 -
"We're sending you this email because we tried to reach you on your phone. We'll try again tomorrow unless you don't reply with the words 'not interested'."1

Working from home today.
I have been in this role for many months now. Not a single ticket with specs.
Question in my email inbox
"Estimates" for current ticket.
Without specs, well some time I guess. -
How can I auto-detect when a wordpress update breaks a plugin/slider/shortcodes/email form?
I guess there is a way to run tests for this but i’m not sure how.6 -
Is there any anonymous chat app for developers??.. i am not talking about creating a fake name or email id to stay anonymous but truly anonymous?5
-
What do you guys use for email providers these days?
I'm talking more for custom domains, not sending/receiving5
